Opinions de The Neighborly Phoenix
The Neighborly has quickly become one of my favorite places to dine! The atmosphere is fantastic, warm, inviting, and just feels like the kind of place you want to spend a relaxing evening. The food menu is where this place really shines. I had an incredible meal on my last visit, focusing on their happy hour: Charred Brussels Sprouts: Absolutely fantastic. They had a great char and perfect seasoning, making them totally addictive. Oysters Rockefeller: These were spot on. Rich, savory, and cooked beautifully, a real treat. Wings (sauce on the side): The wings themselves were crispy and flavorful, and having the sauce on the side meant I could control the heat perfectly. Skillet Short Rib Nachos: If you need a serious comfort food fix, order these. The short rib was fork-tender, and the skillet kept everything warm and gooey. They are dangerously good. The food easily hits a 5-star mark for flavor and execution. You absolutely must try the food here! This is a must-visit.
Our last night in Phoenix and I picked The Neighborly to go to for dinner, and boy am I glad we did! Alex M was our server, but everyone that attended to us were wonderful, from the hostess that sat us, to the young woman who brought us our drinks and our dessert. I had ordered the Brussels sprouts for an appetizer and... OMG! They were absolutely amazing 🤩. I had the prime rib for dinner as well and it did disappoint. My son and I were already full but we ordered dessert to share... brown butter yellow cake with ice cream and fresh whipped cream... that was scrumptious! All these calories were worth it!
An amazing, fresh, innovative spot! Stoped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by how amazing it was. Everything was fresh and exceeded our expectations, we tried the Club and the French dip. It was something we’re planning to come back and get again. We capped off our lunch with a fresh piece of key lime pie. We’ve had our fair share of them, and this was the closest thing to Miami Florida we’ve had! We’ll be back!
Took my wife there for date night; it was nice to go someplace casual that still takes reservations. It was our first time there, and we got there a little early. No worries, they happily seated us in a nice booth out of the way. We each had a drink and a spinach dip appetizer (see pic). For dinner, I had the Prime Rib and it was one of the better PRs I've ever had. My wife chose the filet, and really liked hers as well. We finished off with their butter cake dessert, which was absolutely to die for! Service was great. Kira took care of us, while also tending bar. She was attentive and made sure we were enjoying our evening. She also made some awesome drinks! It won't be our last time for sure. Thanks to Kira and the staff for a perfect date night.
It’s a Saturday, early evening 6:15, and it’s busy. I didn’t have a reservation, found a couple seats at the bar, extremely high bar stools! We sat near the pass. Service was amazing. Started off with a Whistle Pig Old Fashioned. It was extremely sweet for my liking. $22 for that cocktail. 🍹 😕 I ordered the cast iron skillet, green chile cornbread with honey butter. It was delicious and cake like . The chiles were not spicy. 😢 My husband loved it. Next i ordered the broiled oysters Rockefeller. This was the highlight of the meal. So rich with the creamed spinach and bacon. 🦪 💥 My husband ordered the pork Milanese for his entree. It looked wonderful. It is a plateful! Be forewarned. A couple could easily share this with an added side dish. I ordered the Uptown Caesar with blackened salmon. The salmon was cooked to perfection and not too salty for being blackened . Cudos for that! The Caesar dressing had a wonderful creamy lemon and smoked anchovy taste. 🍋 🥬 Paired well with the salmon and The Frank Family chardonnay. The wine 🍷 was half price due to their July special. 😊 We really enjoyed our meal and watching the pass line. Would go back.
Dined Saturday night August 2nd at 8:30 p.m.. order the cheeseburger and date salad. Best prepared meals I have had in a long while. Cheeseburger meat was magnificently marinaded with great love. The salad was incredible also with the plethora of beans cheese avocado, nuts, and housemaid croutons that were fabulous. I plan to make this a regular dining treat. Hats off to the chefs in the kitchen that do a remarkable job.
