The food was amazing! We got arancini, burrata salad, spaghetti & meatballs and a spicy seafood pasta. Taste and presentation was 10/10. The venue is beautiful. They really maintained and respected the time period the home came from. Service was attentive and friendly. No notes!

So Good! Rocco's Ristorante is awesome. It feels like a cozy, old school Italian place the minute you walk in. We started with the Greens and Beans appetizer, and wow, it was delicious! Super comforting and savory. Then came the meatball. It was huge, super tender, and had amazing red sauce. Just like homemade. For my main, I had the strip steak with polenta. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the polenta was incredibly creamy and smooth. It was the best part! The service was friendly. If you want great Italian food that tastes homemade, go to Rocco's. I'm definitely going back! Note- valet parking available

Everything was perfect!!! We were greeted, served, and checked on with such grace during the whole experience. Our food came out in a fast-normal amount of time and everything was wonderful! Highly recommend

What a great place. My wife and I started off with a cocktail in the bar area. We then moved to our indoor dining table. They do have outside seating that is really nice as well. Our food was excellent. The owners are there greeting their guests. They are super nice! After our meal we walked over to their cigar bar. Alex and Giovanni over there at the cigar bar were really nice. They actually have hotel rooms to rent so if you're in the area looking for a place to stay you can stay there for a night or for the weekend and have a great time. I believe it's like a 7-minute walk to Heinz Field or whatever they call it nowadays. I highly recommend giving it a try. We will definitely be back.

Visited Rocco’s their first week open and have already been back for more. I’m convinced there isn’t a single menu item that isn’t cooked to perfection. The first time I went, I had the swordfish which is super tricky to get right and they NAILED it. My family ordered the Rocco’s pasta, gnocchi and the penne pesto and can confirm it all was phenomenal. The second time I went, I got the beans and greens, chicken al limone and truffle potato puree…and they were to die for. Rocco’s is hands down the best Italian restaurant in the city. Atmosphere, service, everything was 10/10. Already have a reservation for my third time back.

The place is awesome!! Such a cool vibe. Loved the greens and beans, meatball, arancini and gnocchi were so good . Atmosphere and cigar bar is amazing. Owners and staff are so friendly!! Can't wait to go back !!

A True Taste of Italy! Having traveled through Italy and experienced authentic Italian cuisine firsthand, I can confidently say that Rocco Ristorante delivers the real deal. From the first bite to the last sip, every dish felt like a journey back to the trattorias of Rome, the coastal kitchens of Amalfi, and Capri. The pasta was perfectly al dente, the sauces rich and balanced, and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh—clearly chosen with care and respect for tradition. The ambiance and hospitality only added to the feeling that I was back in Italy. If you're looking for genuine Italian food that respects the culture and flavor of the country, Rocco Ristorante is a must. I’ll absolutely be coming back—and bringing friends!

One word… LAILA. Best server I ever had. She made us feel like we were home and if all the staff are like her, this restaurant will be the best in the city this Fall. Phenomenal service.

This place is so unique. Beautiful decor, atmosphere was like a family gathering. Loved it. We had beans and greens, Spicey but oooh so good The giant meatball was eye opener and another excellent dish. Drinks were perfect. Thank you Jessica for a fun evening.

I went to Rocco's recently and had a great experience! Our server Ellie suggested a wine pairing for our food that was perfect! It was my first time here so I appreciated her suggestions. We ended up going with the gnocchi and Caesar salad with grilled chicken. I look forward to coming back and trying more food!

What a fabulous night. Food was amazing and Lucy couldn’t have been more accommodating. In fact everyone couldn’t have germ nicer. Beans and greens were great. We will be back!

This place is new and needs to be heard!! I came here with my Grandma for dinner one night and we were both blown away! This place has arguably the best ambience in Pittsburgh, they used their space of an old mansion and ran with it! The service was amazing and it was clear they were passionate about the food! I forget our waitresses name, but she was so kind and helpful! The food they served was incredible! Get the burrata and pane e olio as appetizers to share!! I must say me and my grandma agree this place looks like an upcoming Pittsburgh classic. We are planning on coming again. Highly recommend.

