I came with one mission: to have a childhood sushi I haven't had in years: masago and quail egg. Many sushi places can't serve it because they don't keep quail egg in stock. I sat alone at the bar, which was very quiet, but had a great atmosphere. The sushi chef in front of me watched over the staff like a hawk to make sure when I needed something that I was taken care of ASAP (I assume a perk of the bar) . I started with a Sapporo beer with the sushi I came for and the chef made it perfectly. It's a strange combination to many, but to me it reminds me of home. I'm giving 5 stars because of the care this chef put into my sushi. I would recommend solely on his experience. I ordered the sashimi deluxe which I originally thought 24 pieces for 30$ might feel like a ripoff, but was pleasantly surprised with how full I felt at the end. For dessert, I ordered both the Yokan (jelly) and the fried green ice cream specifically for this review since I didn't see any pictures of them. The jelly was definitely interesting and unlike anything I've ordered before. The green tea ice cream was just as expected. I would recommend coming alone or with one other person, but I noticed that groups of four have a great time ordering sushi boats for a decent price between 70-100$ which is pretty good for long island at this time. Definitely coming again! Edit: Came again and ordered much more this time, added pictures! It was even better the second time.
Local staple. Have only ordered take out but will have to dine in one day. Most recently ordered: Dinner sashimi special and Half and half roll: Half spicy crab & half shrimp tempura w/ tuna, salmon, fluke, eel, avo on top.
WOW 🩷🩷 BEST SUSHI PLACE IN LONG ISLAND. Spicy salmon roll and Eel & avocado 🤌🏼 So oishiiiii
It is really worth to try. Good food and good price. 70 dollar for that boat
This is authentic Japanese food. It is delicious and the staff is friendly.

Awesome fresh sushi....best in town!!!!!
Definitely my go to spot for sushi.
Love this place Best sushi !!!
Awesome food and service!
Fantastic service and food.
Very good rolls, inexpensive, great lunch special with rolls/salad/miso, and dine-in seating!! Definitely will go back!!
They have a very generous and scrumptious lunch special which is very affordable!
Friendly service & willing to accommodate vegan diets. Ask about substitutions for the combos. Note that the miso has fish flakes.
We've been coming here for almost 20 years now. Best sushi spot in Suffolk County area
Love the food and service. A great place for Korean and Japanese food. I have been going for decades.
This is a very special place. Great food. Very fresh. Highest quality. Amazingly creative rolls.
A staple for our family. If you want the best Asian cooked food and fresh sushi, this is the place to go. Try the Katsudon!
Really good restaurant. I have known some of the staff since I was like 4. Great food.
Good sushi! Some of the best value in the area. It's clear that they care about value.
I have been going to Hana's for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. Great food and staff.
This has been my favorite place for sushi for years. Always friendly service and quality food
Low key, quiet restaurant with great service. Good vegetable sushi and other Japanese dishes.
For years Hana provides the most authentic and pleasant experience. A fav. So fresh!
Food was delish and service was great. We will definitely be back often!

