The service was top notch, told the cashier it was our first time there and he made us a sample platter to help us decide. Everything was delicious but we went with the brown stew. Price and portion are unmatched

We loved the vegan oxtail, black rum cake and spinach Caribbean patty! Staff was super friendly, our portion was good and the patty perfect 😁

I love love love Jam-Eng! I work downtown and eat there regularly. The service is always wonderful, and the food is always on point. I hosted a Juneteenth party at my house, and decided to cater from here. I got jerked chicken, curry chicken, brown stew chicken, peas & rice, and plantains. They made me SO MUCH FOOD! And it was so good! We had about 50 people and they tore that food up and raved about it! And the prices are very fair! 10/10 recommend, and I will def be catering from them again!

Finding this place was such a treat, it is such a hidden gem! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with the warmest welcome by the friendly staff. We tried several dishes from their menu, and I must say, everything was absolutely delicious! My personal favorites are the oxtail, the Jamaican Beef Patty, and the Mac and cheese. If you're a fan of oxtail or curious, you really must try it here - it's cooked to perfection! And don't get me started on their Jamaican Beef Patty - it's so flavorful and the patties are always made fresh, they're one of their most popular items. One thing to note, though - make sure you get here early because their patties are so good that they always run out fast! But even if you miss out on the patties, there are plenty of other amazing options to choose from. The Mac & cheese pairs really well with all of their entrees, but all of their sides are great. The staff and manager were so sweet and passionate about what they do, which added to the overall experience. I can't wait to come back and try even more dishes from their menu!

The best Caribbean food I’ve tasted (and I’ve had some good Caribbean food lately)I got the $5 express Curry meal and Mac but they were out of MAC so the cashier gave me two patties instead… a welcomed replacement. Adding this to my list of suggestions for people visiting Orlando. I’d face that I-4 traffic to be able to eat here again.

Friend and I were looking to grab dinner before drinks and the smell of this place lured us in. I had the jerked chicken with rice & peas & cabbage.... Meat was falling off the bone. 🤤 The woman working the counter was so friendly and welcoming.

One of the best places I have had since moving to Orlando. I work across the street and have driven by countless times. This weekend, I finally took a chance and order. *Best. Decision. Ever.* The food: some of the most flavorful and well prepared I've had in a long time. You can taste the care and love put into the dishes across the board. When I tell you that you'll feel at home at the first bite, I mean it. It's like a hug. The staff and owners: They immediately make you feel like family. They are so kind and work so hard to ensure your experience with them is fantastic whether you're dining in or out. If you haven't stopped in, you should. They greet you like you've been coming in for years. Overall, I love this place and now that I've tried it, it's a staple of my lunch and dinner meals whether I'm on or off the clock.

Hands down the best Vegan Yard style food in Orlando. Big Up the Big Man Wayne.

K

It was ALRIGHT. Had the jerk chicken entree. A bit bland, and while I don't expect them to be cooking the food to order, it certainly didn't taste fresh. Like, a few days old and/or frozen and reheated. It's a shame, because I want to like it, and have a good, Caribbean spot downtown. On the plus side, the portion was good for $12. I'll try it again, but will opt for the vegan drumsticks next time, as that seems to be a hit with many. Hopefully it will be with me too. Edit: Came in with my kids, me and my oldest had the curry chicken, youngest had the vegan drums. All was EXCELLENT. We will be returning. Thank you!!!

The atmosphere in this place is admittedly not the vibe whatsoever but the food is immaculate and I come here almost every time I'm downtown. Never in my life did I think I'd be able to have vegan/vegetarian Caribbean food.

This is a small but intimate place. And the food was delicious. I definitely reccomend if you are in Orlando downtown area that you try this establishment. I had the curry chicken mini meal/lunch special. Alot of food for only 4.99! Curry chicken, rice & peas, steamed cabbage and carrots and potatoes! There was a little (instrumental) jazz music playing outside. The waitress Mrs.MoBay was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu and the specials! The chef was also nice and job well done on cooking that chicken just right.. tender and flavorful! And The veggies had the perfect texture of crisp! Not to hard, not too soft! Not over seasoned! Great job Jam'Eng!

