Opinions de Conti Roero Piazza San Ponzio
Located in a quiet Roero village, 10 minutes from Alba. Beautiful views. Welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. Spacious room and comfortable, new bathroom. Unfortunately, there's no TV, which is greatly missed in a village with little to offer.
I'd never heard of it, and it surprises me. I have to give credit to TheFork for including a 20% discount on food in their offer. If I'd known about this restaurant/guesthouse, I would have gone sooner, even without the discount. What a lovely surprise! The impeccable service in every way and the very romantic (outdoor) setting, just below the Roero Castle of Monticello. Let me tell you what I ate that evening: • Nettle fettuccine, ricotta cream, and shrimp tails* simmered with Distilleria Sibona grappa • Salmon trout fillet, yogurt sauce, agretti, and Taggiasca olives • Raspberry gastronomy, peppermint coulis (to share) • Glass of Arneis, water, and coffee Everything was really good; neither my girlfriend nor I had any complaints. I've already recommended the place to my parents for their next occasion :)
I thoroughly enjoyed the menu proposed for this special event. Everything fantastic, from the appetizers, first courses and the second course and then ending with a very good dark chocolate semifreddo. Excellent wines! Extraordinary service!
A pleasant return to this elegant yet informal restaurant, nestled in a beautiful village with a stunning view. The restaurant's strong points are its courteous service and varied selection of well-crafted local dishes, along with an extensive wine list. After a previous experience featuring porcini mushrooms, this time I was delighted to sample some local classics. The welcome appetizer offered by the chef on both occasions was very welcome. The prices were reasonable, especially considering the portions, which I would describe as generous. Very satisfied, and highly recommend.
Friendly and warm welcome. Quiet location with a beautiful view of the surrounding greenery. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and very clean, directly overlooking the ivy- and flower-filled outdoor terrace. The entire property exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere, as does the restaurant, where we enjoyed an excellent dinner. Breakfast offers a good selection of sweet and savory options. The following morning, we were able to visit the castle, owned by the same owners as the B&B. The modest price of the ticket was definitely worth the fun, self-guided tour of the building and grounds, lasting about an hour. I highly recommend it for a culinary excursion or a romantic getaway, but don't underestimate the charm of the castle tour.
Great Place, Living room Flair - and a Perfect place fit Aperitivo
Ok
Very elegant restaurant, with outstanding service. The food was excellent, from the antipasti to the dolce. After such a satisfying experience, I would highly recommend this place.
Very nice restaurant with tipical piedmont food and very good wine. The staff is really polite and good price/product quality. Pet friendly. Highly recommended
Location incredible
Stayed here in 2007. Attended Slow Food festival in Bra. Wonderful location. Terrific restaurant. Friendly staff. Loved it!
We booked on The Fork, which continues to be a truly excellent tool as it allows you to see availability with just one click and book without having to make a phone call. We were greeted politely and professionally. The service was fast and impeccable. We were greeted with a complimentary entrée, which was much appreciated. The breadsticks, bread, and focaccia were truly excellent and noteworthy, fragrant and tasty. There were two of us, and we had duck petals and the traditional antipasto for appetizers, both of which were delicious. The first courses, fondue ravioli and tajarin with wild boar ragù, were very good, especially the tajarin! For the second course, we tried the cheek with potatoes, which was incredibly tender. In addition to the food, the wide selection of wines is noteworthy; we tried a red, which was excellent. It's a shame the dessert had a slightly acidic taste—damn! The view, stretching across the surrounding landscape, is truly beautiful, and the village is charming. I'd also like to highlight the professionalism and kindness of the waiter (I think he's the owner), who clearly showed his passion and care for the place. We'll be back!
We booked last-minute on The Fork, which continues to be a great tool as it allows you to see availability with just one click and book without having to make a phone call. We were seated in a very secluded room, which had a somewhat chilly atmosphere, but that was probably due to the last-minute reservation, as we saw the room upstairs, which was very nice and warm! The service was fast and professional. The breadsticks were noteworthy, fragrant and tasty, but the focaccia bread, on the other hand, was a bit hard... greeted with a piece of vegetable omelette. There were two of us and we ordered the tongue in red sauce, which was really good, and the boiled meat. We weren't crazy about the latter; the meat was a bit tough, mine was particularly fatty, so we ate very little. We didn't order dessert, so I can't comment on that. Coffee, as in many restaurants, is to be avoided, perhaps also because it was the first course of the day.
Nice and elegant. Would recommend for a romantic dinner
We stayed one night over the weekend. The location is truly beautiful, on a hill, in a truly quaint little village. My reservation, which I had made on the website, wasn't available. Even though I had called the day before to confirm, the whole thing was treated a bit too condescendingly. Because it was surrounded by greenery, it was unfortunately easy to find small animals in the room. The restaurant is also very nice, though it's a shame the agnolotti del plin in fazzoletto were too dry.
We stayed one night and participated in the restaurant's Murder Mystery Dinner. The location is very nice and just steps from the castle. The rooms are average but could use more attention. The attic one was a bit too dark and claustrophobic. We requested an extra fan, but some additional lighting would have been nice. The breakfast was quite varied and good quality, with gluten-free options available. As for the Murder Mystery Dinner, the appetizer and first course were good, but the second course and dessert weren't that great. I understand it was a set menu, but a little more attention to detail would have been needed. The staff was generally friendly, but not particularly knowledgeable.
The guesthouse is truly beautiful, with large and comfortable rooms. Top-notch service. I give the hospitality service 5 stars. The 2 stars are for the restaurant. Nothing to complain about the service, which is attentive and helpful in recommending wines and dishes. My poor review is about the dishes, not because of their poor quality, but because of the price-quality ratio, which is truly poor here. We've been spending two weekends a year in the Langhe for many years, and I can say I've tried a good number of restaurants in the area. I'm writing for myself, but my opinion is shared by everyone in the group. A Fassona steak tartare at €18 was a tiny sum, as was a plate of tajarin that I finished in four forkfuls. It's not a Michelin-starred restaurant, so either bring the prices up to the local average or increase the portions, which are small. And last but not least, a coffee for €3. If you have some spare cash, you can eat well here, but as good as anywhere else in the area, so nothing exceptional that sets it apart from other restaurants in Roero.
I was satisfied with the quality/price ratio. The location is very beautiful and the staff were very helpful. Typical Piedmontese dishes; I really enjoyed the fried mushrooms, but the tajerin a little less. When paying, the gentleman at the cash register (the owner?) was rude to the waitress. I understand the stress of Sunday service, but certain scenes are best avoided in front of customers!
OK but not too make a detour for.
