It’s busy. Food is great. Spring mushroom risotto and clam chowder was really good.
The food, the service, the prices, everything is amazing 👏 wouldn't recommend it enough. I got the eggs Benedict and the Bloody Mary. By the end of it, I was so full I only finished one Benedict and my potatoes. Amazing serving sizes and even my Bloody Mary was so big I couldn't finish it. Definitely would be visiting again. 🥰
Best meal we've had in a while! Service was fast, friendly, and our waitress was amazing! Every dish and drink was perfect! They have amazing specialty drinks and every dish was spot on! I got the green curry muscles my wife got the steak!
Mussels were fantastic - probably can't go wrong (maybe unless vegan as veggie burger contains cheese), server was very thoughtful & personable. Indoor seating only - no patio / no seating that allows dogs (maps assistant was confused about this at time of writing)
This place has one of the top 5 best Reuben sandwiches I've ever had, and they have Pliney the Elder on Tap (rated #2 in the world), and they have 2 different bottles of Balvenie Scotch as well! . I take friends from out of town up to Tamales Bay for oysters and then across to the Lagunitas Brewery, making a day of it. This will DEFINITELY be one of the pit stops from now on!
We stopped here on a drive from San Francisco to Fort Bragg. Definitely worth it! There's an outdoor seating area, but we ate inside due to a chilly breeze; however, with the front a back doors open, the inside felt a little like the outdoors (in a good way, except for the little bird who got in and wouldn't leave!). Parking is tricky on the narrow, small town street. I had the Mac and cheese, which was delicious, though the cheese was not as sharp as what I'd eat back home in Wisconsin. My friend had got a reuben (one of his favorites) after consulting our server because he couldnt decide. The server said many folks had declared it one of the best they'd ever had. My friend agreed!
Nice place in Pt. Reyes. We made a reservation on a Saturday night and had good food (Polenta & veggies, Burger, Bread Plate). The seating isn't amazing but the food and service were great.
Station House Cafe provided a delightful lunch experience. The fresh west coast oysters were a highlight, and the freshness of the salad was remarkable. Both our burger and sandwich were delicious and well-prepared. It's a great place to refuel and enjoy a quality meal. Has a laid back feel great for a relaxing stop! Staff was friendly and knowledgeable.
Variety of delicious menu items - stay for dessert! Cordial hostess. Server was attentive, professional, and efficient. Great location for walking around downtown Pt Reyes.
I ate at this restaurant twice and I ordered the clam linguine for both times. I was so impressed with how fresh clams they use! The clam meat was very big and the pasta had such an amazing flavor. The fresh oysters were super fresh as well. I wish this restaurant was in San Francisco. I can't wait to go back soon!
Great service and food choices. I decided on the philly steak, which surprised me because it was pieces of steak and not the thin slices you usually get on philly steaks and tasted delicious. It came with some chips that were also good and paired great with my Manhattan. My wife got the cob salad and a honey lavender sour. We both ended with the de creme i believe it was, with a nice creamy lemon flavor. Since it was a beautiful day we ate outside with our dog and only waited about 20 minutes to be seated which was nice considering how busy they were.
This stop is always a must! Consistency is key! This place easily fills the belly, sparkles through presentation and warms the heart! We have had almost everything on the menu and hands down I love their chili and my daughter always gets the burger and naturally i always steal a few fries....my husband goes for the daily special! However, my last stop this week was early afternoon before we went to the actual light house- I went in for an oatmeal cappuccino and guys✨✨✨ they of course rocked it! It's hard to get a good oatmeal cappuccino as most of the time the coffee is too light or not enough oat milk is poured but guys this place has it down pat!!!🤯 Come for the coffee see their art pieces, stay for the divine food and friendly atmosphere!
My husband and I went there for dinner last night. The food was out of this world delicious! For appetizers, we had a bowl of clam chowder and an order of garlic bread that we shared. For dinner, my husband ordered the pork chop and I had the linguine and clams. SO DELICIOUS! The pork chop was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the flavors were incredible. My linguine dish was so tasty too. The atmosphere and the service were top rate as well! We will be coming back here next time we're in the area.