1000/10 recommend!! We felt like family from the second we walked in. The food was absolutely amazing (highly recommend the meatball appetizer) and they even have gluten free pasta that was perfect! My boyfriend is a little picky and said it was the best shrimp he’s ever had! Even the vibes/atmosphere were great☺️

What an honor and a privelage to be the first table on their opening night. We were treated like family the second we walked in. The space is a beautifully restored 1800s Victorian home. My wife and i started with a Caesar salad and selected a 2016 Montepulciano Abruzzo. I cant forget to mention our server, Ginger, who took care of our every need. Every piece of romaine in the salad was coated with tangy dressing, the croutons added a nice peppery kick and the anchovy conplimented perfecfly. I judge every italian restaurant on their veal parmigiana and theirs was executed perfectly. It was not chewey and the cheese and breading stayed in tact bite after bite. I got penne on the side and it melted in my mouth. My wife had the gnocchi with vodka sauce and added shrimp. The shrimp was cooked and seasoned perfectly and the vodka sauce was excellent. We shared a tiramusi for desert and we both agreed we never had anything like it. During our meal we had the pleasure of meeting Eddie and his sister Jess, the owners. We had great .conversation and made us feel like family, so much so we booked a table for next week. We have found our new "home" restaurant. Also, the cigar bar, lounge, and boutique hotel all on the property are not to be missed. We look forward to a staycation in one of the italian themed rooms 😀

Everything is done so professionally. The food, atmosphere, and lounge are exactly what you hope for. Every dish feels like it was created just for you. The preservation of Italian family tradition is felt in each bite and sip. It's worth the experience.

We celebrated a birthday at this new Italian restaurant in Manchester (North Side), and it was an incredible experience! The atmosphere was outstanding—warm, welcoming, and the perfect setting for a special night. Both owners were onsite and took the time to stop by our table, sharing the background of the restaurant, which made the evening feel even more personal. The food was everything you’d hope for in classic Italian—old-fashioned, authentic, and absolutely delicious. After dinner, we checked out the cigar bar, which was such a fun addition. Great drinks, relaxing vibe, and the perfect way to wrap up the night. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in Pittsburgh!

Just experienced Rocco's for dinner on Saturday evening. Absolutely loved the food, atmosphere, and service. It was wonderful that three different people came to our table to see how we were enjoying ourselves. Really made us feel comfortable. Would highly recommend!

Four of us went for dinner on a Thursday. Everyone from the bartenders (Ginger and Shirah?) to the owners, to the servers, and finally the cigar bar staff were very kind in our interactions. The cigar bar was such a nice touch. Food was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect as well. We will definitely be going back.

Finally had a chance to get to Rocco’s. Everything was great, but the food is why you need to get here. This place goes right to the top for italian food in PGH. The quality of what they served us was very high. Best beans and greens I have ever had. I don’t know a better place. Service was also great. Very friendly. Stop reading, go to Rocco’s.

Once again a phenomenal dining experience! Our party of 9 were so happy with the excellent service from Jamie for our drinks and dinner. Jessica stopped by and made sure everyone was being taken care of - YES, absolutely perfectly!!! The attention to detail and dining experience for all of us was top notch and beyond. We absolutely LOVE this place, the owners, Jessica and Edward, and their staff Jamie, Brady and all who made our dining experience such a wonderful experience! We will definitely be back....love you all!!! OH....and the food was exquisite......as always!!

Went to Rocco’s Ristorante for Valentine’s Day not knowing what to expect…and we were blown away. As foodies who cook often and frequent Italian restaurants, we’re hard to impress, but everything was exceptional. The atmosphere, service, food, and drinks were top-notch. My filet mignon was the best steak I’ve ever had, perfectly tender and melted in my mouth. My fiancé loved the Rocco pasta with homemade meatballs, and the tiramisu was rich and creamy. We will definitely be back.

One of the best meals i've had in pittsburgh. Started with the gigantic meatball which was delicious and the ricotta was light and fresh. My wife got the filet and enjoyed it and thought the chimichurri it comes with was a nice take on the sauce and brought a light, fresh flavor. I got the chicken scarpariello and it was out of this world. Thin, crispy, tender cutlet with a delicious pan sauce and topped with sausage and some potatoes. Incredible! Great service and the atmosphere is very nice.

