Best food we had in Port A! Had crab dip for starter then we got shrimp and grits and redfish, all were top notch. Highly recommend and would come back.
This is a restaurant. We enjoyed brunch twice on Sunday. Excellent !!! I especially liked the Port A Benny. My husband loved the shrimp & grits, quite unique & very flavorful. Atmosphere & service are excellent. We also had dinner with friends on the front patio & had the perfect view of the Mardi Gras parade.
Dayana was the hostess. She answered the phone when I called. We had a slight mix-up with the order. They QUICKLY corrected the mistake, no questions asked, and Dayana was sincerely apologetic, even though the mix-up wasn’t her fault. It was busy there, and she didn’t hear me correctly on the phone. While waiting for them to correct my order, a handsome gentleman walked up and asked if Ivwas the person whose order was wrong, and he handed me a menu and said for me to pick out ANY dessert I wanted, ON THE HOUSE. I asked Dayana who he was, and she said he’s the head waiter, Ruben. I said “He’s not even involved in this. Oh my goodness.” She said “Yah! Lucky you!” So I picked the Chocolate Lava Cake, and it didn’t disappoint. AT ALL. The fact that Ruben bought my dessert, just to make me happy(er), was sweeter than the cake itself. That’s the difference between a good business and a GREAT business. I was already going to be returning because of Dayana. She’s a DOLL. Total sweetie pie. But Ruben set the deal in stone. Bravo to Tortuga’s! If I could make it 100 stars, I would. I can’t wait until Monday — cuz that Espresso Martini has MY name on it. THANKS, Tortuga’s!! (Dayana & Ruben deserve their flowers!!) 😘♥️🫶🏽
I always make this place a stop during my trips to Port A. The service has been friendly and the food is consistently delicious! The drink selection at the bar makes for a fun night! I love their salad choices when you need to feel bikini ready!
I ordered the Pear Salad (Amazing) the soup of the day (potato with goat cheese) and the crab cake. It was the best meal, but what made it memorable was our Server Roy! She has the best personality and anticipated every need.
Some of the absolute best seafood around. I had the shrimp/grits cakes, wife had the red fish w/ asparagus. Food came out fresh. Very tasty. Excellent service. Highly recommend.
We had tried a few other restaurants over the week in Port Aransas that we were hoping would have been better. Tortugas made up for it! Every we tried was delicious. Staff welcoming and attentive, indoor and outdoor seating clean and spacious. Highly recommend!
We researched this place and decided to celebrate a 75th birthday here. Food and service were great. My only disappointment was the lack of acknowledgement of the event by the staff. When I made the reservation online, I said it was for a 75th bday. I really wanted my husband to feel special by the employees, but you missed the opportunity. I didnt take pics of entrees shrimp & grits, and steak.
“One of the top meals I’ve ever had” words out of my husband’s mouth after finishing the lobster roll. Lunch and dinner menus are different so check it before going if you have your heart set on something. Staff is attentive, kind and welcoming. Brian was great. Stopping back by before leaving town.
My experience at Tortuga’s was the best ever!! We were a family of 4, first time eating here and the service and food definitely deserve 5 stars!!! Our waitress Kristina, that’s my girl right there, had the best customer service and she was so attentive to our needs!! All the employees were amazing!! The food was the bomb!!!! Everyone around the world, please come to Tortugas and try the shrimp and grits’s!! OMG! It is by far the best I’ve EVER had.
We spent 5 days in Port Aransas and this was our best meal. I had the red fish Pontchartrain and my husband had the crab stuffed red fish. Both were absolutely phenomenal. The side of asparagus was the BEST asparagus I've ever had. Which sounds like a weird kudos, but there it is. The mixed drink I had - Mermaid Juice - was THE BEST and MOST DELICOUS mixed drink everrrrr. I loved it! If you're in Port A, you must give this place a try! You will not be disappointed.
I am so glad I asked our hotel manager what was her favorite restaurant in town! Without hesitation she said “Tortuga’s”, so we drove there right away 😃 Luckily it was early and we were seated right away. Our server, Pete, was amazing. He suggested a few entrees describing the ingredients and cooking methods to perfection, like only a real foodie (or chef) can. We ordered the red fish topped with crab meat and the charbroiled corvina fish and both were delicious! This will be our favorite restaurant from now on every time we’ll get a chance to visit Port Aransas again.
We went here for lunch on a Saturday and it was outstanding! My wife got the redfish and I tried the lobster roll and both were amazing. Our kids enjoyed their food and I was quite impressed with the portion sizes all around, definitely two meals worth for our little. The service is quick and friendly and I appreciated the manager going around and lending a hand to the crew. I also really appreciated the little things this place does: the family bathroom was very thoughtful especially with kids, the place just looks great. This place was a perfect lunch spot to match this cozy beach trip.
Best meal in Port A! We celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here and the meal did not disappoint. I would highly recommend the lobster bisque, boudin balls, shrimp and scallops and shrimp and grits! Wash it down with a mermaid beverage and thank me later. Enjoy!!
I heard someone talking about it as I was checking into my hotel. Was a great recommendation! We came early but when we left there was a 2 hour wait for seating so a reservation is a must. The butter clams were amazing, light and savory. The queso crab dip was also a nice appetizer. We also got the texas fried platter and the oysters and shrimp did not disappoint! The oysters were pretty big and the shrimp had the gulf flavor I enjoy and rarely get. Shrimp and grits were good, the grits shaped like toast was a surprise. Overall was a nice little spot, a tad pricey but is a nice now and again kinda place.
The hype is real. This place is setting the standard in the area. Accommodating, polite, and 100% the best oysters and fish I have ever had in 34 years. The espresso martinis are transcendent, the staff is down to earth and will easily point you in the right direction. You can not go wrong here, and for the experience and food you’re getting the price tag is overly reasonable. Thank you guys so much for making 4 people and a baby from dallas have the best vacation. We went two nights in a row, 0 regrets.
From the moment we walked in, Tortuga’s Saltwater Grill struck the perfect balance between upscale atmosphere and warm, beach-town charm. The staff greeted us with genuine friendliness, and the service remained attentive and friendly throughout our evening. The menu offers a delightful array of fresh seafood and prime steaks. We began with the truffle fries and were hooked—they arrived crispy, flavorful, and generously portioned. For our main courses, the surf & turf and blackened fish of the day both stood out: the seafood tasted vibrant and fresh, and the steak was cooked perfectly. Sides and accompaniments complemented the mains without overpowering them. Ambience here is a subtle strength. The décor is refined yet relaxed, and it never felt stuffy. Whether you’re visiting for a special dinner or a casual night out, the setting fits perfectly. The patio seating is a nice bonus for enjoying the Gulf breeze. Highly recommended.

