Met up with my uncle to celebrate our birthdays...he recommended this joint...it was authentic and awesome! A German accordion player sing8ng and playing...roasted duck was good, but the sliced potatoes and sauerkraut were the best! Please make a reservation as this place was packed on a Saturday night!
Food portions just like in Germany—High quality. I’m Tri National with Poland and Luxembourg. I was looking for comfort food that felt like home. Felt like home. There’s a Bavarian Restaurant very similar to this one in Portland, Oregon. I was there couple weeks ago. The cooks here and there—the taste and the texture—very close in standards.
This place is pretty easy to review. Great food, good people, a little bit on the more expensive side but a clear indication of you get what you pay for. I have been here half a dozen times now, and the food is always just as good. Fresh home cooked taste, with a beer selection that is killer. You cannot go wrong eating here, but you should bring your apetite because they serve good portions of food. Also as a side note, duck is not easy to cook, but they get it right every single time. Everything here is fresh, from the bread to the sides, and it clearly shows in the quality of food they deliver. This is a truly great place to dine or just stop by to have a drink with their great beer and appetizer selection.
I got the chicken cordon bleu stuffed schnitzel...OMG it's good. The chicken schnitzel is tender and moist with a crispy crust and is stuffed with ham and cheese. Also had the French onion soup which is super tasty. The owner is usually there making the rounds and ensuring diners are happy and the food is high quality.
Great Bavarian restaurant in Plano, TX. Based by the place during my previous Dallas trips. This time I needed a bavarian Weissbier and had to stop. Outstanding bavarian and german food. Very good prepared. Schnitzel was fried in a pan with butter and not fried in a deep fryer 👍🏼. The selection of german and in my case bavarian beers from tap was great 🍺. To all my friends in the Dallas metro, great place to get authentic bavarian food and drinks. Last thing to mention, they also serve german schnaps in case you ordered hungry and had a hard time to finish what you ordered. Resume ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Went there with my dental team to celebrate 17th year Anniversary. Good German food, good service. Restaurant is nicely decorated. They moved to a new location. The immediately went looking for a moving train and they have it! They are famous for beer and German sausages. They have great mushrooms sauté as well.
If you're looking for authentic German cuisine in the Metroplex, this is where you want to go. I find it hard to believe there is another German restaurant in DFW better than Bavarian Grill. The food and their German beer selection is incredible. My aunt I couldn't make up our minds what we wanted. Everything looked so good, so we just ordered a bunch of stuff to share. The spätzle, sausages, and jäger schnitzel are all delicious. I plan on eating here much more often now. Thank you, Bavarian Grill!
This is the best German restaurant I have been IN DFW area so far. The atmosphere alone is worth the trip. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place was packed but I only had to wait about 20 min, which goes by fast since you can drink at the bar while you wait. The service was on point. Now...the food is incredible. I strongly recommend the fried brie appetizer. The special jelly that comes with it reminded me of my Oma's home made jellies. I can't wait to go back and try the test of the menu.
The food, beer selection and service was wonderful. The server was very helpful and gave wonderful beer and food recommendation. I highly recommend this place. The dark Asambock was an excellent recommendation as well as the 5 sausage plate. We will be going back. No complaints at all. WONDERFUL!!!!
Wow, is all I can say. Great service and food. Lots of others felt the same way because it was a full house when we got there. If I hadn't made reservations I don't think we would have been able to eat (so make sure you make reservations). I grew up in Germany, so I am pretty picky about my German food. The goulash and rouladen were delicious, and the Black Forrest cake was made correctly (you wouldn't believe how many restaurants mess up this cake). They also had a big beer selection, draft and bottled. If you like German food, you owe it to yourself to visit. I'll be coming back next time I'm visiting the area.
absolutely love this place!! I came here for the second time with my husband for date night. our server was Lance and he was wonderful. they have German beer on tap and delicious schnitzel, what more could you ask for? Sehr toll! Ich werde wiederkommen!!
This is the best Bavarian food I have found in Texas. Their menu changes slightly as the seasons change. They have the staple Bavarian items. The atmosphere is authentic German. The outside of the building is modern but the inside reminds you of a small town German restaurant. The staff is great and Juergan will come around checking on the tables. The beir on draft is amazing! Go visit and you will add a favorite restaurant to your list.