Beautiful patio! Delicious non-alcoholic beverages, including bar-made drinks like ginger-tumeric lime soda, and grapefruit soda. Delicious food sourced from local farms and food producers. My burger was delicious, with thoughtful preparation (pickled red onions instead of raw, citrus aioli instead of mayo). My friends really enjoyed their veggie burger and avocado toast with smoked salmon. Not my first time and Station House and won't be my last!
Am a returning customer, absolutely love the food here. They have a great blue cheese burger! Fries were a little more done than I would have liked but still great, and a huge amount. Staff is always kind. Music is pretty loud I get that most places do that but not my preference either. Love this place and will definitely be returning next time I go hiking on the Point Reyes seashore.
We came in about an hour before closing and the place was packed! We ended up sitting at the bar and ordering drinks and food. We met Robert who is an amazing bartender but also he has the best sparkling personality and customer service skills! We love the food, so amazing! The drinks were on point and the staff were a joy to be around. Love the vibe here also!
First, the servers were kind and just the right amount of attentive. The food is amazing! The fried clams were the freshest I'd ever eaten. Makes sense with the location 🙂 The salad, the burger, everything is top notch and VERY FRESH. And this point can't be made enough with the state of other restaurants lately. The only critique I have are the drinks. 1) This is just my preference, but there isn't one dark/red/brown beer on the menu. They could keep a case of bottles of something for the occasional person who would like one. 2) My wife ordered the aperol spritz... The flavor profile was good, but it tasted like they skimped on the alcohol. Overall, we'll definitely go back.
Normally, $14 is a lot to ask of me for lunch, especially for a sandwich, but the service was friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. Of course, prices aren't terribly competitive in a small, tourist town, but then that shouldn't be a surprise for anyone should it. Also, the food was rich enough that $14 doesn't seem so bad after all.
The absolute best veggie burger ever! Unique ingredients that held together like a burger should. Yummy popovers to start is a great option too.
What a GREAT restaurant! I went on a Saturday late morning for breakfast, the wait was short 5minutes 10 tops! But boy was my food delicious! I ordered a soy caramel macchiato, it came in an espresso size cup and was way too strong for me! lol i Loved the fact that they had Almond and Soy Milk to choose from and sugar in the raw! The potatos all had a perfectly golden outter crisp and tender inside, So so very good! My poached eggs were perfectly cooked as well! The cook knows what he's doing that for sure! The corn muffin is a must! AA++ I highly recommend this place for breakfast! I can only imagine what dinner must taste like! Luv Luv
We were visiting point Reyes and this was one place which was open until 9pm and we stumbled here and I’m so glad we did. The food here is so amazing that I specially had to go again for the food. Pick anything from the menu and you will love it. We tried oysters, half raw half grilled, linguini and clams, steamed mussels in coconut gravy, garlic bread and halibut! All of these were simply delish! Would love to visit again
Looks like a diner on the outside, but the food tastes like a gourmet restaurant. Started with a half dozen Tomales Bay oysters. They have the option for raw or baked with garlic butter. I chose the latter, but I think raw was probably better. Had to try the pop-overs since they have a big photo of them as you enter. Pretty good with the tasty, natural butter they came with. Beet salad didn't look like it had beets at first, but they were on the bottom. The green goddess dressing and crumbled feta cheese made this a tasty treat. The we had mussels in coconut broth and the pork chop with buttery, garlic polenta and swiss chard. All of this was super delicious. Our food took quite a long time to arrive, but once it did, the taste made our cares melt away.
Station House Cafe wowed us! Despite being absolutely slammed when we arrived (since all other restaurants in the area were closing), when the food came it was delicious. A long but worthwhile wait! Thank you to Robert at the bar for the great show and taking care of us. Recommended items are the burger + mixed salad, clam chowder, and clam & linguine.
We were delighted to find a restaurant with modern decor and spacious ceiling height. We both wanted the Seared Steelhead, but they only have one order left. I questioned why they ran out of Steelhead before seven o'clock when people were still coming in after us, it appears that because the cafe is closed on Wednesdays (the next day), they didn't keep enough stock. So, I broke my gluten-free diet and opted for Linquini & Clams without garlic butter. Both dishes were well made, well plated and very enjoyable. To finish, my partner ordered Apple of Your Eye for desert.
