Favorite neighborhood biergarten! Great selection of beer, good comfort food and a friendly atmosphere! The place is dog and kids friendly, so not the place for you if you want a quiet space all for yourself, on a sunny day.. oh, and they have heaters for winter!
This place absolutely rules. Ghost Town consistently brews some of the best beers in the Bay Area, with a ton of interesting beer always in rotation on the tap list, and the food at this Laurel beer garden is top notch pub food with a pretty extensive menu. Plus, they've always got great music playing.
Great beer and food! If you are an IPA fan this is the place for you. I have had the wings, fried chicken sandwich, fish tacos and the pretzel. All were really good. Their fries are excellent and a healthy portion. Can't go wrong with them. There is no table service here outside of them delivering your food. Stop at the bar to get a beer/cider and order your food. They will give you a number to put on your table. You need to bus your own table when you are done. All seating is outdoors with some under a tent. All others have an umbrella. Most tables are long so you may have others asking to sit at your table. There are heaters when it gets chilly. They have beer, cider, growlers, and food to go. This place is super dog friendly. I have never been here without multiple dogs being present. Parking is difficult as it is a very busy neighborhood. There is metered street parking with very limited free parking near the adjacent houses.
This place is awesome! It's within walking distance of my cousin's house so we walked over. My cousin is a regular here and I'm sure glad he brought us. The kids loved all the skeletons on display and they ate up the kids menu items. I loved the bun on my burger! It was like a pretzel or sourdough bun. Soooo good. The sour sweet stout was pretty awesome too. We will definitely be back when we're visiting family again.
Love this place. One of my favorite breweries, and one of the few open air breweries this side of the lake. Their dark malts are some of the best I've had. Great food options too. The 'ghostly' decor might not be to everyone's liking, but it's not overdone at all. Friendly staff every single time I've been there.
This place rocks — great selection of beers, tasty food selection, and a terrific family-friendly outdoor vibe. Perfect for post-hike in the hills.
Where to start? Ghost Town is better than a lot of random local breweries, for a number of reasons. They don't restrict themselves to popular styles, and brew some of the rarer and unusual ones. They're not afraid to experiment, either. With them I've gotten to try Sour Ales with mixed cultures, bitter and more mellow IPAs, and other various styles. If you're looking for somewhere to try some beers that really expand your horizons in Oakland, this is an amazing place to start. A Gem of the Laurel.
I really enjoyed this location on a sunny weekend afternoon. I sampled four beers as I had never been there before and had the fish and chips. Food was well prepared and the service was professional as well a nice. I will return.
A friend and I recently dined and drank here for the first time. I ordered the Cluckin Hell Sando, which had character. My taste buds very much enjoyed the Fresno Hot Sauce that was offered by Ghost Town Brewing. The beer I ordered with my meal may have been the Sour Violence. It essentially was a fusion between chocolate and sour fruit, and it was one of the very best craft beers that I have ever tasted. GTB had a good atmosphere. And each employee that my friend and I interacted with was courteous, helpful and welcoming. We shall return!!
Nice local brewery with outdoor seating. Wide range of beers and reasonably priced decent bar food. It's also a dog and child friendly environment.
I hadn’t planned to visit Ghost Town Brewing that day. It was Presidents’ Day, and I was in Oakland looking for a place to grab lunch. With no particular destination in mind, I googled the nearest restaurant and found one that opened at 11 AM. Once there, I ordered a bowl of fries and six pepper-seasoned wings. The fries came in a huge portion, enough for both me and my wife. The wings, however, were a different story. The pepper seasoning was intense, burning my lips, not my tongue. Still, they were delicious. For beer, I went with a lager. Normally, I prefer ales, but my stomach doesn’t handle them well. The lager was crisp and refreshing, a solid choice for the meal. Beyond the food and drinks, what really stood out was the vibe. The weather was perfect, the music was great, and the atmosphere felt laid-back yet lively. I found myself truly enjoying the moment, soaking in the casual yet energetic setting. By the time I finished my meal, I knew this wasn’t just a random lunch stop—it had earned a spot on my favorites list. Sometimes, the best experiences come from the most unplanned moments.
Such a chill spot with a great selection of beer and outdoor seatingfor pups, kids, and family. We got the chicken strips for the kiddos, which they loved - high quality chicken breaded and fried to perfection. The fish tacos were so crunchy and juicy. The empanada (beef & potato) were so flavorful with the flakiest crust. The order came out super fast! Can't wait to try other goodies next time around.
Really great brewpub with food. Definitely worth checking out. Been coming here since they opened and am finally posting a review. Sunny covered patio that is dog friendly. The food is pretty solid. Pub grub - but as shown in photo, it is well executed pub grub! I love the Imhume IPA (the beers here tend towards the stronger end of the spectrum). They make their own hot sauces and we like to make our own blends.
I can’t believe we haven’t visited Ghost Town Brewing yet. We were here long before the 4505 Meats did the build out of their outdoor patio. Now, we get the enjoy upscale pub foods with tasty Ghost Town brews in their sunny patio area. We came mid-day on a Monday and there honestly isn’t a better time to chill with a cold beer in hand - you could even work from this place! Staff is friendly, service is quick, and there’s TVs for game time watch parties. We ordered fish tacos, quesadilla, fries, and a delicious grain bowl. Will definitely come back for days when the Warriors are playing.
Great environment and value. We stopped in quickly on our way to SF and got empanadas and the cluckin hell chicken sandwich. Both were very good and they were great deals for the price. The side salad for the chicken sandwich was very generous. Prices also already included taxes and were rounded to even numbers which was super convenient.
Ghost Town Brewery offers a unique and diverse menu with a standout kale salad that is unlike any other. The fresh and crispy fries and cool circus-themed bathrooms add to the enjoyable experience, while the unique artwork and friendly staff make it a truly memorable visit. The attention to detail and thought put into running the business effectively is apparent throughout, making it a must-visit spot for great food and atmosphere.
Open patio seating options , simple food choices , kids menu .
Nice patio, clean restrooms, dog friendly, good beer and great food. $47 for 2 entrees and 2 beers with tax & tip. Food came out hot and fast. Not much parking in the area but definitely would come back.
Kid friendly, dog friendly, vegan options & a cider on tap. Loved the hummus plate & the dressed greens over couscous. Great outdoor seating. *they no longer have the hummus plate but offer a vegan burger, a garbanzo bean & couscous bowl, fried green beans, fries, and fried brussel sprouts for my fellow vegans.
This place is awesome. Really good food and beer in a funky metal setting. Great vegetarian/vegan options in particular. They also allow dogs as have great, comfortable outdoor seating with heat lamps. Highly recommend this spot for lunch, dinner, or to grab a beer.
Absolutely love this new find. Been open 2 weeks and they already have it all super dialed in. Food is fresh and delicious. Terrific selection of beers. Super friendly and skilled staff. Back patio is unique, inviting, plenty of tables with shade. Great landscaping and outer walls complete with murals. Did I mention the heavy metal piped in , pitch perfect? Trust me, even if you "think" metal is not your thing, you may just find your mind expanding. Ghost Town Brewery figured out how It can all work together for a truly enjoyable experience.
Love this place. Always my fist stop when flying into OAK. Awesome vibe, great beers and fantastic staff. What else do you need?!?!
Tasty neighborhood beer garden. Delicious food options and a huge selection of beers. Large beer garden with well spaced tables and plenty of shade. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Excellent vibe and a great soundtrack. I read another post about metal but ours was solid 90s-2000s rap/ r&b. Also sells cans/ crowlers/ and growlers. Oh and they have bike racks for safe keeping and no joke, a pay phone 😆
Can’t believe it took me 5 months to visit! Total home run of a place: excellent beers (Mordant was the best IPA I’ve had recently), delicious food (chicken sandwich had awesome spicy honey sauce and the bun was a bread-lover’s dream), it’s dog friendly, and the staff is friendly! My new fav spot in Oakland.

