Opinions de The Chocolate Dragon Oakland
Always a great place to stop by on a late afternoon on Jan 1st after the famous Pegasus annual calendar sale! It’s been years since I have been here, and it’s refreshing to see what I really like about them has not changed much… they still have the most amazing hot chocolate/mocha’s AND still have a wall of bar chocolate that is 2nd to none in terms of selection… and the Cinnamon Chocolate cake is a favorite as well… YUM!
Great place with great drinks! Service is fast especially with how busy the place can get :)
This place is an incredible gem in Rockridge. The two employees had a great sense of humor, offered great suggestions about the menu, and joked back and forth with my partner and I the whole time. The vibe is intimate, loyal, and charming. The chocolate is out of this world. I got the spicy sipping chocolate and melted inside at each sip. I will be coming back here regularly and feel so lucky to live nearby
Holy moly, this place is the BEST!!! Really amazing. We got the bittersweet European style hot chocolate and it was SO good. The homemade whipped cream is so wonderful. The space is soooo cozy and wonderful and the staff was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!
One of my very favorite cozy cafes to visit. Great coffee and hot chocolate, best chocolate croissant on College Ave, and an abundant assortment of chocolate bars. We're lucky to have Chocolate Dragon in the neighborhood!
I've always passed this place when they were already closed and always wanted to try it. Tonight, they were just closing but they let me order anyway. I had never looked at the menu so I just told them that I like bittersweet with little sugar (I'm diabetic) and they seemed to know exactly what I wanted. And they nailed it! I loved the drink they made for me. They also seemed genuinely happy to serve me even though I was their last customer tonight. I will now go out of my way to go here in the future. Great drinks, great service! Can't ask for more.
Hoooooooly smokes, the sipping chocolate, butter brownie, and chocolate bars are TO-DIE for. The staff is extremely knowledgeable on the products they offer. The intention of the shop shines through. It's our new go-to "treat-yourself" spot. Such high quality stuff and great atmosphere. 100/10 would recommend.
The vegan bicerin was simply scrumptious- a dark chocolate and espresso delight! (IMHO this is what all mochas should be). The server was very helpful. Next time, I hope I'll have the time to choose from one of their numerous chocolate bar options as well.
I adore this place. The coffee is amazing even if you don't like chocolate in your coffee. But if you do, their mocha is the best I've ever had. I'm currently obsessed with the Chocolate Chai. Shout out to the staff who are all lovely. Don't forget that they are closed on Monday! I seem unable to learn this lesson myself. 😂
Where has this been all my life?!!! The best shop I’ve ever set foot in. All my favorite chocolates from around the world in one place 🤩🤯😍 super helpful and knowledgeable staff, like a niche perfume shop
Hot chocolate is decadent and made perfectly every time. Cozy atmosphere. Friendly staff. No laptops Friday - Saturday.
This lil cafe is sooo sweet, more sweet than the beverages it serves! The staff are so warm and welcoming, they’re happy to answer any questions you have and are so knowledgeable about all things chocolate! The beverages are so delicious! Personally favorites are the chocolate chai or the coconut chill :) I appreciate the cafe centering social interactions on the weekends (Fri-Sun), where no working or laptops are allowed. If you haven’t stopped here, I hope you will the next time you’re in the neighborhood!
I had a coconut chill - absolutely delicious and the most unique cold chocolate drink I have ever tried. Can’t wait to come back to try more drinks! The store is very cute and artsy and contains a variety of chocolate options, dairy and dairy-free.
Love this place for ordering a cappuccino & browsing (and buying) the massive amount of diverse chocolates they have on offer. Great vibe 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈☕️🍫
i love the chocolate dragon. one of the most special places in all of the Bay Area! great social and communal vibe on weekends (no laptops Fr-Sun) and great study vibes Tuesday-Thursday. the bitersweet European drinking chocolate is my fave. thanks Choc Dragon we love you!!
Been here twice now, their small hot chocolate with the melted chocolate is our go to! Decadent, super rich, dark and just wow! Got some chocolate bars and truffles and turned out pretty good.