We first visited the Bavarian Grill in the early 2000s at the old location on Parker Road. The new restaurant and bier garten is bigger and better, with some touches from the old restaurant, such as the tiny train that travels around the dining room. The fare is good and authentic, but we recommend going to the good German beer and atmosphere.
this place is awesome! the atmosphere is super cool, theres always something to look at. the service was kind of slow because they were understaffed and training, but they were very friendly. towards the end of our dinner there was live music. the food was delicious and had huge portion sizes. our server Franklin was very knowledgeable and he even performed the birthday song on the cowbells for us. thank you!
Food - Great Service - First class Ambience - Nice Cost for two - $60 - $80 Will come back - Yes Complimentary bread - Good stuff Place looks smaller but it is bigger inside. Still, it gets packed up really quickly. Though we were seated quickly but a reservation is strongly recommended during peak hours. Wait can be greater than 30 mins. There was so much to look at. Decor was german and was eye catching. Waitress wore Dirndl but guys were in casuals. An appealing place. Have birthday: ask for it. They celebrate with cowbell songs. Loved it!! Care for a free scoop of ice cream - yes, you get one. Only thing I though could be better was seating. Too many tables in a small space made it difficult to get in or out of your seats. Good food is what I went for, that’s what they served. Will come back again.
I was stationed in Germany for many years in the 80s & 90s. This is the best jägerschnitzel I have found in the U.S. love this place, got for my birthday almost every year. The food is great!
Authentic. Tasty. Fun. Best real German food and beer in the U.S. Period. I can't believe I've never done a review for Bavarian Grill, yet, after more than 20 years of visits. I figure it's because when I started going many many years ago, it was before smart phones and doing reviews as you dine. But still... I should have. This place is great for many reasons, and not just the food and beer! FOOD World. Class. And lots of creative options. Plus, special menus throughout the year with even more variety. I've eaten so many items and can't even pick favorites but the Ham Hock, half Duck, any of the schnitzels, and late fall they have a wild game sausage and other fun wild game items (Elk Schnitzel!) that are spectacular BEER Again, world class. And for good reason - Juergen cares about his beer program. It has to be German beer - no budweiser - and draft is served in the correct, authentic glassware - what a collection of glassware! There's even a beer card you can begin filling out to earn your very own STEIN! GLASSWARE OK, I just mentioned the glassware but then I realized it should be it's own topic. There are hundreds of beer glasses from German breweries behind the counter including some very special glasses that are reported to be the only 7 of them in the entire US - very limited, and very large :) STAFF The staff is fantastic with several members being part of the family for many years. They want to answer questions and tell what they know. Riley is the beer manager is incredibly knowledgeable. Allen is not on staff but regularly plays his accordian while wearing his authentic German garb. ATTIRE Lots of great outfits abound EVENTS Special events are worth watching out for - sign up for the email list! They do special dinners (roasting an entire pig? Yup!) and multiple beer events (tastings with breweries, etc). OTHER It is pricey to offer authentic ingredients so know that you'll pay more than other restaurants but I believe strongly you get what you pay for. So, it's not cheap but worth every penny - you'll leave full and happy!
Phenomenal dinner. I left with a HAPPY belly and will be talking about this meal for weeks (bier.. schnitzel something? Chicken cutlet fried to perfection, perfectly seasoned veggies on a bed of gravy I wanted to lick off the plate.) Harrison and the other staff were so sweet and friendly. It was right before close so we had the patio to ourselves. 10/10 - will be back, and have at least 5 new visitors headed your way.
We sat outside for dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the flowers and pleasant atmosphere. The service was excellent and the schnitzel baden baden was superb. Their wide selection of schnitzels brought back memories of being in Germany. Beers were good, great selection, but expensive. $11 for a 0.5 liter (16 oz.)
Real German food with lots of items that I cannot pronounce. The duck was by far my favorite item of the many our party sampled but the elk was a close second. Not really a fan of the potato side but the red cabbage more than made up for it. And the mixed veggies were some of the best I have had. The carrots for example were perfectly cooked.
Phenomenal service, food, environment and entertainment! Staff are well trained and knowledgeable in their menu and can give great recommendations. Food is on the more expensive side, typically ranging between 15-25$ per person, but the quality and quantity of food provided is substantially better than any other German restaurant in the Dallas area. They also rotate their menu depending on the season, and even have people set up little markets inside to sell German and Bavarian cultural items and clothing. Definitely great for large groups, families, and those who want an authentic Bavarian experience.
