The Tavern is near the spa on the opposite side of the pool from the main building. It is on the 2nd floor of the golf club. The place has a small patio and a huge dining room narrow and very long. They have many beers on tap and many food option including a limited happy hour many from 3 to 6pm. The service is very friendly, prompt and efficient and the food was tasty (the photos include 2 kids meals as well as regular dishes). They were very accommodating about allergy safe food. There are many TV screens all over playing ball games.
I had the pleasure of dining at The Phoenician Tavern on Sunday, March 16, after church services with a friend and colleague. From the moment I entered the resort, I was captivated by the beautifully maintained grounds, the scenic drive past the golf course, and the inviting atmosphere of the tavern itself. The food was outstanding—absolutely 5-star worthy! The tavern burger was hands down the best burger I’ve had in a long time. The service was just as impressive, with a special shout-out to Daniel for his exceptional hospitality. The ambiance was lively and enjoyable, especially with the indoor-outdoor bar patio offering stunning views of the golf course. While the atmosphere was great, I’m giving it 4 stars simply because I expected a bit more of a refined resort feel. That said, I was pleasantly surprised by the unique offerings, including the St. Patrick’s Day menu, craft beer sampling, dueling pianos every Saturday, and bourbon tastings (reservations required). The Phoenician Tavern is a fantastic place to unwind, whether you’re knocking back a local craft beer, enjoying pub-style fare, or just soaking in the beautiful setting. It’s a hidden gem within a luxury resort that doesn’t feel overly formal—perfect for a laid-back yet elevated experience. I’ll definitely be back! ⭐ Food: 5/5 ⭐ Service: 5/5 (Thank you, Daniel!) ⭐ Atmosphere: 4/5
We were lucky enough to be here on a Saturday night for dueling pianos. Lots of fun. The menu is ideal for a casual meal and felt like a good value. They're known for their boozie milkshakes. And I felt they had perhaps the best wine list of all the bars and restaurants on the property.
During our 5 day stay at The Phoenician Resort, we found ourselves at the Tavern 3 times. You cannot beat the daily happy hour (we loved the fresh margaritas and moscow mules) and large portions of food. We enjoyed the HUGE nachos, cowboy burger, burrata mozzarella salad, and the sliders. The service was always great with a special shout-out to Erin and Alejandro. They were so very kind and accommodating. Lily was also great! We made a reservation for dinner once and the other 2 times, we walked in without a reservation. On the last day (Sunday lunch), we did have a 30 minute wait but enjoyed sitting downstairs on the golf course while we waited. Overall, great food and great service!
Friend and I went to Phoenician Tavern during AZ restaurant week and loved it! Tried gin drinks and had wine with dinner! Fig salad was amazing! Excellent service, delicious food and beautiful weather! Highly recommend Phoenician Tavern
I came here 3 times in 2 days - that’s how good it was. I never thought I’d see the day a burger would come so close to my favorite burger. Has an open patio, and the service is some of the most attentive and professional I’ve ever seen.
We came to the tavern every day of our stay at The Phoenician. While we received excellent service every day, Brittany G. was exceptional. She was communicative, kind, and attentive. We highly recommend the nachos, too! Great queso.
This resort is incredible. I went here on a work conference and it was surprisingly even better than expected. Beautiful grounds with top notch service and restaurants. Five star resort...five star review.
Excellent drinks, great Happy Hour offerings, first-rate food. Experience the 1%-er lifestyle!!!!
Flavorful menu with several culinary specific options on regular ol’ pub grub. Views are amazing from the balcony, service was great.
Our second time here and this place did not disappoint. Fish and chips were delicious and the Gnocchi was AMAZING!
Service was great, wings and brussel sprouts were delicious!
My 1st time there and it was marvelous. The staff was nice and the food was great. Thanks for the luxury.
Chara was absolutely amazing and so accommodating. Our food was delicious and the drinks were perfect. Sat on the patio— Chara made sure we were warm and comfortable. Will be back!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Tavern at the Phoenician, and it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm, inviting ambiance that perfectly set the stage for an unforgettable evening. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Every dish we sampled was bursting with flavor, showcasing the chef's impeccable talent and attention to detail. The menu offers an impressive variety of options, catering to all tastes and preferences. Whether you're a fan of hearty classics or seeking something more refined and innovative, The Tavern delivers on all fronts. The flavors were perfectly balanced, and each bite was a delightful journey for the palate. Equally impressive was the drink menu, which featured a fantastic array of expertly crafted cocktails, fine wines, and premium spirits. The bartenders are true artisans, creating drinks that are as visually stunning as they are delicious. The signature cocktails are a must-try and provide a perfect complement to the exquisite cuisine. The service was top-notch, with attentive and knowledgeable staff who went above and beyond to ensure our dining experience was perfect. Their recommendations were spot-on, and their passion for the food and drink was evident in every interaction. In summary, The Tavern at the Phoenician is a culinary gem. With its delectable dishes, outstanding drink selection, and impeccable service, it stands out as a premier dining destination. I can't wait for my next visit!
