Perfect cafe with excellent pastries, coffee and one of my favorite go tos for breakfast. Can’t beat polenta and eggs. Also the perfect spot for an afternoon treat and espresso. Has the local vibe with all sorts of regulars from mom’s catching up to business deals to students. Friendly efficient staff.
I came here for breakfast at 9 am on a Thursday and the café was busy but not crowded. I didn't have to wait long for someone to take my order. The sidewalk tables are shaded and peaceful. Yes, they're right next to a parking lot but it's a quiet parking lot with columns and plant barriers between tables and lot so it didn't feel exposed or busy. My eggs arrived quickly and were cooked perfectly. The food and coffee were delicious. Service ranged from friendly to nearly invisible efficiency. This is a great place to grab a morning coffee or indulge in a weekday breakfast out.
We come here whenever we are in the area for snacks, good coffee and lunch- a true paris style cafe- but this review is specifically for the Strawberry Shortcake cake we ordered for a party. It was DIVINE. It was almost all cream and delighted us at the party and continues to be delicious as leftovers days later. Don't forget about this place for ordering cakes, including birthday celebration cakes.
Delightful cafe and restaurant with a focus on deliciousness. My wife discovered it and had a talk with the owner as she herself runs a food business Indian Bento. Owner gave her and my kid a complimentary fruit tart with their lunch, which was kind. We all 4 returned the next day for a meal. Then I came myself for a croissant and cappuccino, was happy to give up my table to an older couple that was unable to snag a spot as this place gets busy, and moved inside to share a table. Good vibes all around, and the service is very good.
I has eggs benedict and a capuccino and it was delicious! Also really fast and great service
very French. Great coffee and pastries 🥧, plus other stuff. lots of seating indoor and outdoor. they'll bring your order to your table.
Authentic french patisserie and bakery! Very fair prices and great selection of sandwiches served on baguette! Also delicious cappuccino!
Super tasty breakfast sandwich with prosciutto and baguette. Like the ones we had in Europe. Free fruit tart is also so delicious. I forgot to give tip. So leaving a great review. Will come back
It was a Sunday morning around lunchtime when I stopped by this place for a quick brunch. Even though it was fully packed—both inside and outside, however, I was seated right away. I ordered a cup of mocha, which was absolutely amazing, along with a grilled ham and cheese sandwich that included some vegetables. They actually offer two versions of the ham and cheese: one that’s pre-made and kept at the counter with just ham and cheese, and another freshly prepared version with added veggies. I chose the latter, and they made it to order and brought it to the table. A nice touch was the complimentary mini tart they serve with food or coffee. I got a tiny blueberry tart that added just the right amount of sweetness. Such a thoughtful gesture. The sandwich itself was decent, nothing extraordinary, but the baguette was good. I’d definitely come back to try some of their baked items, like croissants, or maybe their soups, especially the French onion soup.
A nice, casual French pastry spot with great coffee and pastries. The outdoor seating is lovely, though it can get a bit chilly in the winter. I’ve tried several croissant flavors and loved every one. Highly recommend for a relaxed hangout with friends or some quality alone time.
Great Consignment store, very good collection when we were there. Never have we purchased several pieces of clothing and shoes within a very short period of time, especially at a consignment store (there wasn't any clearance or deep discounts). The collection was really good. Plus there was an upscale brand collection, slightly larger than the usual 2-3 items in stores like these
Douce France at Town & Country Village in Palo Alto is a charming, quaint café with consistently good service. The coffee is fantastic, rich, and perfectly made, making it an ideal spot to relax, catch up, or enjoy a peaceful morning break.
As someone else had said - simply delicious. Not sure what the bread is on croque monsieur but wow! Absolutely delicious. Lots of seats available inside and out. I did also get the apple type tart but would pass on that next time.
Great vibes. I had the misto sandwich and it was delicious, and the guy who took my order and prepared my coffee was so friendly, respectful and nice! The coffee was also great, and they have tables outside and inside. Highly recommend.
The pastries were very good. Especially the pain au chocolat, pain au raisin, and the ham and cheese croissant. We also had the raspberry croissant, eclair, tiramisu, strawberry tart, and millefoglie. My only complaint was that the cream pasticceria was a bit on the lighter side in color and flavor, but that could just be because of the egg problem going on right now. Usually it's a bit more yellow and richer, but it may be harder to get better quality yolks at the moment. I did give it a 5 star though because the flakiness of the croissant, pain au chocolat, and pain au raisin were spot on. Very good.

