Here on holiday with my husband and we booked this restaurant as a treat towards the end of holiday. It not only didn’t disappoint but absolutely exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived we were bowled over by the friendly welcome and beautiful venue. And the food - wow. It was the kind of meal that you never want to end it was so good. I had the duck liver with figs, followed by what I can only describe as the best venison I have ever tasted. Husband had the scallops to start which he raved about, followed by the beef fillet that was cooked to perfection. The staff were highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the food and wine, and made us feel like royalty. Really can not recommend this restaurant highly enough. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful service, with staff able to speak multiple languages, we heard them speaking German, English and Spanish. The food was amazing we all agreed it was to die for and we enjoyed every course both times we have visited. The meal is expensive but if your looking for a nice meal out when your willing to splash out a little it is highly recommended!

Having eaten in the best restaurants in London, Paris, Rome and Middle East this chef is something else. Dutch but from the French school, amazing. Scallops with more flavour than you can even imagine. Steak with Beure Paris to die for. If you love life, food, good wine and perfect ambience then look no further.

We have driven past this place for years and been meaning to eat here for a long time. It's located directly on the N332 road and doesn't look much from the outside but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. There's an outside bar and seating area and it's really cosy inside with a lovely feel. The menu is varied and everything we ordered was excellent. The venison and lamb mains were delicious and the Manchego cheesecake was outstanding. They also have a large selection of spirits and whiskeys although the brandy wasn't cheap at €16 a glass! The restaurant only opens for dinner and is closed at lunchtime but it's well worth a visit and we will definitely return.

Fantastic place. Both the food and the service is divine. They always make us feel so welcome. We always have on fish dish and one meat dish, both great. These days they also have an incredible cheesecake for dessert. If you're close, this is a must stop.

Ow just wow! What a place this is! Absolutely amazing food! Fabulous service and a relaxed cosy atmosphere. Staff were attentative, polite, and friendly. One of our party is a famous chef and he was very impressed indeed. So if you want first class food and first class service this is definately the place to go.

Deze review is eigenlijk van 8 maanden geleden. Maar er is iets mis gegaan bij Google. I april was ik er ook en ook toen erg goed. Ben er gisteren weer, alleen wezen eten en wederom voortreffelijk. Te lang geleden. Maar het is een pareltje. Vlees tot in perfectie, zelf heb ik gekozen voor de pepersaus erbij en die was voortreffelijk. De volgende keer ga ik voor de kaassaus met gorgonzola, goede huiswijn, maar op de kaart nog vele mooiere wijnen tevinden. Een aardappel gratin waar ik nog veel meer van wil. De sfeer binnen is echt super met lekkere rustige muziek (niet alleen omdat het op mijn eigenhuis lijkt😉) Dit restaurant is een echte aanrader. Het desert was een chocolate fondant met vanille ijs. Heerlijk smeuïg.

This is a difficult review to write, because I am torn between sharing an extraordinary experience and keeping a secret. If you just want to eat -don’t come to the Taberna Antigua - but if you want to celebrate excellent dining in an authentic “Spanish Ambiente”: This is the spot! A tastefully, rustic decor provides a fitting backdrop to an exquisite cuisine. We tried the “Pan de Crystal con Salmon”: A surprise for the palate. The venison is among the 3 best I have ever tasted all across Europe. And the filet - cooked to perfection. Finally the Soufflé de Chocolate formed a priceless finale. The service was matching: Professional, very friendly and efficient. This place deserves a 9.9/10!!

Si no fuera por eso, todo bien.

We were not asked if we wanted bread, 4 rolls were brought to our table with 4 tiny knobs of butter, 2 people out of 4 do not eat bread, which was left, the butter supplied hardly covered the 2 rolls eaten. We were charged 10€ . The food portions were very small, after eating 2 courses we were all still hungry, however the dessert menu was very disappointing andf nothing appealed to all 4 of us. So after a very long wait, trying to pay our bill we paid up and went to another restaurant in Ondara just for dessert and coffee. We were celebrating a special birthday and all felt a bit elated.

Nice Valentine's dinner ! But they didnt respect the course of plates and forgot to serve the sorbet. When we asked for it they proprosed a glass of cava with the dessert. Also when we asked for extra bread, they forgot.

Wieder 15 Minuten gewartet. Der Durst wurde immer größer!l Nach nochmaliger Aufforderung kam der Kellner, knallte die Dessertkarte auf den Tisch: "Postre?" Kein: Hat es geschmeckt? Darf es noch etwas sein? Bei den Preisen hatten wir eigentlich auch einen guten Service erwartet! Da waren 2,50 Euro Trinkgeld eigentlich noch zuviel! Bei gutem Service bin ich bereit das 2-3fache zu geben. Fazit: Schade, es könnte unser Stammlokal werden, aber der schlechte Service schreckt extrem ab Schade drum!! !Comida y ambiente excelente! !!Pero el servicio: deja mucho que descar!! Ästhetisch gestaltete Räume, aber sehr schwere Kost auf den Tellern. Die Vorspeisen: Lachs-und Thuncarpaccio, eigentlich einfache und leichte Gerichte, wurden hier durch völlig unnötige und stark überwürzte Soßen bis zur Unkenntlichkeit und Ungenießbarkeit verdorben. Ein Grund könnte die mangelhafte Qualität der Produkte gewesen sein. Die Hauptspeisen: Kalbfleischragout und gebratene Entenleber. Hier das Gleiche und noch etwas schlimmer: Das Ragout lag unter einer Art Trockenstroh- es sollte Lauch sein, wie mir die Wirtin sagte- und einer dicklichen, penetrant schmeckenden Soße mit unförmigen halbrohen Gemüsestückchen begraben. Es war ungenießbar und wurde von der Wirtin auf meine Beschwerde zurück in die Küche getragen. Zurück zu mir kam ein leergeräumter Teller mit einigen zähen Fleischstücken ! Das Ganze wurde mit 32 Euro berechnet! Meine Frau erhielt einen großen Suppenteller mit einer kleinen Portion Entenleber, die Leber eigentlich ganz gut, wäre da nicht wieder der Koch auf die unheilvolle Idee, alles mit einer penetranten Soße zu überschütten, gekommen. Wir verzichteten auf den Nachtisch und bezahlten - mit einem Glas Wein und zwei kleinen Sprudelflaschen sowie drei Brötchen - sage und schreibe 104 Euro. Trinkgeld gab es keins, schon wegen der patzigen Verhaltensweise des Personals. Ein verdorbener Abend, den man niemandem wünscht. Und das bei völlig unangemessenen Wartezeiten auf das Essen. Mehrere Gäste beschwerten sich - wie wir beobachteten - über diese schleppende Bedienung. Wir raten vom Besuch dieses Lokals ab.

I’d love to give this place a great review for its food. But I can’t because they don’t answer emails, don’t reply to the “Contact Form” on their website and when you phone them up to make a reservation, they pick up the phone then hang up without even speaking. Not an error, they’ve done it THREE times to us (09/24/2025) so it’s quite deliberate. I don’t care how nice the food is, their service is disgraceful. Even if they’re full, it’s not that hard to be pleasant and say that to prospective clients. Epic fail. There are many great restaurants in the Denia/Xabia area who treat customers with decency and respect. Try them instead.
