Bovinos Steakhouse in Playa del Carmen truly deserves more than 5 stars. The food, atmosphere, and service are all top-tier, but what made my visit exceptional was Sofia. Her hospitality is on another level — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. She made sure everything was perfect from the moment I arrived until the moment I left and celebrated my lady’s birthday as it’s her family. Sofia went above and beyond to explain the menu, check on us at the right times, and make us feel like valued guests. It’s rare to find service this good. Because of her, Bovinos is now one of my favorite places in PDC, and I’ll definitely be recommending it to everyone and will return every time I’m in the area.

This was the absolute best dining experience we’ve ever had. We were visiting to celebrate my birthday on our last day in Playa Del Carmen. We got the seafood option and had no idea it would be the most amazing 6 or 7 courses lol we lost count! Our server was absolutely wonderful. Professional. Humorous. We laughed all night. He told my sister’s husband he could take a nap and he’d wake him for our next course. Don’t be a rookie like us. Be light on the buffet plates. This is absolutely a once in lifetime experience as I’ve never felt so spoiled. The reviews stating this place is not worth the money or time may be from Inpatient people or those who don’t understand the relaxed environment that should exist here. It took a while for services to start bringing around meats but you absolutely need to pace yourself. The seafood option was $1500ish pesos per person. In total for myself and my partner we spent under $300 usd with gratuity, 2 strawberry margaritas and dessert included in the final price. If you’re visiting playa del Carmen it’s a must! Ohhhh and when we finally gave up trying to finish our food, our server boxed our final courses. Even that was great as each course was group into one container with all four servings. Super helpful as we enjoyed today!

Bovino’s Steakhouse was a really solid experience overall. The steak was good — definitely enjoyable and cooked well — but not something I’d call mind-blowing or the best I’ve ever had. Still, I’d happily order it again. Where this place really stands out is the atmosphere and service. Both were a 5/5. The ambiance is upscale but still comfortable, and the staff absolutely nailed it. They made the whole dining experience feel relaxed and welcoming. Alejandro was a fantastic waiter — attentive, professional, and genuinely friendly. He really elevated the experience, and I hope everyone gets him when they visit.

Manuel was great!! Our server was always helpful and looking upon us. Unfortunately this time the stake options were less than during other visits, tight they brought the ribs and soup, which we didn’t had before. The pineapple with cinnamon and sugar needed to be more grilled. We would love to come back and get a better option of stake. The rest was great.

I am writing this review before eating anything from here. Which I am sure by the pictures will come out great. The issue we had (Christmas eve) was that they had no record of our reservation. Luckily we had screen shots of the confirmation for the reservation. Even then they were difficult in seating us without putting a limit on how long we could be there. The manager did step in and eventually sat us. Unfortunately the only table that was available (I walked the restaurant and there was plenty left) was right next to the door. Being next to the door and lack of AC has made it somewhat uncomfortable in the 10 minutes we have been there. The bread that came out early was delicious. I was surprised that the quality of food was so low compared to the price charged. Upon entering this establishment it appeared well worth however after tasting the selection of food I was very disappointed. The seafood was cooked and most of the dishes on the buffet were very salty or not tasty. The meat selection was not satisfactory. I felt there was more pork available than beef. Our waiter Victor was attentive however most of the staff serving we felt could have been more hospitable easily what they are charging there. I think there is room for improvement.

For the money we had spent in wish the experience was better. It was our honeymoon trips big dinner night and the food was only alright. Not many options for meats were brought around nor did they give us very good cuts. They ask if you like medium or rarer meats but they will give you the driest most over cooked parts. The waiter was informative but almost to an insulting degree. The food was either bland or overdone although the dishes were beautiful, nothing really impressed us. Almost $300 USD for two people and it felt like a scam.

I was told it was $490 peso, their Instagram even says it (scam)..got there it was $770. The only water you can get is $7 Low grade, REALLY over cooked meats. The salad bar was decent. But for 2 people $200 cad...I was blown away. We were so excited to check this place out, unfortunately it fell flat. The offering of the "salad bar" were decent though most of the seafood dishes were overcooked. The drinks were good, service was great. We spent over an hour total the and only one beef dish was brought around, not even steak but a slow cooked brisket. We were offered sausage multiple times, turkey wrapped with bacon, chicken wrapped in bacon, and parmesan pork. None of them were bad but it was clear this was not a real Brazilian Steakhouse as advertised. Spend your money elsewhere.

150 to share for the full experience. The buffet was rotten but wide selection you might have to go early for it. The meat was raw more pig then steak. The seafood was old and mushy expect for the lobester. My boyfriend is a chief and kept saying how the some of the food was rotten. The desserts like the sphere was amazing but the tiramisu had no flavor. Definitely a tourist trap but the presentation and service was amazing. However the food didn’t match the price but the presentation did.

We eat buffet and it was lot of confusion. Hostesses are at the door wasn’t great English. Hardly we communicate then server was same. They charged me (170pezos) $10 for small bottle water. Also tip was added I asked 3 times the server which is Sofia, she said it’s included. Why it’s included? We came only 2 people. It wasn’t 6 or more. Also why I don’t have option to choose my tip amount? So I ended up paying. Almost $100 for 2 people buffet and 1 small bottle water! If you price your menu like USA you need to be restaurant in USA. No English, no clear prices and over charged for plain water! I asked my server (sofia) 170 pesos for small bottle water she smiles and yes. Yes it’s funny Sofia really. Small bottle water $10 I would laugh too. I wouldn’t recommend here at all. Looks like a tourist trap. Do your homework! Edit: 16 February2026 I went to restaurant back again per their response and talked to manager face to face and explained everything. He refunded back automatically charged tip and apologized. I explained everything one by one. He seems understood. They raised their prices recently as well. So if you looking steak house do you home work again and check competitors. Accross the street also ipenema Brazil grill as well just noticed today. You can check out yourself and don’t pay 10USD for 1 water!

Expensive place. They bring good food late to the buffet. Plain small water they charged $10. Also we had a buffet but server charged us $13 tip included in our bill. Server (Sofia) pick her own tip and add it in the bill. They don’t give you option tip your server yourself! Overpriced !

Stay away from this place. Service is terrible. It’s a shame that such a nice restaurant in a prime location is just a tourist trap. Priced at $975 pesos or close to $60 USD, costs are quite average for an upscale steakhouse. The salad bar is great and diverse. Wine selection is just ok. We were a party of eight. We all got our plates from the salad bar and were ready to start with steak. It took a little while to get our first cut. They brought beef ribs. And then nothing. The padre took forever to get to us. We had to ask our waitress repeatedly to keep bringing food. From time to time someone would come with a new spade and serve two or three people in our party and constantly missing people from our table, or bringing meat pieces that were not big enough to share with us all. We asked for the manager. He came and said they would accelerate things, arguing the place was too busy. That wasn’t true, the restaurant was not even half full. The waiting time for food was in some cases, greater than 5 minutes. At some point, after a few bites of meat, you lose your appetite. The price is not worth the experience. — NO VAYAS A ESTE LUGAR. EL SERVICIO ES TERRIBLE. TE HACEN ESPERAR DEMASIADO Y TIENES QUE ROGAR QUE TE SIGAN TRAYENDO CARNE.
