Opinions de The Sandwich Club Piazza Vittorio Emanuele Terzo
We loved the location, food and service. Quite different than most of the “mainstream” restaurants on the boulevard. The shared platter to start is absolutely amazing as well as the main courses. When we asked for a bottle of wine we could choose between a variety of bottles that were standing inside and got great advice. Really enjoyed it!

Great sandwiches, high quality ingredients, real italian gourmet. Very friendly owners. Very trendy location.
The Branzinni was the best I’ve ever had with the braised vegetables. My husband had carbonara. He did not care for it at all. It had fennel in it, which he has never had as an ingredient. The staff was not friendly at all. I don’t know if that’s the overall staff or just that night. I think there are so many other restaurants to choose from. We would probably try somewhere else next time.
Good restaurant well located in the small town of Cannobio, just 15 min drive from Ascona, Switzerland. There was a bit of a language barrier, which we worked around. However, the general mood of the staff was indifference. Everyone looked and acted as though none of them really wanted to be there. Service was quick and efficient. The portions were just perfect and everything tasted great. Prices were fair. Bathrooms were very unclean.
Very nice location directly at the harbour and sea promenade. Good food for fair prices. Nearly all staff very kind and nice. Just the seating policy is strange, too strictly connected to eaters per seat per table. A young family with 2 kids was not allowed to sit at a table of 3 as only 2 would order food. Hmm.
did not like my food. the menu did not say that it has cheese and it was way too oily, ruined the taste for me. would not come again
Good lunch, very good desserts. Staff very nice but not one "boss". Not recommended if you have children. You have to pay the service even if you don't order for them. The best places in front of the lake are not accessible if you have children. ... Kids don't seem to provide a good payback.
…apparently 30 min wait is normal (in actuality it was 50 minutes). We visited the restaurant for a Sunday lunch as a group of 6. Approximately half of the outside spots were filled, so not to busy. It took us 15 mins to get the attention of the waitress. Once we ordered, we waited eagerly for our food - and this was quite a while. Other guests that came 15-20 mins after us received the food, we did not. When we asked, we were told 2 more minutes (which turned out to be 20 mins). The waiter (he seemed to be responsible for the shift) out of the blue shouted that 30 mins wait for the food is totally normal - probably our faces said we were unhappy. While 4 out of the 6 received the food after a 50 min wait, the remaining 2 waited for an additional 10 mins. No apology, no discount, no nothing. The head waiter and the waitress actively ignored us for the remaining time, sending out the guys who did the dishes to serve, collect the plates and for the pay. Absolute childish and rude service. Besides the sour carbonara, the food was quite pleasant. Nevertheless, there are plenty of better restaurants in close proximity
Extremely poor quality food. They try to hide the lack of quality by somewhat ‘fancy/chique’ plating. Burgers were lukewarm at best, on soggy buns with barely-baked fries covered in grease. The ‘veal escalope’ was just a very poorly done, half-baked schnitzel on some cold, grease potato roasts. Some staff seemed to actually try to be nice, while others were blunt and uninterested. Everything seemed rushed and just trying to get as many people in-and-out for maximum revenue. Yes, it’s a major tourism attraction so I did not expect much, but I think there are far better options along the boulevard. Honestly can’t understand how this place has any positive reviews. 1/5 would not recommend.
Walking died service, you can’t enjoy overpriced low quality food here. I come to Canobio every year and test this restaurant ever year if it improved or no. Please avoid! Any other places are much better.
I recently dined at Laura&Paul, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. Here's a detailed review of my visit: #### Food Quality - **Bruschette:** The bruschette were quite disappointing. They were soggy with oil, and the tomatoes used were not fresh, significantly detracting from the taste and quality of the dish. - **Pizza:** The pizza was mediocre at best. It lacked the crispness and flavor that one expects from a good pizza. #### Drinks - **Aperol Spritz:** The Aperol Spritz tasted like water. It lacked the characteristic flavor and punch, making it a poor choice for a refreshing drink. #### Atmosphere The atmosphere at Laura&Paul was notably stressed. It felt chaotic and rushed, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. #### Service The staff were somewhat unfriendly, which further contributed to the negative experience. Friendly and attentive service can often make up for average food, but unfortunately, this was not the case here. #### Pricing The overall experience was quite pricey, especially considering the mediocre food and drinks, as well as the unfriendly service. Additionally, there was a €3 per person table fee, which felt excessive given the overall quality of the experience. In conclusion, my visit to Laura&Paul was disappointing. The food was average, the drinks were poor, the atmosphere was tense, and the service was unfriendly. There are better dining options in the area that provide a more enjoyable experience.
The manager of the Restaurant "Paul" is very unfriendly. To be honest he should put a sign infront saying "families not welcome". We can definitely not recommend this place. Usually we experienced Italy as very family-friendly country, but this restaurant is the contrary. At first they did not let us sit at the waterfront even if there were free places (and no reservation possible). The manager insisted that we sit at the very end near the entrance, where the music was very loud. This was of course not a nice environment and animated our children to dance a bit at the table. We took pens, paper and a book to keep our little ones busy during the waiting time. During the whole time the manager observed us and everytime a pen dropped, he looked angry at us. We felt very uncomfortable and just wanted to eat quickly and leave this place as soon as possible. The two female waitress though were friendly. Although we had to pay the "coperto", we there was only a paper napkin and we did nlt receive bread (others did). After the payment, we of course did not want to give any tips because we could not enjoy our meal, felt very uncomfortable and were not satisfied with his service at all. In the end the manager did not even return the change because he said this is for packing the left over pizza (although wrapped in alu very cheaply, not ecen in a bag/box). When we insisted to receive the return, he - on top - insulted us saying that it was a chaos for one hour with us with the kids. Yes it is true that from time to time the kids dropped a pen, but we always reacted quickly, were not in the way and did not disturb any other guests because we were seated at the end in a corner that was empty. In total, a very negative experience. We never wrote a restaurant comment before, but this restaurant can definitely not be recommended!
The food is quite good, they try to be different amd creative. But the portions are to small. The services is realy bad. Waiters don‘t care about the costumer, it‘s all about generating revenue. They try to get you as fast as possible out of the restaurant. For the whole Meal, the waiters didn‘t smile once, where arrogant when asking something and where very unfriendly. In combination with prices that are for this kind of kitchen too high, I would absolutely not recommend to eat there.