The place was nice, clean, good ambiance. Service was excellent. As was the food. We were greatly disappointed by other "high end" places in town. Tortuga's did not disappoint!

Outstanding food and good service. prices are steep and bench seats hard, but you can’t beat the taste of the food. Left a 24% tip.

Excellent fried fish and chips with equally great service! My husband had the fired shrimp and they were just as delicious.

Decent food but overpriced for the quality. The crap dip has more cheese than crab. Schnitzel was great. The crab crusted red fish was large but it was slightly dry as it was over cooked. Nice ambiance and we got a personable waitress with a great sense of humor that makes our experience better. In summary, expensive place with OK food with nice vibes.

Food was good! Pretty good service too! It's kind of loud. But I enjoyed it very much. Had steak, cooked perfect and the crab cake was fantastic.
Ate dinner on a Monday in final hour of operation. Service was prompt and courteous, and he helped out on a first poor beverage selection by replacing it. (Note: that Brunette bombshell brown ale…
I'm reviewing the restaurant Tortuga's. Google seems to think it's a hotel in the review window, and maybe they have rooms, but I dined this past Saturday at the restaurant and have dined there a few times before on trips to Port A. The food was good, not many lighter options, heavy sauces (but you can ask for those on the side). The wine list was good and the cocktail menu looked good as well. We sat on the patio which should have been a fun experience, and here is where the evening went south. The table next to ours had a phone out and was watching some sort of motorcycle race with the volume turned up so that all of us on the patio could hear it. it was a couple and a child, all watching this little TV as though they were in their living room alone. The waitress told them "y'all are fine!" when the mom explained they were watching a race. Fine? not fine. Other tables on the patio were visibly annoyed, the table across from us evening caught our eye and asked if that was OK with us. We said no, and all looked at the offensive table, who decided rather than to display good manners, they would turn up the volume. maybe because it was a patio it was an anything goes atmosphere but for a nice place to allow such disruption to an entire patio of diners was really disappointing. Second, it got chilly and there was a heater right next to our table. We asked that it be turned on and our waitress said it didn't work. Ah well, we understand. But about 10 minutes later another waiter came and got that heater and turned it on, then moved it to another table. Ugh. it's a shame when an otherwise nice evening at a restaurant is diminished by things other than the food.
Our evening out started great as the maitrede seated us outside as requested. There was only one other group outside. Shortly afterwards they seated a large group with several small, loud children right next to us, even though the patio was empty. We ordered a bottle of wine and some starters. Our female server kept pushing us to order our main meals, but we weren't ready. We got our starters, which for the most part we're tasty. The ceasar salad was bland though. We relented to the constant requests from our server to order our mains. Upon receiving them one of the orders, a fried shrimp dinner, came out as fish instead. Our server admitted she ordered it wrong. She took it back and reordered. The rest of us were done our dinners by the time the corrected plate returned, about a half hour. Our server didn't keep our wine glasses filled. Nor did she offer to comp anything for her mistakes. The noisy children right next to us were also a bonus. Our two bills came to almost $400. Food was for the most part, decent, but the service was awful. We won't be back.
