We were in the area and decided to give this farm to table restaurant a try. It was lovely, warm, and delicious! 2 of us had the cod special, another had the bisson cottage pie, and another had the lo mein medium spice and it was perfect. The seafood chowder was the appetizer and an special for the evening and it was also amazing. Cheers to the chef and his delicious dishes and thank you to Heidi , a generous host and server.
My husband and I were in the area doing a baking class and he found Peyton’s Place for dinner. We got there a bit earlier than our reservation and the hostess was so friendly and sat us. We met one of the owners Heidi and she was so lovely and we enjoyed talking with her. The food was incredible, my husband got the cottage pie and I got the seafood special, and we wrapped our evening with a couple of their desserts. It was so fresh and made with such artistry! Between the friendly service, the delicious food, and the ambiance of a 1700s home, we’ll definitely be returning and well worth the drive up!
Wonderful atmosphere, friendly service along with delicious food made our visit to Peyton Place a most enjoyable evening. The owner regaled us with the history of the building and the restaurant itself.

What a culinary delight! The food was amazing. I had the filet mignon, friends had halibut, and lasagna. The atmosphere is so quaint. The service was very attentive and professional. The Cosmopolitan was one of the best! We were all stuffed but indulged in dessert as we knew it'd be amazing! Creme brulee, key lime chiffon pie, and strawberry rhubarb tart. All we could say was omg. So good!! You must check it out we have been missing out. We'll definitely be back.
Chorizo Dumplings and Oysters on the half shell were excellent. Dessert of Strawberry Rhubarb Tart with homemade Vanilla ice cream was delicious.
We had a wonderful pre-Valentines Day dinner! The food, atmosphere, and evening were all well worth the visit. The seafood chowder special was fantastic and the béchamel in the lasagna really brought the dish together. We don’t tend to drink alcohol, so the expansive and thoughtfully curated non-alcoholic drink menu was really appreciated. We had a bottle of sparkling apple cider with our special meal, haha. All in all, a really special evening at a great local restaurant. We look forward to coming back again soon.

Had a lovely evening to eat on the patio! Food was, as always, excellent. I only gave it 4 stars because my lobster scampi didn't have much lobster in it, but otherwise it was delicious. Service was perfect: enough attention, but not intrusive. Courses were perfectly spaced.
I've driven past this restaurant many times over the past few years and looked forward to the opportunity to check it out. It met and exceeded every expectation. Charming interior, delicious food, and great service. We'll definitely be back.
My husband and I went here for date night. I wish I knew the nice woman’s name, she made the experience so nice. Outstanding service, which can be hard to find. Very sweet with a great atmosphere. Best of all, the food was delicious. Crab cakes, lobster salad, and filet were delicious. And you have to try the rolls! Thank you for a wonderful evening! We are lucky to have this restaurant!
First time at Peyton Place. Everyone in our party of 4 enjoyed it immensely. High quality ingredients prepared well with a considerable level of detail but without seeming fussy or pretentious. Well-chosen wine list, comfortable setting & attentive service will also insure our return.

We've been enjoying Peyton Place for about 25 years. Consistently our go-to place for relaxed, high quality dining. Recently we were treated to a custom dinner - celebrating a critical anniversary (of more than 25 years). Sons negotiated a 6 course special as a surprise. Jim went nuts! In his element! Heidi did the orchestration & negotiating. It was outstanding; memorable food, wine, ambiance. Our favorite place.
food and atmosphere better than average. food seved on heated plates. nice surroundings. quick note: i rate based on many parameters as we dine out often. i do not usually write reviews but this time, based on what we spent, i felt the need. we arrived well ahead of our reservation but were seated quickly. odered cocktails but bartender "forgot" to include the dirty rocks specifically asked for with our drinks. most bartenders in this region have no idea what dirty rocks even means. no attempt to remedy, only a weak apology. at nearly $20 each for the 2 drinks I expected this to be done right, hence the lower service rating. we ordered the extra cost roll and butter. the small amount of butter served was not nearly enough. when more was requested, a similar small portion was provided. food arrived in a timely manner. the lasagna portion was huge and served with a side salad. my cod dish had good flavor and presentation but i was somewhat shocked at the price. server was pleasant and attentive. did not order dessert but they did have some unusual choices. facility charged extra fee for using a credit card. though this is becoming more common, i find it kind of gouging. this should be a part of the business's overhead and figured into the price of the meals and operations. not in a hurry to return, but probably will when in the area.
We wanted to try this place out while camping in the area. It looked fancy and had a nice old rustic feel. The place had nice charm to it inside and the putside was pretty. Our waitress was very friendly and spoke highly of the food and how they pride themselves of freshness of the sea food. I ordered the asparagus soup to start. For $9 it did not come with alot of soup in the bowl and bowl just looked empty. We got Halibut plate ($32) and the filet mignon plate ($38). The filet mignon was a thin 1 inch cut, and smothered with sauce so you couldnt even taste the steak. It came with a side of 1 piece of each ; asparagus, carrot, broccoli, and 4 pieces of cut summer squash. The mashed potatoes were good but disappointed with the portion size for what you pay. The halibut plate was mediocre with pesto risotto that was over cooked and again with just a couple vegetables that were undercooked on the plate. For the price we paid for each plate, it left much to be desired.
This is my first google review but I literally do not know what else to do after our dinner here this evening... the staff at this restaurant make you feel like you're in trouble for trying to spend money at their establishment. Heidi IS lovely, which is why we are left so perplexed by the quality of our meal. To start, after we ordered, she asked us if we wanted some dinner to rolls, to which we replied "sure!" only to find a $4 dollar charge for rolls on our bill. Blatant trickery. They do this knowing most people won't complain about $4, but all that means is that my boyfriend complains to ME about it in the car ride home. We ordered a salad and the special lobster pasta to share. We were not starving, but certainly expected more than a few bites each per dish. Wrong! the salad was wet, floppy and tasteless. The pasta tasted slightly less offensive but was.... I wish I was exaggerating.... 6 forkfulls in its entirety. My boyfriend and I ate our meager servings in silence, fearfully glancing over our shoulders to see if we were being watched and/or pranked. The entire experience was so strange that we compulsively replied "yes!" when Heidi collected our empty plates and asked if we enjoyed "every" bite. I wish I said "all six of 'em!" I should also mention we tried to come here two nights prior. Google says the restaurant stays open until 8:30pm, we arrived at 7:45 and were immediately told to leave because the chef was "done." I saw another potential customer mention she was given the same treatment and wondered if it was due to her being black. Without arguing that possibility, we can vouch that they do just turn you away well before their posted closing time. We're not even mad... just confused and all the more baffled after reading so many positive reviews. If you and your partner have nothing to talk about and $200 to blow on tiny morsels, give this place a shot.
The atmosphere is lovely, a bit cold, I had to keep my coat on (december 2024). The menu: a pretentious description of the plates with little to show for it. I ordered the lobster and feta salad. It came with hardly any lobster at all. When I mentioned the paucity of the lobster to the waitress, I was told in an arrogant tone that for the price ($18) that's all they can do. Why not charge a little more and have a decent plate? And charging extra for a bun! Anyway, my general impression is that the restaurant wants to be upscale but does it on a cheap way. It wants to be French. It's neither French nor impressive. Not a restaurant I will come back to.
