Love their taro pudding milk tea with less sweet, this is how i live through my monday to friday every week. The milk tea from ume tea is not too sweet or too chemical based ! It is the perfect combination of milk and tea and all those nice sweet creative little toppings. The red bean paste is quite amazing too! Highly recommend!

You order through a touch screen or via a QR code. (No personal interaction) I got the the black tea latte which comes with boba and taro. There was no milk or sweetness adjustment option for this drink. Which was a bummer. If you scan the QR code or order with the tablet you’ll see pictures of the drinks which I found helpful. I probably wouldn’t get their milk teas since they have no non dairy options but I would definitely try a fruit tea as those look yummy. The decor is cute and welcome. However the day I went in the store had no music.

Have been here a couple times and the snacks are the best out of any other boba places I have tried! Usually the quality is pretty consistent, but I have had times when there isn’t enough of the red powder, or the fried octopus is stuck in a huge clump. The boba is also pretty good, but can be heavy / very milky. Getting 50% sweet is usually is a good level for me. The ambiance of the store itself is adorable, with neon lights and stuffed animals decorating the wall. The cups that come with a plushy are also very cute and unique :)

Ume is a very cute shop. I got the surprise cup, which came with a cute whale plushie hidden in the bottom, and a grapefruit slush on top. The slush was too coarse-grained -- I would've liked a smoother blend of ice in order to make it easier to consume. Otherwise it had good flavor and I liked the grapefruit pulp. I heard they're known for their mochi milk tea drinks -- I'd try that next time.

Staff was nice. I am just a bit sad they sold out on a bag I wanted to buy. I ordered it at the kiosk, but they didn't know what it was and found out it was sold out

[update] all current services are good now I come to this store once or twice a week. Most of the staffs are very friendly and helpful and I like the drink here. But this Sunday noon, I had an awful experience. I came to pick up my grapefruit tea slushie. The new staff couldn’t figure out how to make it until asking the only male staff but still ends up wrongly adding cheese form on top of it. I literally have two questions 1. Why so many ice 2. Why cheese form on the top? For q#1 the staff could have explained to me but no. Additionally I don’t want cheese form anyway. But when I asked for a new one, The male staff just smashed the drink into the sink rudely and made another. I am not sure why he’s so mad (maybe he thought I wasn’t accepting the drink because it was made by a new staff?). I have two concerns 1. No training 2 no patience. For question #1, I might be wrong and Ice level may just be normal but if it could be explained while I am asking, I will understand. But I don’t want cheese form on top anyway (it’s not supposed to have it!), I think I have the right for a new one.

I tried a different Ume location a while ago and finally got around to trying it again, and it was much better than I remembered! They have unique and quirky drinks, which were way cheaper than I remember them being. I would come here again when I want some casual boba. Beware that there is a long line and they have a lot of delivery and online orders. It does take forever for your drink to come!

Nice. The exact same as the one on Castro (in Mountain View). The atmosphere and decorations are cute. The drinks are fine if you're craving a sugary boba.

My favorite boba tea at another new location, super cute! PS: Boba is usually good, the food has been meh lately. Fried tofu a let down three times in a row. The staff working there doesn't care. Smaller portions and doesn't taste the same as other Umes. Will skip the food for sure, and only get the tried and tested drinks.

There's several restaurants close by along with little boutiques and things. The teas could be hit or miss: sometimes they're too sweet, sometimes they're just right. I love the fruit teas, but the milk teas they have I'm not likely to order more than once. I do get the bunny surprise tea because there's a cute plushy keychain that always makes me a little bit happy! They also have bento boxes and other food options. I love their popcorn chicken. I've tried the pork belly rice bowl as well and that was okay.

This place is very cute. The price is not the best. The quality of my drink was only so-so. I ordered through the kiosk. Decent. I don't think I'll come often as it didn't wow me. The staff didn't seem very excited either. Overall I'd say 2/5. The atmosphere is a plus with the cute designs, pillows, and plushies.

