Opinions de Lovey’s Tea Shoppe Pacifica
Fantastic little shop! It's like a tiny front room with all manner of things tea-related. The staff is warm, friendly and knowledgeable. I overheard a phone call suggesting the caller try another tea shop as they may have what the caller was looking for. That is outstanding service, in my book. This was my first visit and won't be my last.
My and my cousin love this place. It's not too expensive for such amazing tea. The scones are wonderful as well. We come by every time they visit.
I had the hi-tea and shepherd's pie from here. The tea phenomenon is very authentic here. They have a variety of tea choices that have great fragrant smells and tastes. The service here is very homey English American Style. Quaint restaurant with lots of tea memorabilia and cool knick knacks. The crustless sandwiches were delicious the crumpets and scones were top-notch with a nice simple butter and jelly spread.
OMG..I'm not even a big tea fan, but this place is a-maz-ing! Very friendly, helpful owner with so much good stuff in her uniquely designed shop. Indoor and outdoor seating, even offers crumpets and scones and tea is served on trays, just like a proper tea time should be
This is a great place to grab a cuppa tea. The list has plenty of options and their tea snacks are really great. Super cozy atmosphere perfect for a fun date. The service was friendly and helpful. This is a great place to spend a relaxing day enjoying some tasty snacks and a great cup of tea.
Picturesque Tea Shop full of charm! My hsbd stumbled on this hidden gem and scored big time. Vast assortment of loose teas, purchased Masala Chai and Egyptian Chamomile, both of which are amazing! The service was genuinely friendly, mentioned this was our first loose Tea purchase and we were given many great recommendations. We were simply passing thru, otherwise the light lunches looked spectacular as well as presentation. Decorated from top to bottom with all things tea related this place is nothing short of tea lovers paradise. I'm a newbie tea fanatic and will certainly be coming back for more..🍵🍃
The food is excellent including the atmosphere. It is very close to the beach in Pacifica. The owners , Muna and Gillian, are very warm and personal. The service is excellent also. My wife , and I, highly recommend Lovey's Tea Shoppe.
This place is enchanting and serves delicious scones and tea. I even purchased a tea cup from their selection as a unique gift for a friend! 100% would recommend
If you know Lovejoy's in SF this Pacifica spot is owned by the original owners and has the same attitude. The food and tea is very good, and there's a little retail area. Reservations recommended as it's small and they are only open 4 days a week.
It is truly Lovely. Best scones and tea. Bought scones to bring back with me to Austin. Highly recommended.
I can't say enough about this place! If you want a personal, cozy, feel good time with a special friend or family member, this is the place! It can take you back in time to fond memories of the Good Ol Days! Thank you staff and company for keeping this alive!
Looking forward to go back. Visited a few years ago.
A very pleasant experience with amazing food and tea! A wonderful experience to share with others.
My most special tea room. It’s such a nice short walk to the ocean. Teas can be swapped out if you don’t like it. They do so great hosting groups!
Equally lovely sister shoppe to it's city counterpart. Offers the same menu. Very cute and girly high tea place in a more low key Pacifica location. I love the high tea option with Darjeeling. A treat for myself and friends.
The Tea House is a cozy and tranquil spot to relax and enjoy a wide variety of teas. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, creating a delightful experience every time.
Loved the spot that we happened to change upon. The menu is exquisite and the quality of the food was great. I'll definitely come back. Do not miss the oh so warm scones.
This is an absolutely delightful experience and one any true tea lover shouldn't miss. My first time was as a birthday present and I simply fell in love. Since then I have gone back three times and just made a reservation for my upcoming birthday. It a charming, quaint, and very cozy tea shoppe. The space is tastefully packed with tea paraphernalia and the most delicious teas to buy and relive your visit. Lovey herself is adorable and a devoted tea snob who knows everything about each tea she offers. But novices don't shy away, she is warm, friendly, and happy to explain the pleasures of tea drinking. The food is good but the pastries are excellent. There are several type of tea services to choose from and the list of different teas is impressive. The meals and teas are serviced on mismatched tea cups and plates Lovey has collected. It really adds to the experience. Best of all when you take your seat the outside world just melts away. It is some of the most relaxing and pleasurable hours I have ever spent with friends. I have taken many back including my sisters who of Scot/Ukrainian heritage we all know our teas. Do yourself a favor and plan a visit. You will not be disappointed. Every time I go back I find a new tea to try. But every time I do return I always buy the Lady Grey decaf which can't be found anywhere else. Enjoy.
