Amazing ramen! Be aware that it’s probably the richest broth I’ve ever had. And the chicken bites were delicious! Note: also super kid friendly and their kid meal is beyond generous and perfect.
Went here with my partner and a couple of friends for a birthday celebration. Used Yelp to RSVP. Service was great. The food was delicious. Atmosphere festive. As someone who is gluten intolerant but not celiac I was taking a little chance. Brought extra digestives, ordered the gluten free noodles. And I was fine! So for anyone in similar boat as me, take your digestives - double them up and enjoy the ramen! We had a great experience.
Popped into this place for a quick lunch and sat at the bar—they’ve got a super friendly staff and a great atmosphere. I ordered the Hakata Tonkotsu and the Chicken Karaage as a “small bite”. I kind of ordered the chicken on a whim, but man was it tasty! I highly recommend both! Definitely check this place out if you’re looking for quality!
I have been to Marufuku multiple times and it has always been top tier ramen. The atmosphere is so welcoming the moment you walk in and the whole staff greets you. Brittany was such an amazing waitress and answered all our questions. The broth is so rich and the chasu has the best soy flavor around. Highly recommend for a date night or just a quick lunch.
This place was so so so good. There was definitely a bit of a wait, but once we got seated the service was incredibly fast. We ordered within minutes, and a few minutes later we were served all of our food. The food was amazing, the pork was so tender and the pork broth was so flavorful. Highly recommend!
I’ve always been a big fan of ramen, and this place is definitely one of my top two recommendations in the East Bay/Oakland area! The only other spot I’d suggest is Mensho on Piedmont Ave. I’ve been coming here for years, and my favorite is always the Chicken Paitan DX. The broth is always so rich and flavorful, with just the right amount of umami and not too much salt. I absolutely love when that grilled, sizzling chicken leg comes out—it’s just so delicious! You can try their other sides and appetizers, but this order will fill you up pretty fast. The staff are always super attentive, and the restaurant has a perfect vibe for a date night or just hanging out with friends. Plus, the line is much shorter than the one in San Francisco Japantown. I’m a huge fan of this restaurant and would highly recommend it to all ramen lovers! 😋
Had some Takoyaki Balls 🔥 🔥 and Black Garlic Tonkatsu 🔥 🔥 🔥 soup it was one of the best Black Garlic I had, 2nd best to Ramen Hood from L.A., CA Grand Central Market. Everytime I am around the area I will be stopping by. Great side diplings for the Takoyaki balls. Fell in love with this place will be back again. 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥
[Aug 2025] I had a good time here, similar to back about one year ago. The service is good, and both times the food came out significantly faster than most restaurants. We did not feel pressured to leave after eating. In terms of quality of food, I have nothing critical to say. The broth was alright, maybe not the best I've ever had, but good enough to make it a fulfilling culinary experience. There were a bit of people there, and sometimes it's hard to hear during a conversation, but it's just part of the overall vibe. Also, we came on a Thursday night, did not have a reservation, but were able to grab seats at the bar immediately without having to wait. [Sep 2024] I had a great time here in early September 2024. Everything we good — I wouldn't hesitate coming back next time I am in town.
Genuinely one of the best bowls of tonkotsu ramen I’ve had. Ordered the Hakata Tonkotsu DX and the broth was incredibly rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. The service was also great. The staff were super welcoming and took the time to walk us through the menu, which made the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I’d come back to and recommend to anyone craving a solid bowl of ramen. Sapporo pitcher was solid as well
This place absolutely blew me away! The Tonkotsu ramen was incredible – the broth was the richest and most flavorful I've ever tasted. I'm usually disappointed because the broth often ends up too thin/watered down, but theirs was perfect. The chashu was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. Generous portions too! Service was top-notch and they have a fantastic drinks menu. The karage was decent, but felt a bit more like regular fried chicken. Overall, an amazing spot for ramen. Highly recommend!

I love this place! The first time eating here was in 2019 and I have not stopped. Though I am no longer in the Bay Area, I do miss the taste of this ramen house!
The ramen is so good. You can't eat ramen anywhere else after you eat here! The staff are friendly and service is exceptional! Highly recommend this place.