What a great find! Everything we ordered was great! Starting with happy hour and $6 mini tinis...all were amazing. We started with tempura beans drizzled with honey, halibut tostada, and deviled eggs all of which were very good. I ordered the French dip sandwich, the meat was shaved prime rib with creamy horseradish, and was one of the best I have had (I will substitute the bread next time as the bottom of the roll was solid sesame seeds). The other person I was with ordered a daily special called picnic basket which was like a sampler platter of very moist bbq chicken and ribs, with their famous cornbread and coleslaw...yummy!! We ended with the BEST coconut pie ever...so good I didn't get a pic lol. We will be back!
Beautiful interior with spacious, comfy seating and music that’s just the right volume—background vibes without having to yell. The menu gives old-school steakhouse energy, but still has a hip, modern twist that even Gen Z would appreciate. They also have a nice patio that looked pretty comfortable. It was a bit hot when we went, but definitely still seemed like a solid option if you're up for some fresh air. Grace and Abby were both fantastic—super attentive, along with the rest of the wait staff. We never had to wait long for water or a drink refill, which always makes a huge difference. Drinks? Solid lineup, but the Badass Mule stole the show. Badass Mule – Easily the best drink of the night. That kick of black pepper and ginger hits just right—spicy in the best way—and the fresh mint on top made it even better. Good Day Sunshine – Tart but sweet, like a grown-up lemonade with real grapefruit juice. Super refreshing. Pear-y Bradshaw – Very smooth, nice pear flavor without being too much. The orange note is subtle but gives it a nice finish. Pineapple Infusion – A little vodka-heavy on its own, but the pineapple aroma is lovely. Would probably shine better in a mixed cocktail. Peach Tea Old Fashioned – Bourbon-forward, with just a hint of peach. If you're a bourbon drinker, it's a win. It's definitely a summer evening drink. Food notes: Deviled Eggs – Kind of a miss. The capers were overly salty and didn’t add much. We picked them off and it helped, but still salty overall. Also, heavy on the filling—not necessarily bad, just a bit much. Oysters Rockefeller – First time trying Rockefeller-style and wow. Rich, creamy, a little ocean-y, kind of like spinach dip meets oysters. So good. Butcher’s Cut 12 oz NY Strip – black and bleu, medium. Flavor was solid—great char, well-seasoned, and the roasted cipollini onion with balsamic glaze was a great pairing. The steak was a bit tougher than I’d expect from a NY strip, but that's likely more the quality of the meat than the quality of the chef (who knocked it out of the park!) . Baked potato was fluffy, loaded with all the right stuff... but honestly disappointing that there was barely any butter. The bleu cheese whipped butter, though? Absolute star. Rich, funky, garlicky—everything you want in a steak topping. Overall, great spot with strong service and solid food. Definitely coming back to try the cornbread and rotisserie chicken next time.
Food was fantastic, had the sliders, the brussel sprouts and the ahi tuna, wife and son the chicken all extremely happy, also level above professional service, definitely going back, also great happy hour prices that run all night on Monday, the pour on the wines is generous, the wine excellent, try the Malbec
Excellent experience here. One of my new all-time favorites! Best Brussels sprouts I’ve ever had. We also enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, sesame ahi, and crab cakes. For dessert we tried butter cake and coconut pie, both delicious. I will definitely be back.
Most delicious French dip sandwich we have ever had. My only suggestion is they use a dense French bread or sourdough roll so that it holds up better when it’s dipped in the au jus. Sat at the bar. Good service from the bartenders, even though a bit robotic. Beautiful decor and chill vibe. Will definitely return and try something else on the menu because everything that was brought out of the kitchen looked amazing.
An incredible dinner! It was our first time trying The Neighborly. We started off with the Burrata BLT and the New School Spinach Dip as appetizers, both were great. Our server was kind enough to bring us the Cast Iron Cornbread as a courtesy, which was also great. The honey butter on top is amazing. For our meals we ordered the Braised Short Ribs, the Baby Back Ribs, and a bowl of Lobster Bisque Soup. All very delicious and the portion sizes are great for the price. We all were very full and opted to skip desert, but once again our server was too kind and gave us a serving of the Butter Cake as a courtesy. That was delicious, we’ll be sure not skip out on that next time we visit. Overall a great dinner, we will absolutely be back to try more!