When we tell you the smell was everything…amazing scents filled the air as we walked pass . We had no choice but to explore where the scrumptious scent was coming from, and BOOM. JAM ENG was there. Had the oxtail and the curry goat. Me and my wife loved the hospitality to match the wonderful food the cooks worked to prepare for us. STRONGLY RECOMMEND others to enjoy their dishes. I’ll be back to get some fish😉

I ordered the shrimp with rice and cabbage from Island Vibes Kitchen, and it was hands down one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. The shrimp were perfectly cooked juicy, seasoned just right, and covered in a flavorful buttery jerk sauce that had the perfect amount of heat. The rice and peas were soft and aromatic, soaking up the shrimp sauce beautifully without being too heavy. But the cabbage really surprised me — it was tender with a light crunch and seasoned just enough to complement the rest of the plate. Everything came out hot and fresh, and the portion size was generous enough to share, though I didn’t want to. The service was friendly and laid-back, and the entire meal felt like it was made with care. If you’re in the mood for something full of flavor but a little lighter than jerk chicken, this shrimp plate is definitely worth it.

Best Authentic Jamaican restaurant, downtown Orlando. Pap-and-mom business, grab and go or sit and chill, music jaming, you'll feel right down there on vacation the minute you step in. Of course, they also offer vegetarian and vegan options.

So some of my friends told me about this place a while back, and I had to see for myself. It was sooooo good!!!! They have 5$ express meals and they get you right, at a good price. I've had the stew chicken, and the curry chicken, both with rice and peas. It's delicious. And the service is a plus too. They're friendly and outgoing people there. Try it!!!

The most authentic Caribbean food you’ll ever have. The music will serenade you and give you glimpses of what it’s like to float in the ocean off the coast of the Caribbean Sea. The customers all leave with smiles on their faces and the staff is as kind and humble as can be. I will come here until I am 178 years old. Give this place a try. NOW!

New to Orlando—walking on side walk—passed the restaurant door, that was opened—smelled incredible Caribbean food smells—and was so excited when I entered the restaurant & saw, that they have—fresh beef & vegetable patties for purchase, as well as, other Jamaican fare! During my vacation I visited here a few times. The food was delicious, music was right & the vibe were there. The jerk chicken, oxtail, rice & cabbage was amazing! They are open really late when you're needing something besides fast food. The mimosas was a great touch while we waited. Food did take a lot longer than I expected. Will definitely visit again when I'm in town.

The food was damn good -- full of flavor, nicely seasoned, and cooked just right. I'd definitely order it again, but you really need to serve larger portions. $20 USD fi 2 small food and a Bigga soda -- it's not bad, but honestly, I feel like I could get a bit more value for that price elsewhere. The portion size just didn't match what I expected based on how it's listed. Also, you might want to update your DoorDash menu, because what exactly is "express serving"? When I ordered it, I thought I was paying for two large meals, since the label looked different from the "small" option. It was confusing, and I only realized after receiving the order. Still, props to the chef -- the food was on point! Just a little menu clarity and bigger portions, and it would've been perfect.

The service is hit or miss sometimes but for the most part everyone is pretty cool. I always get the oxtails with rice and peas which are my favorite. So delicious and filling. Sometimes they are a little short with the amount of meat they serve on the plate , but the food is always very tasty.

Love how good the food is. Smells so good from far…. Well recognized spot. Jerk chicken is flavorful but not spicy alone. Grace pepper sauce >>>>. It hits the spot. Hits the wallet just right too. Late night J’can food is a labor of love. We got the express meal… I did jerk she did brown strew. I can’t wait to try the breakfast here. Roti may be the future Outside of that ? It’s for sure so good. Bone??? 🦴soft yf!!! Pepper sauce ???perfect.

I was drawn in by their 5 dollar express meals, and I was pretty pleasantly surprised. For 5 bucks I got 3 pieces of jerk chicken and a bed of rice. It was pretty tasty and I like the concept behind their express meals. It was pretty good, but nothing mind blowing. I also had the Jamaican cream soda and it was odd. It was just bitter, not sure if it was supposed to be like that, and I would understand more if it was, but as of now I wasn't a huge fan of the soda. I hope to come here again and try some more of the menu in the future.

I liked the chicken. It was convenient and flavourful. The spinach patty was nice, but the other veggie one was a bit bland. I think this is a nice place for a quick lunch

W

Food was fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the jerked chicken sandwich. My guest had the curry chicken lunch and was a bit overwhelmed by the large portion---ended up enjoying leftovers for dinner! The server was very friendly and kindly supplied us with samples while we were ordering; later checked on us to make sure we were enjoying the meal. It was a little noisy the day we visited, because the doors were open for fresh air. Instead of fresh air, we found out a lot of people in Orlando need new mufflers . . . We will be back, probably for a to-go order!