My wife wanted to try this place as she's a big fan of ramen. We both got a bowl of the Hakata Tonkotsu DX. But not before starting with a few appetizers, like their Marufuku bites and classic Takoyaki. The food was filling but I liked the appetizers more. I would try their curry next time. We tried their hot sake but it wasn't a favorite. We would try their cold ones next time. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Kept our water glasses full and made us feel welcome.
I ordered takeout on doordash and had their Hakata Tonkotsu, which came with a rich pork broth, chashu, seasoned soft boiled egg, green onions, kikurage mushrooms, and bean sprouts. Everything tasted really good, the broth was thick and full of flavor. For me, the noodle texture was a too firm, but aside from that, everything else was great!
Place was very busy and loud, it was hard to hear my partner. We had to sign up for a waitlist, but that’s okay. The staff was nice and friendly, I can see how they’re trying to copy the Japanese way of welcoming the customer, having a Gachapon machine etc. I ordered Hakata Tonkotsu ramen. I found the broth very creamy and very mushroomy in flavor which kinda took me out of the Japanese fantasy and made me feel more like I was eating a fancy mushroom soup. The ingredients themself were tasty, but the broth just didn’t hit the spot for me. It was tasty, but not what I wanted/expected at all. I also found 2 super thin slices of meat to not be enough for the soup ratio.
This ramen place was on my list but always crowded and today I got to expect it. I didn't try anything other than the spicy tantan noodles but felt it was no more than a 4. The noodles were very tough, the broth tasted very powdery and the grounded chicken was a no-op. I also don't like how they don't have opinionated authentic vs spicy broths and offer any spice level with any broth. Tells me not proud of their work.

Totally wanted to be impressed. Noodles were delicious, not gonna lie. They were a great tenderness and consistency. The broth was a lot less oily than I was expecting for a Hakata/Fukuoka style tonkotsu. I'm still trying to get used to canned corn kernels in ramen. I know people dig it. I'm just not there yet. Attentive staff. Coming from Hawaii/Japan, Marufuku was just ok for us.
Heard lot of good things about this place but was disappointed after trying their ramen. It lacked richness and flavor that you expect from a ramen plus the noodles had lot of bite to it for my taste. We also tried gyoza and it was let down as well. Service was fast and staff was super friendly which you expect from any Japanese place. This place gets crowded and we had to wait 40 mins. I don’t know if they take reservation I would recommend that.

Changing my review because as I’ve gone back - I’m noticing the food isn’t that good - idk if quality has gone down or if I’ve just been trying other ramen places and now noticing this isn’t high quality. It taste like factory made that’s just being heated up and presented nicely - doesn’t taste fresh or homemade. I wouldn’t say it’s bad - but it’s not special and there’s lots of much better options around for ramen. The marafuku bites were really bad - taste like chicken salad with extra species inside a bun. And the Goyza taste like frozen you can get at the grocery store. There’s a lot of better Asian places around. Don’t waist your money here. The pros is the take out comes out in nice packaging and it’s fast Prior review: Great ramen for take out. It comes very well packed. It’s a bit of a chain so know that. But overall it’s still great. The inside does get very loud and crowded so I find it better for take out
The last few times I've ordered here, it feels as if they've intentionally left meat out. We've ordered multiple dishes that are completely missing the meat that comes with the dish. And it's not like they incorrectly gave us the vegetarian option, they gave us the correct order just with no meat. We've also ordered fried chicken buns and they'll usually give us only one with the fried chicken (which is delicious) but the other two buns with shredded pork. It's become frustrating not getting what you pay for. It's happened multiple times over the past few months which is why I think it's intentional, as if they're trying to save money or something. So I'll look elsewhere for ramen.
STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES!!! This restaurant does not take major food allergies that could be life threatening seriously and employees there will lie or give you their best guess if they don’t know. You cannot trust anything they say. We ate at Marufuku tonight to celebrate my son’s birthday. My daughter has a gluten allergy so I made the effort to call the restaurant earlier to ask if they have gluten free ramen. “Yes we have gluten free ramen” was the answer I got. When we arrived I confirmed with a waitress that they have gluten free ramen. “We have gluten free noodles but everything else has gluten in it” was the response. Great; so not only was I lied to earlier, but the restaurant makes the effort of having cold plain gluten free noodles with absolutely nothing to eat them with. What’s the point? When we asked what is gluten free we were told salad, edamame, and shishito peppers. When we asked if the plum salad dressing had gluten our waiter, to his credit, said he had to check. Not so much to his credit or the credit of the other staff, he came back and told us that it did not contain gluten. The salad and shishito peppers arrived along with the sauce you use for the peppers. “Does this sauce have gluten in it?” We asked the person who brought the food. No was the answer. That was a lie. Another employee told us it does have gluten. We wouldn’t have ordered the dish if the main flavoring wasn’t edible for our daughter. So she was left with a plain plate of peppers and a salad. After eating a few bites of the salad she decided she should ask the manager, again, if the plum dressing had gluten in it. He had to check and told us that IT DID! The opposite of what we were told earlier. She had to stop eating immediately, her belly is now swollen and she has to lie down for a few hours until the pain goes away. Absolutely inexcusable lack of knowledge and a blatant willingness to lie or just guess when they don’t know the answer is putting customers in danger. If my daughter had a life threatening allergy there would be serious consequences for her and for the restaurant. You CANNOT trust anything this restaurant tells you and it is not worth risking it to eat there.