Friend had the seared ahi tuna and loved it. I had the short rib that was tender with a wonderful flavor. We started with the guacamole. Split the key lime pie for dessert. One of the best in Arizona. Service was friendly and attentive as with all of the sister restaurants (Collins Small Batch Kitchen and the Macintosh). Restaurant decor is tasteful, and there is a large outdoor dining patio.
Love my appetizer tuna and the brownie with vanilla ice cream it rock. The best Cole salad and mash potatoes. Totally disliked the chowder fries the fries were fried to perfection but no flavor of clam chowder. Came back and it did not fail again good food and service. Ask for Jenny my server professional and made me feel at home🙌 great outside sitting⭐️⭐️
Amazing! Went here for my birthday dinner. We are always going out and trying new places, I'm so happy we took the drive to come here. The food was amazing, and the service was wonderful. The manager took extra care for my special day. Super kind, and got to enjoy some extra dishes. You can not go wrong with dining here. We will most definitely be back and will share with friends that this is a must-have dinner spot! Don't skip out on the Brussel sprouts!
The food drinks are delicious. The customer service in on another level as the waiters to the hostess will make sure you drinks alway filled and you table is clean. For starters we had the artichoke dip and the corn bread to die for and our main meal was the baby back ribs and crab cakes. The portion sizes are enough to share and everything was delicious. Will definitely go back.
Great dining experience! They really know how to treat you on your first time in. Thank you for a wonderful meal and overall service. We ordered 2 appetizers and they complimentary gave us the spinach dip. When we finished with dinner we made room for dessert and they also included a complimentary one for us.
We we’re invited to try a few desserts to sample the upcoming restaurant week menu May 17-26, 2024. We always enjoy a good meal at Neighborly, and this event was no exception. We tried the dark chocolate toffee brownie, which was literally the best thing I’ve ever had. I think it’s the toffee crumbles and sea salt flakes! Literal perfection. We also tried the coconut cream pie and it’s obvious it is winning great texture and consistency. 👏🏼👏🏼 and the other dessert we were able to enjoy was the chocolate mousse pie, which is a Ghirardelli semi sweet chocolate pie with Oreo crust and chopped cocoa, which appears to just be on this special menu offering. And last, but not least we enjoyed their espresso old fashioned topped with gold flakes. While we’ve dine in in the downstairs space many times before this was the first time we were able to go upstairs and the center bar is epic. I kept thinking about how it would be so fun to host a private event up there take over the whole space. But we can’t wait to come back and try a few more items on the restaurant week menu.
Absolutely loved this place! Beautiful and interesting exterior. Lovely, cozy patio and very cool interior that you come to expect with The Collins Family of Restaurants. Had a reservation on a Friday night. Met with very friendly hostess staff and lead to a great booth. Service at these restaurants is always the best. Everyone knows their menu and genuinely seem to love their guests. Cocktails are always fantastic. Appetizers.. not a bad one on the menu. Always gonna recommend the Brussels sprouts. Crave those regularly. Entrees are top notch. Ribs, short ribs, fish, sandwiches, sides.. can’t go wrong. Desserts.. well don’t skip these. They have the best coconut cream pie around and the butter cake was fantastic too. Again, love this place. Will be back!
It's not often I give 5 stars across the board, but The Neighborly well deserves them. First, our server, Ethan was attentive, conversational, and humorous. The staff ensured food delivered timely. The food was well prepared and presented. And lastly, the atmosphere was lively but at a volume where normal conversation could be had. Just wonderful and we will be back!!
Birthday dinner and we were not disappointed! The service was excellent! Callie, our server was knowledgeable and patient as this was our first time. A party of 6 can be difficult but she and the other staff were attentive and never missed a beat from drink refills to our questions to the perfect timing of bringing out our food. The food. We started with spinach dip and someone ordered the clam chowder soup, DELICIOUS! Dinner was the short rib n goat cheese mashed potatoes with greens, rotisserie chicken with onions and mushrooms, cesar salad with jumbo fried shrimp and baby back ribs with slaw, DELICIOUS! We were treated to key lime pie, butter cake and chocolate pie a la mode and it was heavenly! Can’t wait to go back, when it’s cooler so we can enjoy the outdoor seating but first, this review!! You absolutely get what you pay for!!