Special shout out to Jared, his skill in caring for his clients, matching, tone and body language, while still being true to himself was impressive. I think Jared who is a gentleman of depth who cares about people. If he were a doctor you'd say he has great bedside manners. Thanks Jared for making being the exceptional part of our exceptionally average Thursday day night dinner at the tavern.
Food is great! My bone in ribeye was overcooked but they were so busy the server didn't come through until it was too late as everyone else was close to done. Otherwise perfect experience!
We stayed at the resort and loved eating here. Not only was the food fantastic but the staff was as well. The kids' menu had enough options for our little guys as well. Plus, if you like an old fashioned theirs is awfully good. You guys were a great part of our stay at the resort. Thank you for having us!
Amazing and engaging entertainment. Great family friendly environment and menu accommodations.
The Nashville hot chicken app and spinach artichoke dip was delicious! Great wine selection too. They have a happy hour that ends at 5. Easy to make reservations on open table too!
I attended a food event by Jet-Fresh and it was very well presented. I did go to the bar a couple of times and enjoyed my time there as well. Sara, the bartender was just great. I had the best time conversing with her while savoring my beers. I invited her to visit our Wild Elk Den Restaurant Lounge in Chandler. I'd like to return the great service.
I travel ALL the time,...and I NEVER write food reviews,...but my dinner at the Phoenician Tavern last week was so delicious and unusually special - I have to say something. Calamari is my "go to" appetizer...and the Tavern's calamari was fantastic. The deep fried coating was light as a feather,...and the taste was like anything I can ever recall. The fries was very good too,...but took a back seat to the calamari. My main course was supposed to be a simple patty melt,...but the Tavern's patty melt was unparalleled. I don't even know how to precisely describe the taste,...but I cannot recall such a unique experience in a very long time (and I'm 65). My son just moved to Phoenix,...and I plan on visiting him a LOT,...thanks to the food at the Phoenician Tavern. WELL DONE !!
Wonderful food. Friendly service. Golf cart from resort. Pricey but expected. Close early. Not lively off hours or weekends.
The food and drinks were great. The most outstanding part of our visit was the Manager, Rosa Cano. After we were seated and been there just a couple of minutes, Rosa came up to the table, brought water, and took a drink order. About 5 minutes later she looked over and saw we didn’t have our drinks, she went to the bar and saw them and brought them to us. I noticed her during our time at the Tavern and she was greeting customers, getting drinks, clearing tables, wiping off tables doing whatever needed to be done. Most of all making sure her customers were happy. I would highly recommend the Tavern based on Rosa’s leadership and outstanding service.
I just traveled from Illinois and was referred to come to the tavern for a light meal and beverage. Jared was my server and he was very good and attentive. I had the wings and a blooming pretzel. He also suggested a local light beer which was very refreshing. Everything was prepared well and had great flavor. The wings were nice and crispy and tasty. I have never had a blooming pretzel. It was served in a cast-iron skillet and you essentially pulled it apart and dipped it in warm cheese. It was unique and very good! It could definitely be shared. I could not eat it all. I would highly recommend this place for socializing and all the food on the menu looked very good.
Excellent experience at the Tavern. Spent a couple of nice hours having a couple drinks and a slow dinner over looking the golf course. The service was excellent and super friendly and the food was tasty!
Have been quite a few times. The food is exceptional for what it is and we have always had great service. Morgan was particularly welcoming, helpful, and always greets me by name. It’s a nice touch. The location is beautiful. Definitely worth checking out!
Great spot to have eat if you are looking for something less stuffy. We had a couple of lunches here.
Went for dinner and piano bar. Ordered lots of food to share and everything was yummy! Vibe was ok before pianist started then it was a PARTY! Had a great time! Will return for sure!
I got the chicken club sandwich and it was mediocre—not bad, not great. Everything else was fantastic—drinks, views, and service was phenomenal. Brittany was a great server and super friendly. Overlooking the famous golf course was awesome. Would come back but would try different food. It’s pricey, but so is everything at a resort.