I have had this place a few times and the jerk chicken is always good. Decided to try some Mac and cheese this time as well and it was very disappointing. $5 for a small side of Mac and cheese that seemed and tasted like it was out of a Kraft box. Left much to be desired. Jerk chicken was still great though.

A

I tried Jam-Eng Jamaican and English Cuisine and ordered the jerk chicken sandwich, which was about $10–$11. Overall, it was pretty good! The bread stood out it was super soft and fluffy, which I loved. The chicken itself was well-seasoned and sauced, but I do wish there had been a little more of chicken on the sandwich. Even with that, the flavor was solid, and it definitely made me want to come back and try more of their menu. I’d recommend giving this spot a try if you’re in the area and craving Jamaican flavors.

The service was good. The young lady who assisted us was nice and brought the food over to our table. The Jamaican patty and Coco bread was good, but I have had better. The jerk chicken was really good and had the perfect amount of spicy and sauce. The rice however was under cooked and hard. I loved the music they played while we ate. Overall it was okay and I might give it a second chance if I came down this way again.

Food was great and place was clean, but we ordered a large oxtail stew and it only came with 5 small pieces of oxtail! For $20, I expect more than five bites of meat. The patties were delicious and the food itself was good, just wish that there was more meat as I’m not paying $20 for rice and peas.

The food is ok. Great price. The patties are really good.

On a scale 1-10 I give them a 6 maybe a 7. The reviews about the amount of food they give are true, its just enough but definitely no comparison to how much more Im accustomed to getting in South Florida at Caribbean Restaurants . There's nowhere to park so you either have to park in a garage or hope you wont get ticketed parking on the street. Chances are slim that I would go back.

This with 2 beef patties…$30?!! Quality good, Quantity wtf… the food taste great the serving size will have you disappointed the whole time for the amount you spend, got 3 small pieces of jerk chicken.

This place was ok the service wasn’t that great because the lady taking our order was kind of rude and didn’t want to answer our questions. My friend and I shared the curried chicken and jerk chicken sandwich. The jerk chicken sandwich was really good but the curried chicken was just alright it could have been a lot spicier. This place does have good prices though it wasn’t that expensive and our food came out quickly

Ordered from here a few times, tend to get the same thing never had an issue other than food was a bit bland. Today however was the first time being able to get their “baked Mac n cheese” idk what pasta this is or what they did to it but it straight taste like water. Like they reheated it with pasta water. It wasn’t even consumable. Mind you this was $5.

Jam Eng ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/6/2023 Recommend? Ehhh. I would say that for the price there are probably better options in the area. I got the vegan "jerk" wings with rice and cabbage. The wings tasted like lightly bbq wings. In no way did it taste like it had jerk seasoning. Adding hot sauce to everything helped out this mediocre dish.

They don't actually have a lot of what's on their menu. They have the Jamaican food, which is great, but they don't have the more "English" items such as British chips or baked beans. I went in and tried to order them and the person at the counter had no idea what I was talking about. Jamaican food is great (I ended up ordering some veggie patties), but please update your menu if you no longer serve certain items.

Update (2026) I’ve decided to stop going here for the foreseeable future due to the poor customer service I keep getting. I called in my order and was told it would be another 5 minutes when I arrived. I asked for an update later and was told that they didn’t have the vegan drumsticks available. This happens often but I’ve never been told this AFTER I paid for my order. The manager (Lindsey?) offered me a different meal. I said I would take it but I would not pay full price for a meal that I didn’t order and would have to wait even longer. The manager was unwilling to do anything for the inconvenience. No partial refund, coupon, not even a simple apology. I requested a full refund and she told me she couldn’t do it because I paid with Apple Pay and she didn’t have access. She asked me to COME BACK THE NEXT DAY to do it. At that point it had been 45 minutes since I placed my order and I left. I got a number from one of the signs in the restaurant and thankfully the Owners set up a delivery for me to receive my meal and processed my refund. The food is great but the service needs a lot of work. — I’ve been coming for years. While there’s a running sentiment among kinfolk that you may not get top tier service when you order good carribbean food, sometimes I need a break when my experience keeps falling below expectations. I eat plant based and I’ve never been able to access the full vegan menu because they are constantly out of things. I usually end up just getting the drums because it’s the most consistent item for my diet. Sometimes they are overcooked or undercooked. Their turnover seems high so I may get a new lady who is warm and helpful or someone who doesn’t seem interested.

