Opinions de Autentico Oyster Bay
Even though Oyster Bay is off the beaten path this hidden gem is worth the trip. Just as the name states Autentico is authentic Italian. You can truly taste the freshness of the ingredients. Service and food is outstanding.
Thursday early evening dinner with my wife. Roberto & Antonio were princes. Explaining the menu in detail. Had a beautiful bottle of wine suggested by Roberto from Sicily. It was lite and great flavorful and robust paired well with my veal topped with cotto Italian ham cheese and cauliflower. My wife had McQueeney with clam sauce, which was very very good not your traditional white clam sauce. Don’t miss the appetizer of artichokes to die for! Great ambience the restaurant itself as beautiful. Antonio, I notice working so hard, making sure that all the glasses on the tables were free from anything. I guess that he thought it was foreign.. We will be back my understanding is that they change the menu seasonally, which is really anything to do also, Alani nu wines with the season as well
We ate here last night, and the food and service were fantastic! It felt like we were actually eating at a place in Italy. The appetizer and entrees were expertly prepared (the baccala, papardelle bolognese, and pasta special with prosciuttoand peas); the dessert was out of this world (we had the cream puff with cannoli cream and fresh fruit). The service was attentive, and the timing was right throughout, not sure why prior reviews were complaining - this is relaxed dining, not McDonald's! Thank you for bringing a piece of Sicily to Oyster Bay. We will definitely be back!
By far the best food I have ever eaten . I drove from Manhattan and rented a car to go to this restaurant. Really worth it!!! The food was spectacular, the service perfect. The desserts were incredible. The experience was intimate, and friendly. If I could give this restaurant more stars I would.
I had dinner at Autentico to celebrate an important occasion. I couldn't have chosen better. Autentico is a cozy, romantic, filled with love, place. Chef Pecoraro didn't just cook an amazing dinner, but took us to a culinary, cultural trip to Sicily. We could even smell the flavors of the region, and it was truly rewarding. Manager Zac was impeccable, like the service. I highly recommend Autentico for an exceptional culinary experience.
Lovely little Italian restaurant! The decor was so charming, and the staff was very nice. We had an amazing authentic italian meal - we had the eggplant parmiggiano which was delicious, and the crispy lemony artichoke hearts are a MUST try! We then got the spaghetti with clams and the osso bucco ravioli. Both were clearly homemade pasta which is always a plus! Portions are nice and small (how it is in Italy!) , and the clam dish had my favorite type of clams (the tiny ones I would get in the Amalfi Coast!). Amazing selection of desserts - one of the best tiramisu's I have ever had. Can't wait to return and try more dishes from Chef Francesco.
Went for dinner on St.Joseph's day hoping for authentic pasta con sarde. Man, it was truely the real deal. Absolutely delicious . This after a memorable eggplant appetizer. However, the best was yet to come. The homemade St.Josephs pastry was unbelievable. So good in fact I would drive the 35 miles to go back just for dessert !! This is one of only a few must go to restaurants on my list.
"Autentico" is a daring name for an Italian restaurant, but this place is daringly living up to the name! Everything was delicious in this little gem in Oyster Bay. The Pappardelle Bolognese was "authentic." The Branzino was delicious and was generously portioned. And the desserts...wow - the chef's specialty! We tried the Cannolo and the Sfingi with chantilly cream. Both were outstanding, and felt like you were back in Sicily. One dessert was enough for 2, but we ordered 2, and both were outstanding. Our waiter, Zach, was such a riot and comedian. Zach brought warmth to this cute little restaurant. Such a nice place to bring a date. My girlfriend and I will definitely be back here! We would love to see an expansion of pastas on the menu to also cover more northern parts of Italy. I am confident that if the chef brought pastas such as cacio e pepe, carbonara, amatriciana, while more roman, to the menu, he would do a fantastic job. Torneremo subito!
Fantastic dining experience. The dinner blew us away and desert managed to be even better. An absolute must if you’re in the area.
Excellent food, wonderful quality. Great authentic and fresh made dishes. I would definitely visit again!
There a more limited menu, however everything is homemade, all appetizers, main entres, pastas and desserts except the gelato. I had a fresh pasta vongole that was excetioally tastey and a delicious salad. My dining companions had a pasta with a meat and mushroom sauce and a mushroom risotto. All of the desserts were excellent. The restaurant is small and intimate but is a lovely place to dine. Reservations are a must.
It’s very high quality food , made by the chef that comes Sicily , everything is freshly cooked . From appetizers to the dessert . Always a beautiful presentation , I highly recommend this restaurant
We have been loyal customers of Autentico for many years and for good reason. Chef Francesco is a true master of his craft, serving some of the best Sicilian and Italian dishes this side of the Atlantic- particularly the spaghetti alle vongole. The desserts are works of art and purely spectacular. bravissimo!