So excited this spot re-opened across the street! Great food and ambiance, as usual. Decor of the new space is great; nice noise-dampening felt panels that fit into the vibe well. Not pictured was the hangtown fry, which had both bacon and fried oysters. The drink selection is also great, from standard sodas (hi Diet Coke) to a great wine selection to house-made non alcoholic elixirs with fresh herbs.
So good! Went with three other people and got to try a lot of good food. Flank steak salad, Station House burger, house salad, soup of the day? Was tomato basil, Mac and Cheese, bread and butter, and tomato bruschetta. All of them were really good. The tomato bruschetta was a little small on the bread side to share so I broke up my piece of the bread and butter and used it to eat the rest of the tomato's. The staff was friendly and efficient.
Very lovely outdoor garden area full of shade umbrellas and sweet birds. Food was surprisingly tasty. Friendly service, fast wait. Well behaved dogs are welcomed. Well made fried oysters, popovers. Their grits and greens and Ruben sandwich weren't bad either. Very reasonably priced. Good selection of wine and house made (non) alcoholic drinks. Would definitely recommend when in Point Reyes Station, and would consider going back.
We had a great dining experience at Station House Cafe. Our servers were very pleasant (one was in training), the food was quite quick to be brought out and it was delicious. Great atmosphere. The menu was just one page but everyone can find something they like. I'd recommend to anyone needing a delicious brunch or lunch.
A very cozy but not quite hole in the wall restaurant that specializes in sourcing food locally. I had the steelhead which was scrumptious and paired well with the mushrooms. Parking is a bit of a hassle, you might have to walk from the other side of town to get here on a busy night. The ambience was subdued but cheerful.
One of the few places open for dinner, and it's quite homey inside. It was getting late so we were struggling to find some local food after our backpacking trip. The Station House Cafe burger was juicy and savory and the mushroom risotto just hit the spot. A bit pricey for what you get, but I'd definitely recommend it.
I really enjoyed the fried oysters here. We also had popovers, the beet salad and the linguini, which were light and delicious. My only issue was that they kinda skimped on the fish in the Rock Cod Sandwich, but it tasted great as well. The staff seemed a little overwhelmed on the day we came, but it was busy and they were learning a new Point of Sale system, so I'm not too beat up about that. Overall, it was a nice experience in a beautiful little town.
Fantastic lunch on a sunny Monday afternoon. We sat outside in the lovely garden. Oysters on the half shell were awesome (so fresh!). I had the halibut fish and chips. Halibut was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. GF had the linguine clams which she really liked. Our server Karen was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Excellent service overall, without any of the delays or missteps mentioned in earlier reviews. Meal was not cheap but we really enjoyed it and look forward to returning soon.
Elevated decor (= fancy!) in a laid back town - but it is still a great spot for long lunch after a hike. Oysters were a big hit. Nice selection of interesting brunch menu items that use local ingredients. Large portions.
If you’re looking for a place to eat in Point Reyes, look no further! We spent the weekend on the coast and ended up eating here all three nights because we enjoyed it so much! The Mary’s chicken was to die for, there was a special of braised beef that was so delicious and cozy, and the pork chop was so tender and tasty! We’re planning on coming back next time we’re in the area!
While visiting Point Reyes we came across this cute breakfast place. There was only about a five minute wait on a Sunday morning at 11 AM. We were seated at a four top. The ambience in the restaurant is modern sophisticated. Our server suggested we get our order in quickly as a table of 12 was just seated. We were very glad of her recommendation and our food was delivered in about 15 minutes. Everything was very tasty. Service is great on ambiance was amazing I would definitely recommend coming here if you're in town.
Location of this restaurant is great. Very easy to find as it is on the main street of Point Reyes Station. We waited for 20 minutes to get our table. We ordered Garlic bread, veggie burger, clam chowder, beet salad, turkey sandwich. The garlic bread was fantastic and so was the turkey melt. Clam chowder was okay, not as creamy as Boudins of course. Beet salad was great. Veggie burger was disappointing. It was big but you had to pay extra $3 each for adding cheese , avocado etc. At least cheese should be included in a burger. The fries were excellent. Service was good. Our server was great. She apologized as our salad was missing walnuts and brought out some to munch on later. Overall, food was very pricey but good considering the location and very busy tourist spot. I will recommend this place.