We are so happy that Loveys does take-out. It is the sweetest little tea house in a very improbable location: directly on Highway 1. One can even order a two-tiered sandwich and tea-cake platter take away We look forward to enjoying the decorations inside the shop one day, and we are happy to enjoy the food now
Came here with my partner to get some teas to-go on our way to the skatepark 🛼. The inside is filled with stuff my Mom & Grandma would love, including the atmosphere which hits a nostalgic chord for me. Both of our teas were great and the owner provided FREE Oat milk! Why is that not standard? They do things properly here, I say.
This is one of me and my wife's favorite places to go in the whole world. You can either reserve a spot online for one of their "tea parties" for indoor dining, or walk in and order to eat at their eclectic and sweet patio. They have many different kinds of in-house tea blends, including black, green, white, decaf, and herbal. They offer lots of delicious tea foods, that are served in their different dainty teacups and trays. Additionally it functions a bit of an antique and locally sourced store, where they sell lots of tea sets, cups, wares, and their offerings from the menu in small jars. I cannot reccomend Lovey's enough for an occasion of any kind, they are friendly to all groups as I have seen kid's parties as well as corporate groups come together and receive exquisite service fron their kind and attentive staff that work to form one of the best experiences you will ever have.
The cutest tea shop ever! My sister and I stopped here on our Pacific Coast Hwy road trip and it was one of our favorite little spots. The staff was so friendly. We stayed for tea, scones, and tea sandwiches. Everything was delicious.
Amazing place! Absolutely loved the sandwiches (cucumber), and scones! It was a hit for a baby shower that I hosted. Highly recommend it!!
Very friendly staff. Ready to answer any questions. Didn't actually spend time to taste the menu. There were a lot of choices (savory/sweet bites and of course different varieties of tea) . Bought some tea which tasted at home and it was flavorful. Atmosphere is very inviting and positive. Comfortable and makes you feel like home. Outside seats available. Would definitely come back.
We had a great experience and we will definitely will be back!
Lovey feels like a throwback to midcentury in presentation, ambience, and decor. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience, the tea, and the snacks. Proper tea parlors such as this one tend to feel expensive compared to a Starbucks but the intended audience is quite different. Lovey is quirky and embodies a California beach vibe into its English character. It has some connection but is not exactly a rival to say the tea room at the Hotel Cafe Royal in London. We enjoyed the teas, the sandwiches, and the crumpet. Given the dearth of tea parlors and the preponderance of Starbucks, we count ourselves fans. The clientele was somewhat mixed. Some people seemed taken aback at the lack of similarity to a Starbucks. Others appeared to be repeat customers and some even came dressed for the occasion. It’s definitely worth a visit and children are welcome. There are even menu items dedicated just for them.
Beautiful little spot! Very welcoming. Had a great time!
My favorite tea shop in the area! I've had other tea services in the Bay Area and beyond, including other Lovey/Lovejoy locations, but this location remains my go-to. The quirky ambiance, cozy quarters, mismatched tea sets, and seaside location make for a one of a kind tea service. All of the food here is delicious, from the scones, petit fours, sausage rolls, and of course the house made soups, which you won't find offered at sister locations. I recommend the bay shrimp, cheese and tomato, and cucumber cream cheese tea sandwiches. For teas, my go-to is their tea room blend. Make sure to come with a reservation, especially on the weekends. You can also try calling the day of to check for open spots. The owner is extremely friendly and helpful, as is the staff - even on the busiest days. I look forward to my next visit!
It's a cute lil place. Amazing tea. Great service. You can sit inside or out. Lots of lil things to buy. Very friendly. Their scones and curd/jam are delicious.
Fantastic adorable tea shoppe. Delicious scones. Perfect crumpets. Yummy lemon curd and authentic Devonshire cream. To go tea or eat in tea available. Kitchen closes 1 hour before closing time. Adorable, antique, unique tea cups and accessories. I always find something to add to our tea party collection. Gillian and Rebecca provide fantastic customer service with restoration knowledge for antique tea sets.
We love Lovey’s! For nearly 10 years, since Lovey’s first opened, it has been a favorite of our family. Princess teas for our little princess, takeout as a treat to help us cope with quarantine, and now that we moved back to the east coast, a long-distance delivery and taste of our old home every few months, often with a sweet note or treat for our kids from Gillian. Lovey’s has been part of our family and provided some of our favorite memories for these many years and I will always be grateful.