What can I say. An amazing experience start to finish. I did the reservation through Google but called and a friendly welcoming voice answered. Angelo was accommodating and said “Yes, we would be more than happy to bring you in earlier”. On arrival we were met with smiling, friendly staff. Made us feel at home. Well, the decor fits the mold as well. Zach, Angelo and the guys could not have been more attentive than what they were. Explained the menu, paired the food. Their taste buds were at their best recommendations. So we started with the Salad and Artichoke and moved on to the Bolognese and Ravioli, the evening ended with the perfect deserts. This is a little touch of Italy and huge touch of home. Thank you for the dining experience. It’s worth the hour and half drive from Jersey. Tito and Patricia
Wow, just wow. Can't believe we waited so long to try this place, literally minutes from or home. Name says it all. Reminded us of places we ate in Italy. Great atmosphere. Head waiter Zach was wonderfully entertaining and attentive. Funny, great personality. Food was absolutely outstanding. Tough to make a choice from the mouth watering menu. Shared the eggplant parm appetizer. My wife had the pappardelle with the legendary bolognese. I had the veal osso buoco stuffed ravioli. All were absolutely delicious. Chef is an award winning pastry chef as well, dessert was great. Terrific wines, just an overall wonderful experience. We will be back soon! Highly recommend this absolute gem. Menu changes seasonally, can't wait to try other dishes.
I cannot express how delicious the food is. We leave the restaurant shaking our head at the truly amazing food we just ate. Chef Francesco creates authentic Sicilian dishes that will transport you to the island itself. In fact, we were in Sicily two years ago and we kept laughing at how the food wasn't as mind-blowing as Chef Francesco's. Our latest addictions are the baked artichokes and the parmesan flan-like dish. Oh, dear, God, they are mind-blowing. And the wine list is superb and the desserts are out-of-this-world. Go and eat here!
Among the finest Italian fare to be had anywhere. This smallish spot in the heart of Oyster Bay just keeps delivering the freshest, most inspired dishes I've ever found. Eating here is a gastronomic treat not to be missed!
We celebrated my wife’s birthday at Autentico last night. Everything was superb and delicious. From the presentation to the taste, both dinner and dessert were fabulous! The Legendary Bolognese never disappoints. Service was kind courteous, and helpful in answering any questions we had about the menu. A truly memorable evening. Thank you.
Consistently blown away. I know I can count on chef to deliver so whenever I want to impress someone, I come here. This is the place where you come to savor…not just the food but the people you come with and the time you spend here. It’s not just dinner. It’s an authentic experience. The menu is changing for whatever is in season. We ordered the vegan zucchini polpette, eggplant parmigiana and selection of meat and cheeses to start followed by the bolognese, spaghetti vongole and branzino. For dessert we ordered the biscotti, chocolate torte, raspberry tart and the sfinci donut. 100/10 Highly recommend.
The staff is amazing!!! The waiters were very friendly and professional, offering great suggestions on what to order. Overall the service was great. To eat we started off with the Piadina which was served with a good portion of prosciutto. Highly recommend it as it is a great starter. For our entrees we had the excellent special Grilled Swordfish and the spaghetti with clams. You can tell that the chef takes his time when preparing the food! Overall the food and service was great. Autentico is definitely worth the trip to Oyster Bay and I will definitely be returning!
It was not just a meal but an amazing culinary experience,a trip to the flavors and the tastes of Sicily. We really enjoyed food and felt the passion that chef Francesco puts in each dish. He is truly an amazing chef and I wanna thank him for preparing an absolutely extraordinary dinner for us.
Great service! Everyone is so helpful and welcoming (for example, we ordered dessert to go and they gave us metal spoons to go as they don't stock plastic spoons! ) The eggplant parmigiane is a must try. Very cute interior with a romantic atmosphere.
This perhaps the best Italian restaurant in the whole long Island. First off, you better call and make reservations, other wise, you will leave disappointed. The antipasti excellent and extremely high quality meat. The bolognese papadelle is a must. The vongle pasta wows me. My favorite was the seafood antipasti...It was well worth the hour drive to get here. The services is friendly and top of the class. The ambience is very comfortable to dine in. We had a great time celebrating triple March bday with family and friends.
Amazing food! Totally “authentic“ Italian dishes. A really unique dining adventure
Chef Francesco served us some of the most authentic italian dishes we have ever had, no pun intended. Everything was extremely fresh and flavorful. Service was professional and polite. Must try the grilled branzino as an entree and the award winning strachhino for dessert, you won't be dissapointed!!