The service is a bit slow, but the food was good. Pork Chop not too dry. Burger was juicy. The tater tots were too dry though
This restaurant is absolutely beautiful and classy. We basically just ordered a bunch of appetizers and shared them. The artichoke dip, pull-apart pretzels, duck fat Parmesan fries, and pork belly fried rice were all immaculate. The wings however left much to be desired. The tavern style is flavorless, and the buffalo was extremely acidic and burned my eyes even just getting close to them. Our server was nice, but not very attentive. Took a while to notice my empty drink and get me a refill. Bathrooms were very nice and clean as well. Overall a 4star visit.
My husband and I just arrived in AZ and googled a place to eat close to the airport. The Phoenecian caught our eye and it did not dissapoint. I was hoping to eat something delicious and nutritious and the Fig and Arugula salad recommended by our server was AMAZING! I got salmon on the side and ate every bite. Unfortunately I thought to take a photo when I only had one bite left. My husband got the French Dip sandwich with tater tots. He said it was the best French dip he ever had. We highly recommend!
Unfortunately due to Covid, the Tavern was the only restaurant open on property. Limited menu and being the only restaurant on property it didn't offer the variety I'd hope. Wagyu Pastrami Sandwich was great, though.
Nice dining experience. A little spendy for bar/lunch menu type food that you get. Waitress was good and food came out quick.
Food and view were amazing, the service, however, left us feeling forgotten and ignored. We were a table of three and apparently there was only one server who was handling a large wedding party on the other side of the restaurant. She took our order and we never saw her again until she brought the check and it was only then I could let her know they forgot 2 items that we had ordered to be served with our lunch. She never came back to check on us or to make sure everything was set for us to eat once somebody from the kitchen brought our food out. I had to get up myself and go ask the bartender for water refills as well. Very disappointed in our server
The Phoenician Tavern has delicious food. The waitress was very friendly and the environment was okay we did have to have a short golf cart ride to get over to this restaurant. It was also a little spendy for bar food.
The food was all decent, nothing was bad. Overall I would just say average food for an above average price. The fried pickles weren’t very spicy and lacked much flavor. The Caesar salad just tasted like one you would get at a chain restaurant, the fries were pretty good. The Blood Orange smoke was fine, it wasn’t spicy at all, and I didn’t even realize that it was supposed to have mint until I looked at the menu again after drinking it. Nice environment, but I don’t know that I would eat here again for the price.
Really amazing service by our server Jeff. The food took an eternity. Jeff told us it was because a lot of tables came in all at once. This would seem pretty standard since everything there is a reservation. The wedge salad was the best thing we ate. I didn’t like the Sea Bass and the steak was just ok. Restaurant was freezing, was very hard to be comfortable.
I made reservations for my son and I to have brunch on Christmas Day. The gentleman Mason who sat us in the outdoor patio was pleasant. Our server Chara C was fantastic. The atmosphere was perfect! Was a beautiful day and had a spectacular view. I ordered the fork and knife Taver burger and my son had the Patty melt. I ordered a Lavendar Fairway and my son ordered a Chivas Regal 12 yr old Scotch. He noticed that there was some sort of 6 leg insect in his drink. The bartender was nice enough to not charge him and I did let one of the managers on duty know. He apologized but the most disturbing thing is the bartender continued to use the Chivas Scotch and pur for other customers. This does not sit well especially after we brought it to their attention. We will return and it another try for dinner. Please just be careful what you order.
Tonight I came for 25$ meal deal until September 2nd. I order two cowboy burgers and two margaritas. The deal through September 2nd includes one drink. One burger and one side for 25$ each. When I revveived my check my total was $70.92. I asked the server why it was so much more and she said it can't be combined with happy hour. And I said I didn't order off of happy hour I ordered off of the 25$ meal. She refused to change the total and still charged me $70.92. Although the burger was excellent this is poor service and false advertising. The servers name was Arba. I overheard heard talking to another person and it sounds like she is one of the main servers at the bar. This is not okay!!
Food and drinks were good, but staff was extremely unwelcoming. Poor bar setup. Not enough space behind bar, so staff is constantly having to ask bar patrons to move, which they do with quite an attitude. First bartender at the end of their shift was not pleasant, though her replacement was friendly. Would go elsewhere next time.
I was expecting quite a bit more from the food. Service was good, ambiance was fine, a bit loud but it is more or less a sports bar so can't complain about that. Started with appetizers. Those were fine, the fried spicey pickles were excellent. Cooked perfectly. For the entre I ordered a French Dip with sweet potato fries. I love French Dips, have had them at many many places. This was in the running for the worst one I have ever had. The horseradish sauce was so overwhelming with added "smoke" that it was all you could taste. The meat had no taste and was at times rubbery, stringy, fatty and tough. The au ju was tasteless. I left half the sandwich untouched for fear I'd return it all to the table. On to the sweet potato fries... They came waffle cut. Several in our party had them as the side. Everyone's fries were terribly overcooked. The outer third were near black and dry. The inner part was marginally edible but almost all the taste was cooked out. None of this should have escaped the kitchen. I can't comment in any detail about what I didn't eat but the others had crab roll and mostly burgers. No one commented on anything except the appetizers which got favorable comments.
