We ate here twice and both times we loved our food. The first time, my husband had the stuffed poblano pepper, and I had one of their specialty meals which was grilled chicken. The second time, we both had the stuff poblano pepper. The poblano pepper was one of our favorite meals.
Don’t mind the breeze ~ the food and staff are fantastic! Evan was a gracious host and great bartender! Great prices for delicious food! Definitely on our “must do” list now.
Wow, what a hidden gem. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was exceptional. We are staying at Playa Norte, and this was like we were on a completely different island!!
Service, food, and atmosphere were great. They also had a singer when we went. Great views of the ocean. Bring a jacket as it can be colder here on windy days.
Best fish tacos we tried on the island. Loved the melted cheese with chorizo as well. Make sure to go upstairs for the ocean views.
I’ve lived on this street for 15 years and seen the vibe of the island change over time. This place is a bit of old Isla. Delicious local flavors, reasonable prices, attentive service. It’s a historic home that was recently converted to a restaurant and they have done a nice job honoring the previous homeowners. The name is a tribute to Don Daniel Marfil, the former owner, who had always wanted to open a restaurant in the space but unfortunately passed before his dream came true. I had the most delicious breakfast here this morning and wish the current owners the very best.
Great restaurant. Large portions, great prices, beautiful location, great waiters, food was excellent, long happy hour. We will eat here again and recommend to friends. Do not believe any bad reviews. This is a 5 star for sure. Authentic Mexican. Not a tourist trap.
We came here during a torrential rain one evening. The roof leaked and the floor was wet but frankly it only added to the charm of a quiet night with good food. The staff were accomodating and efficient. The prices were reasonable - skirt steak, coconut shrimp, two margaritas and one beer for $750.00 pesos. Portions were generous.
Good service, all the dishes we ordered were very delicious and there was a nice duo playing guitar and bongos and singing chill songs. Reasonable pricing, an extensive drink selection We had the Isla Mujeres cocktail, garlic shrimp, tixnchic fish, and bananas foster for dessert Cool setting right on the malecon. The decor is very colourful and big open wooden doors welcome you in
Great ambience, Service and food. Our food took longer than expected, the waiter kept checking on us, apologizing and keeping us posted. We ordered a grilled chicken dish, mahi mahi fish and shrimp. They were all tasty. They were also pretty accommodating with my husband’s request to change a few items in his plate. We went on a night that they were having some Mexican dancers and what a great surprise!
10/10! Very good service, extremely friendly, great authentic mexican food, overall awesome!
Best ceviche I’ve ever had. All dishes and cocktails I’ve tried are amazing. Enrique and family give the best service in a beautiful location. We’ve been back 3 times in 10 days. Don’t miss it.
What a wonderful place to spend our last night on Isla! Love this area of town that is close to a lot but not so hectic, and they are located right on the sea! They were celebrating their 1 year anniversary and had a mariachi band and lovely solo performer as well. There is both a downstairs and upstairs and they were able to squeeze us in upstairs despite being very busy. We enjoyed the Tikin Xic made with local fish rubbed with tangy achiote marinade and served with veggies and rice, and of course some cold cervezas and well-priced tequila from their expansive list, and the breeze from the sea and sound of the waves on the rocks. I wish them much success and the dinner and time we spent there is a memory I will treasure. Muchas gracias to all the staff of Suenos de Marfil and we hope you have many more wonderful years.
Absolutely wonderful place - we sat upstairs and had a stunning view, the food was delicious and very reasonable, and the drinks were wonderful too. The staff and bartender are lovely, too!
Best restaurant on the island. Old school professional service, every dish top notch, views and sounds right over the crashing waves can’t be duplicated anywhere else.
Excellent food, a really lovely spot and impeccable service. We had a lovely evening here. We stopped in the daytime to book a seaview table and were not disappointed. We recommend!
So great we went twice during our 6 night visit to Isla Mujeres. The view on the upper deck is one of the best, especially during dinner/drinks. Food - fantastic - ceviche here was some of the best we had across the island. Service - fantastic - Armean (sorry on spelling) was our server both times and was so friendly and helpful. Thank you! We look forward to returning again, thank you!