Extremely delicious! Get the Flamingo and Dragon 🐉 roll
Dinner was good, we are always treated well here.
For over 40 years, Hana has been consistently amazing.
So yummy! Great Korean bbq and sushi!
My family has been eating at Hana Japanese Restaurant in Port Jefferson for 10 years, both sit-down and take out, and we have always enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. 5 stars in my opinion.
Been going there for over 30 years too and never had a bad meal...I would recommend them to anyone who loves true Japanese cuisine.
Consistently the best sushi in Suffolk county for sure. I have been eating there for years now. I have had sushi from other restaurants and every time I have HANA I say that nothing else compares.
This is my favorite place for great food. Excellent service, great atmosphere, great food.
Delicious. The sushi is sooooo good 😊👍 O have a new favorite food
If you want a traditional Japanese experience with a variety of sushi and sashimi in the bite-sized pieces Hana is for you. Friendly tastful and traditional.
My family and I have been coming here for over ten years. It’s Japanese American-style comfort food at its best. The owner is super friendly and we are always greeted with warm smiles and welcomes from the entire staff. They have sushi and some other Japanese staples, and they also have some Korean dishes which are really tasty so do try those too! The place is usually pretty calm and relaxed there, feels like you are eating in someone’s home. I love it here!
We have been going here for years and it is still one of the best sushi places around. Their prices are great even after COVID and the staff is so wonderful. The food always tastes delicious and you can watch the sushi be made right in front of you. Highly recommend anyone who hasn’t been here to check it out.
I love Hana's. I have been going here for over 20 years. It's a hidden treasure. My favorites are the Godzilla & the Hana Wings. Along with the Jimmy roll or any of the sushi. It is always fresh and great tasting. Many to choose from. The hot stone Bibim Bab delish! Just FYI - they don't open until 4 pm. Check the website. Parking is by Grumpy Jack's & you walk a very short path to Hana's. It won't stop you from going. 🍣🍣🥢🍜
Very good food. Great and kind service. Nice and quiet atmosphere. My wife and I have been going here, dine-in & take-out, for 6 years and have always had a great time.
The sushi is the best. Sonny and Mr. Woo make rolls that awaken my taste buds, especially when I get jalapeños added. The crisp, sharp taste enhances the tastes in the sushi. I love the food.
The cutest little place to get great sushi. It’s never too busy and it always feels like home. The food is great and the staff is just as wonderful. We just can’t stop coming here
I loved going to Hana as a kid ... even though it usually meant that I broke a bone or got stitches first. They have fresh fish, great produce, and a menu that will appeal to sushi veterans and newbies alike. There are vegetarian options, cooked menu items, and much more too. The servers are friendly and the chef, quite skilled. The atmosphere of the restaurant it quite calming and after a visit, you will most likely be much more relaxed than when you came (even without a glass or two of sake). Hana is conveniently located across the street from Mather Hospital, not far from the ferry and other hotspots in the Port Jefferson area. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
I've been dining here for years. The fact that after more than 10 years, and it's still here says something. Hidden behind the Port Jeff Station, great prices, some of the best food and service keep us and many others returning again and again.
I love this place. Food was amazing and the service excellent!!! They have an option to have any sushi roll wrapped in cucumber instead of rice and seaweed..in case you're doing the low carb thing! Just 2 short blocks from the Port Jeff LIRR station! Definitely going back soon.
Best local sushi place. The service is always on point. The staff is extremely kind and welcoming. Sushi & food is always fresh and tastes great. Sunny Roll & Space Shuttle every time!
been going here at least once a week. always fresh and great service. very down to earth atmosphere. hard to eat sushi anywhere else!
10/10 best sushi in Long Island.
Excellent service with attentive staff. It took seconds to get their attention even when they were across the room. The sushi was fresh and the correct temperature. The menu is filled with many options, both Japanese and korean. Quiet hidden little gem right by mather and st. Charles hospital. A must try.
Hadn't eaten here in a long time. The food is always so good. Love the miso soup and their sesame dressing on the salad and usually have the negamaki. So tasty!
First time coming here. We had a great time. The atmosphere was lovely felt like I was in Japan lol and very clean. I loved how the sushi all came out on one plate. Will definitely be coming back.
QUALITY ALWAYS! Family run business that I have loved and supported for many years. The Tuna Cado is amazing.
First time here. The waiter suggested an alternative meal and then made a substitution for my Bento Box. For its size, there is pleanty of seating including stools at the sushi bar. There is parking next door where they share space with a small mall.
I've been coming here for many, many years. Even after changing ownership, the charm of this restaurant remains the same and the food and service is still wonderful.
My family and I have been coming to this restaurant for close to 20 years. We love it so much! It is owned by a lovely Korean family and they offer both Japanese and Korean dishes, all which are so delicious! They are always so kind and friendly And service is always wonderful. While I have so many favorites on the menu, I have to say my absolute favorite is their sesame dressing for their green salad. Not many sushi places offer this type of dressing, but I'm so happy they do I wish I could be there in it, it's THAT good!
I’ve been coming here since i was little and it’s always been a favorite of mine. The staff are so kind and attentive. Their sushi isn’t as good anymore, but what i personally order is always fresh and delicious. They also have the best miso soup and salad in my opinion.
I’ve been coming here for years. Finally got to bring my boyfriend in and his mind was blown. The service is amazing. Honestly, I don’t think you can get better service with sushi anywhere near by. The food is delicious and clearly made with love. If you’re thinking about coming here just do it! You won’t be disappointed! We shared the Sushi dinner for two, it was a great deal for a lot of food!!
Absolutely love this little gem! My husband and I have been coming here for years. The food is fresh, the service is quick, the prices are great, the staff is very respectful, and the restaurant itself is beautiful! We recommend this place to everyone!!!