Bavarian Grill is so much fun. I loved the live music, traditional clothing, decor and food. The service is amazing and our waitresses gave us great recommendations for food and drinks. I think it’s best to make reservations ahead of time because it gets packed and you might have to wait to be seated. There is plenty of parking so no need to worry about that.
This has got to be the best German restaurant I've ever been to. It was clean, with nice interior decor and good service. I really enjoyed my draft Paulaner Hefeweizen, my favorite German beer that I couldn't forget after my trip to Frankfurt, Germany, and I can confirm that the taste of the beer was exactly like what I had in Germany. The pork ham hock was a highlight, and to my surprise, it tasted very mild, not saltish at all, and very crispy. It was a very enjoyable dish. I also enjoyed the cold cuts sampler with the pretzel, the meats were very tasty. The bratwurst stuff mushrooms was very flavorful and I liked it a lot.
My best friends and I visited Germany today by eating at Bavarian Grill!!!!! The moment you walk into the restaurant, you are transported into the beauty of Germany and its hospitality. Omg, we were first met by the beautiful and friendly hostess Miriam who welcomed us and escorted us to our table. We were so in awe with the beauty of the restaurant. we started taking pics and pics, and more pics!!!!! After our breathtaking moments of enjoying the amazing abundance of the restaurant. We were greeted by our beautiful and friendly waitress, Nicole. Nicole helped us with understanding the menu, so we were able to order exactly what we wanted. The food was so delicious 😋 everything!!!! We ordered several entrées to enjoy the flavors of Germany, and we topped it off with a delicious dessert Black Forest Cake. Omg what a way to enjoy great food and friendship 😋 Thank you so much, Bavarian Grill, for making our Germany experience awesome!!!!! Very Happy customers Mardianne and friends!!!! We I'll definitely be back!!!!
This restaurant has really good ambiance with someone playing an accordion when we went there Saturday night for dinner. We got seated right away although it was very busy and the service was good. We enjoyed all of the food that we ordered. It took some time for our order to come out since it was a really busy night with several tables celebrating birthdays. It was worth the wait.
Our favourite German restaurant! Everything was unique here. The decors, the customs and the menu. We held a party at Bavarian Grill for my father-in-law's 80th birthday. Highlight was when staffs played him the happy birthday song with little bells. Everyone was impressed by the performance, it was such a memorable moment. Food and beer were always exceptional, service remarkable. Can't wait to go back. Highly recommend.
We had not been back in a while and being back today felt like coming home. Every employee understands what you stand for and helps us to have a wonderful experience. It is really fun to tell people about how excellent everything is!
It was my first time coming and I am very impressed! Our waiter was very interactive and kind. He took great care of my family, which i am thankful for because they can get a little loud 😅😅 We had a good time talking to him though! The food was extremely delicious, I finished my entire plate. If this place wasnt so far away, id come more often
To be fair, this is not my first time to this restaurant, but it is my first time to this location. The Bavarian Grill has been part of my "go-to" restaurants (9 yrs) when I need to shake things up. Their staff is always kind and accommodating - just like the owner. I'm very pleased with the new location. Don't get me wrong, I had amazing experiences at the old location; however, this location is perfect for the experience. They were able to replicate the feel of their old biergarten without the feeling of being "crammed." The food is amazing! They've figured out how to transport you to a completely different part of the world through their food, beer (especially when the have the Weihenstephan Kristall on tap), and hospitable service. If you're in the mood for German food, then this is you place! Heck, go to try something new. Happy eating!
We came here again for Dad's 86th birthday. We usually spend his birthday here and have been for over 20 years, this was my first time in the new location, we used to go to the one near Parker all the time. They pay a lot of attention to creating an atmosphere that feels immersed in Bavarian culture, Arts and of course beer. They have live music from a real accordion player, Alan, who has been playing as long as I've been going there even in the old location. It is a very nice experience overall for those looking for something different or something bavarian. I had the jager schnitzel, breaded veal cutlets that's been fried, with a side of creamed spinach and spatzle. My dad had the Rouladen (sp?) and my mom had the same as I did except with their traditional salad. The plates come with a lot of food, so be prepared to take home a doggy box. We tried their bread pudding for dessert and of course was very good with a delightful vanilla cream sauce and dark cherries. My dad left happy so we couldn't have asked for more.