Wow this place is phenomenal. Walked in without a reservation during busy Sunday lunch and got a table for two right away. Food and beverage couldn’t have been better. The polenta was the most delicious thing I’ve had recently. Loved the space. Very loud when it’s crowded. Great service.
Great food, beautiful ambiance, and good service. The cocktails were delicious as well. We Initially went on a Saturday night in the off season, and it was still super busy. Reservations are a good idea on Fridays or Saturdays. I had the skirt steak, which was superb. My husband had the roast chicken, which was juicy and flavorful.
The restaurant has just undergone a major renovation and everything was truly fabulous. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant and bar. The service was very good and the food fabulous! Hubby and I started with an appetizer of fried oysters with a cornmeal crust and were not disappointed. We then shared the fresh steelhead salmon and the pork chop. Both were cooked perfectly. There is a full bar and nice wine and beer selection as well. We plan on going back while we are here.
Obviously busy during Labor Day weekend, but was able to quickly sit in the bar. Had the turkey sandwich and watermelon shrub mocktail. Friendly and attentive service. Great place to have lunch.
The prices were quite high for this spot. The food was good: the chicken home style dish and the curry mussels. Wow. The curry mussels were absolutely incredible and very memorable. We'd come back if the prices weren't so high!
We stopped here with a group of 8 and we were seated immediately. We all ordered breakfast and all were very pleased. I personally had the Corned Beef and Hash. Has to be made in house as it was delicious. Home made juices, lemonade, and jelly’s. A must stop if you are passing threw town.
We enjoyed the food and drinks. This was our second visit to this restaurant. We had the Wagyu flank steak and the flank steak salad. Both were excellent. The old fashioned and margarita were wonderful. Seating is rather snug but sometimes fun when people seated nearby are friendly. I agree with one other review that mentioned the additional 5% fee in addition to menu price and tip. It is mentioned at the bottom of the menu. BUT I think most customers would prefer an adjustment in price. Do what you have to do to cover your costs. It feels deceptive as a customer.
We used to visit the previous location of the Station House Cafe in Point Reyes CA . This is our first time over to the new spot. It is very beautiful interior that you will enjoy. We enjoyed a breakfast there as they opened at 10am. We are happy that they have moved into a their new location. See you there.
We’ve eaten here many times over the years. However this last time the food seemed way better than it normally is! They have stepped up their game. They have a lovely outdoor patio too. For starters we got the buffalo cauliflower which are lightly breaded cauliflower chunks with a spicy sauce and a wonderful feta dip. DeLish! My hubby had the mussels with a green curry sauce and he said they were excellent. I’m not a mussel girl but I definitely took a few dips of the curry sauce and it was superb. I had the halibut fish and chips which came with a wonderful coleslaw with a bit of kale in it I believe. Not the usual vinegary watery mush. The fish was incredible - the batter was thin and super crispy golden brown, fish was done to perfection - the best fish and chips I’ve had! Apologies I would have taken better pictures (other than the one here which is just our doggy box to take home) but we were very hungry after a long hike and it was so good we couldn’t stop.
The oyster is good. Fries are extremely good! Burger’s patty is little bit under salt in my opinion but that’s okay. But Spaghetti has some issues. The white wine taste is overwhelming in a bad way. It feels like the Spaghetti is cooked and ready to served, and then someone added a couple teaspoons of white wine at the end. The bitterness is too strong. We asked someone from the restaurant about it to confirm whether this is intentional and they told us it shouldn’t be the case. They said they’ll passed the message and we hope they did.
Place has a nice atmosphere, hostess was very prompt on getting me seating. The waitress took a while to show up. Food overall wasn't bad. Omlett was excellent, toast was good potatoes seemed a bit big and hard (undercooked) and very oily. Coffee was good and the apricot jelly was excellent. Total bill $25.00 one person Omelette, coffee and side of toast.
