What a fun dinner and live music evening! We went for their Valentine's Day menu and the food was just great. Our server, Daniel, was fantastic. The music group playing was very enjoyable. We had a great night!
We had not been here before and just loved it. The food was worth the price and the entertainment (rat pack music) was super fun. Our server, Daniel, was top notch. Knowledgeable, friendly and clearly proud of his place! His recommendations were on point and he was attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommend!
My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary there and we had a truly wonderful dining experience. Billy was our server and he was fantastic! The food and ambience were great as well as the live jazz music. Overall an excellent night and we can’t wait to go back. 👍
Don't pay attention to the negative reviews on food. We saw the Judy show and choose the Branzino which was very good and a generous portion, which included warmed bread without charging for it. Hate that now resturants want to charge for bread... we sat in the Dean Martin alcove which was OK still could see the stage with effort. I was fortunate to get the last non bar stool table- show books up months in advance. The guys next to us got the ribs and chicken parm and creme Brule - they said the food was very good. Judy ( Michael) was so entertaining and funny: loved, loved, loved his ability to work the crowd so cool. I thought service was good overall it was a sold out house and staff managed it well. Ignore any negative reviews on this show or food some people just like to complain. We will be back they have lots of entertainment here and parking in front on street was easy- (don't park at hotel lot). Thanks to everyone we had a great time; shout out to the staff that gracefully handled the drunk women at the table next to us, you all showed beautiful grace.
A great evening at the Purple Room! We saw the Liberace and Liza show--so fun. Enjoyed the Lounge Lizard cocktail, as well as the shrimp cocktail (the shrimp was fresh and cold, even though the cocktail sauce was watery and fairly tasteless). The short rib entree was tasty, and plenty to share for two old ladies, LOL. Our bottle of wine was tardy in arriving, but Michael saved the day. Our waiter William was attentive and sweet. In fact, all the staff were super friendly and welcoming. This is a great venue for a night out!
We enjoyed dinner here Christmas night. Service, food, entertainment and cocktails were all excellent. Loved the old school atmosphere, it's one of the greatest perks to visiting Palm Springs. We had a wonderful experience and would absolutely return.
What an amazing experience. From the minute I walked in till I left everything was perfect state of the art. The hostess was so inviting and friendly. The wait staff the manager were just excellent. The food was really good served hot and nice wine and a reasonable price. The music was nice and I enjoyed myself and definitely will be going back. A huge asset for Palm springs
Michael runs a great show! We were there on a Thursday night, which they term “date night”- the menu provides a three course meal for $50! Unbelievable these days, and a great variety of selections. The jazz quartet was phenomenal and quite entertaining, Laurence Hobgood was in attendance playing the piano with flair! We loved the vibe of the room, a sublime experience! Highly recommended when you are in Palm Springs, reservations recommended though.
I felt like we time traveled this weekend! This is such a fun lounge preserved from a bygone era. They are booking really talented performers. We saw Debby Holiday’s Tina turner tribute show. It was fantastic. Debby had an amazing voice, you would swear it was Tina. She was super high energy and hilarious.
Had a wonderful time tonight! From the host stand to the table & all throughout the experience, the staff made us feel welcome & at ease! Our server, Heather, was amazing and even gave excellent drink and food recommendations. She was also just delightful as a human, the perfect person for a hospitality industry job. The music was beautiful and effortless, just a smooth quartet bringing the ambiance. I just want to thank the whole crew for making this a Christmas to remember!
Honestly this place just rules- it is such a fun encapsulation of some of the vibe Palm Springs is famous for. You get the classic jazz supper club vibe, combined with really attentive and friendly service, tasty traditional dishes and great cocktails. Overall it’s just a really enjoyable atmosphere to hang out in, whether from a back booth ducking in to catch a slice of the show or from a table up front close to the stage. This is sort of the antithesis of the modern hype Instagram-driven spots like the hotel next door; that is why it is great.