What a tucked away gem! You will not find a better oceanside dining experience. The waves crashing on the rocks below and the warm ocean breezes blowing through the upstairs patio made for a magical night. Oh, and the food! The preparation, presentation and flavor were exceptional! The brothers cooking and serving were delightful. Don’t miss this treasure.
We were looking for dinner for a large group of 11 and stumbled upon Sueño de Marfil and we are so glad we did. Sit on the upper desk and you’ll have the most amazing view. We had Mahi Mahi Ceviche which was fabulous and the Chile en Nogada was divine. Others ordered lobster and Shrimp in mole and everyone had the best meal of our trip.
Upper deck has an outstanding view. Service is friendly. Tasty Tortillas Soup & Line Soup
We had walked past this restaurant about a million times, always saying we need to try it. We finally stopped in randomly yesterday and have to now say, we’ve been missing out! Great location, our host/server was extremely pleasant and welcoming. Very extensive menu and the atmosphere is lovely. We had the fish tacos which were some of the best I’ve had. I am a grilled gal, not fried so they were perfect. We even had desert (which we rarely do) Loved it, going back to try their breakfast tomorrow!
Everything we ordered was amazing! We ate way more than we should have it was too good not to finish.
We liked this restaurant so much we ate here twice during our week stay! We had a large group with kids and everyone was so accommodating. We had steak tacos, ceviche, quesadillas and everything was amazing. The prices were reasonable and the views from the top seating area were amazing!
We ate at Sueno de Marfil while staying on Isla. The food, staff, and service was impeccable! We were also entertained by amazing Mexican Dancers! We will be back for dinner before returning home. Thank you Enrique for the sensational food, atmosphere, and the best wait staff! We wish you all the best!
The vibes cannot be beat- away from the nightmare of the main drag, the charm, atmosphere and service are top notch. Fish tacos were overly salted/spiced but I didn’t care!
Recomendable!
Buena comida, buen servicio y buen trato.
Excelente vista
Loved this place! It has amazing ocean views from the upstairs dining area, delicious cocktails and a good range of affordable snacks to more expensive plates such as Tikin Xiik. I wanted to eat on a budget on this particular day, so I ordered the chicken chalupas which were 110 pesos. It was the perfect lunch serving for just me. I would return simply for the incredible atmosphere, but the servers were kind and the food great too.
12/302025 Out and about and saw this place, so we gave it a try without reading reviews which is a first. 😱 So we had to order the mole ($300 mx/ $15 US) because it’s my favorite. We also ordered the chili relleno nogada ($290/ $14US). Let me tell you, I have never had a chile rellenos that 👅 tasted like this one. This was a whole new experience for me. It was creamy, spicy, and unique. The chili was stuffed with picadillo which is ground season beef and the creamy sauce had walnuts. It is definitely a must try if you are out this way. Our total bill was $670mx/ $35 US, which included a soda and water. Round 2 12/31/2025 Had to come back for another nogada chiles rellenos and we tried the mariscada (seafood platter)for 2 $900 mx/ $45 US. Both were 😋 😋😋. The seafood platter had fish fillets- two different ways, shrimp, octopus, calamari, rice, veggies, and baked potato. Total bill $1250 mx/ $68 US which included a soda. This is one of the best places to stop by during the day since the view is the open sea.
Absolutely delicious and authentic family owned restaurant! The fish tacos, guacamole and ceviche were to die for. Definitely will be going back before we head home.
Lovely view of the water. Really attentive, nice service. Ceviche was “the best” according to hubby. Would definitely come back again.
We went twice during our stay on the island, and we found the staff very welcoming, the food delicious, and the ambience unparalleled. As we entered each time, the wait staff greeted us and welcomed us. We sat "up top" with an amazing view of the Caribbean Sea and in the delightful breezes that come off the sea. We weren't pressured to hurry--we began in the evening with just drinks and then had the most amazing nachos we've ever experienced (and we've experienced a LOT!). This is definitely my favorite evening place on the island so far, and I'll return again when we come back to Isla Mujeres.