This is one of the places I would recommend to anyone who came to Dallas. It is also one of about 5 restaurants I will actively leave Dallas for. This is a truly fun and superlative restaurant. The food is on par with the best German I've had in Munich with the schweinhaxe being the standout must get. I was finally lucky enough to go during asparagus season; Bavarian grill is actually the largest importing restaurant in the US for German white asparagus. The beer list features the most German beers on draft I've ever seen stateside. Lastly, it is a jovial, energetic, and family friendly place. If you're not making the trip to Germany in the next few months, at least make the trip to the Plano hinterlands for this special place. Update: a move brought them into a bigger space just down the street. It's more spacious, and as such necessarily less cozy, but all the best parts are still there. The only downside to this restaurant remains that there's only one.
We always have a wonderful time here so decided it was Bavarian Grill for our anniversary. We lucked out with our server! Brie was fun, engaged and very well informed. She helped us with the menu and took the time to get to know us. I can highly recommend the winter menu - get the sampler if you can’t make your mind up like me! If you can’t get to Germany, go to the Bavarian Grill!
I’ve been to German restaurants in about 20 different states…this is the probably the best I’ve experienced in the U.S. Nearly 40 imported beers on tap and a wide-ranging menu that delivers all the time. They also have off-menu specialties that regulars enjoy. Super friendly and accommodating staff…Gianni and Abby are the best!!! I went there twice on my three-day business trip. Had a variety of beers both nights. Got the Nurnberger sausages for an appetizer both nights before getting the off menu Ziguener Schnitzel on night one and the Wiesbaden Hendl (Oktoberfest chicken) on night two. Everything delicious. Now I just have to find more reasons for business trips to Plano.
Been going to the old location for years and have not stopped by the new location due to distance and whatever. But I'm so glad I did as it still has the same great food and atmosphere. The restaurant is decorated almost like a little Bavarian museum where you are transported as you walk through the door. Still had two sides which is the restaurant and the other which you van still get food but maybe more lively given the proxity to the large bar. Service was excellent and it does get very busy. Food is always too notch including the drink and dessert menu.
I’ve been here twice and have enjoyed it both times. The old restaurant used to have a long wait, but the new one you can get seated even on a busy Friday night. We ordered the pretzel, ham hock, mac n cheese, and lean beef. All were delicious and my favorite is definitely the ham hock. It’s crunchy, sticky, and flavorful. The food can take awhile to come out but they do set expectations especially with the ham hock needing more time to cook. They also have live music which is quite nice too. Overall, definitely worth trying.
I can not make this stuff up. Bavarian Grill exceeded my expectations. Their atmosphere is just amazing. The staff are very nice and well-mannered. I honestly have no words for the food. It was amazing. I had a little bit of everything. The black truffle Mac and cheese was so good, There were mushrooms and peas in it but it definitely didn’t taste like it. It was so good. The chicken and pork were both cooked perfectly and make my stomach very satisfied. The fries which are a very main staple to my perfect dinner were very crisp and seasoned. I recommend this place and I will be eating here again later.
A little piece of southern Germany right here in the metroplex love to come here for special days. We did valentines have done birthdays and anniversary too. Great food great atmosphere and great service.
This was our first time to the Bavarian Grill. Our waiter was Peter who helped us pick through the best of us on the menu. He did a great job taking care of us. The food was served absolutely hot, which is rare in many restaurants nowadays.Delicious above expectations. My only screw up with the evening was leaving my newly started beer club card at the table when we left. We hope to go again soon.
Outstanding experience! Our waiter Jordan was amazing as were the rest of the staff. The food was excellent and the portions were huge! We ordered the sausage entree, jager schnitzel, whitefish, stuffed pasta, and the schnitzel with the fried onions which name escapes me. All were absolutely delicious! We had the escargot and the charcuterie with the massive pretzel for appetizers and they were all amazing as well. And each beer we tried was great! The entire place is decked out with all kinds of awesome decor including tiny trains running on tracks up high. We will definitely be returning soon!