The entire staff is welcoming. I love everything on the menu & they have a great happy hour menu too. I can't say enough about the quality and quantity of each dish! We sat at the bar. This is one of my favorites and can't wait to come back. Their happy hour menu is so worth it check out my pictures.
Grace was our server, with Abby providing backup Pear-y Bradshaw Tito's, orange liqueur, citric acid, St. George's spiced pear SMOOTH! The pear is pronounced, but not overbearing, overall very light and refreshing Pineapple infusion Really good pineapple presence, smooth, would be better chilled (recommend on the rocks) PEACH TEA OLD FASHIONED infused old forester. crème de pêche lemon cordial I tried this, but I wasn't a fan, so I switched with my wife for her Badass Mule BADASS MULE ketel one. black pepper ginger syrup. clüb soda lime squeeze. angostura bitters MUCH more my style, love the pepper bite, still quite refreshing BROILED OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER house specialty creamy spinach bacon. crystal's hot sauce Very creamy, nice spinach flavor, goes down so well DEVILED EGGS whipped yolks. sweet relish. smoked paprika Yolk stacked HIGH, a bit on the dry side, capers on top (not a fan), just ok We split the butcher's cut, a New York strip served black and blue, with a loaded baked potato Steak was cooked properly, a nice medium, topped with a creamy blue cheese butter, served with a cipollini onion covered with balsamic, my only complaint is the potato wasn't seasoned before topping it The decor and the menu lends itself to that sort of old school steakhouse experience, something that your grandfather would appreciate the menu for, but you and your friends like the vibe Great service, nice atmosphere, delicious food Would recommended, would return
Situated right near Camelback Mt. I had expected there'd be second floor seating that took advantage of that, but we could either sit inside (pleasant booths and bar area, but nothing special) or outside looking at the parking lot and hearing the traffic. Make sure you take time to look at the cool mural on the side of the building. From start to finish the service was attentive and friendly, and the creative menu was fun with little details that made all the difference, and I think there is local sourcing for most items which always impresses me. The burrata appetizer was made better by its enhancement with corn bread croutons and the bacon steak had a perfectly prepared "jammy egg." The braised short ribs over garlic risotto with crispy Brussels leaves and hoisin redux was certainly tasty, but left us mighty hungry and probably would have benefited by having actual Brussels sprouts rather than just the leaves which were basically just a garnish, esp. since I saw delicious looking whole roasted Brussels go by to another table. The sticky baby back ribs were succulent and lip smacking, but needed something along with the slaw: for example, a wedge of cornbread (skillet corn bread went by and looked great, but I didn't need $12 worth) biscuit, or some starch would have been appreciated. Pie desserts were perfect and the coconut cream pie and chocolate mousse pie was delish, but a little too much of a sliver than a slice, but I had to bring a slice home to an coconut cream pie fan and was pleased the to-go box was not styrofoam, but cardboard. The bathroom was clean and well stocked too, which is always nice to see.
Came here for dinner and was not disappointed. The outdoor seating area is made so it's completely shaded by the building at dinnertime. During happy hour, you could get filled by the different appetizers alone. Chowder Fries, poke or the burrata are recommended. For those with kids, the food they bring for kids is a full tray with fruit and dessert for them in addition to their entree and side. I think it's ingenious. Staff was very friendly and fast. They were on top of things to get drinks out, appetizers ordered and on the table, etc.
Very nice dinner date. We had drinks, grilled swordfish & oysters Rockefeller and ordered the butter cake. The server gave us an extra dessert - coconut pie as well. Everything was delicious, mostly homemade, service was excellent except they were busy and a bit slow - hence the gift dessert. Def worth stopping in - every plate we saw looked great.