With about 100 years of ceviche experience at the table, it was unanimous that we had the best cheviche ever. The flavors, texture and consistency were stunning. Buttery smooth and fresh fish flavors stood out. I've got a lot of reviews on this island, this place stands alone with it's cheviche mixto dish. Menu on the whole is great, the mole is also a great dish to try. Their fish of the day is fresh and delicious, excellent care in cooking. Highly recommended.
Our favourite part of visiting the island was the lunch we had at this restaurant. The food was incredible. Large portions with amazing flavours. Prices were very reasonable and staff was friendly and professional. The decor and ocean view added to the vibe and if we were to return to the island again it would be for this meal.
What an experience! We stumbled upon this great restaurant by accident as they don’t have much signage up yet. They’d only been open about 3 weeks and still seem to be building some of it out. First off, the ambiance is amazing. It’s right on the water overlooking the ocean, and so it has amazing views but also is one of the few restaurants that gets a decent breeze. They did an incredible job decorating too! We ended sitting up on the roof deck (still a work in progress but already looks great). Martin, our server, was INCREDIBLE. Not only did he hustle like crazy up and down the stairs to bring us multiple rounds of drinks (and some free delicious margarita shots) and our food, but his passion for the restaurant was so clear! He chatted with us for a bit at the end of the meal as well and it was so great to learn about the history behind the restaurant, its name, and the building it’s in (they really should put that on the menu!). The drinks were also super tasty and they had some unique and interesting margarita flavors too - and the size of the drinks were HUGE! The dinner was delicious as well. It isn’t the biggest menu, but still has good variety. Portion sizes were solid. It also is one of the better priced places we’ve eaten at on the island! So if you’re looking for authentic Mexican food and atmosphere with charm at a good price this is your place. It’s off the beaten path (only a couple minutes walk from Playa Norte’s main strip of restaurants) so it’s not as touristy as a lot of other spots, and it’s right next door to Tiny Gecko - a great bar with good drinks for super cheap. So you can have a full night out right over there and get away from the main strip for a night. Highly recommend!

Absolutely stunning view and not very busy place just because it is on the other side of the island from where you land. Grilled octopus was a bit overcooked.
I came here based on the good reviews. I ordered the chicken mole—it wasn’t bad, but very average and clearly underseasoned. Nothing memorable. The mojito was served in a tall, narrow glass filled mostly with ice, which felt disappointing for the price. What really stood out was the checkout experience. The owner mentioned that the price did not include service or tip, which felt inappropriate. Tipping should always be optional, and considering the high prices relative to the food and drink quality, the place already felt overpriced. Overall, the experience didn’t match the ratings. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.
Tourist trap. I've been living on this island for almost 6 months now, and can confidently say this is the worst food I've tried here, especially when you factor in the prices. We tried more than half the menu, as it only has like 6 total positions, and everything was bad. Meat overcooked and dry (was ordered meadium-rare, came well-done), fish dry and bland, chicken dry and bland. No signature Mexican flavors, no spice, no spark, just boring, dry, overpriced food. Cocktails were terrible as well. But the view's very nice, so there's that.
The restroom was extremely dirty, and the paper towels you’re supposed to dry your hands with were black. I don’t even know what kind of filth was on them, but it was honestly disgusting. The food was also brought very late, and the quality was very poor. If cleanliness matters to you, do not come here.
We were at this wonderful place today, had nice cocktails and a good meal and usually I would give this location 5 stars, BUT ... when we asked for the bill our waiter started to argue about his tip. He first told us that the normal tip at the Restaurant is 10%, then later he changed to 15% to 30% and waited persistantly in front of our table to pay him more. As an extra, he converted our tip from pesos into dollars thereby illustrating the worth of the guests at his table. This restaurant has good food and good drinks, but it should change its waiter. This is not the way to treat your guests even if they are tourists and you expect them to visit the location only once. I would not visit this restaurant again.
