The shrimp was huge. And rice with vegtables had good flavor. There was alot i needed a take home box. We sat at the bar.
Very clean and friendly atmosphere. My wife and I visited the are for a weekend away. We are from Troy missouri. Food was extremely good. Smash burger was awesome and tasty. Fried rice bowl has great flavor. Blood orange lemonade was excellent. Ali E was very polite, top notch service and food came out within 10 minutes of ordering.
Beautiful views, great atmosphere and delicious food! A number of unique menu options too; check it out!
Great experience. Food was fresh delicious & well put together. Service was warm, friendly & professional. The menu was not huge, but there was at least 30 options for a main plate... In my opinion, more than enough. I would prefer a few well prepared items to a large menu of mediocrity. Atmosphere is that of a clean, well managed pub dinner. There is a wall of floor to ceiling windows that look out to the Mississippi River. Although we stayed inside, there are outdoor seating option also overlooking the river.
We've tried for years to get Easter brunch reservations but have never been able to. The Easter Brunch did not disappoint. They didn't have as big of variety as some places have but every dish was delicious and cooked perfectly. The monte cristo bread pudding was amazing. Definitely going to have to try their brunch again and I understand now why reservations fill up fast.
Went here for the first time. It was a cozy little place on the river. The food was decently priced large portions and delicious flavors. We will be going back! I have the crispy wonton rice bowl with seared Ahi tuna. The tuna was well seasoned and very tender. The rice was also yummy and had so much leftover!
I drive through Port Byron pretty much every day for my job. In the more than two years since working at this location, I've never stopped anywhere in town either on the way or from work, and given recommendations for bars and restaurants recently provided by coworkers I felt it time to try something in the downtown. Tuggers would be the first stop in this effort. I feel like it's not really necessary to state this, but the downtown of Port Byron along Main Street is not huge. It encompasses all of about three or so blocks. Tuggers is on the river side of this area, near the northern most part of the businesses lining the street. I'm a little bummed I haven't stopped by sooner - even in the winter, the walk along the street was quiet, with the sound of the river adding a certain calm to everything. Tuggers is definitely a stand-out among the places around this area. Their establishment is in a newish looking building - or a very well refurbished one. Regardless, the interior is similarly sharp and new looking. Weathered looking laminate wood floor lines the space with black drop ceiling and recessed light fixtures above. There's a mix of booth, high table, and normal table seating through the space, as well as a few stools at the bar. Additional incandescent globe fixtures are spaced between the wine racks above the bar. The old looking brick and mortar walls add additional character to the space. On the whole, it's cozy and a little dark - I like it. I opted to sit at the bar, even with the dining space mostly empty. I had a Hendrick gin and tonic, which was really well balanced and otherwise tasted great. I only needed to burn about 30 minutes, so I only ordered a side of seasoned fries to snack on. The fries were soon out and I snacked away. They were really well seasoned, tasted great! At the urging of a gentleman at the bar, I need to come back for a future visit, possibly during the summer so as to sit on the big patio. I'm looking forward to this return trip and some more time in Main Street Port Byron. Thanks, Tuggers!
Today, my wife and I stopped in to this place for lunch. Let’s start out with the view from the patio dining area...really scenic, and right on the river. Then the menu comes, and what a really unique selection of burgers. If you’re also into craft beers, they have a menu for you. My wife ordered the barnacle and I ordered the flagship. I was pretty hungry and dove right into mine. The Gouda cheese and the secret sauce combined to form a flavorful taste, and the egg was the cherry on top. This was probably one of the best burgers I’ve had with an egg. She started in on hers, and stated hers was very juicy and tasted good. If you’re a boater, you can pull your boat right up to a dock and go in for a meal too! This was a really good place, very clean, and the burgers lived up to the hype. Highly recommend if you’re wanting a burger, stop in to Tuggers!
An affordable experience and a beautiful location on the river. Great for anything sunset. Had a brunch today but have eaten here a few times. Good food, good drinks, highly recommend.
First time here. My wife & I enjoyed the food & drinks. Great view of the Mississippi river!
Food was excellent, no denying that. Get the Queso Dip! Service overall, from host to bar and in-between, not really that good. Food good enough to visit again.
We happened on this place traveling to Iowa City on a Thursday. The view of the river is spectacular. My son and husband enjoyed their burgers (though my husband took off a half-star for sweet pickles instead of dill pickles.) In retrospect, it's a place to avoid the rice bowl, unless you have time for a delay. But the waitress and management made it right via the bill. Plus, due to the wait we read up on the tug-of-war across the banks of the Mississippi, which was new to us. In all, worth a stop.
Tucker’s solid service and fun atmosphere offers a fantastic variety of burgers, including the flavorful Landlubber, alongside standout dishes like the cornbread with whipped maple bourbon butter and the hearty meatloaf baked potato. The nachos, wings, and draft and cocktails selections are excellent.
Cool place right on the river. Upscale bar & grill vibes. Friendly waitress but didn't know if they had seltzer drinks. Turns out they have Fresca vodka drinks. Food took a very long time but they were very busy. Food was good, not great and it is a bit pricey. I hope to give them another chance.
Tuggers is a cozy restaurant to go along the Mississippi River in Port Bryon, Illinois. You receive a Hometown Welcome with nice people. Food is hit and miss but mostly good. Service has always been great. One of my favs is their Bloody Mary. We shared an app; Italian Nacho Egg-roll (not pictured) We did not care for it. Mainly, because they added too many peppers to egg roll. In the past, we have enjoyed their Flagship hamburger (messy-good) and their Fish Tacos which have always been great. Definitely worth taking a trip to Port Bryon and check this place out for yourself!
