This is a chill spot with great food and warm service. In particular, I recommend that tourists visit as Moy is super friendly and will give tips about Oaxaca. Try the huevos a la mexicana and cafe de olla, and leave a nice tip as they work hard but also with a smile.

Highly recommend to eat at Cocina Cempasuchil! Had a super delicious Mole Amarillo empanada, the place had such a chill vibe and the service was amazing with Moy who was super energetic and lively keeping us very entertained.

What an experience! The gracious host, Moy and his attentive nieces provided outstanding hospitality from the moment we sat down. We loved the cinnamon-infused Mexican coffee, cactus salad, and memelas. Moy shared ample local recommendations, including other restaurants and activities. Thank you team, we’ll be back!

Wow — what an absolute gem to stumble upon! We were actually headed somewhere else when the incredible aroma from this place stopped us in our tracks and pulled us right in. The moment we walked through the door, we were greeted with genuine warmth — the staff and owner couldn’t have been kinder. Out back, there’s an unexpected treasure: a vibrant gallery of street art filled with powerful political imagery. Each mural feels alive, offering a raw glimpse into the hearts and minds that continue to drive Mexico’s generational movement. And the food… unreal. The black mole was hands down the best I’ve had in Oaxaca — rich, complex, perfectly balanced — with chicken cooked to absolute perfection. Every bite felt like a love letter to tradition.
