Ocean Lounge @ Holland House

Always a great time at Ocean Lounge at the Holland House, great food, wonderful Caribbean service and a just gorgeous setting! It just never dissapoints 😊 Chef Wendell always does an effort when we come here, for dinner we mostly try there We Are SXM 3-course dinner special at $39 dollars. They’ll ask you fish, meat or mix and the chef surprises you. When we went we enjoyed a vitello tonato as appetizer, just well balanced and flavored. Afterwards my girl had the Salmon which was perfectly cooked and came with a side of mash and grilled veggies. Myself I had a steiploing steak which was well cooked as I liked (med/rare) also served with mash and grilled veggies. As a dessert we had the crème brûlée and this was just superb!!! All was very tasty and the only point of improvement I could give is maybe the presentation of the plates but otherwise a perfect restaurants in a nice setting. We also went back once for a beach day and got beach chairs and lunch at the beach with ocean lounge, we ordered our all time favorite: the Tuna sandwich. This crunchy grilled tomato bread sandwich with Sashimi Grade Tuna, wasabi mayonaise, salad, wakame salad and a soy/lime dressing will blow your mind. It will be the best sandwich you’ve had in ages and you will come back for more 😉 Enjoy all the pictures below and see why you should visit Ocean Lounge at least once during your stay! This restaurant is AMAZING!! The food was so good, and my Manhattan drink was also superb. The scenery beautiful, and wait staff very good.

Brought our own beach chairs, and servers from Ocean Lounge still served us on the beach. The two gentleman were fun, lively, kind, and service was good. Drinks were strong and delicious, only had the calamari here, it was stale tasting and chewy.

Very chic open air bar and hotel with an affordable special: 2 chairs, umbrella, and 4 beers. The bartender Torrey makes the best Dirty Martini I've had in the Caribbean and many other artisan cocktails🍸

One of the best customer service experience. Shoutout to entire staff. The dinner menu options felt limited, but the food was very delicious. Their lunch menu seems to have a better variety of options. Would definitely try the lunch options next time

One of my favorite restaurants on the island. The view, ambience, the food, service, vibes, were absolutely amazing. Gorgeous location with oceanfront views. 10/10 recommend and already planning a trip back.

The tuna poke bowl was perfection and the fruit laden mango Sangria was delicious. Friendly staff with ocean views. Highly recommend. We will be back.

Location is next to the boardwalk and you get a great view of the beach. This place is very elegant and the bartender made very delicious drinks. The loaded nachos and chicken wings were marvelous.

This place is modern and sophisticated with a nice bar and restaurant. It's right on the boardwalk at Phillipsburg and with a beach outlook per pix below. We sat an enjoyed the afternoon in the bar and then had some light dinner in the restaurant. The service was good and I'd happily return.

Lovely restaurant on the beach Aak for Jessica, she is great. We had a very nice dinner, my wife had a pumpkin soup, and we shared a red snapper with a crab meat topping. Had a bottle of sauvignon blanc and dining next to the beach, what could be wrong with that?

Excellent food. The US$25 beach package includes 4 drinks, beach chairs and an umbrella, and use of the shower facilities. Absolutely worth it!

You will not find more professional, caring, FRIENDLY, restaraunt staff on the Boardwalk. These folks are the very best! The food is consistently good, and it’s just a pleasure coming here. *They predominantly serve guests at the hotel, but if there’s room they will fit you in :-)

Great service and views from second floor outdoor space overlooking the beach. We had lunch there while exploring the shops and the Star Wars shop, called That Yoda Guy. Food is typical bar food style but tasted great. The burger was cooked perfectly!

Had an incredible dinner here. This was our favorite restaurant of the trip. Every dish we ordered was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the grouper. The drinks were equally as good. We enjoyed the atmosphere and had excellent service.

Honestly, one of the best places I have ever been. The burger I had was amazing, the waitresses were so friendly and nice, and the atmosphere is great! Recommending this to everyone!

The beautiful view and incredible chicken satay is what has me giving this place a 5 star atmosphere! Unfortunately the drinks totally missed the mark…too sweet and too much ice in my mojito, very little alcohol to justify almost a $16 dollar mojito! On the island I’ve had one for $5 that was twice as delicious and 1/3 of the price. I definitely recommend the chicken satay…the peanut sauce was divine. This is a great spot to sit and take a shopping break! We enjoyed the views and a peaceful cool covering from the hot day!

Went here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. The restaurant has a great view of the beach and boardwalk. It has a very calm and welcoming ambiance with music that is not too loud. The waitstaff is incredibly friendly and hospitable. My date had the Ocean Lounge Salad which contained various proteins with a generous portion! She said it was tasty! I chose the Tuna Sandwich, one of my favorites - I highly recommend! For dessert my date chose the Chocolate Lava Cake. It had great flavor and reasonable portion to satisfy sweet tooth needs. Definitely returning !

The atmosphere is very nice compare to what you can find around. The tuna tataki was amazing. The service not so good. They got sparkling water instead of still water. They brought us the wrong dishes and remake our dishes making us wait long time and in the end the also rush us to pay and close. Be sure to be here not too late.

The food is exquisite. Complex in flavor profiles at every turn. The staff is friendly and very professional. My only complaint, and it is a big one, is the “the house” charges a 10% service fee for your food which is NOT a tip for the wait staff. So when i purchased an expensive bottle of wine with my meal (dinner was $145 for 2 but we bought a $279 bottle of wine) the restaurant charged us $42 for a service fee that had nothing to do with the waiter not service. Overall a great place but this practice has to end

Really friendly staff. Food was quite good but we thought a bit overpriced even considering the location. Food took a bit of time as well. All in all would eat here again.

