Didn’t look how I expected so I was a little confused. Hole in the wall, serving clean homemade plates. I got house made fresh gorditas that really hit the spot before spending the day at the beach. Nice guys, perfect English.

The best breakfast in Playa hands down and the kid running the place is amazing. Everything is good but highly recommended the waffles which are their specialty, the chorizo gorditas and the fresh fruit bowl. You'll want to go back every morning like we did!

Best breakfast place and good on price too! We got the Poblanos Gordita and came back a second time and got the same cause it was soooo good! The iced teas are amazing too and the people who run the place are sweethearts! Highly recommend this small little cafe!

The tangy homemade waffle is delicious! The dough is so different from any other waffle, a cheese like taste that surprises your taste buds. Try one part just with the maple syrup and you'll see what I'm talking about. The combination with the spinach,eggs and the sauce is great (it's slightly spicy and perfect). The attention was great, Angel gave great service. The food was fast and the ambience is very cozy, with aircon inside and if you'd like people watch you can sit outside (no aircon on that part of course, just beach like weather) . I totally recommend it. Can't wait to try the other dishes.

Absolutely loved Madrez Cafe in PDC! At first glance, this place might not catch your eye—it’s got that unassuming, low-key look that could make you question if you’re in the right spot. But let me tell you, if you’re skipping out based on appearances, you’re seriously missing out. I was in town for dental work, so my eating options were limited, but I made it a point to hit Madrez Cafe twice in one week, and both visits were worth it! The iced caramel lattes hit the spot on a hot afternoon. They were strong but smooth, perfectly balanced, and totally refreshing. Then there’s the sourdough waffles 🤤🤤 I chose the fresh fruit option that included apples, pears, apricots(?), and a few berries, along with a good helping of sweet yogurt, and that tangy sourdough base was DELICIOUS. It’s easily one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in PDC—both appetizing and light enough to enjoy even with a sore/numb mouth. On top of that, the staff are phenomenal. Service was quick, and our server was a total standout—handsome, friendly, and genuinely easy to chat with as his English was better than most Americans. They take American Cash & Card, along with the Mexican Peso. Whether you’re just passing through or here for an extended stay, Madrez Cafe is a hidden gem you won’t want to miss! 10/10 Recommend!

We tried the fried egg skillet and savory waffle. The skillet had great flavor with a small kick of heat. The savory waffles are made from a yeast dough mix so the flavor is more savory. The waffle combined with the eggs, bacon, cheese, and syrup was great. I'd recommend trying both dishes. The orange juice is freshly squeezed and very tangy.

One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in Mexico. Homely, nothing fancy, just good food. Cappuccino was excellent. We did wait 20 mins however that’s quite standard in Mexico. Will likely come back tomorrow.

I’m an old man and I don’t like getting hustled. Full stop. Fifth Avenue is fun, but would not have been my first stop for a heart felt vacation, I came here for the world class dental work so it hasn’t been the easiest trip. Lots of ups and downs… and that brings me to Madrez Cafe for breakfast. After running the cacophonous gauntlet of Fifth Ave where everyone claims to recognize you or wants to sell you cigars, or tequila, or tattoos, or “something different” it’s a relief to find one of those special just off the beaten path places that are steeped in authenticity and drizzled with maple syrup. They take pride in a simple well prepared menu and were genuinely welcoming and helpful. Great iced chocolate, best we’ve had so far! Absolutely great sourdough waffles with perfect maple syrup. You could sneeze and miss Madrez. It small and unassuming, but you’d be missing a small haven from the Avenue storm of hustlers and hawkers. Like stepping out of a hurricane into a safe cave and suddenly you’re safe.

Un lugar pequeño pero con potencial. Encontrarás comida rica, bien presentada y con un toque casero. Ideal para desayunar a unos cuantos pasos de la playa! El menú es pequeño y se basa en huevos, waffles, burritos, bagle y gorditas. El costo es promedio si se concidera que el establecimiento es cercano a la 5 av y la playa.

Muy rico pero alguna porción algo chica y no muy cómodo con niños chicos.

La comida tiene buena proporción, creo que los precios son elevados para el tamaño de los platillos. La atención fue buena, el lugar es pequeño como para 15 personas. Creo que se deben mejorar los sabores, mi waffle estaba muy rico pero el queso sabía un poco rancio y se agradece mucho el que la fruta sea fresca. A mi parecer si hay lugares con mejores menús pero si vas de paso y llevas prisa es un lugar pasable para desayunar.

Delicioso. Pedimos los Waffles crujientes y esponjosos a la vez, las gorditas y un bagle. Todo muy bueno y a buen precio. Es un local pequeño y solo aceptan pago en efectivo y tienes que usar el baño del local de al lado, pero aún así es fantástico.

We stopped by this place for brunch one morning while in Playa del Carmen. The staff was absolutely amazing and the food was great. Here, you'll find a nice selection of breakfast favorites like sandwiches on bread, bagels, and English muffins.