The chocolate selection is UNMATCHED!! Tons of different brands and flavors sourced locally and globally. I'm a lover of milk chocolate but my partner is dairy-free and their dark chocolate selection is huge! They also have a bunch of different non-dairy type chocolates. I got six different chocolates and we had a chocolate tasting evening. Can't wait to come back and find more favorites and try their drink menu
I bought a brownie and it was absolutely amazing. It was so great. I ended up getting five chocolate bars to take home. They have a lot of good chocolate and the staff is really helpful to get you just what suits your taste
Ordered the bittersweet chocolate drink and bread pudding. Bread pudding was OK. The drink was nice and thick. However, somewhat sour? I'm not sure if this is what chocolate supposed to taste but not a fan. A little on the pricey side also imo. Edit: tried out several other chocolate drinks later! Best chocolates I've ever had. I'm addicted at this time and wanting to go back for more once in a while.
Probably the best hot chocolate you gonna have in the Bay Area
This is a cozy little chocolate cafe. The wall of beautifully packaged chocolates made me happy. So many interesting flavors and brands I have never seen before. The classic hot chocolate was very good. Staff was nice and recommended very good chocolates to us.
I was thoroughly impressed by the selection of both drinking chocolates and chocolate bars for purchase. I was disappointed, but mostly delighted, by their ban on working in the cafe during holiday hours in favor of reserving the tables for socializing. The barista who took my order was very helpful with explaining their drinking chocolate options and informing my selection. If I lived in the area, I would be here constantly (which might be a problem!)
First time here to start with the basics, I ordered a hot mocha and egg all butter brownie. The mocha was excellent and perfectly balanced with a rich chocolate base, but not overly sweet The brownie was decadent, and I could not taste the coarseness of the flour. It almost felt like a mouse in brownie form but a lot more viscous. They have a no laptop policy on the weekends. A massive selection of bar chocolates to choose from I did not see any savory options, but that’s OK Will come back here again to try some of their drinking chocolate
Not only a great chocolate shop but a great coffee shop as well. This little boutique on College Ave had been flying beneath my radar until I stumbled in the other day. The place has the fare one expects at a good coffee shop, a selection of coffee brews and espresso drinks along with pastries and other goodies. However their mocha is quite the delight, with a real dark chocolate taste to it - something that I love. On top of the normal coffee drink menu, there are a number of more exotic chocolate drinks, a tasty thicker chocolate espresso drink or even thicker European style hot chocolate. For chocolate lovers these are a must. The ambience is rather eclectic with fun decorations and even little dragon figurine sets, it definitely gives the feel of fun place to visit. There is a huge variety of chocolates to choose from, some just shelves with a collection of chocolate bars from different providers, but also their own selection of chocolate as well. The owner is a fascinating woman, and very interesting to talk to with a lot of background in the local chocolate industry. The service of course was very good and the verse that was very friendly.
I wish I knew about this before all my troubles began. Chocolate is my bag, baby. So as soon as I learned of this place, I entered the dragon. Customer service was friendly, while giving me space. They offered help, and I’m glad I accepted because she pointed out options that I hadn’t noticed, but better served my purposes. Options abound for chocolate products and house-made beverages. Hot chocolate is the best in the world. All my troubles are melting away. Bathroom is clean. Street parking. If you choose to give a thumbs-up 👍🏽 or not, I hope you found my review helpful!
Excellent Chocolate shop for real chocolate lovers. Come for the delicious chocolate and stay for the great vibe and super friendly staff.
Both the young man and young lady at the counter we’re so friendly and patient with my multitude of questions! They help me understand what the chocolate drink is and it actually turned out pretty fun! Really refreshing and nice seating outside on the sidewalk where it’s a bit cooler. They got chocolate from all over the place!
This will be your secret go-to for a one-of-a-kind chocolate gift to a chocolate nerd friend, or simply a wow trip to the chocolate kingdom with dragons. They are serious about chocolate. They organize chocolate like books. They have the attitude of a museum. The price is not low, but they deserve it.

Super cute and local chocolate cafe with good drinks. No laptop rule on weekends, which is great. Love the range of chocolate they carry too.