My friends frequent this location and invited us when we were in town. I forget how much bigger the dining rooms are in Texas compared to the West Coast. The service from the hostess and waiter was phenomenal. They even had a guy singing the whole time. The portions are extremely enormous, so if you come hungry you will leave feeling stuffed like a turkey. We ordered the Ham Hock. The meat was so tender it fell off the bone easily. There was a good ratio of crispy skin and the meat was seasoned so well. I had a couple of bites of the sausage, they were delicious and we ended the meal with their rendition of a peach cobbler. It was mounds of peaches and more than enough for 3 considering we had large entrees.
I lived in Germany for three years and the Bavarian Grill is the closest to German culture as I can get in this area of Texas. As soon as I walked into this restaurant and smelled the food and saw the decor a flood of wonderful Bavarian memories came right back to me. This is a popular restaurant to eat at, so check your days and times if you don't like large crowds. I enjoy coming here when it is crowded and livelier with the small band playing German songs. The food is excellent and tastes authentic to what I've eaten in Germany. Try the many Schnitzels on the menu—they are my favorite! There many drinks to choose from—colas, wines, and beers. The service is very friendly and our server was excellent even when the restaurant was packed out. This restaurant is fun for date night, family gathering or celebrations! There is even a small deli in the front where you can purchase deli items during it's hours of operation.
I stopped by Bavarian Grill with a craving for Schweinshaxe and German beer, and it exceeded expectations. While the food took a bit longer than anticipated, the authenticity and flavor were well worth the wait. Our server, Tiffanie, provided outstanding service, offering thoughtful beer recommendations and generous samples. Her warmth and professionalism truly elevated the experience. Unfortunately, during our visit, Tiffanie suddenly collapsed and had to be taken out by ambulance. I'm leaving this review not only to commend the great meal, but also to express my sincere thanks and well wishes. Tiffanie, I hope you're doing okay.
What a wonderful and aesthetically amazing environment! Great Beers! Good food! If you wanna have a fantastic meal and grab a buzz while you're at it, than hop on the mini train revolving around the entire restaurant and grab a seat! Some of the best service and food you could ask for! How often do you get Bavarian? I know I'm gonna be getting it a lot more! 10/10!
We had a fantastic time here experiencing this fantastic cultural icon! Lot's of delicious dishes (even if you can't pronounce the names) and you're sure to find a taste for everyone! Going at Christmas time adds another layer of fun and joy to the experience. Lot's of room for large parties.
Service was great and they were very helpful and knew the menu selections and could describe them as well. Also had a couple of off menu selections they shared. Atmosphere was unique and comfortable. Great beer selection and equally helpful on the my selection as well.
Amazing jewel right here in North Texas. Traditional and authentic Bavarian cuisine and beverages that will leave you wanting more. Service is very fast, friendly and attentive. I HIGHLY recommend dining here.
My family and I went for our first time here today and it just blew us away. The atmosphere is amazing, it feels like you've been transported to Europe. The music was great and our server, Kyle, was phenomenal and extremely knowledgeable and was just great. This was probably the best service we've had at a restaurant in a long time. And the food was out of park. My dad and I had the Weisswurst and red cabbage (the cabbage was almost as good as my mom's and my German grandma's!) which was fantastic. My mom had the Spaetzle with mushrooms, ham, and peas and is already wanting more! We haven't had food this good in a long time. The beer was great as well, couldn't be happier with our time there. Highly recommend and already itching to go back!
I had a wonderful time at Bavarian Grill. If you are looking for an authentic German experience, this is the place to go! The vibe is incredible. Between the live accordion music and the traditional decor, you truly feel like you’ve been transported to a village in Germany. It’s festive, lively, and perfect for a night out. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. They were knowledgeable about the menu and made the dining experience feel very personal and warm.
I've eaten here a few times and have enjoyed every single visit. Food tastes great!! There is live music, singing, seasonal food menu. Outdoor seating as well. Owner is friendly too, lovely atmosphere all-around.
