Mama M Sushi

Came in for lunch with the family (6 ppl) on MLK day. We were quickly seated. The interior is small but they have a decent patio area. Everything we ordered was delicious. The "spicy" edamame was so addicting. It was more of a garlic flavor than actual spicy-ness, but regardless I couldn't stop eating it! The fish was so fresh in all of our entrees. Their lunch specials are a steal for the quality of food you are getting. What a great hidden gem that won't break the bank! The staff is super friendly and we had a great lunch!

Pasadena's Hidden Gem!! This place was such a wonderful surprise. I’m a sushi snob (I'll admit it) and wanted to have sushi locally. Normally I’d travel to Huntington Beach! We decided to try MAMA M Sushi and will be forever grateful we did! Not only is service amazing, their sushi is bar none. Try Albacore, Yellow Tail, and Salmon Belly-you'll understand. Also, they have this "Love at first bite" roll that will leave you wanting more. We sat at the sushi bar and Jack was such a treat! Please know that you will get what you pay for (and more) when you come here. They also have a happy hour which lets you try some amazing dishes for cheap!

LOVED this spot and would highly recommend. Not only were our rolls extremely fresh and crafted by a pro, but the service was incredible. Em was there with incredible customer service. She made a special meal even better with her attention and a few extra gyoza! The spicy tuna rolls and sashimi were seriously amazing. I will definitely be coming back to this hidden gem.

I had breakfast in mind but there was a wait so I decided to check this place out, looked intimate and cozy. I’ve been craving some beer and the cloudy weather was perfect for some Udon too. The shrimp tempura that came along with the Udon was perfectly crisp on the other hand the Crispy Tuna was a bit too crispy but all good flavors. Thinking it would be a charming place for a date in anytime of day as you get a good view of Pasadena City Hall while arriving.

One of the best Japanese / Sushi restaurants I have ever been to. Everything, and I repeat - EVERYTHING - we ordered was incredible. I highly recommend getting at least one of the sushi rolls with cream cheese - it’s a game changer. I would also highly recommend the Baby Back Ribs (Tonkotsu) Ramen, it was so so good! Super highly recommend this place.

My friend and I were very impressed with Mama M. At first I thought this was one of those Old Town trendy restaurant with mediocre food. Was I wrong. Our meal was quite tasty. You can tell the chef put thoughts into the making of the food. Flavors were balanced - not overly flavored or spiced and not overly salted. That's important to me because I want to be able to taste the freshness of the food. Not only we enjoyed our meal, we also had a nice time chatting with our friendly server M. We had a dog with us and M even brought a cup of water for him. The whole dining experience was very pleasant. The price is a bit on the higher end; however, I would still recommend this place to friends.

We use to visit here once a week for years…Lovely people, sushi is one of the best in Pasadena. Our servers are the sweetest people in the entire world! Always doing everything they can to put a smile on our face. We always have the Playboy roll, the Porkchop roll and our new favorite, their crispy rice tuna!😋🤤

Ate here today out on their patio area and have a great lunch on a sunny morning. We ordered the dragon roll, mixed tempura, soft shell crab, and a bento box and they were all delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. A little pricey but that is what you expect for Old Town. We will definitely come back.

Woah mama! This amazing little spot puts a lot of effort into crafting their sushi. The rolls are inventive and packed with fresh ingredients, and the attention to detail is evident in each dish. My favorite was the Fire Snow roll. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff is attentive. It’s a great spot for a unique sushi experience with quality ingredients and a bit of creativity. Try the sushi nachos, thank me later.

The cuisine here is fantastic. Great for satisfying the crave for sushi or Japanese cuisine. I highly recommend the bento boxes as they will easily get you full. Also, indoor dining is available! Try out their green tea while you're here, they use some premium tea.

It was my first time here, and it was so good I went back the next day. The food! In a word, wow. The food was incredible; very fresh, and the flavors of the different creations are unique (in a good way, not a weird way). There are a lot of things to try on the menu. It will take several visits to try all of these exciting creations. Even their house salad had high quality greens with a delicious light dressing. The wait staff are very friendly and attentive. The food arrived FAST! Even on a Friday night.

The service was great. Our server was nice and attentive. The menu prices are reasonable and they taste great. The location was also nice in the old town Pasadena with a free 90 minutes parking right around the corner. Here is a bonus point: you can find so many different items on their menu. Sushi, sashimi, poke, bento box, ramen, etc.

Just visited mama m sushi for our first time. Everything we ordered was absolutley delicious. The gyoza, the spicy endamame, the chicken teriyaki, the angel roll, the salmon sushi, the BAD angel roll (our favorite), the spicy crunch shrimp roll, the ginger, the wasabi, the shishito peppers were all FIRE! This is our new sushi spot. The best we have had in pasadena. All the other sushi restaraunts we have been to in the area have no point in existing.

This is a small sushi restaurant that offers a vast selection of rolls as well as sashimi and ramen. The tables are arranged too close together and one can easily hear other patrons’ conversations. The baby back ribs ramen was delicious but the ribs looked out of place on the bowl. I think it’s better served separately. The chirashi was fresh and delicious but kinda pricey. We loved the BSCR, shrimp village and spider rolls. The restaurant is worth a try but ask to be seated outside to avoid the noise.

Service - slower service and hard to flag waitress on some part of the restaurant. Didn't get soup or salad until asked. Atmosphere - place is on the smaller side but is well maintained. Parking is either street parking or nearby lot $7 / 2hr as of Sep 25. Otherwise public parking building near buca di beppo at $1/ 2hr with ~15 min walk Tl;dr - if you live or work nearby, it probably is an ok spot to go to. I wouldn't recommend driving out of your way for it.

The happy hour edamame is $5 for a small dish and the cucumber salad is also $5 for a very small dish. The fish on the sushi are thin and not tasty. We also ordered a 15 mix sashimi, $59, very thin, not even good fish. So everything adds up since they are all small portions. Definitely overpriced. This is my first and last time here. The happy hour edamame is $5 for a small dish and the cucumber salad is also $5 for a very small dish. The fish on the sushi are thin and not tasty. We also ordered a 15 mix sashimi, $59, very thin, not even good fish. So everything adds up since they are all small portions. Definitely overpriced. This is my first and last time here. Go try it yourself :)