I made a pick up order over the phone. When I got there it was late and very hectic full of drunk people. I feel like they could do more to be more organizing the lines but . The people servicing were still nice and patient and try their best. Jerk chicken plate was good right peas and rice for a little dry and the reason why I gave up three starts is because the mac & cheese was not it . It does not look like the pictures it tasted like kraft mac & cheese no seasoning and not baked at all

i’ve been here twice. the first time I ordered oxtails w/ rice & peas. the flavor was good, however I got straight bones and gravy when it came to the oxtails. not worth the price at all. the second time I ordered jerk chicken & got bbq chicken instead. I would only come here for their patties & that’s it.

Came here for lunch. Food was drowning in salt! Wrote a message to the owner who apologized and offered a free meal. Came for the free meal. The cashier had a serious attitude and the free meal had one small ox tail., a boatload of rice and cabbage. Wish I could recommend this place but the quality of everything has diminished!!

Ordered four curry goat plates and one oxtail plate to go… drove about 30 minutes to get there. Got to the room to dig in and the curry goat was so salty as if it was an accident seasoning. It was not edible with the amount of salt… Highly disappointed…

Overall, not thrilled with the amount of jerk chicken I received for lunch. I had to cut through a lot of skin and bone to get not a lot of chicken. Then was told the two sides I ordered, mac and cheese and white rice, were really one side with pasta, that I didn't order. Beware, the mac and cheese is not a side item, it's another additional charge. But, the chicken did have some serious kick! That saved this review from being one star.

Went there for a little dinner and it wasn't that good. Disappointed about the overcooked cabbage that lost its color, the rice had little to no beans and was soggy with excess gravy. The jerk wasn't the best, looked like the remains of dark stew chicken. Also most of the menu item wasn't available at 645pm. The attendant needs to be a little more knowledgeable as well. The drinks were reasonably priced but surely you guys can do better on the meal I mentioned above.

Unwelcoming. Underwhelming. Dry. Sad & Salty. I just wanted a nice meal on my birthday. Instead I WASTED money on unspecial rubbish and meager meat portions. I was considering hiring them for catering my wedding...and after my first impression, I would rather have ANYTHING ELSE. I was trying to introduce my husband to my culture through trying this "cuisine " and I had to STOP HIM! Are you morally ok with charging Nearly $30 for 3 BARE BONES above potatoes swimming in oil? Embarrassing. This is as much Caribbean for Caribbean people as Taco Bell is for Mexicans. Shame on you. Caribbean card REVOKED. UPDATE:I found a better place, I hope anyone who reads this tries CARIBBEAN SUNSHINE BAKERY . The oxtail and jerk chicken was much more for your money and the flavors were NOT fake ½-trash wannabe Caribbean-style Cuisine but actual flavors and spices that reminded me of Grenanda & Guyana ( my heritage)

Just walked in to patron the establishment, and a rude black, short female walked in behind the counter, stating that she wasn't taking any orders. I attempted to get clarification by asking if the place was closed. She IGNORED me. I politely left and went next door to pick up my order from Loading Zone. I was just attempting to try them out, but I'll go where my coins and presence are appreciated. Thanks, but no thanks.

First time eatin here. I ask for plate of Curry Goat which cost me 20 plus dollars. Instead I got rice, gravy, and bunch of bones. Very disappointing 👎🏽 Not worth it I see why they was empty

If I could give it zero stars, I would. My boyfriend and I were served REAL meat after telling the cashier multiple times we are vegan. She even admitted to the vegan option looking like real meat. Usually my boyfriend and I are pretty good about telling the difference but after receiving confirmation from the establishment that we had nothing to worry about, we thought we could trust them. After driving home, and eating the food, we discovered the food we were served was indeed not vegan, but REAL meat. I threw up multiple times. After calling the establishment, they confirmed we were served the wrong food and their excuse was that there was a new cook in the kitchen. We were promised a full refund and the proper food on arrival to the restaurant, only to drive back to be given the option of the food OR a PARTIAL refund…. What a waste of time, could have been done over the phone. Then as we were waiting to get the refund, we saw others check through their food to make sure they had the proper food they ordered. This made us realize this establishment had probably given out wrong orders before! What a joke. Very disappointed, please do better!!!