I had been craving German food for quite some time and I finally decided to take myself on a date last night. (Hubby had to work 🙁) From the moment I walked in, I knew it was going to be a magical experience! I sat at the bar and Abby greeted me with the most beautiful smile! I ordered from the No Gluten menu (I have Celiac disease) and then settled in to enjoy the music. Greg, the accordionist, played with such joy! Then he played The Chicken Dance! Well, I just had to jump up and join in the fun! Afterwards, he sat down next to me and asked me what song I would like to hear. I said, “Du, du liegst mir im Herzen”. My grandfather used to sing it to me when I was little. Greg played it masterfully and I cried tears of joy! If you ever need to reaffirm your faith in humanity, come to Bavarian Grill! You may walk in alone but you leave feeling like you made friends for a lifetime!💙
First time trying German food and we were a bit hesitant about how to properly order but the waiter was great at being patient and made great recommendations. Overall, all the dishes had a very in depth and layered flavors and seasonings. The highlight was the pork hock, super tender, crispy skin and smoky. Their recommended sides paired well. The Weihenstephaner Hefe-Weizen is one of the best wheat beers I’ve had. The restaurant is very kids and family friendly. In one of the sections, there are operating model trains 🚂 and they kept the kiddo entertained for the entire time and we were able to truly enjoy our meal. The decorations make you feel as if you were dining at grandma’s. Despite being a big restaurant, it felt cozy.
If you’re in Plano, TX please make sure you stop by this restaurant. While traveling my boyfriend and I got a hotel nearby here that made us curious as to what the place was like. Inside it feels like if TGIF went German. Nostalgic German decorations line the shelves and they were clean. The waitress we had was friendly and helpful. Even though the kitchen was a little behind, we understood we were eating authentic German food that takes time. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful time here, we hope you do too.
Wonderful experience and delicious German cuisine that will make you feel like you are eating at a delicious German restaurant. Wait staff was truly knowledgeable and extremely attentive to our needs. Peter was our waiter and made our first experience here wonderful. Alan was the entertainment and he was top notch and funny. Highly recommended and pricing was definitely fair!
Lance was our server! Lance is a great server! Lots of warmth and charisma. He is very professional and gives great suggestions! Great food, great music, great atmosphere! We were sat in front of the live music❤️ a humble man playing the accordion! Some of the best live music we’ve heard!

Had the 5-sausage dinner with creamy spinach and sauerkraut. Oh, also a very tasty but slightly too-salty goulache to start. The smoked bratwurst and the regular bratwurst were awesome and the spinach was great as well. My friends had the pork cutlets and I tried some and really liked it with the mushroom sauce. Then we had the apple strudel with ice cream for dessert, which was good but mostly apples and very little pastry, which was odd. The meal was on the pricy side, but the ambience was neat. There's a mural wall that's good for photos on the way in, the staff are wearing outfits, and there was live music. A good, occasional splurge if you want German food!
First time here, we came for my boyfriend‘s birthday since he loves German beer and we had never been to age German restaurant. I loved the vibe and everyone is so friendly. The Gulasch soup was really good but I think we might’ve ordered the wrong entree. We tried the five sausage platter and didn’t think much of it but I would still be back for their beer and soup and maybe try one of their more traditional entrées.
PROs: Great location. Decor is authentic and interesting. Family dining ambience. Hostess was friendly. Our waitress, Sabrina, helped us and eased our concerns about the service. Sabrina was friendly and attentive to our orders. CONs: We felt hostess seated us tucked away where we were overlooked for service. We had to search for someone to take our order. Husband believes it took too long to have sausages served to us. And the dessert was bland. Our son wanted German food for his birthday. Approx: $117 (with tip); we ordered: Rahm Schnitzel, Ba,berger Beirzipfel, Maintaler auf Zwiebelsemm, Apfelstrudel, & Kirschtorte.
Fun experience! You feel transported to Germany. Surrounded by murals, memorabilias, and an actual electric train that rotates around the walls of the restaurant like it's traveling through the actual country. We came out for a team outing and birthday celebration. Although they did not allow outside cookies for the birthday celebration but i should have called ahead to check. Friendly staff. Some ordered the escargot while others ordered the schnitzel. I wish I had tried some of their desserts. I was also told they have a secret menu online(not so secret anymore). A bit on the pricey side but the experience was definitely "priceless".
It was a great place to eat at, the large choice of beer is much appreciated! The reason I do not give it 5 stars is because it is a little overpriced. I had a large beer, a schnitzel dish and my share of an appetizer (split in 5), and the bill came out at $80 (including an 18% tip). A little excessive for pork, mashed potatoes and beer.
We enjoyed a nice German dinner and an assortment of draft beers. The food is hearty and filling. The staff is friendly and food comes out of the kitchen promptly. We enjoyed the atmosphere and tonight we had an accordion player. No singing, maybe next time. You should definitely try this legendary DFW restaurant.