Cute little spot in Oyster Bay, with outstanding food and top-notch service. My date and I shared a meat & cheese platter for an appetizer, and then for the main course she got the veal ossobucco ravioli and I got the pappardelle Bolognese. Everything was delicious and so filling, but I made sure to save some dessert. I tried one of the dessert specials - a cannoli donut, and it was even better than it sounds. 10/10 would go again.
OMG!!!!! THE BEST FOOD AROUND! If I could give it a 10🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I would. In fact, I just did! Delicious Sicilian food from a great Sicilian Chef!!!! An ABSOLUTE MUST taste experience!
Amazing, my dad and my favorite restaurant on Long Island. Fresh, with great owners, employees, and a wonderful chef in Francesco. This is not a La Parma style joint, this is coastal fresh funky Rimini dining.
Amazing food, great service. Would definitely go back again. Awesome waiter.

Best fresh made Italian pasta dishes in Long Island
We've dined at Autentico many times, but recently had the pleasure of hosting our daughter's baptism there—and it exceeded every expectation. James and the entire team were absolutely incredible. From start to finish, James made the planning process effortless: he helped curate the perfect menu, recommended amazing wines to complement each dish, and made sure everything ran smoothly. The Chef even arranged a stunning cake that was the perfect finishing touch. Having the entire restaurant to ourselves for our group of about 30 made the celebration feel so personal and intimate, all within a beautifully decorated space. As someone who already loved this restaurant, I was still blown away by how flawless and delicious everything was that day. Without a doubt, 10/10 recommend for both everyday dining and special occasions. Autentico truly delivered an unforgettable experience!
Recently dined in with my family of 4, and will definitely be returning. The portion sizes are great, and this really is some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had in NY. The entire staff is excellent. Antonio specifically was so kind and gracious enough to explain the menu in great detail. Give the kid a raise!
If you're looking for the best Italian dining experience in the neighborhood, look no further! Autentico, which means authentic in English, delivers food that rivals any meal you'd enjoy in Italy. Don't miss out on this gem; I highly recommend it!
Highly, highly recommend this gem! Came here for dinner with a large party and had the BEST service & hospitality. James really went out of his way to make sure we all enjoyed ourselves and felt comfortable. The food is some of the best Italian on Long Island!!! 10/10 would recommend & we will be back!
Went to Autentico with my wife the other night on a recommendation from a close friend. Very friendly service and staff and the food was excellent. I particularly enjoyed my spaghetti with clams. The closest we have had since our honeymoon in Italy. We were told the chef is from Italy and that makes sense I can’t there is just something different about the way it was prepared. Would highly recommend!

I would start saying that it is an excellent Italian restaurant. The food is amazing , high quality and the atmosphere is perfect with a really good waitering service. Perfect place for a date or to experience true Italian food. Few things that could be improved are : 1. would be nice to have a menu with relative prices on the website 2. The 3% tax applied if you pay with credit card was a little annoying , but I have heard that some places started doing it. Other than that really great experience !
It's the real deal. Menu changes every month. Something for everyone. Even a few vegan options. Food is exceptional. Though, tonight my homemade pasta with zucchini and prawns was very over salted. Other than that, a superb experience. Truly feels like this restaurant should be in Manhattan.
The atmosphere was cute and intimate with flowery decorations and bright white decor. The waiter was friendly and explained every dish on the menu. The bolognese I had was nice - the noodles were broad and chewy and the meat had a nice flavor to it. The portion size was not overwhelming but filling enough. A literal hoard of women celebrating a birthday party came in shortly after we arrived, and caused annoying cacophony in the restaurant. I could not hear my friends easily until we left the restaurant. Be prepared for expensive prices. Most entrees are $20-35 and salads are ~$10-15.

Food was exceptional delicious and a wonderful taste of Sicily. Service was deplorable the waiter was unprofessional and curt. His service was below par and did not match the class of the restaurant and the superb food that was served. We went here with our friends and at the end of dinner two desserts came out first and the other dessert came out and was served 20 minutes later then we were asked to leave because others were waiting for our table. Waiter was more concerned with turning tables than having satisfied customers. The food would keep me coming back if it were not for the waiter and poor service we received. The menu is so special and dishes are so creative wait staff should be like artists when describing it. Service was not any different than going to a pizza joint.
Dinner and dessert was good but the service…..not so much. You need a manager on the floor, not just waiters and busboys. No one asked about my appetizer or main course. No one asked if I wanted more wine. No one refilled my water glass. A restaurant needs equal amounts of good food, good service and a nice atmosphere. Autentico needs a little help. I’ll go back…..someday.

we must have been there on an off night because even though the food was fine the waitress was probably the worst ive ever had. She was nasty impatient sarcastic and stressed out as well. The chef was friendly and a decent cook but she ruined our expensive experience. I would recommend getting more seasoned help. Nobody wants to see a stressed out and angry waitress. There are hundreds of choices and i will never go back.
