Eaten there several times, the pizzas and pastas are very good. Drinks are tasty, cold and staff is friendly and attentive. However, I find it a bit expensive even for Playacar so had to go 4 stars.

Let me start by saying that the service and staff were great. This restaurant has the potential of being great. We ordered wine and paid 750 pesos for a bottle of wine I pay less than 200 pesos for in a grocery store. Menu did not accurately reflect what we were getting. I ordered the chicken escalope. The sauce was to die for but they gave me a chicken breast with under cooked carrots. Why not some rice or pasta to enjoy that delicious sauce. No bread to start. A few extras and you could be great. With all the great Italian restaurants you just have to do better.

We went without a reservation and were seated right away, their customer service was decent. We ordered several different dishes. We started with some octopus, which was Delicious! Maybe that set my expectations a little too high... overall, the appetizers and pizzas were good, but the pastas were disappointing at best. I have never sent food back before I was given ravioli at this restaurant. This was the most expensive restaurant that we ate at here in Mexico. When considering the price, there's definitely better options in the area, in my opinion.

My family went for dinner here last night & it was by far the worst dining experience ever!!! Before I start disclaimer, I AM NOT ANOTHER RESTAURANT OWNER as the owner of Mama Mia claims every bad review to be from a competitor. I am a tourist. We were seated at 7:30 & didn’t get any food until after 9:00. The food was poor quality, cold, undercooked & sour. Nothing good came out of that kitchen. We sent every dish back & then saw the chef/staff eating the pizza/pasta off of the plates we sent back to see if it was good… DISGUSTING!!!! not only that but they charged us full price even though nobody ate, ridiculous & not good service at all. No manager or owner was present to apologize for the situation. Very disappointing.

Servers first shift, very pleasant however it took 1.5 hours to get our food. Salmon was cold in the centre, undercooked. Fettuccine was served as tagletelle, many clumped together, pizza burrata tasted sour. Far from authentic Italian, sauce was brutal, a canned sauce is better - I get there are off days, which is what we chalked it up to, every dish went back to the kitchen almost as full as it was delivered. The reason for this review is due to how they managed the situation - no table visit from a manager or owner - server repeatedly apologized and charged full price for everything minus the raw salmon. Sorry but this isn’t up to par. If you don’t care for food quality, authenticity or guest experience you’ll be right at home here. I’m embarrassed for them. Casa Sofia is exceptional and only 5 minutes away. Sorry guys, you could have turned this around but you didn’t.

Just want to be sure that people have a fair chance at making the decision to eat here or not. The review mentioning food poisoning is 100% legitimate (I have the receipt to prove it). The owners are trying to discredit the review and claim it is fake/payed for by there competition with their proof being that the review was not made until long after when the reality is just that we are not big on leaving reviews. If you eat the pizza you should be safe but fairly certain it was some rancid oil that was used in the pasta dishes that caused the food poisoning for the rest of the party. The other odd part was they had a menu online that was completely different than what was offered (the menu online was much more appealing) and they change between being name Mamma Mia and Little Italy from what I can tell. I definitely will not be eating here again and hope they up their standards. Buyer beware.

Edit: the restaurant replied stating that we didn’t go to their restaurant when in fact we did. Now it’s called Mamma mia. There was the option to take a menu for New Years Eve or A la carte. The service and the food was horrible. We waited 2+ hours for pizzas that were cold, some people in the group did not receive their starters from the menu… Came to this place for NYE, we were sat down by 8pm, ordered at 8:30. By 10pm our food was still not ready, some received their cold pizzas 1 hour before the majority of the table was served. This is horrible quality compared to the extremely high prices. Save your money and your time and avoid this restaurant.

This is one of many visits that we've had to this bar and restaurant. I rarely write a negative review, but for the most part it has been VERY dissapointing. Tonight we came out and ordered Ravioli and a margharita pizza. The ravioli was great, the margarita pizza was a cheese pizza. I asked the waitress to be polite, "is this a margharita pizza?" and she replied a bit annoyed, "yes it is". The wine was also not that good. Its been at least 3 instances we've had horrible experiences. Once before we had to wait a couple of hours for service, and sometimes their staff has been extremely rude. Specifically, a female waitress. They had hired a really good staff recently, and we're so amazed with the change that the restaurant had, but we didn't see them tonight. It was very disappointing. We live in Playacar and we have to say, that we will not be returning here. It is just so conveniently located.