German beer hall vibe. Sauerbraten was good, swapped spaetzle for the house bread dumpling. Loved the sauerbraten and red cabbage. Spaetzle was a bit dry. The cup of lentil soup was delicious. Apple strudel dessert was average and didn't care for the bread pudding. Disclosure on the bread pudding is that I took that to go for my wife, but after warming it up neither of us was impressed. Bottom line is I will return but will skip the bread pudding.
Bavarian atmosphere was good. Almost made me carry on in German. I actually spoke German to one of the staff who asked me how the food was. He didn't understand anything I said. As to the staff, other than the aforementioned bus boy, no one asked how my food was. I was surprised by that. Usually the staff is most curious and eager for feedback. We'll they will find my feedback in this review. The waiter was always hurriedly scurrying about. While attending me he never stayed more than a few seconds. As for the food, I enjoyed the yeagerschnitzel. I prefer a thicker cut but this is Austrian not German food. It was very good for what it was. The spatzle was good and only needed a light sprinkling of salt which I added myself. A live according player wes a nice touch and bumped the atmosphere up a notch to 5 stars. Feeling hungrig? Head over to Bavarian Grill. Next time I am having a beer!

Overall it was all right. I feel like the atmosphere is great, but the Spätzle was so bland and the rouladen gravy was exceptionally salty. We waited for almost an hour before receiving our food. Maybe it was just an off night. I’d go again but I wouldn’t go out of my way. Our server was kind and checked in with us frequently. I was just a little underwhelmed. I think I much prefer Henk’s down in Dallas.
Arrived a little before 5:30pm on a Saturday night. They were starting to get busy but we were seated right away. Ordered the lindauer geschnetzeltes from the spring menu which reminded me of beef stroganoff & the bockbier pretzel crusted schnitzel. Both were ok tasting, the schnitzel was a bit tough. Food took way too long to come out, about 45 minutes with no explanation. They brought the wrong food out twice as well. Maybe it was an off night.
Good food, but passive aggressive servers / service. Recommend ordering to-go. Best / closest restaurant to authentic German cuisine in TX I’ve had thus far.
Came to visit right before an event I needed to go to. Not sure what was up today, but it took nearly 40 minutes for me and my husband to get the two schnitzels we ordered. Ended up pretty much missing the event I had to be at due to just sitting and waiting for food. It was delicious, but I wish the hostess or waitress would have warned us about the wait as we would have come back to try on another day. I hope we can give this place another try with less of a wait next time.
Other than the onion soup, which was phenomenal, I thought the food fell way short of expectations. For me, sauerkraut should not be sweetened, especially with pineapple juice. The atmosphere is very cool, the service is mediocre, and the food was fine but significantly below expectations. As someone who loves sauerkraut and hearty German food, this experience made me sad. That said, definitely get the onion soup!
The food is absolutely delicious, and it is as authentic as if you were actually in Germany. The service leaves a little to be desired. We placed two straightforward orders for entrees, and only one was correct. Every beer we attempted to order wasn't available, and when we finally ordered, we received something different. The restaurant itself is a jewel, and the food is delicious.
When you first walk in, I really think they should welcome you in German since thats what this place wants to be. That would've been kinda cool. The menu is basically a wall of text. Be prepared to read for like 15 minutes. What they should do is change the name of the dishes to English and put the German name italicized underneath, then shorten the description by removing the suggested side dishes. The beer menu is not even formatted right but they have many to choose from. Next, the food had barely any flavor. It tasted like it was missing something, like salt. $57 for 1 app, 2 entrees, and 2 beers (smallest size). Service was great, server was nice, and food came out at a decent time. But if the names of the dishes are in German, at least make an effort to pronounce the dishes correctly.

I have loved this place over the years! We made reservations for January 21st for six people to celebrate two birthdays. When we arrived a few minutes before six, we were promptly seated. However,…
prices higher than listed on menu, only got two asparagus spears! (see photo of menu, this was the Weisser Spargel mit einem Schnitzel nach) and poor service. food was fine, definitely not worth what I paid for it. do NOT order the “wildberry cheesecake”. looked nothing like photo and the “whipped cream” was 100% coolwhip.