Lovey's Tea Shoppe is a sister to Lovejoy's. This is the #1 spot in my opinion for Scones. It's small and cozy with a wide array of eccentric knicknacks relating to afternoon teas (tea pots, ceramic silverware, etc). The reason why I started to prefer Lovey's over Lovejoy's are the following: - close to my place - better parking options( free being the main reason) - better chance at getting a reservation If you decide to visit, please book a reservation. They updated their site to now display if certain dates still have availabilities for you, but you will still need to call or email in a request for a spot. Another option is their open seating, community table. If it's just yourself and one other, and you didn't book a reservation. They have a large round table available. It's a first come, first serve table that you share with others. A good alternative. For the food, I always recommend that if it's your first time. To get the Queen's tea (featuring a pic of Queen's Tea for Two and a side of Scones with Fruit next to it).
A wonderful and cozy experience. Amazing and varied tea choices and knowledgeable staff who are very friendly and kind.
Want high tea and don't feel like going into the city? Lovey's has you covered. A wide selection of unflavored, flavored and herbal teas, traditional crustless tea sandwiches and petit fours, plus scones and crumpets baked fresh on the premises. The vibe at Lovey's is calm and civilized, so if you're in a hurry for your leafy fix, score a Tazo at a drive through Starbucks. But if you have more than a minute and no particular place to be, then pull up a chair, choose something delightful and drink in the casual charm at Lovey's. Whatever you choose, the lemon curd is not to be missed.
Love the ambience of the place, it felt quaint and whimsical when stepping inside. I’m not a big fan of tea by any means but their caramel Scottish tea had me in a loop.
Where to start, everything is favorite at this place, from fresh Excellent food and arrangment to Vintage vibes and items, kindness is in the air. We were taken with such care. The day was booked. I was kindly offered a table outside and I was given such an amazing gift to celebrate my birthday with my family. It was a beautiful day, perfect celebration. I am very thankful. I picked a couple of free items, my daughter did her shopping, the food is nothing short of delicious, fresh, and plenty, the tea selection and presentation beyond excellent. I can't thank the ladies enough for one of my best birthday celebrations in a decade! We appreciate you, you are fantastic! We highly reccomand Lovey's. After your tea time, you scroll down and visit the beach. There are beautiful playgrounds in the area. Enjoyed it all. THANK YOU, WE ARE COMING BACK!
I recently visited Loveys Tea House in Pacifica, CA, and had an absolutely delightful experience. The prices were very reasonable, but what truly set this tea house apart was the exceptional staff. They were friendly, attentive, and made us feel incredibly welcome. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the food and tea. Their scones were the best I’ve ever had—perfectly baked and delicious. We also tried the Mango Tango tea, which was simply amazing and full of vibrant flavors. Overall, Loveys Tea House provided a wonderful, cozy atmosphere with top-notch service and delectable treats. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will definitely be returning soon!
I’ve enjoyed scones, truffles and petite fours at Lovey’s many times, but today treated myself to an afternoon tea (eventually). What a pleasure! The ladies were so kind, attentive, and made it very special. A two-sided menu of teas to select from for your personalized pot of tea. A lovely selection of elegant sandwiches on varied bread (I liked that!) and a little salad. A warm scone, jam and clotted cream (always a highlight for me when they’re proper scones) followed by a warm crumpet with lemon curd. Topped by an option of a petite four, truffle or cookie. Make your reservation for an afternoon tea today!
My wife and I visited here and loved it. Huge selection of teas and great food (especially the scones). The staff here were so nice and accommodating which contributed to the homey, friendly feel. One of the better tea times I've been to!
Describe this place in one word: "Delightful"!!! 😃👍 If you know tea, you know that the different varieties of flavors are more subtle than coffee. So it takes a little longer to learn what flavor matches your mood and pallet. Lovey's Tea Shoppe doesn't have the thousands of different teas available, but what they do have on hand (maybe 40 different varieties), should suit most people. It's not a stuffy, formal atmosphere, more light and quaint, and welcome drop-ins. The staff are wonderfully friendly and very helpful if you're not sure what you want. Lovey's is focused on English style tea, which means scones, cucumber sandwiches, and crumpets. They do a traditional English afternoon tea service which looks enticing! I'll have to come back for that for sure! This time around, I just did tea and a scone. I was surprised to find the scone (wasn't) what I expected: dry, very dry. No! Their scones are moist and utterly delicious!!! The tea I chose: Royal Blend, was...scrumptious, would be the word I'd use!!! They describe it as a black tea with a subtle bouquet of vanilla and grenadine. The aroma was sublime!!! If you like English style tea, you'll love Lovey's Tea Shoppe!!! Highly recommend!!!