*Seriously, if you want a superior dining experience, go have a meal at Rocco’s Ristorante. *From the minute we arrived, our hostess was a beautiful young lady, smile on her face, well spoken, accommodating and with a kind, warm and welcoming demeanor. *Our server, Ellie, was OUTSTANDING! Her recommendations were ideal, her eye contact, repeated presence at the table, and her extremely positive attitude and smile, made for an extremely pleasurable dinner experience. *The manager, Brady, asked us about specifics in regard to dinner, our server, the atmosphere, and he was genuine and real, and NOT just asking as part of a script or because he had to. *And the owners themselves, Eddie and Jessica, were cruising the floor and speaking on a very personal level with their customers in a dining room filled with laughter, lively conversation and the aromas of beautifully prepared meals with superb taste and presentation. *We will go back to Rocco’s after this initial visit, as we kinda fell in love with this business. *This staff was so dang good, they could be used as a prototype for how to run a restaurant properly, with love, and in a way that makes paying customers feel important and appreciated. *The old school architecture of this building, likely from the late 1800s, and their decor, were an ideal compliment to the atmosphere that had me feel like it was Christmas 🎅 🎄 somehow, because this whole business is a gift 🎁 to Pittsburgh! *Go! Friends of ours were in the North Side for something else and came across this gem of a place. They stopped in and talked to the owner who took them on a tour. Our friends liked the building so much, they invited us all for dinner there last night. We were early for our dinner, so we got a couple of drinks during happy hour. There were a couple of bars, the one in the front and a cigar bar in the back. We decided to hang out in the cigar bar for a bit. The drinks were very good. I had a chocolate martini and some in our party got Manhattans. The Manhattan folks said they were excellent! My martini was quite tasty as well. The food was very good. Our table ordered different apps. The beans and greens were very good. We also had the mussels, which were tasty, as well as arrancini. All were good! For dinner I had the swordfish dinner. Excellent. Others in the party had chicken parm, chicken Milanese, bone-in Tuscan porkchop, and gnocchi. Everything was good. We also had desserts. They were good too. Jessica, one of the owners, gave us a little background on the place. She was very nice. Our wait person was Ellie, and she was also very nice. Everyone who served was nice and friendly. We will definitely go back again, maybe during the warmer weather so that we can walk around a bit. This is definitely someplace you want to try!

The place is so vintage lying gorgeous, and chef Zach is an absolute artist at culinary mastering flavor and textures perfectly. They also have seasonal dishes and desserts, the Pumpkin affgato was divine! The staff are beautiful people inside and out. You'll be so charmed by this place in every aspect. The cigar bar & courtyard are so quaint as well.

Lucy was our server and was awesome! Food was great. Solid wine selection. As a beer drinker, I’d love a draft selection, but they have the necessities and the wine with dinner paired perfectly. Only thing better than the food was the service. Fantastic experience.

I came across Rocco’s on TikTok and knew I had to make a reservation! My boyfriend and I went for dinner last Friday for a date night, and overall we had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere is authentic, and I loved that it’s set in a beautifully renovated historic building. We started with a Caesar salad, which was fresh and tasty. We had also ordered the arancini as an appetizer, but our server forgot to place the order, so we never received it. ): For our mains, I had the chicken cutlet al Limone and my boyfriend had the veal medallion scarpariello-style, both were outstanding! The flavors felt straight from an Italian grandmother’s kitchen, homemade and full of heart. On the side, we shared the truffle potato purée (absolutely to die for!) and the penne pomodoro, which were both excellent. To finish, we shared the tiramisu for dessert, which was delicious and the perfect ending to the meal. Overall, the food was phenomenal and I’d definitely return, next time, I’ll hopefully be able to try the arancini!

We booked a reservation on short notice and ran the gamut - cocktails in the bar at Villagio, dinner outside at Rocco's, finishing up with a cigar and cocktail in the 1864 Club. It's a great setup, with an "upscale casual" feel. It's a new team, but it never showed. The service was superb throughout. The bartender, wait staff, and lounge hosts were very friendly, helpful, and attentive. They all explained how they are navigating the liquor license situation, so we had to be thoughtful about drink selections. The food was very good. We started with the Tomato & Burrata and Caesar salads. Both were strong! Rocco's Pasta and Sauce was a great mix of meats and seasonings though it was was a bit overcooked. Cousin Tony's Gnocchi was flavorful with a nice, spicy finish. We finished off by sharing gelato, which was also top-notch. After dinner, we went into the 1864 Club to "look around" and ended up smoking a very nice cigar while sipping a surprising good PA-based bourbon.