Beautiful and delicious cake. Go for something chocolaty like chocolate mousse. Nice and attentive staffs as well. UPDATE: Recently I have tried the pear tart. It is amazing as well! UPDATE 2024/7/20: They have a decent french toast too. I wish they have a better/ more variety of fruit though.
Oh, I absolutely love this place! My mother-in-law, who also spoke French fluently, first introduced me to it—and ever since, it’s been my top choice whenever I want something truly special and delicious. The atmosphere is so relaxing, with gentle background music that adds just the right touch. The café is always spotless, and the staff are consistently friendly and attentive. There’s comfortable seating both indoors and outdoors, including covered areas—so even on a rainy day, it’s a perfect spot to unwind. They serve wonderfully fresh pancakes and salads, a wide variety of pastries, and an incredible selection of sweets. Whether you’re in the mood for a small treat to pair with a freshly brewed tea or coffee, or a full dessert indulgence, everything tastes like a little “cherry on top” experience! The café is also very accessible—there’s plenty of space for families with children and guests in wheelchairs, with several seating options available. It’s often busy, which speaks volumes about how many people love dining here. The Art Deco–inspired décor adds a charming touch, and the overall presentation and cleanliness are always impressive. I wholeheartedly recommend this café—it truly feels like a cozy oasis in the middle of the bustling Town and Square plaza!
Excellent food for breakfast. (We've only had breakfast here.) Very nice, accommodating staff for special requests. French cafe style tables. Quiche are very good, but sometimes are not heated enough. Bakery items are also very good. Coffee is not too strong and very good.

Good vibe but WiFi doesn't work and cell signal (Verizon) is not that great in the cafe to use for hotspot.
A delightful bakery and cafeteria situated in the middle of Palo Alto serving a variety of pastries, paninis, brunch goodies, savory and sweet crepes. Dropped in here with friends and I enjoyed a buckwheat crepe with a filling of smoked salmon… simple, tasty and filling. We also ordered paninis, a sweet crepe, and French toast along with coffee and everyone found their food very satisfying. It is located inside Town and Country Village, a plaza in Palo Alto with has a lot of other shops, restaurants, groceries etc. So stop by in the middle of a shopping or just casually drop by to hang out with friends …… this cafe is good in every way. I was here in the weekend and it was very busy during lunch, regardless the service was very swift and courteous. There is indoor and outdoor seating, however you like it and a lot of parking available. Recommended !
Nice French coffee shop and bakery. The latte and mocca are tasty.. Pastries are fluffy and yummy. The sunny side up egg and French onion soup are ok. The French toast is really good. The service was good and the workers were friendly.
Two of us had lunch on a weekday. You order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. There was no line and the staff were friendly. We got a soup salad and Pear cheese sandwich. The food came out quickly and they have both sidewalk and inside seating. Our food was fresh and nicely presented. I found the flavors a little bland or uninspiring. My wife commented that it could be that older patrons like the very mild flavors and she was correct that the dinners did all tend to be mature. So if your looking for lunch with great service and good fresh but but not heavily seasoned this is the place for you. The bread was very good and I would go back to try more baked items.
Nestled in the heart of Palo Alto, this charming French bakery is a sanctuary for those seeking exquisite pastries and comforting beverages. On a brisk winter afternoon, I indulged in their famed hot chocolate, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. The hot chocolate was pure decadence. Rich, velvety, and not overly sweet, it struck the perfect balance between cocoa intensity and creamy indulgence. Each sip was a journey through layers of flavor, leaving a lingering warmth that was incredibly satisfying. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, offering recommendations with a genuine passion for their craft. Their warmth added to the cozy atmosphere, making the visit all the more memorable. If you find yourself in Palo Alto craving a delightful hot chocolate experience, look no further than this charming French bakery. You won't be disappointed.
I arrived at around 8:30-9:00 in the morning, ordered a takeout as it was already getting crowded. There were still a few vacant tables left. There was a line at the counter but I didn't have to wait too long to get served. I ordered Angelo on a Baguette. I love the taste, not bland at all! I love the saltiness of the prosciutto, the fresh taste of the pesto, and a little hint of sourness? Maybe vinaigrette on the greens? But anyway, I love how all the flavors come together. I truly enjoyed it. I also like the hot chocolate. Not too sweet but not bland. I got a slice of tiramisu and strawberry shortcake for dessert. I saved the tiramisu for later, but the strawberry shortcake was divine. It has shaved almonds on the side which I didn't expect I would like so much. The cream is not too sweet and the strawberries taste fresh. Also, free tart! I'm so glad I found this place. Will definitely come back!
Very busy place! But so good food! I love all bakery from Douce France! It’s so delicious 💕 Highly recommended plan to visit this place to enjoy coffee! Also I want say Thanks for all staff! They are so sweet and friendly 💕
The pastries and coffee are really tasty. The portion sizes for breakfast items and the cost are great, they are fairly standard. Some seating inside and outside, quick food service. Lots of different pastry and cake options so will have to return to try more. Walkable from Stanford campus!
Amazing Croissants, Pain aux Chocolat, and Pain aux Raisins. 5 easy stars on those. Unfortunately, the crème pâtissière in the éclair, Mille feuille, and tartine, lacked flavor and the color was also off (very pale white).