Atmosphere and service were top notch. Ashana (waitress) was amazing, we had a blast. We laughed and gave each other a hard time. Ask for her if you stop by!

This food is tasteful, refined, sophisticated, discerning, elegant, cultured, polished, refined, classy, stylish.

Nice location, but you will be looking at the marina and cruise ship port. There are better views. The food was good (the tuna was excellent). The service fee on the check is just dumb. Essentially, they are lying to every patron when the menu is brought to the table. A great restaurant is focused on quality meals in relation to the cost. This place is 300 yards from the cruise terminal, and is preying on the one-and-done customer. Would maybe suggest Bamboo House instead.

This place is located directly on the beach, which is very nice the view. The waitress wasn’t the friendliest. The food was good, brisket and pasta was good.

Changing my review from 5/3 as now the prices are outrageous and my meal was ok. The sweet potato soup, and tuna tatake were great. My husband has a shellfish allergy and to swap out the shrimp for scallops they wanted to make it from 32 to 44 and it’s mainly pasta, so he went with the burger. The wine prices are outrageous coming from NY travelers. The French wine wasn’t bad but still we know restaurant owners in the island and ocean has just gotten out of control. My spinach ravioli was just ok, had just a mushroom gravy which was plain. Now the tips: service charge is for hotel staff NOT THE WAIT STAFF! Now you need to tip the wait staff on top. So if you buy a $200 bottle of wine you are not only being taxed but the service charge goes to the hotel staff when I’m not even staying there. Beautiful scenery and atmosphere but it's not the best meal I've ever had.

Hotel rooms are sub standard, the area that the hotel everything close at 6 , including restaurants. Would never stay here again But staff at front desk where very helpful and nice .

We went for dinner and parking was a nightmare. They didn’t tell us their parking was on one street over and someone had to let us in. It took us 30 minutes to park. The service was ok. The food was very expensive. It wasn’t bad but not sure it was worth the prices. You are paying for the view. I would not go back. They asked if we were celebrating a birthday and then did nothing about it.

The chicken sates tasted pretty good, but were cold when they were served. The kroepoek was so stale, that you could bend it into shapes. Service was lacking. We emptied several drinks, received new drinks and nobody bothered to take the empty glasses/cans. The prices are very high, which is acceptable if you deliver premium food with premium service. Holland House missed the bar on everything. Very disappointing… Don’t waste your money and eat somewhere else.

Service was so slow it took an hour just to get the appetizer. Drink: Hendrick's Cooler ... Hendrick's gin, St. 12 Germain, cucumber, mint leaves, soda water, sugar syrup. 2 ⭐️Mediocre also there was no mint in the drink and something else was missing. Appetizer: CALAMARI ... Deep fried crispy calamari with a garlic and creamy sriracha sauce. 2⭐️ Dinner: Rib-Eye ... 12 oz - grilled and buttered with peppercorn sauce. 2 sides - mashed potatoes and side salad. 3⭐️ peppercorn sauce was the best salad was gross. My friend had Beef short rib ... Slow cooked with caramelized port reduction and served with cassava croquette. Sides she picked the roasted potatoes. 2⭐️ she was really looking forward to the croquettes which never came. Recommendations: stop by the lounge for a drink and app enjoy the beautiful weather and the bougainvillea trees. If you enjoy horrific service and overpriced food the Ocean lounge restaurant @hollandhouse is for you just don’t go hungry 🤤. Way overpriced for food and service received. FYI there is valet parking we came at night for a late dinner we asked the woman that happened to be out front where to park she obviously did not know about the valet. We ended up parking pretty far away there are shady characters lurking in some of the alleys so we walked on the main streets which took much longer. Food has gone to hell in a hand basket. Been coming here for decades. They could not bring out food as ordered. Lots of customers complaining. Bartenders are making excuses for how horrid the kitchen is. Clearly they lost a chef or management.

This is one of the most expensive restaurants along the beach strip, but I decided to give it a try based on the reviews. $26 for a poke bowl: pretty good although the amount of protein given was on the light side. $30 for the lobster ravioli: decent flavor but on the smaller side and the sauce was more like a brothy soup. The service was really lacking. The waitress was indifferent and rarely came by. We had to get water ourselves at one point. What really gets me is the menu clearly states "10% Service Charge is added." That's fine for St Maarten. But when the bill came, the waitress made a point of saying they don't get any of that and she doesn't know why it's worded that way. The 10% just pads the hotel's bottom line and the tip is extra. That expensive $26 poke? $28.60 in reality with the hidden charge. That overpriced $30 ravioli that wasn't big enough for lunch? Actually $33. Skip this place. Plenty of better and cheaper options along the beach that don't try and rip you off. Or even better, just walk a couple streets away from the beach and eat where the locals eat.

This was by far the worst service we experienced during our trip across the islands. We were a group of six and approached one of the servers to request a table. She immediately told us they could not seat us because there were no tables available. However, there were several empty four-person tables clearly open. We politely asked if we could sit separately at two tables, and she still refused. I then spoke with what seemed to be the head server to explain that we were a family of six and were perfectly fine being seated at two different tables. Her response was surprisingly unfriendly and dismissive, once again saying they could not accommodate us—with no explanation. Given the number of available tables and the staff’s complete unwillingness to offer even the most basic courtesy or flexibility, the experience felt discriminatory and deeply disrespectful. We left feeling unwelcome and singled out for no valid reason. If I could give this place zero stars, I absolutely would, but unfortunately that wasn’t an option. Based on the way we were treated, we cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Over $200 for some overcooked scallops, duck the consitency of rubber, another subpar entree so bad I seem to have blocked it out of my memory, and a couple drinks. Also I left a generous tip before realizing they charge a 10% service fee. The older crowd this place attracts must not have any taste buds left.