So, I would like to start with the fact that Google thinks this is a hotel, when it's a restaurant (bad Google)! That being said, I'll start with the positive. The bartender and the drinks were both absolutely amazing!! I wish every bartender was as outgoing as her! She got extra cool points for being a ginger(us soul takers have to stick together)!! The service is also exceptional. We sat on the patio, and several staff were out there constantly making sure everyone was taken care of. The less than positive for us was the food itself. The eggs on my benedict were over cooked to the point the yolks were basically hard-boiled, and the hashbrowns on both plates were simultaneously blackened while almost raw in the center. My wife actually like this while I did not. All in all, I would definitely recommend Tortuga's for enjoying drinks on the patio, but I'd need to come again for something other than brunch before recommending the food.
Love the food and service but the girl at the front door needs to lighten up a little. We came in at 4:00 on an off season day with only one table occupied in the restaurant and were told that we couldn’t be seated without a reservation. I can completely understand that in season but not when the restaurant has one table occupied and it’s a quiet off season early evening. She needs to smile and be more accommodating. We ended up sitting at the bar and there were more fruit flies than I have ever seen at one time hanging out on the fruit on the bar. Kind of creepy to have that many flies right next to you. Great food but it’s kind of slipping otherwise

Really overpriced average quality food. There were not enough wait staff working however the dining area was full inside and out. Not good enough that I would go nick or recommend to a friend. .

We were greeted and seated for dinner right away as we arrived at 4:30. Our waitress brought us waters and took our drink orders and then appetizer and food order. There were three couples in our party. Our appetizers came out quickly and we're tasty. Our food took a very long time to arrive. Mine was cold and mediocre. When we received our bill there was a 20% large party fee added to our checks. I am sure it was on the menu but really, there were 6 of us. No extra staff were used to serve us. Why would they consider 6 a large party? We won't be returning or recommending this establishment to anyone we know.

Flounder and steak was overcooked. drinks weren't good. Service was slow and not attentive. Spent way too much money on food that no one ate.
Locals do Not dine here. Location was easy to find, parking is a nightmare. We were there for brunch. Food was undesirable. Scrambled eggs were slimy, 1 piece of white toast upcharged $2.00. No butter, no jelly. No substitutions, potatoes so heavily seasoned they were inedible, all 4 breakfasts served floating in grease, coffee tasted burnt. Service was terrible. Manager stopped by our table, had a laugh, didn't see him again. We came by on recommendation and sad to say, this restaurant isn't it.
I can’t rate the food, but I can rate the service. I walked in at 7:30 tonight and saw several tables empty, both inside and outside. The hostess asked if I had reservations. I did not and she said it’d be a 55 minute wait. I decided to leave. I considered going the next day so I was going to make online reservations for the next day. That’s when I noticed that 8 tables were available from 7:45-8:30 tonight. If reservations were essential, the hostess could have said please go online now, there are reservations open starting at 7:45. They could have had my business, but I guess they didn’t care.
Absolutely the worst grouper I have ever tasted. I was clear that I wanted fresh fish. The heavy breading on the fried shrimp and grouper was very thick and tasteless. The fish was mush. At best, it was bought from somewhere like Ben E Keith and then mismanaged. Lunch was over $80 and mine was not edible.
Tried to take my family to dinner here heard great things about it. Try to book a reservation online for 8 people, won’t let me do it because it is too many people. So we showed up early at 4:30 and try to get a table (mind you the whole restaurant is empty minus a couple people at tables. The hostess tells us that they can’t accommodate us because they are already booked and can’t help us. (Which she was less than pleasant to deal with anyways) she told us we could “stand around for 2.5 hours” honestly kind of a bummer. Won’t ever go back there not for the reservation issue more so the unpleasant hostess and lack of accommodations. You will get better customer service at Whataburger. Stay away if you’re looking for a nice accommodating atmosphere.