Precios accesibles y llenador. En su mayoría son waffles pero son algo salados y agrios, no recomendable si te gusta lo dulce, el sabor es algo internacional así que tampoco es recomendable para el mexicano. De allí en más está bien. Media de precios... Comida: 100$ Bebida: 35$

Un lugar tranquilo para desayunar, con buena relación precio-calidad. El lugar no es muy grande sin embargo se compensa con el sabor de su comida, lo que si sugeriría sería mayor atención al trato del cliente.

Waffles, bagels y huevos. Quería algo dulce y sólo estaba esta, el resto es salado; carne, chorizo, queso. En un desayuno vas rascando los $150 pesos. Suficientemente bueno. Nada excepcional.

Es el clásico lugar pensado para extranjeros, waffles buenos pero nada excepcional. Todo el menú tiene huevo por si no te gusta aquí no hay opciones que no lo tengan. No hay nada especial en el sazón es como si tú solito te hicieras huevos en tu casa pero más caro. No hay decoración o algo especial o característico en el lugar. Me sorprendio que estuviera tan bien calificado.

Se pusieron a asar chile en medio de mi desayuno, el clima casi no se sentía, los precios no son baratos, tampoco caros, pero el lugar no es el mejor

I was told by some friends to try Madrez. I arrived early at opening time only to be told by a nearby business that they were out of business. I came back 30 minutes later and Rosa was starting to open, telling me she’d be ready in another 30 minutes. I waited. I was under impressed with the espresso, which tasted rancid and bitter. I ordered the waffle with fresh fruit and yogurt. Sadly, some of the fruit was clearly left over from the previous day/s and not tasty. I’m also not a fan of non crispy waffles and I found the tangy sour taste not to my liking. Just a personal preference. Perhaps something else on the menu would have been a better choice for me. Not impressed.

Food was ok, small portion for the price. The savory waffles was good but very little avocado and spinach. The place smelled strongly of cinnamon, maybe an incense which is pleasant but can bother some people who are intolerant to strong smells. The unfortunate part comes in for the waitress. With an attitude from the start, no smile, she brought drinks only to one person, we were 2. She forgot and when I remarked it she did not apologise but found an excuse, the drink missing was just laying on the counter. Portions are small compared to the rest of the city and pricy for value. 140 pesos for eggs. Don't order espresso coffee if you want that. They have a coffee machine but it tasted like instant coffee and was very diluted. When I asked the not nice waitress she just replied this was espresso and I was still talking to her and she started ignoring me ebeb when I told her I was still talking to her, the manager noticed her bad attitude and came to see what happened at least. Still they made us pay that coffee, the worst in town. Such a pity, first disappointment in pdc. The service has been great elsewhere. All waitress and waiters were a charm

La comida es d muy mala calidad el jugo era natural pero hecho con naranjas viejas ,los frijoles secos y rancios los huevos salados , tardan mucho en servir.

NO hagan caso de las recomendaciones que dicen que es un lugar barato y bueno. El lugar es MUY pequeño y tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo a ser asignados a una mesa, una vez dentro el mesero nos atendió de mala gana y la comida tardó mucho en llegar, al momento de llegar los alimentos, yo pedí un waffle bastante malo y pequeño, creo que en el Oxxo hay mejor comida. El precio elevado, conclusión NO VAYAN hay mil otras mejores opciones.

Pedí los chilaquiles de chorizo con salsa de chile guajilloy chipotle, me los trajeron con salsa verde, se lo comenté a la mesera y me dijo que todos los chilaquiles salieron con salsa verde, ni siquiera se lo comento a la cocina de la equivocación. Deberían avisarte antes de ordenar si van hacer cambios en el menú.

Pedimos un bowl d frutas con yogur y granola, llevaba básicamente manzana y una cucharada de yogur Se lo dijimos a la camarera que hizo caso omiso. Relación calidad precio 0 Malo,caro,mala servido,mal atendido

Si eres de las personas que le encanta explorar lugares nuevos para pobrar un rico desayuno pero a la vez te preocupa pagar algo caro y que te lleves una mala experiencia… Este es el lugar indicado para ahorrar tu dinero.😅 Pedi huevos fritos con frijoles, aguacate y tocino. Los huevos salados , los frijoles la mitad crudo y sin sabor , la presentación súper triste cero antojable , desde que te lo llevan a la mesa se presiente el mal sabor… Al menos ya se donde nunca más regresar… Realmente como su nombre lo dice les vale “Madrez” la calidad y el servicio.

Este lugar cuando abrió era un gran lugar, y sus waffles tenían un gran sabor, era pequeño pero encantador. Hoy regresamos y ya no conserva nada de eso, mal sabor, mala atención, lento, el lugar es una bodega sin estilo. Crecer en tamaño no siempre trae mejores resultados. No lo recomiendo nada!

We had a bagel and a waffle here, but unfortunately both were disappointing. The waffle was extremely salty and bitter instead of sweet, and it was quite hard..almost burnt. The fruit on top wasn’t very fresh either. The bagel felt very heavy, and after a few bites we just couldn’t keep eating. Wouldn’t recommend it based on our experience.