Such a cute little place! Sounds like it gets super busy on weekends so I'm glad we managed to hit it on a Friday morning. It was my birthday and we got little treats afterwards for free! It was so beautiful and very very nice wait staff :)
It is always wonderful going to Lovey's for high tea. The food and teas are wonderful, the shoppe is very cut and charming and the service is always wonderful. Gillian and her tea room have been part of our families shared memories and many milestones have been celebrated there.
The scones are to die for. The tea with milk and some sugar tastes perfectly. And the service is very accommodating. The walk-up menu order is different from the full tea service that requires reservation in advance. Didn't know that, being the first time there on my mum's request. What would Alice think of this place, one wonders?
One of my favorite local spots. It's a really special place. It's great for little kids too. It makes a great daddy/daughter spot. They are very accommodating and sweet. The food is always excellent, and a very fine assortment of teas. We have been there for a few events (birthday party, baby shower) and they were very, very fun. My group had food allergies, and they were prepared for everything we threw at them. It's almost always busy, so I would recommend to make a reservation.
Hands down no other tea place holds a candle to Loveys Tea Shoppe run by its wonderful owner, Gillian! As a family, we have prioritized celebrating many milestones and holidays/birthdays within her tea room. Whenever we visit, we feel quite welcomed and treated so well! The ambiance is exceptionally cozy and relaxing. Best sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats I have ever had, so delicious! Wonderful selection of teas as well. We can't thank Gillian and her staff enough for all that they do! If you are a tea enthusiast and are looking for a great place for tea this is it!
Every time I visit northern California, Lovey's Tea Shoppe is on my agenda! It is in a beautiful location with both indoor and outdoor seating. The tea sets are charmingly mismatched, the decor is perfectly cozy and the sandwiches, bakery and tea are delicious. The owner is always so friendly and generous of spirit. I always have to explore the little gift shop, and when I am home in Wisconsin, I order gift packages for myself and as gifts. Truly a gem!
An adorable and authentic tea shop! After becoming obsessed with tea houses on a trip to the UK, I visited Lovey's and was impressed with how much it reminded me of tea time overseas. The tea selection is massive, their scones are out of this world, and the whole shop has an adorable and cozy atmosphere. This place is definitely worth a stop!
Really cute, down-to-earth place with really good teas and quite lovely people. I recommend the Midnight in Paris tea and the green apple/cheese/mustard sandwiches when they have them. Felt like having tea at a friend’s house.
Quaint tea shoppe with two friendly women were working there today. We had no reservation but they were able to accommodate us just fine. Luckily the weather was ok to sit outside. Inside is very tiny and seating would be for a few groups of 3 people at best. The ambiance is cute and a little shabby but it has charm. It's like an old fashioned tea cup shop with lovely things to buy too. Much to appreciate beyond the worn yet cute esthetic. The food is good, not fancy, not gourmet or like grandma's either. I'd say it's like a good little bite, tasty, satisfying and definitely worth a try. The warm welcome and continuous smiles will be remembered. I always appreciate a welcoming establishment. I will tell you that you are busing your own table outside and I don't believe that anyone came back to see if any additional service was needed. I felt content and most things that you might need were all with in reach. This is not a royal tea experience. It's a quaint old mom and pop establishment with friendly people. Don't come here expecting a high tea experience this is not the place. I will say I would go back. I really had a great time.
Lovey's Tea Shoppe is a great tea house. I loved the atmosphere, it's so charming and lovely. The tea is fantastic, the scones were so delicious, the sandwiches were also really good. I came here with my friends and we had an amazing time. It's a great date spot. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming!!
This has always been one of favorite places to patronize, despite the fact that we no longer live in the area we are more than happy to make the trek. The staff have always been amazing, accommodating, welcoming, and made us feel like VIPs. This is such a gem to enjoy quality tea, food, and atmosphere in such a quaint place. The selection of teas varies by season with a wealth of standing options warm and iced all at your fingertips. We love Lovey’s and will continue to make our trek from 3 1/2 hours away to enjoy this gem in Pacifica! Thank you!