I had a chance to stop here and have dinner. We had a shrimp platter, a burger, crab cakes, and a lobster roll. Started with an artichoke app, and chips. It all was very good!! I actually love the place. I love the decor and the patio. Did you see the grill lines on the lobster roll? And then there was the crab cakes….lump crab crab cakes. Not all till like other places!! I loved them. The burger had an jicama slaw on it and it was fantastic. The shrimp were very good. Not over cooked, crispy breading and fresh tender shrimp in the inside…..I fell in love! Thank you for the wonderful meal and I’ll see you soon!!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING experience and dinner! I'm visiting for our AMTA Board conference this week into the weekend and I was suggested to come visit this restaurant. Read most of the great reviews and I came with my team. Our server Alexis was absolutely Outstanding! The level of customer service was extremely professional & gentle. Pictures below is a taste of what we ordered. Appetizers we're my favorite Brussel Sprouts which had with pieces of roasted garlic gloves and very thick but well done chuncks of bacon! Artichokes, corn bread, tortilla chips with Artichoke dip. Drinks were beautiful! Main course, I had the Salmon & they were kind enough to substitute with mashed buttery potatoes and a side of the suated Chard & Parm-cheese. My team had a variety of meals. Being the steak plate was a hit. Definitely worth the visit for a upscale setting and meal. Enjoy!🍸
We had such an amazing brunch here! They accommodated our large reservation so amazingly well. I felt like this was the best service I’ve had at all of Phoenix, thank you so much for taking such good care of us! I would love to come back and enjoy some of their breakfast cocktails!
An absolutely incredible experience. I have been here for dinner and the food was amazing. We were waiting our turn for breakfast at Otro Cafe, and saw this place does brunch. There was no wait as they just started doing this. Incredible. Food and service was top notch. Holly was our server and she great. Will definitely be coming back.
Tried this place for a fun date night, would definitely go back! Drinks are tasty and strong, food was served quick, and appetizers were delicious. For drinks we got the peach old fashioned and the southside butterfly drink, both were very good. You must get the corn bread appetizer, it was the best corn bread I've had and feeds about 2-3 ppl. We also tried the chips and guac which was pretty good too. They have big portions for the price, the service was also really good, and food came fast. Would recommend for a date night or dinner spot for friends.
I always pick one place to go for restaurant week and in the fall it's my neighbor's bday week, our 2nd annual event. We picked neighborly public house this time because we love coconut and dessert was coconut cream pie. When I go back, not if, It won't be because of that pie, we'll get to that pie, from our front porch. We had shattered clam chowder fries, which I thought sounded strange, but they were out of this world! The chowder was creamy, sweet delicious pieces of clam. You could ACTUALLY taste clams, see clams! The potatoes were shaped like elongated bowls, which held the chowder perfectly. The potatoes were fluffy, yet crisp, cooked and seasoned perfectly. We never once wanted to reach for the salt and pepper shaker!!! Believe it or not, these chowder fries are a thing and they are a great thing! Mind you, we went for Restaurant Week, these fries and the brussel sprouts I'm about to enlighten you on, were not on the Restaurant Week menu! Their menu descriptions are written creatively, and creates intrigue to the point one simply can't resist ordering, so go here with many, and sit outside ladies. I am always hot, like on fire, and their misters have a fan, that for the first time in years, kept me comfortable. I've never seen these types of misters, but know now, knew immediately, that I need many of these in my life!!! Back to the brussel sprouts, omg! Chunks of candied bacon, whole, slow roasted garlic , charred yet moist brussels, pouring out of a squared mason jar, onto a cutting board, with a tease of some mighty tasty balsamic reduction, the texture of honey, like, get here, eat these! Drinks, jeeps, how can I forget, the Southside Butterfly. I'm a connoisseur, I do appreciate ingredients, and this drink had me at butterfly pea flower, lillet, fallernum, just wow, mint, lime, egg white that reminded me of the froth on a whiskey sour, just a drink to blow your purple passions! The main dishes, organic king salmon grilled with a basil chili oil, a dateland salad with a Mediterranean flair, aka goat cheese, dates, cornbread croutons, delightful salad, as was the roasted peanut slaw, crunchy, cilantro, cabbage, green onions, etc, always hard pressed to find an edible , great slaw, this is it! Sticky babybacks with a nice kick, a rack! Needless to say the ribs came home after a few nibbles. The coconut cream pie came home, and as we waddled to the front porch, we open the box to find a cup of coconutty whipped cream, a graham crusted creamy coconut pie, slighter denser than you would dream of, and trust me, it will finish you off! Wipe the drool and just go! This place knows exactly what they're doing, refreshing! Great service, ambience, music, location.