We visited Rocco’s this weekend to celebrate my friend’s birthday. The food was good, and the waitress was exceptional. I like DiAnoia’s better. However, we had a bit of a surprise when we brought a cake, as we had done at several other restaurants like Takö, Altius, Viva La Vida, and Eleven. For some reason, Rocco’s stated that it is against the Health Department. Despite this, they decided to make an exception and would charge us $75 for cutting a cake for four people. We were surprised and a bit skeptical about the sudden change in policy and the high price. I am unsure how the $75 fee suddenly complied with the Health Department. Also, most places charge $5-6 a person for a cutting fee. I was quite repulsed. Additionally, it is an older building, so I understand that the insulation may not be the best, but it was uncomfortably hot inside. I was sticking to my chair. I would eat their food again, but wouldn’t celebrate a thing there.

We really really really wanted to love it but it fell flat for three out of 4 diners. I’ll start with the good. The design and decor are beautiful. The staff was warm and accommodating. We were surprised for an Italian restaurant that they didn’t have Prosecco, Pinot Grigio and were out of Chianti. Servers should be trained on bar menu. When we asked for a-recommendation instead of prosecco she brought a flat white wine. And when we asked for something to add to coffee like amaretto, frangelico, etc she had never heard of any and had to return to the bar to check 3 times. What a missed opportunity to run up our bar tab. For food, two of us ordered chicken cutlets and one ordered the veal cutlet. Now I’ll be fair here. We are Italians from the same region of Italy as the owners so maybe we set expectations high but the cutlets tasted premade and than pan fried a second time to heat up. They were bone dry, lacked crisp and actually charred and hard to cut. One diner had the chicken with lemon and we all agreed it was fantastic and we all had plate envy. The bread was delicious too and we had no problem paying for it because it was good. Appetizers and sides were also fairly good. But overall nothing so great that will compel us to come back. I’m really sorry to say that! I do wish the owners and staff the best of luck because I love the concept. And maybe we just came on an off night.

I was meeting a group of friends there at 6. I arrived late as can be, angry, and frostbitten! Because there is no signage that says Rocco's! There is no street number saying 939! I was out in the dark walking back and forth up and down the street in sub freezing temperatures trying to find this place for over 20 minutes. When you call to try to get directions help, they don't ANSWER THE PHONE! The gnocchi was fine. I didn't like the tiramisu at all. It was stiff and entirely too sweet. The place was packed and very loud. Oh, and they lost our reservation, after my friend made the arrangement weeks in advance.

Absolutely love the space. The atmosphere is fantastic and everyone is super nice and so there's a lot of potential but I don't intend to go back to eat. The portion of gnocchi was small. I'm Italian and gnocchi can easily fill you up. In fact I rarely finish my meal but I not only had all of my gnocchi and shared the meatball appetizer, but I went for dessert after and ate once I got home. I followed this place through Instagram and really want to like it more but it's overpriced for what you typically can get when eating Italian.

I was in town for the weekend with my girlfriend and took a gamble on eating at what appeared to be a nice new Italian restaurant with a small sample of pretty good reviews at the time. I was unfortunately disappointed by most facets of this "ristorante". The first not-so-great impression was of a waitress who did little more than pass out menus, pronounce menu items incorrectly, and seemed to be having her first waiting experience. The arancini appetizer was flavorful and the best part of the meal. The penne pesto genovese was very lacking, with only a whiff of pesto and seemed completely unsalted--it truly tasted less flavorful than butter noodles and we had to ask for parmesan and salt to add to it. The waiter brought the items and had no interest in inquiring further. The gnocchi was decent, but was actually a little oversalted (we joked that the chef threw the salt for genovese into gnocchi by accident). The venue was nice overall, but when all of the staff appear to be college students and former Applebee's waiters, it dampers the ambiance a bit. I would suggest going to a different Italian restaurant, even if the only reservation is at a less convenient time.

