I have eaten and reviewed chicken sandwiches all across this country and I'm here to tell you this place is the best! Their spicy dry rub really gets UP IN THERE. I love that spicy dark meat.... Chicken sandwich! The tender was huge and delicious. Got the Mac N Cheese on a whim and it was great too. Washed it all down with lots of their delicious lemonade. Pickles, great, MC sauce, great. You can't go wrong. ❤️🔥🐓🌶🍗
I’m a big Main Chick fan because of the other chain stores I’ve visited and this spot is just as great. This spot doesn’t have a lot of indoor seating but I see mainly for to go orders. I ordered the three piece tenders and a leg quarter. Both were flavored at medium and it had just the right amount of heat and sweetness. The orange stuff is my favorite dipping sauce by far. The chicken was cooked perfectly, it was tender and juicy along with the leg quarter. I’d definitely come back here again! Main chick is probably the best chain hot fried chicken restaurant I’ve been to so far.
I got their chicken sandwich combo (#1) and chicken tender combo (#6), and man, they were mind-blowing! The chicken? Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. It was like munching on a cloud made of flavor. And guess what? It wasn't even greasy! No finger-wringing required. They said it was spicy, but I'm a spicy fiend, so take that with a grain of hot sauce. It had a kick, but nothing too crazy. In a nutshell, Main Chick Hot Chicken nailed it with their scrumptious chicken. It's crispy, juicy, and not greasy at all. If you're up for a spicy adventure, give it a shot. Your taste buds will be dancing, and your napkins will stay dry!
Absolutely insane. Chicken was extremely flavorful, juicy, crispy n spicy, all the same time. Asked the guy if 3 fingers would be enuf for me, he said it was small, so I ordered combo #4, 6 fingers. Boy, they r massive and come with a tub of fries, couldn’t finish them all, could only eat abt 5. But it was top notch taste, probably top 2 chicken I ever ate. And yea, the spicy flavor is spicy enuf; don’t get it if u r lightweight. If u want supreme, u have to sign a waiver. 😂
This place is awesome. Their hot chicken (Hattie B's quality), and their sauce are great. The fries are just perfect and their staff is friendly and very efficient. No need for the long lines and expensive prices required for the same food found in other places in PAS. We just keep coming back. It's worth it. I highly recommend it. PS: They will text great coupons to your cell once in a while. Well worth it. Thanks!
Heard great things from a friend and had to try it! Easily my favorite hot chicken place nearby. The location is a small counter with no seating, so swing by for takeout. Street parking can be hard to find but there's a garage nearby. Friendly and fast service. Standard prices for the area. The fries were underwhelming/a bit soggy, but the chicken was FANTASTIC. Crispy and flavorful while still very tender inside. Definitely recommend and will be back.
Chicken was hella juicy and hot, sauce was bomb, and fries were ... fries. Good fried chicken is hard to find in SoCal, this was pretty good.
This is an excellent Nashville style hot chicken joint in Old Town Pasadena. I first tried them at the 626 Night Market in Arcadia several years ago and tasted just like I remembered it. I got the spicy Combo #1 and the chicken was tender and the fries were seasoned well. Service is friendly and outside tables are available for eating. Street parking only.
Chicken tenders are a really nice size and the seasoning is tasty. Spice levels available and the hot is pretty darn spicy. Their bread for the sandwiches is nice and soft, slightly sweet. All around very happy with their food. The dipping sauce is on the sweet side, but works well with the spicy options. Pro tip: bringing home takeout? Throw the fries and tenders on a tray and bake @400F for about 10min for nice and crispy fries and reanimated crispy chicken crust.
I have eaten here several times and I keep going back. I stick with the medium spice for now. The flavor is amazing! The fries, M.C. sauce and chicken are fantastic, and the customer service is always exceptional. Every team member I’ve met, as well as the chefs you see in the back, have shown so much kindness. I did have an issue with an order I placed one time but they quickly resolved it. I cannot recommend this place enough!
That was some properly spicy chicken! The flavor and spice level of the 'spicy' chicken chicken was hot and just the right level for me. The seasoning on the fries was good too. The combo #2 was a pretty big amount of food and definitely enough for dinner.
Insanely good!! Best spicy chicken Iv ever had. Mild is perfect blend of lightly spice. Tasty seasonings from the fries to the chicken. I’m going back tomorrow and I just had it today.