Lovely cafe and excellent chocolate shop. I love coming here with my friends or to buy fancy gifts. I love that working on your computer while at the cafe is restricted to weekdays only to encourage a more social atmosphere over the weekend. There is some but limited indoor and outdoor seating. My only complaint is that the prices aren't listed on the chocolates for sale.
The aroma of chocolate drew me in. The warming taste of hot chocolate made with whole milk kept me in. And the comforting sensation of a delicious cup of not-too-sweet chocolate stayed with me when I left. A great place for a quick drink to offset the cold of winter. Highly recommend!
First time visit - don’t be deceived by how “simple” the desserts might look. You can tell the ingredients are extraordinary and the result is SO delicious. We loved the butter brownie and the flourless chocolate muffin. 10/10
Chocolate Dragon is a delight. There's a whole wall filled with different types of chocolate they also serve coffee and different specialty drinks, like mulled cider. It's also a charming and computer free atmosphere. They have a "social cafe" which means no coming here just to work on a computer for hours.
I love this place. I'm not a coffee, caffeinated tea person. It's not my jam. But I love hot chocolate, especially dark. Majority of places use overly sweet chocolate powder/syrup for their hot chocolate, and it's horrible. This place gives you real hot chocolate in any way you want. I typically get a mix of the bittersweet and classic, and it hits the spot! You taste real dark chocolate and just the right amount of sweetness. Everyone is super nice and I love the vibe they have: super chill and excited to talk about chocolate. I'm super bummed they are closed on Mondays, but they are open all the other days. Also, dragons. Dragons and chocolate hits my whimsical side. Yes, you should come here :).
A go to spot to journal and read! Reasonable limits around laptop use to keep the vibes cozy and prevent people from hogging the few tables that are there. A huge delectable luxurious variety of chocolates. Be ready to invest in quality! Lovely lovely workers, easy to converse with, kind and warm hearted.
if you are looking for gluten free pastries, THIS IS THE BEST BAKERY IN THE EAST BAY. i cannot tell you how many other places i've tried as i'm restricted and i've now found my favorite. the pastry chef here is amazing. pricey but worth every penny (or dollar). thank you, thank you. eve
A true gem in the East Bay. They have a unique assortment of chocolate drinks, and they are all really well executed. Bicerin is a favorite (thick chocolate and espresso). The cafe itself is very cozy and in a nice, walkable area.

Charming and homey little Cafe with a small number of seats. Power and good Wi-Fi available. Fantastic selection of chocolates from local suppliers. Good drinks and a couple of baked goods to eat. Excellent location on college avenue in rockridge.
Amazing unique cafe. Lovely drinks and pastries. Their mocha coffee while not unique is a highlight. The service is good at answering questions but they do seem very concerned with ferrying people in and out. Students- beware!!! This is a no laptop zone on weekends, which is disappointing for local college kids.

Great staff, really good vibes. This place is always full of people relaxing and chatting, which I love. It has a glow. Their all-butter brownies are also amazing. However, and I truly hate to say it... I have been here 3 times and haven't been blown away by the hot chocolate. It's good hot chocolate, but I don'r really taste any of the flavors promised in the descriptions. Regardless, I still come when I'm in the area and I appreciate that they accommodate different types of milk (even drinks that state "whole milk only" on the menu, or something of that nature).

Super expensive Hot chocolate The Mexican hot chocolate was delicious but definitely on expensive side
It’s the local Willy Wonka store. Some fun choices and candy bars. Cool workers. My only gripe is my usual Hot spicy chocolate drink price went way up and the cup size is a joke. It’s what the doctors give you to pee in. So after three good sips it’s all she wrote. I still like the vibe and I know stores need money. But the kid cup sizes are silly.
The chocolate and drinks are great but don’t make up for how rude I’ve found the service both times I’ve been here. The two times were over a year apart because my first experience was so off putting. I tried it again and found that the woman behind the counter (same as last time) was just as rude. As I placed my order, she appeared annoyed, did not thank me or say anything to indicate that I’d completed the transaction and then yelled at me when I went to pick up my order because they don’t bother taking names or indicating whose drinks belong to whom. I won’t bother giving this place a third try.