I loved the Philly cheesesteak, the dessert and the lovely patio. So, why not 5 stars? Well I still don't understand how service could be so badly organized with so many people running around. It took forever to get a table (many were available but needed cleaning, it took like 15 minutes), to catch a server to order, to get our check... we almost missed the sunset at Point Reyes, which would have cost one less star.
I had one of their signature cocktails: violet chemistry. Also ordered a dozen oysters and the Caesar salad. Came in on a Monday evening. When I was seated I was the only one but gradually by the end of my meal the tables were almost all filled up. I enjoyed my cocktail and the oysters. The Caesar salad missed the mark for me but that could be a matter of person preference. I didn’t fully enjoy the dressing and found the lettuce to be a bit on the soft side. The chicken however was very moist. The croutons were very good. The servers were very friendly and accommodating. The only thing for me was that I was one of the few people in the restaurant but it took some time for my salad to come out.
Delicious oysters. The Waygu steak was too salty for our taste. Cesar was yummy.
Nice space with a little undercurrent of late-90s vibe. The drinks were both very good, Manhattan & Negroni, the polenta was tasty but man, the mushroom risotto was an absolute salt bomb. We couldn't finish it. Still, this restaurant was apparently the only thing in town that evening and it was worth it. Pricey, of course.
Solid restaurant in the heart of point Reyes. One of the closest spots to the lighthouse with oysters and fish and chips. The clam chowder was chock full of clams but slightly thin for my taste. Still good but not hearty. The bread rolls with maple butter were dense kinda biscuit like but good. The salmon croquettes were delish and perfectly balanced with fresh apples and tartar sauce. Kids chicken strips with fries was very generous. Beer battered fish n chips was crispy light and airy. For $25 pricy but solid. Fish tacos were crisp and light but a bit bland. I dunked them in the extra tartar sauce we had. Overall 3 - 4 stars and one of the few restaurants in the area opened late!
The mussels here are amazing and absolutely worth getting. Make sure you get an order of garlic bread too though, because the two little toasts that come with it aren't nearly enough to sop up the delicious broth. We also got popovers, which were pretty good, and the chard, which would have been better if destemmed so that the stems could be thrown in the pan first to get the extra cooking time they need, and cooked with garlic to give them more flavor. overall, it was a delicious meal!
Cute, creative coffee shop. Great names for their drinks, that fell short of their description. The banana coffee named so because a very small piece of banana was attached to the cup with a tooth pick. The squash coffee that tasted like a regular latte. No bathroom. Instructed to go to the Mexican restaurant next door, buy something and use theirs. The ambulance was unique, and worth experiencing with friends, at least once
Service and atmosphere were perfect. Food can be s little better. Fried oysters were great with tartar sauce! Recommend! Clam chowder does not cater to my taste. Somehow watery and almost no clams. The price was high based on the portion. I guess maybe i didn’t get the best experience because lunch menu is so limited. Dinner menu looks great!
Nice outdoor dining area and they take proper covid precautions. Main detractor was that the food was pretty bland. That's not a detractor for everyone but when I order chili I want some good smoky or spicy flavor. The cornbread was kind of flat, too. I'm sure the food works with someone's palate but it wasn't really my taste. If I went again, it would probably just be for cocktails in the Courtyard.
I booked this place for a birthday dinner for my mom's 73rd, and I told them that important detail over the phone when booking for our party. They were very kind and excited to book us. In my experience restaurants they will offer free dessert to special guest after we clear the bill. Mind you, the service wasn't the problem and the food was good, however when we got the bill we were charged for 2 chocolate desserts instead of one. I asked the waitress if they could take it off, because of my mom's birthday. She asked her management and they said that's "not something they do" I was surprised and insulted seeing how we spent $380+ including tip on this meal, and they couldnt take an $8 dessert off for a 73 year olds birthday, that's extremely weird and tacky. I complained to the host and again she gave a lackluster excuse, saying again that's not something that they do... I informed her that's extremely disappointing since I wasn't told that over the phone and it took a lot of savings to give my mom a special dinner. Because of this interaction and info, I will not be visiting anytime in the future.
Very disappointed. The trout salad was served with less than a tablespoon of bits of trout, although the Romain lettuce & arugula were fresh.