Horrible service e very standoffish and rude like they didn't care. Sandwich is mostly bread and bbq sauce really not worth it for the price.

T

Im beyond disappointed with this restaurant. My husband and I have ordered from them quite a few times over the years and we used to love them. First our order was missing items and we let it slide, human error. Now they’re charging you meal prices for and for single items. Specifically the vegan jerk drums that use to come with rice and peas, cabbage and 4 jerk drum; now it’s only the drums for the same price. Thats ridiculous. Secondly, answering the phone seems to be an issue as well. Please do better

DO NOT EAT HERE!!!! This place claims to have vegan options, and we even told our server five times that we are vegan. We were served meat, and the server told us it was vegan. My girlfriend got sick and threw up multiple times. After speaking to the establishment, they admitted they gave us meat and only gave us a partial refund. NEVER EAT HERE!!!! The food was also mid.

T
Tanasha Edwards

DO NOT recommend! Ordered a large plate only 4 oxtails for a large plate unacceptable the oxtails pieces were very tiny also they’re not flavored good while I was picking up my order another customer was inside complaining about the small amount of meat mostly bones in his plate for a large order as well

h

Absolutely disappointed and shocked by the food I was thrown from here. I ordered to go, so I might give this place another chance because the reviews are pretty decent 🤔I ordered the Jamaican patties that we're just spicy mush and a cheddar broccoli soup that was appalling

A

DO NOT EAT the Jerk Chicken Sandwich unless you plan on nearly dying from choking on bones. There was more bones than chicken in the sandwich that they should just call it the Chicken Bone and Jerk Sauce Sandwich. This place is terrible, do not eat here. It’s a shame it’s in the middle of downtown, it needs to be replaced with a good Jamaican spot. Complete waste of money.

C

I spent $23 on the oxtail stew and got 5 peices of oxtail that was so tuff it wasn't edible. Then i got 2 mac and cheese that yall charge $6 for thats only noodles and imitation cheese thats not even worth the price yall are charging. Rice and peas ok cabbage no flavor. The curry chicken was ok for the most part but you can tell yall didn't fry the curry first. Sorry but this will be the first and last time I order from here.

M
Mark Williams

Got the curry chicken and white rice and it’s more bone than chicken. I probably won’t be back because I feel as I wasted my money. Asked the guy what else comes with my white rice and chicken and he said nothing but it came with nasty cabbage which I am upset because I could have swapped it for something else. What a waste of money!!! (Just bone in the picture)

I would not recommend this establishment to anyone due to its extremely slow service and poor food quality. After waiting 10 minutes to place my order, I was attended to by a friendly yet slow counter staff. I had traveled an hour to visit this location, expecting exceptional food. However, they only had one vegetable Jamaican patty available and declined to prepare more. I ordered a spinach patty and three curry chicken patties, all of which had insufficient filling. I also tried to order their shrimp meal. And again I was told that they don’t have that for the day. Why would they have all of these items listed on their menu if they don’t have it prepared or they can’t prepare it for the day? Given the poor quality, the price of three dollars per patty is not reasonable.

K
Katherine Taylor

Plantains were not good at all with no taste. Chicken and rice was just spicy with no seasoning if that makes sense.

D
Deanne Leach

This establishment had no soap in the bathroom. When asked to provide soap, they offered hand sanitizer. It should have been a warning. I still went ahead with my order and had the Vegan drums. It made me sick to my stomach. My husband had the oxtail and my son had the brown stew. The brown stew had no brown stew flavor. It taste more like beef jerky. My husband paid $20 for a large ox tail plate and it was a tiny portion.

Worst customer service i went in around 11:47 and brought up after awhile that our food wasn’t done. they tried to convince me that i didn’t order and that and had to basically force to get my food. I’ve had so many good times here but this time was crazy i didn’t get my food until 12:30

Worst Jamaican spot in Orlando only thing good was the patties …this is not baked mac and cheese it’s kraft out the box…gave me 2 pieces of oxtails smh…rice is hard….the taste is bland tried to give them the benefit of the doubt because my first experience wasn’t good either but seems like it got worst. Never again