First time here kind of hipster I liked it my fiancé and I came on a Sunday we liked it I had the hash skillet and she had the avocado toast. Food presentation and taste is excellent we will definitely be back😁
Excellent food and presentation. The staff was quite friendly and engaging. Try the short ribs, the risotto is fantastic. Seared Ahi is killer. Drinks are very good. All in all this is one of my top new restaurants.
I had the pleasure of visiting for social hour. I was a pleasant experience. I am new to Arizona. I try to find nice restaurants to visit. Neighborly did not disappoint.
We had such a wonderful experience at The Neighborly Restaurant! The food was beautifully presented and tasted absolutely amazing. They were incredibly accommodating to our dietary restrictions, which made the evening even more enjoyable. Our waitress, Michelle, was exceptional--friendly, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome. The chef even came out to chat with us and surprised us with a complimentary appetizer, which was such a thoughtful touch. The restaurant, including the bathrooms, was spotless, showing how much care they put into every detail. Highly recommend for both the food and the warm, inviting atmosphere!
1st time visit for lunch. Wonderful outdoor shaded patio. Chef Nate brought us first timers a complementary egg salad topped with bacon and crackers. Delish . Servers were kind and attentive. We had the chicken pesto sandwich with jicama peanut slaw and the sesame encrusted ahi tuna meal( noodles, tomato , avocado) . Both dishes were excellent. Wonderful atmosphere, Top notch service . The Neighborly will now be in my top ten Phoenix restaurants . Can't wait to try the rest of this interesting menu.
I hate coconut… and somehow their Coconut Cream Pie dessert turned me into a coconut lover. It was unreal. The espresso martini was perfect, the crab cakes were delicious, and Sam, our waiter, was friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. I also loved how the whole staff supported each other and shared tables. You could really feel the teamwork. We live in North Phoenix and honestly found this place by accident, but it ended up being the perfect date night
Great food and excellent service. We had several different servers come to our table helping each other. I would've given higher stars for atmosphere but the noise level made me take some stars away. We had a hard time conversing because of the noise
We went here to celebrate a graduation; Great menu, happy hour had delicious selections; Dinner menu- lots of variety; All our dishes were well done; Seemed that most of the people were frequent visitors; Many had a drink, ate then left; Our only problem was we had 12 people and restaurant couldn't accommodate a party that size at one table; We ended up in two booths; Awkward! But still great food, ambience and service; Prices were reasonable as well
The hamburger and ahi dish were fab! The service top notch. The only negative is that there is no beer on tap.
Had absolutely no plans on eating here but after a disappointing meal at another restaurant my bestie and I decided to try this place out on a whim. We didn't get food because we'd just eaten so dessert is all we had. The bartender was phenomenal and both ladies gushed over the drink menu with us and really helped guide us through what to order. We got a classic cosmo and then became adventurous with a black pepper Moscow mule. Now unless you are absolutely obsessed with black pepper you may not want to get this mule. There is no going light on the pepper you either love it or you don't. I took one sip and immediately needed water so let's just say I then asked for a regular mule and please hold the pepper. For dessert we ordered the butter cake which was really good but it did not hold a candle to the coconut cream pie I'm not even a fan of coconut and polished off that pie while only providing my bestie a whole 3 bites. The venue is super cute Outside looks great but it was raining that night I definitely want to return and eat food there. I have a feeling it's going to be really good 1/4 Update I came back for happy hour and every single bite of food was just as I imagined it would be. The mushroom tarte was absolutely blissful with the flaky pastry and goat cheese. The broiled oysters with bacon crumbles were a hit at the table. The shrimp roll was wonderful and the fries if that’s what you can call them were delicious
We have been to the Neighborly twice now and have mixed reviews. On our first visit we had the chicken pot pie and prime rib sliders. Our food and service were excellent the first time. Tonight we sat at the bar for dinner service and ordered Caesar salad, grouper fish sandwich and lobster bisque. Our cocktails were delicious and the salad has lovely cornbread croutons-such a nice touch! The fish was prepared with panko crust and tasted delightful. The lobster bisque was flavorful but unfortunately had no lobster in it at all. I think they served from the top and didn’t blend before serving. When we mentioned this to our staff it was dismissed as typical for the soup, and we were disappointed with that attitude.