This place is really cute and has an amazingly kind staff! I really enjoyed the gimmick of the Ume surprise that comes with a random small plushie but I'd have to say the drink itself was not very good - overly sweet and the boba felt overcooked :(

I’m really disappointed with the service at Ume. On August 5th around noon (Order #54263), my takoyaki and popcorn chicken were completely forgotten. I followed up four times, and each time the staff told me “just two more minutes.” After 20 minutes, I asked again—only to be told the takoyaki hadn’t even been made yet. Seriously? The customer before me, Ryan, got his food and left 10 minutes earlier, while my popcorn chicken and takoyaki still hadn’t come out. The staff was unprofessional and completely lacked a sense of time. It felt like I was being ignored repeatedly. The only reason I’m giving 3 stars is because the drink and food tasted fine. But the service was unacceptable—I won’t be returning.

I was drinking my boba always from UME but from now on I won’t. It is second time I am disappointed with the service and the quality. I would put 1 star but +1 for the girl there who is trying to satisfy all the customers. You hired bunch of people without training them properly so at the end we had to wait for 30 minutes to get just simple boba tea, staff is not careful with instructions and when I required to remake it they poured my old one to a new cup with small amounts of boba and no brown sugar syrup. Drinks look better than they taste, and quite price-y. The green tea jelly was not very flavorful, and the peach oolong tasted like a tea bag. I do like the fact that I can get zero sugar though, most places still have traces of sweetness.

Popcorn chicken was spongie dark meat chicken. Most people expect tasty white meat chicken when they eat out.

The boba was okay -- there was some kind of white jelly thing in it that clogged up my straw. But otherwise, it was okay. My order of tofu took more than 35 minutes to get completed. And the staff reacted like they didn't recognize my order the two times I checked in on its completion. My GF was disappointed bc her boba was long gone by the time the tofu was ready. I was disappointed bc what was left of my boba had gotten close to room temp. The whole point of getting snacks at a boba place is so we can eat it while drinking boba! But, anyway, let's end on a good note: The tofu tasted good. We liked that they were small cubes (so more surface area for crispiness and spices) and we liked the addition of Thai Basil.

Ive heard that the drinks are pretty good, but it didnt live up to expectations at all. I got their tangerine tea slush with tea. It was great to have all the nice citrus flavors working together, but it tasted a tad artificial like medicine, and it didnt help that the tangerine was a bit sour. Furthermore, the slush isnt really a slush, its more like roughly ground ice cubes that one could choke on. Overall, I could see it being a great concept, but this was just a sad try. I could see my drink in particular, tasting pretty good with a better jelly and a sweeter tangerine. I think for most drinks, it does taste how it loooks. We went here on a Saturday night, so it was a little busy. I was a little flustered when they took 35 minutes to make my drink and served 8 customers who had ordered after me first. But.. its okay -its stressful to work in a rush. For a place so new, I didnt expect the inner decor to be so dirty. There were clear dirt and scuff marks all over their seats and on all the plushies in the seating area. On the bright side, the pastries did look really tasty. The best part of my experience, however was when I saw them making my order and filling the blender with ice and the tangerine, and then they couldnt find the blender cover. After looking around, they dug through the dirty dishes in the sink and pulled out a cover. They proceeded to put it on the blender. Yum. Flavorful.

Drink came out and popcorn chicken took 45 more minutes to come out. Many pieces tasted fermented and not fresh. Almost swallowed a SHARP PIECE OF METAL that was in my drink. Avoid this place, they’re cheap on labor and clearly lack a sense of responsibility when serving food. They don’t even have AC for their employees.

came in the store blinded by the pink, but the details don’t matter. take 10 minutes to acknowledge me and when i tried asking them a question they rudely said they were busy takes another 10 for me to actually order my drink. they ran out of boba, the main incident in a boba place. had to get a replacement, wasn’t that bad. After finally getting my drink, i burst the cup open and it immediately started leaking everywhere. The boba replacement is tasteless, only thing good was the tea, but how can you mess up tea. Went here with my sister tonight and it took over half an hour to get two standard drinks. Several other people who were in line at around the same time had the same experience. Door Dash orders were being prioritized and though the staff was trying their best, it was really just not worth the long wait in a hectic environment.