Perfect neighborhood beer garden. Lots of space to accommodate people, dog friendly, awesome beer, incredible service, and the food selection is consistently good. I go regularly with my family (2 adults, toddler and a small dog) and then go with friends and the vibe is perfect every time.
Such a great neighborhood spot! The beers are solid and the food hits the mark every time. Don’t miss the cod croquettes for the table - they’re crispy, perfectly seasoned. ❤️
What a great spot for beer and a burger. The cheeseburger with crispy cheese and a beer! They have a great beer selection and the house scumbag beer is excellent and $3 a glass. The seating is outside, so if its cold bring a jacket, they have heaters but not everywhere. Also thet play metal music, which is awsome. ( Not so loud as to be obnoxious.) The staff is always nice and helpful and the kitchen is fast. Its dog and kid friendly as well. Definitely a gem of Oakland.
There's nothing like a $3 house beer and a massive bowl of fries after a hard day at work. But this place offers way more than that. It has a good craft beer selection on draft, good food, and outdoor seating. Perfect for a sunny day in Oakland. Kid and dog friendly as well!

Update: After a few years, this is still one of our go-to places. Along with several gold medal winning beers they also have very good food. Glad this space didn't go to waste. This was a short-lived BBQ place that we kind of liked but to be replaced by one of the best breweries in the Bay Area? Yes! Good space, all outside, very good beers. As I noted about their main brewery space, their music is horrendous. Still, I'm glad they're here. Food is surprisingly good, too.
It's a very cute local brewery / beer garden in Oakland. There are decent amount of garden/outdoor seating with OK display for sports watching. Foods are American/Mexican fresh and delicious. Good variety of beers by pint/draft or even by 4 to 6 packs. Service is Order-to-Sit FCFS basis. Great for groups, gathering, meetup or couples for casual go out. Parking should be easy using surrounding parking lots or street parking. Will come back for great atmosphere and food.
A welcome new food and brew spot in the Laurel district that’s clean, well maintained, and family friendly. The entire location is outdoors except for where you order. The tables are all ,outdoors with tented tables and a few roof coverings; and with East Bay weather that means it’s pleasant all year round! Bus your own table style ordering with some 4 out of 5 food to go with it. (Their chicken sandwich and Brussels sprouts are a tad on the greasy and less crispy side). It’s clean, hip, well maintained and has corn hole on astroturf (i.e. no mud!!!). Come here on a weeknight or weekend morning and it’ll be packed with families (including mine!) - which leads to me to my only negative surprise of not having a kids menu. I’m sober so I can’t speak to the beer, but I hear it’s pretty good for a local brew. Overall, Oakland needs more spots like this. Advice for the owners: 1) Implement a kids menu 2) Make your menu signage more dynamic and print menus more legible by including spacing between offerings 3) Change the name on Google Maps to distinguish this location from the other one so there’s no confusion in meeting up with friends. (I.e. what Drakes does with their different locations)

I visited this place often but after last night when the server that was going to pour me a drink rubbed the glass cup on their shirt, I realized that this place isn’t as hygienic as I thought it was, this isn’t a 1900s saloon where you can just break food safety laws.