We enjoyed the food. The oysters we delicious. The shrimp cocktail wasn't cleaned properly and less than fresh. They were enormous though. It would have been nice to have a homemade cocktail sauce to go with it for the price instead of the bottled one. Overall the rest of the meal was delicious they used locally sourced good ingredients and we enjoyed the lemon pudding and the olive oil cake. Kind of shocked that we had to show our vaccine cards. The way they checked our vaccine records to our ID was ridiculous.
It was ok. The service was lousy in the beginning, but improved half way through our meal. There were plenty of open tables inside but we had to wait 15 minutes, and the host keep trying to get us to sit out on the patio. The wind that day was high. The corn beef plate was good, but certainly Not excellent. I would try a different place to relax, eat, and have better service.
It was ok. The salad was very good but small. They weren’t very forthcoming with replenishing my water. Also a 5% charge for ‘the staff’? - that’s just cheeky; it’s should be included in the price and if not, is that all they get?!? I didn’t have much though, so the other things on the menu could be great. But I wouldn’t rush back.
A very pretty restaurant with incredibly talented servers. The ambiance was a 10/10. I just wish the food matched the vibe. My Risotto was undercooked and kind of crunchy. The lettuce wrap appetizers were very bland, and I’m almost certain the bread pudding was microwaved; it came way too hot. I give the Mac and cheese croquettes and cocktails a 5/5. Absolutely delicious!
Newly renovated space with high ceilings and an appreciation for nature and the history of the locale. Looks like they were training new servers while we were there. They were all very friendly and responsive. The food fell below my expectations, though. The bread plate felt old. The Niçoise salad was very short on fish. The grilled asparagus was the best of all our choices, alongside the fresh oysters, of course.
Not a great selection of food. Server wouldn’t accommodate reasonable seating request and didn’t tell us till food was served that requested non dairy option was not dairy free. Never checked on us after food was served. Disappointed, won’t likely return.
Updated to reflect your response. Id rather you raise your prices than see an additional charge. Your establishment does not get to tell people 'its not a tip' when tips are discretionary and never mandatory. Tipping culture is out of hand. Seated right away. Very charming place. Food was very good. 3 star rating because I do not believe that your establishment should tell me that your surcharge for a living wage is not a tip. Servers in CA make at least minimum wage, while I agree its minimal, if they worked at Walmart, the would be paid the same and no surcharge back on the consumer.
Really bummed about this one. We heard such good things and this one fell flat. The restaurant is right on the main street of Point Reyes Station so a great hustling and bustling spot. The food is where things went downhill. We ordered the bread basket of only popovers and requested that they please be brought out hot; the waitress said will do. They were brought out shortly after and they were barely warm. We were all hungry, so we ate them, but it seemed very weird that asking for hot popovers was blatantly ignored/dismissed. The turkey chili came out and it was not even warm, and the cornbread was so incredibly dense. The shrimp lettuce wraps had limited flavor and were super small. The Caesar salad with chicken was substantial with a large piece of protein so highly recommend that. At the end of our meal when sharing with the waitress that the chili came out cold, she sort of mocked us when we mentioned she should share with the kitchen that the soup came out cold (in no restaurant do you serve chili cold). It was a weird meal and we were so looking forward to our meal only to be extremely disappointed.
If you enjoy an unwelcoming atmosphere and mediocre food - this is your place! Food very bland, complete lack of flavor with every dish + Manager & Owner both are very condescending and rude. This is not a family place - prepare to feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable if you have kids. The Italian place prior was much better - don’t waste your time with an abundance of great options in Point Reyes!
The bread is amazing and the rest of the food was real good. Service and atmosphere were excellent. The prices were fair for the region.* * I gave one star because of the goofy employee service surcharge. They add five percent to the bill in addition to the menu prices because they have to pay their employees? I feel like every other restaurant pays their employees without adding a surcharge on top of the menu prices. It's weird and a little deceptive. The menu clearly says there's a charge at the bottom but why not just increase your menu prices by five percent instead of adding a percentage fee to the bill with a weird disclaimer on the menu. It says it's not a tip but then it makes you wonder what the tip is for. It's just weird and restaurants need to quit doing this in my humble opinion.
