Steak 48 - Philadelphia

Cheers to great friends and a great dinner experience! Norell made fantastic suggestions at the bar and started us off to a great evening. We we able to snag the booth and that was a delight! The wagu was everything!!!! Treat yourself! Great food. Top notch service. And friends to share it with! Perfect night! We will back!

Steak 48 Philadelphia really hit the mark with quality, taste, and atmosphere. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic steakhouse experience in Philly. The steak was incredibly juicy, cooked to perfection, and seasoned just right. Its texture and flavor were simply top-notch. The roasted brussels sprouts were a great match for the meal, boasting a deep, rich taste. The cocktail was well-balanced, which definitely enhanced the whole dinner vibe. Plus, everything looked amazing, from the food to the drinks.

I had a dinner reservation for my birthday on Saturday January 10th and upon arrival we were greeted right away. The entire staff is very friendly and our waitress Em was amazing. She took her time to go over the menu with us and provided us with detailed information. She also had some great recommendations on the food and drinks. The manager called the next day to make sure we had a great time and that was very pleasant.

We had a reservation. It did take a little while for them to acknowledge us at the hostess stand. It was a Saturday night and it was chaotic. Other than that everything was wonderful. We were celebrating an anniversary and they really made a big deal about it. We turned down desert because we were so full but they brought us a dessert on the house acknowledging the anniversary. Phenomenal service and food. We will be back.

Restaurant was very nice and very expensive. Luis was a new server and did a great job for us. Drinks were excellent. I had the bone in ribeye that was outstanding. Wife had the petite filet. She wished she would have gotten it medium or less. Apps were great. We tried the braised pork belly. Yellow tail and a crab avocado stack. All fresh, well balanced and tasty. Transitioned with a wedge salad that we split and had plenty each. We went with the potatoes au gratin for the sides with the steak. Very good choice. Finished with a coffee and then triple chocolate cake. Which was plenty to share.

We were taken care of by Ean A. for our 3rd anniversary. Single handedly the best service we’ve gotten. Attentive, respectful, and talkative at the right times. When we go again, we’ll definitely make sure he’s our waiter! Food was amazing, drinks as well, it wasn’t loud, & so beautiful inside. Amazing first impression.

We had an incredible experience at Steak 48, and our server Lamar truly made the night unforgettable. From the moment we sat down, he was warm, professional, and so knowledgeable about the menu. His recommendations were spot on, the timing of everything was perfect, and he struck that rare balance of being attentive without ever hovering. You can tell he genuinely cares about creating a great experience for his guests. Service like that elevates the entire evening — we’ll absolutely be back and will request Lamar again!

Super expensive! Now that that's out of the way lol the experience was worth it. We had a table with a view into the kitchen which was wonderful, and they put us there themselves without our asking. The servers were great, explaining the food options and making suggestions. I will admit we did feel rushed towards the end by a busboy who kept twirling an empty water bottle but not clearing anything but that was a minor blip in the evening. The food was delicious though my steak could have used more seasoning it was cooked perfectly. The cocktail shrimp was juicy and huge (maybe not worth $12 a piece though) con there were shells in the seafood pasta just a few but very noticeable in the crab. Lamb meatballs were delicious. I could forego the hanging bacon next time lol. All in all we had an excellent time!

I’m writing this review due to a serious food safety issue from our visit on November 13th at 9 PM. We were a table of two and ordered the seared scallop & caviar, two NY strip steaks (medium rare), a mushroom side dish, one glass of wine, and one cocktail. A few hours after the meal, my friend became violently sick with vomiting, chills, and diarrhea. About 24 hours later, I experienced the exact same symptoms. We hadn’t eaten anything else together before or after this dinner, so the timing is extremely concerning. We also called the restaurant to report the incident and someone followed up once, but afterward no one responded or addressed the issue further. This experience was alarming and disappointing, and I hope management conducts a proper investigation to prevent this from happening to others.

I’m writing this review as I am leaving. Terrible terrible grade of steak. I ordered the 22oz, 45 day aged ribeye. It was tough, unseasoned, and had a smell to it. Which is unacceptable from a steakhouse, one that forces a gratuity at that. An outlaw ribeye from Longhorn overshot this steak by more than half, and I feel that is saying something. The red velvet bread pudding was the best part of the meal, which was very decadent; I really enjoyed it. The crispy shrimp was good too. All in all, we spent $580 as a party of two ($615 if you count valet), a very large waste considering I didn’t finish even a quarter of the steak, and it smells too bad to even put in the car. Outside of the food, our table wasn’t ready, and they had several customers waiting at the host stand where it was beyond freezing, with no seating. They had a heater at the valet stand, but nothing beyond that. I felt bad for the lady they had standing at the second set of doors because she was getting the worst of it, as people kept going in and out at least every 2-3 minutes. Our waiters were nice, but nothing special.