Coming to pick my order. Only found they forgot half of my orders. We order 6 drinks+meals combos. They prepare 6 boba and 2 meals, and told me the order is ready. How could they make this simple mistake? Can’t be more careless. Wait for another 40 minutes in the store. No explain at all. Extremely bad experience. Try your best to avoid this place.

The tea is good and the staff was doing their best, but the wait was absolutely ridiculous. We waited over 30 minutes for two fairly standard drinks. This seemed as though it was because doordash orders were being prioritized.

Asian review here. Boba is way too sweet. Not sure if they are trying to cater towards more American/Western taste. Too sweet. And when we asked if they can please make it less sweet the person rolled their eyes and said no and that it was on us in a very condescending way. Also the place was too dirty, various white dried body fluids (maybe saliva?) on the surfaces, likes seats and tables, and plushies. Other Ume shops are much more accommodating. Won't be going to this Ume location again.

Got too good to go from here and we were made to wait for 30 minutes after pickup time started. They won’t give you your order until literally every other order is fulfilled. Ok?? We paid too?? What’s with the attitude. Rolling their eyes at us and telling us to stand in the corner until after they close and start cleaning up. This location is by far the worst in South Bay.

Love the combo where you can get boba and a rice bowl! Update May 2025: service is really slow. Ordering online when they open it can take over an hour for snack and drink to be ready. My online order was cancelled because the fryer was broken. I was not notified via email or cell phone. I waited and only after asking twice where my order was in-store was I informed it was cancelled.

This store is extremely unprofessional and running poorly. We have ordered through both their official website and DoorDash and for so many time they delayed the order for soooooooo long. My husband and the dasher had to wait for almost an hour for a drink or popcorn chicken. Can you believe that???

Very disappointed in this place. I accidentally placed an order online to the wrong location which, by the time I arrived at this store, had closed so I could not call them. When I explained my situation to the staff there they were so unhelpful. The manager said I should call customer service but did not give me a number (there is no number on their website or google only an email). It was incredibly difficult to track down an employee in the first place to try to help me and they were not friendly. I wasted $27 on drinks here and didn’t even get them. I was so so excited to try this place but after this experience I will not come back.

Edit: It's two days later and I've had continuous diarrhea after having the milk tea with boba. I remember that the boba felt really mushy and am almost sure this is what caused my diarrhea. Original review: Ridiculous experience. Waited 30 minutes and when I asked where my order was, was told it would be another 15 minutes. Person at the front was wasting time fumbling with straws and messing up people's orders the entire time. Ended up being 45 minutes to get my drink and it tasted odd.

This is the fourth time I’ve ordered their Pomelo Mango Sago drink- the first time it had pomelo pieces, the last three have all had a sad looking slice of grapefruit in the drink. What gives? Fix your menu instead of subbing random items. Someone people are actually not allowed to take grapefruit while on some medications so what you’re doing is dangerous!

Absolutely psychotic behavior from the boba worker present there. He refused to acknowledge me or respond. My pick up order was lying at the back counter visible. I requested several times to just wanting to collect it. Around 10 minutes later, he takes the bag and dump it in the pick up area with the drink and food falling over. He didn’t say a single word the whole time it was really strange. The tea is good, but it was really embarrassing experience to be treated so poorly in front of 10 other people in the store when all I did was ask for my order which was already prepared.

My kids love this place, but the service is consistently terrible. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I've had bad experiences every time. The restrooms are another issue. They offered refund, but no folllow up on that yet either. No one needs to be waiting 40 minutes for boba or a snack. Not to mention they were serving people who ordered after me before I had to ask any info on my order. Seems like workers just prioritize orders that are convenient over a chronological approach.