Main Chick Hot Chicken in Pasadena is 🔥 🔥 🔥 meaning 😋 Always fresh and thier chicken taste tasty & crisp! Only drawback is that this particular Nain Chick don't have the seating so either you order togo, uses ubereats or the Doordash! Whichever, their food was amazing & you will be happy!
Tiny spot with a small seating area inside and a few tables outside. Parking kind of sucks, tey finding a spot on the street otherwise it's the public parking areas. Got combo #3 spicy and washed it down with an icy cold dr pepper. Spicy definitely wasn't spicy, should have gotten the supreme. But the flavor was delicious and the sauce was good lots of seasoning on their fries too. The texture on the breaded chicken is very thin, light and crispy. Prices are fine.
Been meaning to try this place & long day/week.....so Postmates to the rescue again. ITEM'S ORDERED: Just FYI Postmates does not have the "Supreme" spice level option. Combo 3 (2 chicken sandwiches, fries, mc sauce) "spicy" spice level Combo 5 (2 leg quarters, bun, fries, pickles, 2 mc sauce) "medium" spice level. TASTE: The food was understandably not as crisp & fresh (fries especially) since it was delivered. But it was still quite warm, & I'm pretty positive if I ate there it would have been exceptionally fresh based on how my food did arrive. Chicken sandwiches are made with a tender which is a larger size than I thought it would be. Spicy spice level is actually quite hot when I ate a piece of the tender by itself. But when eaten with everything I really liked it. It's a well executed sandwich (little sweet from the bun, crisp, fresh crunch from pickles & slaw) which is even more elevated by the mc sauce. Different chicken places all seem to have their basically "house" sauces & they are usually mayo based. This mc sauce one of the better ones I've had. It's seasoned very well & the savory flavor combines with subtle sweetness & creamy texture. Chicken quarters (medium spice level) were of course less spicy but still had good heat & flavor overall from their rub. Fries were one of my favorite cuts (crinkle) & had a good seasoning on it. Guessing it might be a little of the dry rub that goes on the chicken. All the chicken was fried perfectly, crisp enough, & definitely not dry at all. Both meals were actually a fair sized portion which made it more of a value then I initially thought it'd be. SERVICE, LOCATION & PARKING: Postmates order so no comments on service this time. Nice to see all the food packed neatly & securely in the boxes & bag. Still looked presentable when I opened it up. They are located on Union St, & there is a parking structure close by heading towards Fair Oaks Ave. Not free, but I think they charge $1-2 ever 20 min or something, so it does add up. Also, minimal metered street parking is available if you luck out. I'd just park at De Lacey Parking Facility which is also nearby (maybe like 5 min walk) & they offer 90 min free without validation. It's located on De Lacey in between Colorado & Green. Based on this positive delivery I'd definitely go here again to try for dine in The food can only get better having it fresh, right!? Plus, I see you can order directly from them online. FINAL THOUGHTS: Had Howlin' Ray's a couple months back & hard to compare without having both to taste side by side. But I'd say prefer Main Chick. Just because I do feel the rub they use on the chicken has more overall flavor aside from just that heat & also it's a better value. Plus I do find their sauce is better flavored just bringing everything together.

I would not recommend eating inside. It's loud, cramped, and uncomfortable. Just get it to go. This place makes a really good fried chicken sandwich. Well, as long as you don't get it with cheese which is just a cold slice thrown on the sandwich (why not melt it like every other fried chicken place on earth?). The problem is it's just too inconsistent. Sometimes mild is mild and sometimes mild gets you medium. Sometimes the fries are seasoned and sometimes they're not. Sometimes the sandwich and fries are piping hot and sometimes they're lukewarm. With some quality control and better service, this place could be great. But as of now, it's not worth the risk and I'd go elsewhere.
The portion size much to be desired. $18 total tax and tip for a very small portion. The cup of curry didn't have gold flakes, I dug for it. How I miss hurry curry or curry house! It did tasted good. The stuff could be hotter in temp but I went on a cold day. Ordered the "starred" chicken katsu regular on the touch screen. It wasn't overcooked, decently tender. The curry could have more depth (more spices for a more complex taste). It's not bad but for the price... Wish I had put the add-in for another $5. You order on the kiosk but yes, tipping is expected. But you are ordering from a kiosk. Picking up at the counter, clean up after yourself, BYO water, HA! This storefront (dine in) is an empty setting and no water available, A total 8 chairs facing the wall and the street, so try not to crowd it out. Cheesecake down the street better bang for the buck. Or Afghan skewers another block.. I am cheap because don't know how to find and grow a money tree.

I love this place but I'm always so hesitant to order just because of the quality of oil and ingredients they probably use. You can just tell that it's not as good as other hot chicken places which is a shame because I love the taste of main chic more than any other hot chicken.

It was my first time and I ordered three chicken tenders, which is supposed to be cheaper than the combo like every other places which is combo including three chicken tenders fries and sauce I paid more than the price of the combo. And I asked can I get sauce? She said we charge extra. Service was bad and food Quality wasn’t good.
I had a very disappointing experience at Main Chick Hot Chicken while picking up an order. When I walked in, the cook or manager on duty (I believe his name was Jose) was standing with another employee, casually chatting. He looked directly at me but never acknowledged me, never greeted me, and made no effort to assist. I stood there waiting while he continued his conversation. Another customer walked in a few minutes later and rang the doorbell for service—something I didn’t notice at first because I was focused on the employees who were already watching me stand there. Only after the second customer rang the bell did Jose finally come out to greet me, even though I had already been waiting several minutes. When I told him I was picking up an order, he checked and let me know the order wasn’t ready yet. While waiting, I politely asked if I could have the sauce that normally goes on the sandwich put on the side instead. Since the ordering site didn’t allow special requests, I came in early just to ask in person. He immediately cut me off and very rudely said, “No, we don’t do that,” without even letting me explain. I repeated my request, and again he responded rudely, saying they “can’t do that,” then walked away from me without offering any solution. I asked him to please check with the woman preparing the food (who I initially thought was the manager). I clearly heard him tell her, “She wants another sauce but I already told her no, so don’t give it to her.” At that point, she came out herself and kindly asked what was going on. After I explained, she had no issue helping me and provided the sauce right away. She was professional and respectful, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, Jose’s attitude, lack of acknowledgment, and dismissive behavior completely overshadowed the visit. No customer should be treated that way—especially when simply asking a reasonable question. I hope management addresses this, because the level of rudeness and unprofessionalism I experienced was unacceptable.