I was never been in any German restaurants and was hoping having an extortionately experience. I was so excited to go there. The food was so blend and the waitress didn’t sound like willing to explain. Main food came before the appetizer and the third side dish never came to our table. The portion of mashed potato was so small. The only excitement was the gentleman opened up my beer and pure it to my glass and he was very sweet letting me filming him. I am so sad the experience didn’t turn out as I expected.
Good food, but the pricing feels out of step. The menu is pretty classic German fare (sausages and schnitzels) but most entrees ended up around 30 (to $50 once you add sides) which felt overpriced for what you get. quality was solid and service was fine but we were surprised how empty it was considering we went the day before Valentines. Overall there are better value options in town at this price point. If they adjusted pricing I think they’d draw a bigger crowd.

We made a reservation four days in advance for a special 70th birthday celebration, confirmed all the details, and even called an hour before to reconfirm our 6pm reservation. Despite all that, we weren’t seated until 6:35pm. Our server didn’t arrive until 7pm, and food wasn’t served until nearly 7:50pm. We had chosen this restaurant hoping for a memorable evening, but instead were placed in a back room with no music and an awkward atmosphere. One of our guests has a medical condition that prevents them from standing for long periods, and the delay in seating was not only inconsiderate—it was unsafe. Our mother had a special medical release for this birthday outing, and we drove over 30 minutes to be there. We even arrived early to set up table decorations, which the staff couldn't accommodate. The service was painfully slow, water glasses went unfilled, and no one offered any kind of apology or discount for the inconvenience. The bathroom was far from our table, adding another layer of discomfort for our elderly guests. Had we been seated on time, we would have gladly spent more—but the entire experience felt like an afterthought to the staff. This was supposed to be a joyful celebration. Instead, it felt like we were forgotten. I wouldn’t recommend this place for any special occasion—or any occasion at all.
Was informed that the items on the gluten free menu are not gluten free even though it says that. I got sick off their appetizer and the owner proceeded to tell me how my allergy should take 2-3 hours to cause symptoms - which is absolutely not true. They brought out the main meal while I was in the bathroom sick as anything even though I took my allergy meds to try to counteract it. I didn’t eat my meal but the owner said since they made it I need to pay for it. They also brought out my gluten free dish and put it in front of the other family member and put the gluten dish where I was sitting. The final thing was a female employee or manager tried stopping me from leaving accusing me of not paying even though I paid and even left the server a tip. Would never go here again.
I see that there are so many good reviews for this place, but unfortunately this is not going to be one of them. We arrived and saw the parking lot was packed even though it was a Wednesday night, this is a good sign. My husband and I had gone to the old location many years before and remembered enjoying our experience, so we were excited to try the new Bavarian Grill. We were seated near the accordion player. He was good and added to the very nice atmosphere in the restaurant. Our server was polite and knowledgeable. However, I would like the extensive beer menu to be easier to understand and choose from without needing it all to be explained by the server. For starters there are no prices on the beer list, no alcohol percentages, no descriptions and nothing to tell you whether the beer is on draft or in a bottle or can. The server brought out bread, which did not seem fresh. We ordered the beer cheese spread and bread, which came with one pitiful, tiny roll and for an extra $1.95, you could have a second roll. We asked for more of the complimentary bread, which we were told would take 5 minutes, because it was baking. After a very long wait it came out, cold, and we were told that there was the beer club at the bar, and they had been given priority on the bread. Talk about making us feel like second class guests. Then came the duck entrée. We had decided we would only have appetizers (mainly because the menu is so expensive, its pricing is like fine dining, when it's definitely not) but the waiter suggested we try the entrée version ($27) of the duck appetizer ($16) because you get 12 slices of duck as opposed to the appetizer's six, and a potato pancake. It was very disappointing. The duck itself was delicious. It was smoked and served on a smear of lingonberry sauce. There were 12 slices of duck, but they were tiny. The potato pancake was hardly warm, and to fill up the plate to make it look like decent value, (or the incredibly gullible), they had spread out some sad, old and browning chopped romaine leaves, generously given us 6 grapes, and taken the trouble to open a can of mandarins and drop a spoonful on the plate too! Shocking! I can only imagine how Gordon Ramsey's reaction would have been! So, not going back, sadly. I wanted to like it. Afterwards we went to get Mediterranean food, because we were still hungry. I don't like writing reviews like this, and I definitely want to mention the good with the bad and be honest, but more than disliking writing bad reviews, I don't want others to have the same experience we did, which was a bad one, overall.