I would say this was a thoroughly solid breakfast. Not out of this world but I’d definitely go back.
I wanted to like this place. It’s cute. It’s in Palo Alto. It serves French food. I ordered a brie and pear sandwich. The bread was stale. The pear was unripe. The chopped walnuts were raw. (Why not at least a subtle roast to bring out the inherent sugar?) It was a cacophony of textures and tastes. And then there’s the curious case of the avocado toast, which tasted like a toasted piece of Safeway bread and a lifeless avocado. I’ll be back to make sure it wasn’t just a bad day. But — gosh — this wasn’t the gastronomic experience I was hoping for.
Cute patio with French vibes and a great selection of sinful deserts, crepes and brunch items. Enjoyed the fresh orange juice and coffee was marginally better than Starbucks. Poached eggs were overcooked, the bread was old and the sweet crepe could have had more nutella. Overall, recommended for brunch or coffee on a date or otherwise, but I had a better experience at Mademoiselle Colette.
Benedict was overcooked, didn't stick out (a gross mistake and this dish can no longer be called Benedict). Avocado toast was not brought to taste. Orange fresh is excellent, it is difficult to spoil it🤭. overall, nothing caught my attention, you can drop in before work and even then the prices are high for every day expensive.

Their food really good! If you're indecisive, and looking for a quick stop for lunch, this spot is good, and reliable. Their menu is varied and tasty The bad/ok: This is no code for shit, but it's always packed, and their bathroom can be better kept, honestly; if you're done eating and think about doing a quick pause and continue with your day, if you can hold it, do it.

Was craving for sweet pastry, and stopped here because of good reviews. Interior is cute and it has outdoor sitting( which is why it gets extra star) BUT! 1. Got croissants, and they mixed up my order and instead of almond ones they gave me something else that i didn’t want! And it tasted average 2. Got 2-3 different eclairs, and all of them were not fresh. Cream was fine, but the dough was so stiff and tasted like 3-5 days old pastry Unfortunately i won’t be back here, and if you end ip going, ask if it is freshly baked before you order anything !
It was late afternoon, and I ordered a pot of tea and the buckwheat crêpe La Jardinière. The tea unfortunately tasted like sugar water, and the honey appeared very diluted. The crêpe, while filled with bell peppers, artichokes, and tomato, was dry and lacked flavor. It would have greatly benefited from a sauce or some added moisture to bring the ingredients together. I’m sharing this feedback because I genuinely enjoy this place and hope the staff will take it constructively. There are many excellent tea options on the market — offering higher-quality selections would elevate the experience. Likewise, providing sauces or better seasoning for savory crêpes would make a noticeable difference. I look forward to seeing improvements, as I would love to continue supporting this café.
Completely racist staff and owner. Ignored me and made me wait for over 5 minutes with no acknowledgment and then rushed over to help other races of lighter skin. Mid coffee at best too with flies in the pastry cabinet. Get your standards up if you want to do business in Palo Alto and respect your customers.