What a gem. We thoroughly enjoyed our tea and sandwiches. The atmosphere is quirky and delightful. We sat inside for warmth, but the outside seating area had a beautiful view and a similar character. The service was super friendly as well. Highly recommended stop on the coast. I can't believe it took me this long to discover it.
Homemade crumpets, scones, lemon curd, clotted cream and raspberry jam sp delicious as well as their finger sandwiches.
I loved everything about this tea place. Me and my few girl friends came on Friday for high tea and everything was perfect . We each got different types of tea . I got white peach which was amazing with unlimited refill . The sandwiches were delicious and so as scones. Service was great , the ladies were attentive and friendly . We loved the little shop inside where they sell cutest tea pots, cups , teas , scones etc . I ended up getting lychee rose green tea to enjoy at home .
Lovely lil tea shop that’s in an unexpected location. They have an outdoor seating space as well as a small inside spot. The sandwiches were nice but nothing special. However, the scones are to die for!!! We ordered more considering they were so good!!!
Literally the cutest little place ever!!! I’m enjoying tea and sandwiches and scones with my sister right now and it’s amazing! Such sweet and attentive workers and delicious tea and food. So much variety, even chocolate tea which I rarely find a truly good version of! Love it here so much and can’t wait to come back!!
What a cool little tea house right on PCH. Incredible loose and bagged tea selection with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Yes, the homemade scones are delicious! Indoor and outdoor seating. A great place to treat yourself or find great gifts. Don’t drive by it, it’s worth stopping.
Thank you Loveys for your wild strawberry herbal tea sample ( It smells heavenly! ) and replacement tea filters. What a lovely surprise! Such a wonderful little cozy tea shop right on the Pacific coast. For many years when I would visit I never had the chance to stop by. I finally had the chance and I was not disappointed. Check their website if you want to reserve a tea time for a larger party. I went two days and the first day it was just open seating where you could grab some hot tea, set a beautiful table and get a pastry. The other day there was a large party having tea and little cute sandwiches to eat. There are many wonderful blends of tea that you can purchase. They are all so very fragrant and delicious! You will not be disappointed with any of them. If you are a tea enthusiast, you must absolutely stop here.
I thoroughly enjoyed my tea room experience here at Lovey's. The ambience was quaint, and the queen's tea was delicious, as expected. I've been to the other LoveJoy Tea Rooms in San Francisco and Redwood City, but this one felt a little more cozy and definitely a lot quieter with just about six tables inside. It made the experience more pleasant and enjoyable.
We had great customer service. The food and tea were amazing, but the portions of food are a bit small. The scones are some of the best I've ever had. The dining area is small, I would recommend a reservation but there is a community table if you haven't.
A lovely tea experience, with many choices and options, including at least a dozen different tea sandwiches, the best scones I've eaten outside of England, luscious crumpets, petit fours, and much more. And of course, an extensive choice of teas. The owners are kind and service is excellent. Reservations highly recommended. One thing to note: the restroom is outside and down a flight of stairs.
I’ve been to Lovey’s many times for their lovely scones and amazing chocolate truffles and petit fours…this was the first time having their afternoon tea. It was wonderful with attentive, friendly service, ensuring my pot of tea was kept hot and providing a considerate pace of the courses offered in a relaxed atmosphere. I had to purchase some chocolate truffles to go, of course!
This place is adorable! The tea tray for 2 was exactly the joy I needed as we exit the pandemic. Outdoor space is inviting and a bit magical even with the adjacent highway noise. Food was delicious and tea options were broad and tasty.
I'm kind of sorry I went because now I will want to stop there whenever they are open on my way home. I stopped to ask if my dog Bogart could sit with me on the patio and from the first we were welcomed by friendly smiles. We really appreciate the service and attention. I had the high tea service, decided on the shrimp and mayo sandwich and the sandwich of the day which was a chicken chutney. The greens with dressing and coleslaw included were a good portion. The scone was fresh and hot. It is recommended to start with it to enjoy it as such. I had the mango tea it's perfect with or without milk. Everything was tasty and satisfying and reasonably priced. We will return.