Dueling pianos night. Supposed to be 70s and 80s show. But it became a preteen show. I understand that they can't control the audience, but when kids are running around and becoming the focus of the night it's no longer an adult show
The food is overpriced and terrible. THE WAIT STAFF WAS EXCELLENT. I've tried several dishes. All disappointing. $30 for 8 frozen ravioli, which includes old, flat, black tomatos! It tasted like metal. No spice, no flavor. If you order the chocolate cake dessert, expect something that was on display for months. Hard, dry, and tastes like LAST year's Halloween candy. CLEARLY there is NO chef here. It is little more than a poorly run, school cafeteria. I've enjoyed better food in prison. Don't be fooled. Even though it's at the end of golf course, AND at the Phoenician, it doesn't mean the food is worth your money.
Terrible jalapeño Caesar salad, couldn’t eat it, it was so salty and everything is over salted … Server was so sweet
This was our first time and the view is beautiful and the drinks were good but the service was painfully slow and the food was meh. The fried pickles were good but the Nashville hot chicken was so dry we sent it back. Based on the experience, we left after appetizers and went someone else for the entrees.
Started off great, then went completely downhill. We had a 7:30 reservation, we were seated almost immediately and the hostess was great. We liked the atmosphere and the menu looked really good. Our server was excellent, at first. I don't know what happened, but at some point our server kind of disappeared and about 45 minutes after ordering we flagged him down and asked about our food. He said it was being plated. 15 minutes later, still no food. By about 9pm and still no food, we got up to leave and as we were walking out, we saw our food heading to our table. At that point, we were done. They boxed things up and comped our meal, but we won't be back. The food was cold as though it had been sitting awhile. Kind of a bummer because everything started off great and the dueling pianos were fun. The manager had no idea what happened. We have never had this much of a rollercoaster experience at a restaurant. We loved the Phoenician, but this place was a mess.
We have dined at the Phoenician before and it was absolutely phenomenal but it was our first Christmas Buffet at the Phoenician Tavern! I thought this would be high end, and a Christmas night dinner to remember/ possibly make a tradition. BUT to charge $85 plus the service fee and the 20% tip (because what kind of scrooge wouldn’t tip on Christmas Day) this is NOT worth it.. $300 later and I’ve never been more disappointed in a restaurant that claims to be resort style.. I have also NEVER written a review, specially a negative one like this but hopefully it saves someone else a horrible Christmas night..The $22 drink I had tasted like pure cough syrup, my husband agreed, and it was supposed to be a fruity pineapple raspberry martini (Sonoran Martini). We got our first plate and one of the waiters or hosts followed me back to the table to asked if my husband enjoyed the football then asked if he ignored me a lot during it.. which to me was incredibly rude/crossing a boundary. We had our first round and it took until was almost done with our second plates for anyone to grab the first two empty plates on our table.. yet three wait staff said goodbye to us when we left so I know they we not understaffed at all.. then the kicker was two of the desserts ran out, our reservations were at 7:15 and we left by 8:40. How do you run out of the two out of the four desserts you’re serving and still charging folks full price? Plus it’s not like we showed up astronomically late, we were on time and it’s insane that they ran out early.. why offer a buffet when you can’t actually keep up with the intake of your guests? All together I would never recommend this to anyone, unless you want to throw away your money to the name of the Phoenician. Bad service, over priced and disappointing menu experiences.
This place was so comically awful that I actually left wondering if we had wandered into a very expensive social experiment. We paid almost six hundred dollars CAD for three people which is about four hundred fifty USD for a Thanksgiving buffet and a single cocktail each. At that price I expected angels to descend with gravy boats. Instead they ran out of turkey. On Thanksgiving. They also ran out of pumpkin pie which at that point felt like performance art. The buffet offerings that remained looked like they were surviving a natural disaster. A few sad vegetables, a lonely scoop of something beige, and the energy of a dining room that had already given up. For six hundred dollars I wanted a feast. What I got was the emotional equivalent of being abandoned at a bus stop in the rain. Truly, we would have been better off at an IHOP where at least the pancakes are consistent and nobody pretends it is fine dining. This was the culinary version of being catfished. I left hungry, confused, financially wounded, and laughing because otherwise I might have cried. Zero stars for food. Five stars for unintentional comedy. I would not return unless it becomes a museum exhibit about hubris.