​A Disappointing Evening at Rocco's Pittsburgh ​Last night's 6:30 PM Sunday reservation at Rocco's Pittsburgh was profoundly disappointing, despite the restaurant's beautiful setting. ​After being seated, it took 47 minutes for us to receive anything beyond a bottle of wine, water, and a salad. What followed highlighted a clear breakdown in kitchen communication and management oversight. ​Immediately after finally placing our dinner order, the server returned to inform me that my selection was no longer available. This was followed by a subsequent trip where we learned the staple of any Italian restaurant—simple oil and bread—was also out of stock. A fourth visit delivered the final blow: a backup entree I'd spent my wait time selecting was also unavailable. ​The extended waits and multiple menu errors suggest a severe lack of leadership and kitchen coordination. Our server handled the difficult news with grace, but it's unacceptable that they were repeatedly placed in a position to deliver bad news that should have been preemptively managed by a floor or kitchen manager. ​Ultimately, after an excessively long and frustrating experience, we canceled our orders and opted for a pizza delivery from a nearby restaurant. The stunning atmosphere cannot compensate for such lackluster operational management and a complete inability to deliver the basic promise of a dinner reservation. I sincerely hope management takes concrete steps to address these serious service and inventory issues. My only pictures, never got to the point of having food in front of me.

We came here for our anniversary and left very disappointed. While the ambience was nice, the service and food did not live up to expectations. Our server repeatedly misunderstood orders, even confusing chicken parmesan with veal. The veal medallion arrived lukewarm and tasted pre-cooked, while the chicken parmesan was just average. The drink menu was also underwhelming. A cocktail I ordered, everything separately because there is not a formal cocktail menu, I had to send back and settle for a beer. Small details, like not receiving a steak knife for meat dishes, added to the disappointment. Overall, the atmosphere was pleasant, but the service and food did not justify the high prices. We would not return.

Very disappointed in the overall experience here. Whoever did the restoration of the building did a phenomenal job, but that is where my praise ends. The music was both too loud and inappropriate in style for the setting (I love Dean Martin as much as the next person, but That's Amore doesn't need to play loud enough that I can't converse with my table for me to know it's an Italian restaurant.) We waited an exceedingly long time for the waitress to come to the table. She seemed quite inexperienced and unsure of how to greet guests. The idea that the restaurant hired untrained/did not train their staff is supported by the fact that the table next to us had to teach their server how to open a bottle of wine not once but twice. This perhaps could have been forgiven had she been more attentive. We also waited a long time for drinks and this is where the true trouble began. My boyfriend ordered a beer (from a less-than-impressive beer list more appropriate for a Pirates game) which she brought out mildly warm with no glass. I ordered a French 75 and was very puzzled when a pink drink came out with half a lemon perched on top of the champagne flute. This is my favorite drink which I order quite frequently and knew immediately what they had served me was incorrect. I verified with the waitress to which she responded "Does it not taste like a French 75?" before taking it back. This in and of itself would not have been such an issue, except that on the bill, she attempted to charge me nearly $30 for a glass of rose, rather by than the oz pour of gin which would have been appropriate if there was not a set price for such a cocktail. In retrospect, I'm very grateful I sent it back as she would have charged me nearly double the standard cocktail price for a glass of wine that I did not order that was clearly dressed up with an obscenely large lemon wedge to attempt to fool me. This was further exaggerated by not only her aforementioned attempt to gaslight me, but also by the next table talking to the manager about why her martini was served in an unchilled pint glass. Something to do with the bar and health department and not being able to serve cocktails yet? My table wasn't told this? I had to eavesdrop on the manager speaking to the next table? Instead I got a veiled attempt of an imitation cocktail? There was no reason the server would have been unaware of this or for her not to inform me. The food was a separate issue. The wine and cheese pairing was abysmally small and ill-presented. The arancini was too salty. My mother's pasta was so overcooked you could barely stab it with a fork. The pesto could barely be classified as pesto in taste or texture. My swordfish had a nice crust, but zero flavor. My boyfriend did eat his steak, but in his words, it was "nothing to write home about" which is rather sad for a $54 steak. If one is going to rack up a bill of this size in Pittsburgh, please go to Monterey Bay.