It's like stepping into an alternate universe. Sweet and quaint. The cute teapots and cups and saucers had me expecting the characters from Disney's Beauty and the Beast to appear. As a bonus the tea and little sandwiches are delicious.
Great hostesses providing an ecclectic tea, sandwiches, candies and scones selection to eat in a cute outdoor area. A bit in the pricey side but fun for an occasion!
Super lovely place. Food is tasty. A lot of options for tea sandwiches. Great selection of the tea. And there are plenty of decaf black tea options like lady gray, Earle great, back vanilla and so on. Unfortunately due to covid they don't service it in cute China and only 4 tables outside to seat. No reservations.
Perfect place to grab a to go tea to keep you warm for an overcast or chilly beach walk. When we do to go from here there’s often a little bit of a wait. Enjoy the shop’s decors while you wait. Enjoyable for high tea too. It’s a cute tea shop on the coast. Fun eclectic vibes and delightful scones and petit fours. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful during the tea selection. I always get a fruit flavored tea of some kind. I have heard from others that chamomile here is good.
Great tea and scones. Their crumpets were absolutely fantastic and the service was prompt and courteous. The sandwichs were only so-so. I would recommend making a reservation because they are busy, but it is a nice way to spend an afternoon.
Trying to visit for months , we finally made it this weekend . The tea flavors are amazing ... Specially the Blood Orange 🍊 husband and kids also enjoyed it ! Can't wait to come get more tea tomorrow morning. I'm sad I don't get to enjoy it in a nice cup and use their fancy teapots but , I get it ... Precautions Oh! Can't close this without saying , the scones are sooooo good too ...lemon ginger my fave . The ladies are so lovely and warm with every customer 😍
Very cute tea shop with a Victorian theme. You get your tea served in classic teapots, with proper sugar bowls, creamers, and teacups. There is a small section of the shop with various tea-related things for sale. The scones are warm and delightfully buttery. I came here with a group of friends and we had the house blend of black tea, which was quite strong so it needed a lot of milk and sugar. I should mention however that space is rather tight in this place, so when our group was taking photos of each other at the end of our tea session, one of the waitresses became very cranky because we were in her way.
The tea selection was fantastic! Cute place, though maybe a bit uncomfortable, depending on which chair you get. The space is pretty tight and there were a few yellow jackets inside over the summer, which is why I give it a 4. Sometimes people wear fancy hats when they visit, which gives off an added fun vibe. They should sell a selection of fancy hats there.
Sweet place. Our lunch plates could have been picked up and the cakes (which we brought), served sooner. Also, no cake server utensil was offered, so serving the cake was a little messy. If bringing your own dessert, make sure to also bring the proper utensils.
Large selection of tea and sandwiches. Nice, cozy (but small) place. I like it well enough, and the staff is friendly. However they have a serious problem with their open times. I have "stopped by there" four times. The second time, I stopped in and asked if there was room available for two. The lady simply and quickly said, "We're closed" with no explanation or further thought. The shoppe was filled with customers and it was 2PM... the sign said they were closed at 5PM. The other time they were closed when the hours stated they would be open.
Cute place and the food and tea were quite good. They apparently only serve in to go cups since COVID, though, which is a shame and definitely detracts from the experience of going out for tea. They have a really cute gift shop area and the overall atmosphere is quite cozy. There are only a few tables inside. They have some patio seating, though I can't imagine it being very comfortable with the noise of the highway right there. Restroom is great for cleanliness/stock, but it's located outside, around the building, so you can brace yourself for a freezing seat and wet toilet paper during the winter months.
Came here with a group of friends after a hike. We ordered at the counter and sat outside since indoor seating was filled. Service was good. The shop was nice. Sitting outside was pleasant though next to parked cars next to very busy road. I ordered the (tea tray for 1) turkey sandwich which was good. The traditional scone was tasty and the clotted cream wasn’t too bad. My green tea with toasted rice was tasty.
Very cute tea shop. Made a reservation for 2 at 11am on a Friday. There seems to be plenty of tables at that time if you decide to walk in. Ordered the high tea for 1 (myself). Really good. My mom got the Me tea. The food and tea orders are the same as Lovejoys in SF. The only difference is that it’s a different location and there is no separate antique shop to buy afternoon tea dishware and whatnot across the street. A good location for those who live in the Peninsula area. We also got the sausage rolls al a carte but it was not as good as I have hoped. It was my mom’s birthday and it was so sweet of them to give her one petite four for free!