Didn't love the menu. Very authentic with no room for substitutions. My bolognese was extremely salty and very tasteless. Gave it two stars only because the waiter was super friendly. My wife's fish soup was outstanding though. Not my kind of place
We gave Autentico a second try at with an other couple. It took 50 minutes for the waiter to take our order. When he finally took our order he was very impatient and dismissive. The appetizers were actually good but the main course was not up to the expectation ( spaghetti with claims in a mare chiara sauce ). The dish was very bland and Ill pared. Desserts were okay...but then again the waiter was so nasty and arrogant that we could not get to understand what were all the choices We sat at 7.30 pm and left the restaurant at 11.15 pm!! Luckily the company was good ! One more thing: we were charged a credit card convenience fee. We realized that when we got home and while we understand that this is an allowed practice in NY, it should be only common courtesy to be notified upfront. Restaurant has potential but the owners need to be around to manage the place . People go out to eat to enjoy food, company and service not to be treated with arrogance.
TLDR: The food is decent but the service is abysmal for the price point. Be ready to deal with impatient and distracted servers. We were pleasantly surprised by the availability of vegan options. We had a good time until we got to dessert. They didn’t have a written dessert menu. In the future that would be helpful so customers can see what all is included in the dishes. The server just told us they have a “peach sorbet served in a peach”, no words on what it comes garnished with. Did not expect it to arrive with a ton of pistachios on the plate, which my partner is allergic to. It was unpleasant but not a huge deal because I could have removed them for my partner; the pistachios weren’t in contact with the dessert. But when the server brought us the dish he said “hope you’re not allergic to nuts” to which we had to respond that my partner is indeed allergic. The server didn’t give us time to react or decide what we want to do with the dish. It would have been nice if they asked if we want to keep it like that and deal with it ourselves, or we want it redone without pistachios, or just simply removed from the check. But they didn’t ask us. They just stormed off with the dish shouting “oh i don’t know why he always does this”. Whatever that even meant. So we just assumed they were gonna remake it without pistachios on the plate, like any decent restaurant would have done in that case. We kept waiting there for them to remake it. They bring the check without the dessert on it “for when we’re ready” and we ask why the dessert is missing. They say “ oh don’t worry, we took that off the check for you”. We think oh so generous of them, they messed up so they’re offering us dessert on the house. Let’s offer a generous tip! Then we wait and wait and the dessert never comes. I ask for the dessert, they say we said we didn’t want it. We never said that; we were never asked what we wanted. It just seemed common courtesy to remake the dish without the pistachio garnish. We were willing to pay for it, they didn’t have to take it off the receipt. I still ask for it and they bring it completely frozen with no garnish, but not even the fresh berries initially included. We just didn’t want pistachios, it’s not that hard! The dessert was not worth the trouble. It was a sad rock hard peach with exactly two tablespoons of sorbet in it. We later found the same exact frozen peach with sorbet in it for half the price and no trouble at WholeFoods 🤦🏻♂️ the whole situation was simply ridiculous and embarrassing for a restaurant with their prices
Unfortunately a big disappointment for a restaurant that used to be excellent. We went to dinner last night and my wife and I both ordered the branzino. A rather small piece of branzino was served with cold tomatoes mixed in with OK beets, and a piece of pale wilted celery placed across the plate.
Like many other reviews with one star, the disappointment is not with the food but with the service . We were the only table and it was our first night there. Important to note that many Italians don’t know ( or care ) that the customers can hear and understand different dialects - be careful when you’re speaking about a table . We eat out all of the time - we’ve never been served a 2 ounce glass of wine and expected to pay $14 for it- when I questioned the size of the pour and was told it was well more than 6 ounces I decided to just ask for a bottle - long story short - the server wouldn’t take the glass and give me a bottle or just give me the bottle - she said I’m going to charge you for the 2 ounce pour and a bottle - I said that was wrong and not good business practice and I decided to not buy the bottle . When it was time to pay, the server didn’t care , I explained that I myself was a server for 8 years and that her response made us not want to return - the other server said there was nothing wrong with the food just the wine and that other places would do the same - I quickly replied not Stellina’s, a beautiful Italian restaurant down the block and they both said that that’s not a Sicilian restaurant, their restaurant is different and i couldn’t believe what was just said - I’m Sicilian …what an insult , that Sicilians are not as hospitable when it comes to serving people apparently …they do not know what needs to be done to keep a good customer and acted aloof when I said I’m writing a review . I didn’t drink that 2 ounce pour and left it for them . Asked to speak to the owner who was the chef and he refused to come out (speaks volumes ). To argue with a customer and deny that what they did was wrong = Bad practice.