Went here for a Valentine's Day date night and it was such a fun experience! Fingers crossed and you get Daniel as your server because they made the night so much fun! Good food, great atmosphere, amazing music and surprisingly strong drinks. Definitely check this place out!
Supper Club with great history, food and service were excellent, but The Judy Christmas Show with all the hype and 5 star reviews left me puzzled. The male impersonator/now owner of club and star of show looked, dressed and sounded like Judy Garland, but the post mortem digs at Judy Garlands flaws of alcoholism & drug addiction were taken a bit too far. Judy's mother and movie studio started her on drugs when she was young as they considered her to be too heavy when she was filming. That's how her addictions started. Couldn't the Judy Show have focused on her beautiful voice and wonderful performance as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz or in her other films? Or is society today too concerned about making a mockery of everything? As I watched many in the audience laughing I thought so.
Fun music and good drinks. But if you see large party seated at a table, be warned -- go elsewhere. We could not enjoy the music with a table of 10 women *literally* shouting over the singer and the band with their conversation. A complaint about rude customers was met with, "This is a free bar. We don't ask peole to be quiet here." The bartender told us that we were out of line and that we should leave. So we did. Well, at least those 10 women had a great time that night. Unlikely we'll risk returning, and that's a shame.
This was our third time at the Purple Room and first time catching the Judy Show. Feels like stepping back in time to the supper club era. We really enjoyed the show, but full disclosure it’s geared towards an older crowd. Michael Holmes, the creator and star of the show, is great. There’s audience engagement and lots of humor. The cocktails are fantastic and keeping with the overall ambiance. Service staff is top notch. Our group of four felt that the food wasn’t quite up to par tho. Could be because it’s early season and the kitchen may be getting its stride. Portions are generous. We shared a carrot cake slice for dessert and polished it off! We are lucky to live near the Purple room and look forward to visiting again to check out other entertainers. It’s a special venue that’s unique to Palm Springs.
Classic supper club atmosphere with more of a dark, speakeasy feel. Live musical performer was great. Cocktails were maybe the best I've ever had! 🍸 Food was good as well. Service could've been better, however. Server took a LONG time to take our order (about 40 min. and after orders for tables seated after us) and we were charged for an item we didn't order. When we asked our server about it, there wasn't an apology and she said she already ran our card so paid us in cash for the mistaken item instead. Seemed a little improper and the reaction to the error isn't what I'd expect.
The atmosphere and entertainment was very enjoyable as were the drinks and everything except for the chicken parmesan! The chicken was very, very tough and not flavorful . It was a total disappointment . Olive Garrden's chicken parmesan is heads above this. Sorry, as those with me had great meals - I guess I picked the wrong entree!
I really hate to do this because I wanted to love this place so much but date night to me is special. When in comes a family with children and I mean infants and toddlers I a nightclub atmosphere I just don't understand it. Is there nothing left for us adults to just have adult time. Sorry..so wanted to enjoy this night.
This long standing place is part of the hostory of PS and for thatvreason also is worth going to. The shows are good eithr ticked on weekends or during the week with a reservation. The service is good and the atmosphere is old school which is great. The food is the issue, we have eaten there several times and it's always packed so I doubt they care much about the food but it easn't good. Chicken parm was really bad and the vegetarian dish was no better, prices are HIGH for this level of food quality but I suppose you also paying some for the entertainment. The steak was edible but not great. The attached Hotel, Club Trinidad is a time capsule from the 60's, by no means modern but run by a very nice lady and fits into PS perfectly. The owner of the Purple Room has also been very nice. If they could greatly improve the quality of food, this could be our favorite place in PS.