After seeing the owner respond so quickly and reading the response; thinking back upon my travels and being told by servers that Americans have an abroad reputation as "serving ware" thieves that think they are entitled to these "souvenirs", I can understand why the trackable reservation may be required for the dainty cups and pots in the ritual, I revised my review to a neutral 3 because it should have been made clear before I ordered that it was being served in "to go" paper cups, as I would not have ordered if I knew that. As an alternative, I suggest one try the restaurant ware stores on Clement street in San Francisco, there one can find reasonable nice simple ceramic cups and pots for general use in house. Paper cups really taint the taste as well as the experience. the original review below... Disappointing experience - I have never in the hundreds of tea houses I have dined in all over the world and locally, both english style and asian, had "dine in/for here" tea served in a paper cup. What is the point of that for sit down dine in tea. Tea served at a table should be properly served in an actual ceramic cup, it does not have to be a dainty one, but not in a paper cup where the paper cup can be tasted in the teas. The irony is that there are, in this tea dive, hundreds of fancy used ceramic and porcelain tea cups for sale. When my tisane came, it was in a paper cup and when I told the server the tea was ordered "for here", obviously, I received an extremely curt reply stating I had to reserve online for the entire tea service if i wanted a proper tea experience with real cups... Um... so I cannot just walk in the almost completely empty tea house and have a proper cup of tea with just a scone... What I received was bagged tea in a paper cup, just like you would get at a fast food place. Hello, don't call yourself a tea house if you cannot do tea right. I wish I could say the tea was good, but it was not as the light tisane tasted like paper cup.
We got the lychee rose green tea and some kind of citrus black tea. Both teas were quite mild in flavor profile. We also got the Cucumber dill sandwiches which were fine. The currant scone was a bit dry and the jam that went with it was way too sweet. The lemon ginger scone is the star of the show, and makes up for everything else. I might come back for the lemon ginger scone, but everything else was just mediocre. Unfortunate location as it's right next to the main road and all you hear is traffic, despite them trying to cover the sound of traffic with speakers playing music.
I don't know why they changed their way of doing things, but this was my third time here and I won't be back ever. As an aficionado who has enjoyed high tea all over the world, I was really disappointed in Lovey's Tea Shoppe. It wasn't just one thing. I didn't like that I had to pay in advance. The price for afternoon tea with tip is $70 USD, so I was expecting a small amount of fabulous. I will say my Darjeeling tea was delicious. What I really didn't like was that they serve your lunch one thing at a time. I like to choose what I'm going to eat when it's all in front of me, which is something every other tea shop offers - except this one. The sandwiches are all made from the same bread. When you're done, you are offered a choice of scones. Then you get one single scone. Mine was overcooked and flat. One scone? They actually wait for you to finish that before they bring you half a crumpet. I didn't want a crumpet (English muffin). But what put me over the edge is when they finally brought out the tray of sweets, you could only choose ONE. This was just too much for me. I choose a chocolate petit four which was mushy, so I didn't eat it. I understand that costs have gone up, but this was just ridiculous. No one came and asked if everything was okay. I swear I was annoyed about this for days afterwards, and it upset an otherwise lovely time with a childhood friend. I will never go back to this place. I felt so ripped off. For the price I paid for my sandwich, overcooked scone, half a small crumpet and one mushy sweet, I could host a tea for a dozen of my friends. It's not like you're paying for atmosphere either, it's a little dive shop by the freeway, they don't play music, they sell the jam for a few dollars more than the shop that actually makes it across the street. Do better, Lovey's. You used to be enchanting. And I think people who like your place just don't know any better.

This place has horrible customer service and food is way overpriced. No one even at front desk to welcome us and stood in small cramped place for 10 mins and eventually had to walk clear back into kitchen to look for a hostess. After waiting for another 45 minutes (while noting several open tables) we were finally seated! Ordered the roast beef sandwich for almost $20 bucks and it was 4 bites and to top it off waitress messed up the rest of our order and then overcharged us! 3 hours later and still staving we left very disgruntled.
What a disappointment! We were served our tea in a paper cup! When I questioned this and asked for a regular tea cup I was told they would be glad to cancel my order or I could BUY a cup and they would pour my tea into it! No tea drinker uses a paper cup unheard of. Scones were mediocre. Sandwiches were good. I will never return here and I will tell my friends to not go here.