Dined on the patio 9/13/25. Good vibes and service. The appetizer was the best part (CHARRED BRUSSELS SPROUTS) with bacon & garlic pieces. The salmon was average (and came with seasoned saltine crackers) & do not order the CHARRED CAULIFLOWER STEAK, it’s just a giant cauliflower with other veggies. I recommend they rename it or mark under it *vegetarian dish and remove the steak from the title, it’s misleading especially listed with the other meats. At least have the server explain that it’s not steak. That’s my bad for not clarifying before ordering but heads up. Will not be back.
YOU DO NOT NEED TWO PORTOBELLO CAPS ON ONE SANDWICH 🤢 THINK JAPANESE EGGPLANT, RED PEPPER, ZUCCHINI, EVEN YELLOW SQUASH … “STACK” SOME DAMN VEGGIES … this was so portobello heavy, I had to take one off. So many grilled veggies could be used on this sandwich & you chose 2 portobellos, arugula and tomato? HATED IT.
I thought this place was just OK. Everything from the food to the cocktails to the service. Nothing blew me out of the water. Our server was very nice but the service was slow. Our server changed in the middle of dinner because she said she had to leave but then we saw her walking around until we left. The food looked good on the menu but it was a bit underwhelming. I don’t think we would return.
Came for afternoon cocktails and light bites. Drinks and food were good, but service was awful. Waited over 10 min for a server to come take our order. Service as a whole was super slow. Bartender brought drinks out a couple times and was cold with not smile or interaction with table. Given the price for drinks and food and poor service experience probably won’t return.
We tried this restaurant 3 times in the hope that we'd been there on an off day. Sadly, we won't be going back. All three times it took the wait staff too long to acknowledge us when we were sitting at the bar. Multiple people walked past us and didn't say a word. Our impression: we aren't their responsibility so there is no reason to smile or say anything to us. We ordered several entrees and appetizers during our visits. The artichoke was over cooked and dried out. The French dip meat had a funky flavor like it was ready to expire. Other entrees had issues that left them inedible from our standpoint. Once our server engaged with us, she was very nice and even tried to fix the issues, so I give her a lot of credit for that. In the end, with so many great restaurants in the Phoenix area, this is one we'll skip.
I've been going to the Neighborly since it opened. Was so disappointed on my last visit - January 9, 2026 - to find that my 2 favorite things had been removed from the menu: shattered fries and clam chowder. I went with the chicken pot pie and was also disappointed. It was too soupy and the vegetables looked like they were from a standard package of frozen vegetables. I would have expected better.
I was there with my book club. We were not even through our first round of cocktails when we were approached by Nicole to let us know we were being too loud and needed to keep it down. All of our jaws dropped. We were so caught off guard. We were not being too loud. The restaurant was already loud and we were not being disruptive or any louder than anyone else. If a table of 6 women laughs in unison, of course that’s going to be louder than a table of two. I let Nicole know how inappropriate it was that she was telling us we needed to keep it down at a loud, bustling restaurant on a Friday night and she then proceeded to lie saying 5 tables complained because she was clearly caught off guard that we were defending ourselves. The restaurant itself probably has 20 tables inside total. I let her know we had planned to spend all night there eating, ordering cocktails, and discussing our book but our business was clearly not wanted. She offered to move us outside. I’m not sure what it was about us that made her think we should be made to sat outside and we were not civilized enough to stay seated inside where we made a reservation but I’d venture to guess that if I asked, she’d lie some more. We also had two people who ordered the prime rib and the filet but the server got their temperatures mixed up so neither could eat their food. So regardless of the insane, unwelcoming behavior, they can’t even get the food right. Cocktails were mid. Not a single one of the 6 of us will ever step foot in this establishment again. We went next door to Doughbird as soon as we could and they could not have been more friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. The complete opposite of the Neighborly. I cannot express enough how this was the absolute worst dining experience of my life. Like, I thought we were on a hidden camera show.
