It is a small simple appearing place in the little market place within the resort, a few tables inside, a few tables outside. The food though, is remarkable. We happened upon it 4 years ago, and have been thinking about it since. It is probably the main reason we return here again. We love all the cold dishes, and come here for lunch for two days.

We ate here 3x while visiting Mayakoba and it was easily the best meal we had the entire trip! Highly recommend the juices (lemon and strawberry lemonade were our favorites) and ceviche. The service was also excellent and the air conditioning was perfect on a hot day.

The tuna tostada was the best thing I’ve eaten in a while and a generous portion. Only a few tables inside and some outside. Slow service but finding that to be par for the course on this vacation. Loved my spicy margarita too.

Everything was great. Probably best food we had on our trip. One thing to note, the pin location in google maps is not accurate at all. This is part of Rosewood not Banyan Tree. You’ll need to call a shuttle at the lobby to get there.

Fabulous tostadas and great drinks! Absolutely worth a cycle ride from the Rosewood or any of the Mayakoba resort hotels. The ceviche mixto tostada was amongst the best we’ve ever eaten and the spicy margarita was excellent. If you save room for dessert, the orange caramel flan will not disappoint, it’s just fabulous (and enough for 2).

I just walked in to check it out and they were so friendly that I couldn’t leave. So I sat down and looked at the menu and it looked amazing. I ordered a seafood tostada and a Mezcal margarita, and both blew me away. This might be the best small meal I’ve had in Mexico, which is crazy because I’ve had a lot of good food. I was so happy to find this place. I definitely recommend it to others. Bought some of their hot sauce to take home as well.

This place was so fun and the food is AWESOME! Now, they opened a half hour later than stated online. And we actually ran into a couple that said they tried seven different times to come and they were always closed haha! But alas it was open this time. All of the food was great and the drinks are fun. Definitely bike over if you’re staying in Mayakoba!! On any property!

La Fondita is a great spot for lunch if you’re staying in Mayakoba. They specialize in tostadas, and these tostadas are incredible. I recommend getting the beef tongue birria and chicken tinga tostadas. The seafood tostadas are great, as well. Two tostadas are enough for one person, since you also get a small soup, and chips + guac + beans + salsa along with your meal. Service is exceptional, like everything else at the Rosewood.

Avoid. DO NOT GO. We felt cheated. We felt tricked. AVOID THIS PLACE. 4 adults ate lunch. 140.00! This place is like a hole In the wall. sit in plastic like chairs, cheaply decorated and no real “extras”. 140.00 would have been fine if we were served our meal on a plate with sides but it was a serving like a fast food restaurant. I admit the food was good but for tostadas and a few beers the price was outrageous. We were actually stunned. Had no idea when we ordered that it was overpriced to this extent.