The cocktails, atmosphere, and music (Rose Mallett and the band) were good, but food and service were not great. We felt rushed by our waitress (an older lady) the whole night... it felt like she wanted us out in under an hour (which means we would have only had 30 minutes of music, since the band stopped and took a break right after we sat down at 8:30.) We were asked if we were ready to order drinks about 3 minutes after we sat down and had barely opened the menu (and we only had one cocktail menu to share.) When I asked her what was in the Stranger in the Night (the menu only lists bourbon and says it is a classic boulevardier, but I was not familiar with the boulevardier cocktail, and there is no cell phone signal there to be able to look it up), she couldn't tell me, and couldn't bother to find out (I ended up walking up to the bar to ask the bartenders.) When the drinks came, they didn't bring any bread like they did for other tables... in fact, our basket of bread never showed up until AFTER we were done with the whole meal. As for the food... the arancini starter was tasty, and my wife's crabcakes were not very meaty, but okay. The branzino dish was a real miss... the fish was kind of dry and needed a sauce or topping or side with more moisture and flavor. It came with small roasted potatoes that seemed to be in cheap canned/jarred marinara sauce (that was the worst part of all... It was a very familiar flavor like Hunts or Ragu spaghetti sauce. And not a very suitable sauce for roasted potatoes or branzino fish, anyway!) Not very hearty, and pretty lackluster for the price ($45!) As soon as we finished the meal (in a little under an hour) and opted not to have dessert, we were asked if we were going to be leaving or stick around for more music -- we still had half of our cocktails left to finish! Really, you're trying to usher us out the door when we're not even done with our drinks?? (And why? It's not like they could seat another party.) Yes, we came to a music venue to listen to music. Asking us if we are ready to leave when our drinks aren't even done and we've only heard like 3 or 4 songs was pretty off-putting. One more note: parking was difficult! You can only park on the street (not in the parking spaces), and it was hard to find a spot.
Overall: Food 3, drinks 3, entertainment 5, service 3. Rose Mallet was definitely the highlight of the night- wonderful choice of jazz entertainment for the evening. As a seasoned Supper Club guest across several states, it was a fair experience. Our waitress didn’t seem very happy to be there- I even gave her a compliment to try and lift her spirits; She may have just been ready to go home. Long day maybe? The drinks were potent- two of us did not finish and opted for a lighter option. The escargot was well executed. My salmon entree was fair. It seemed to lack creativity & depth (photo below: salmon topped with corn and bell peppers, quite literally). We were in town visiting and I decided to bring friends for their 1st Supper Club experience. The menu could use a revamp. If there is good food and good entertainment, the service can be more easily be forgiven. For the price point, we expected more from food & drink.
Visited for their "Date Night" on Thursdays. With a reservation for 6:00, we thought we'd arrive a bit early (about 5:30) to enjoy a drink at the bar first. Nope. Absolutely not allowed. Even though there were seats available at the bar... you can't go in. They're quite forceful about it. You're only allowed a total of an hour and forty five minutes "in the room", according to the gatekeeper at the door. Instead, they suggest you go up the street to El Jefe to spend your money. (Little tip for management - if you're really going to insist on not allowing guests to come in and sit at the bar for a drink, you'd come across as much more 'customer friendly' and a lot less militant if you just said, "I'm sorry - we haven't any seats at the bar available", rather than the response I got, saying, "No! You're not allowed to sit at the bar. You only have 1:45 TOTAL that you can be IN THE ROOM. We're VERY strict about that. You CAN'T be IN THE ROOM for more than 1:45!") We returned for our reservation at 6:00. Interestingly, they were super slow bringing the bill, so we ended up being 'in the room' for 2 hours and 15 minutes, even though we were ready to leave sooner. Maybe the timers on their ejection seats were broken? Entertainment was enjoyable. Food was okay. Not great, but fine. Overall, was just an average experience at best. And being "IN THE ROOM" isn't the flex they seem to think it is.
Always enjoyed our evenings here, but last night was quite disappointing! Couldn't get into the earlier seating for dinner so opted for the later one. Dinner and service were good. Band stopped playing after a few numbers and killed the atmosphere completely!
HORIBLE EXPERIENCE BOOKED A TABLE for the stage an got placed way in the back behind the bar only to watch a sad show on video monitors . Woman at the door had absolutely no compassion and was worst than a natzi ! Absolutely so rude I cried as it was our last night in PS and after three visits to the Purple Room !! So terribly disappointed!! Reservation does not guarantee your seat !!🤮🤮🤮🤮