Pretty good for Japanese food in America.
Yummy sushi & other Japanese options, looking out over a nice green garden off the beaten track in Port Jeff.
Food was well above expectations, some very adventurous.
The sushi was very good. Decent quality and a reasonable price. I've had inferior quality that was more expensive at other establishments in the area.
I purchased a Groupon for Hana because I am always looking for good sushi and I am glad that I did. Everything was fresh and delicious. I even got food to go. It was that good. The service was a bit slow but I did not mind because my food was extremely fresh. This would have been a five star review but I have to subtract a star because Hana is extremely small and I felt cramped. I had a hard time squeezing past other diners on my way to and from my table.
The food was good NOT excellent but good . It’s a small place and it was empty which was a plus because you get a nice private setting. The staff was very very slowed they ignored us more for more than 10 minutes when we first came in. I️ asked questions regarding some of the dishes which I was not familiar with but the girl who helped me was LOST. Overall not a bad place but would not go there again
Tuna and Philly roll were okay. Nothing to write home about, but not bad. Miso was lack luster. Green tea was passay, I've had better at home. Good sized portions though.

I don't know how good the food is when you eat in, but I ordered food for pickup and it was absolutely dismal. Paid $20 and got incredibly small portions, with the chicken barely cooked and drenched in sauce to cover its lack of flavor. They gave me a small handful of rice and a few measly pieces of shrimp, also barely cooked and drenched in sauce. Will not order from them again.
This is a nifty little place to get a quick bite to eat that my friends and I love to frequent. Big bonus: it's almost always empty, and you're pretty much guaranteed a seat wherever you want. The food has a solid selection, with a nice small portion dedicated to Korean food, and their Korean short ribs are, by far, probably the best thing on the entire menu. Other stand out dishes are their bento-box, which comes with an impressively nice variety of foods, their bulgogi plate, and a dish whose name escapes me but comes in a hot stone with rice and a fried egg. Being in Long Island, with admittedly limited access to quality Asian food, like Japanese and Korean in particular, this hits the spot without having to trek it into Queens and satisfies a decent price point. My only big gripes with this place is the availability and service, depending on who is there. Usually, the women who work there are accommodating and fast and generally a pleasure, but more often than not the men who work there seem bored and won't make it a secret if they don't want to serve you, which definitely makes for an awkward experience and is part of my lower score. They have great dessert and a nice selection of mochi, just check if they're open before you go, because they are closed a lot of the time even when they say they're open.
This is a great place for everything but sushi, it has a great staff and nice ambiance. But I grew up on the shore eating sushi all the time and this was some of the most bland and tasteless sushi I've ever had. I got the spicy combo so it came with 3 different spicy rolls and I honestly could not tell which roll was which. They all tasted the same, which was warm, soft, and tasteless and every piece has a different point of ingredients, some literally only had rice and cucumber, no fish. But maybe that's what sushi is like on Long Island because this place is rated so highly when it's mediocre at best with it's sushi.

Never seen a chicken tempura roll look like this... it was basically microwaved. Even the eel sauce is dried up...avocado has black spots. Very questionable sushi. Never had a bad experience with sushi before so it's disappointing. 😔
My husband & I visited Hana a few months ago & were pleasantly surprised. We decided to stay home on New Year's Eve & order Sushi from Hana as our regular Sushi Restaurant is permanently closed. Unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. The Sashimi Deluxe Dinner consisted of 24 small pieces of fish placed in a plastic pan without rice. There was only 1 container of soup, although we ordered 2 dinners which were supposed to come with soup. The soup's container was not properly closed, it spilled in the bag on the way home. We ordered 2 Korean Pancakes, but only got 1. When I picked the food up, the waitress seemed confused about which was my order & showed me a piece of paper with scribbled handwriting I could not read, to verify the order. The only thing I could make out was Chirashi, which was one of the dishes on the order I placed. The note did not have my name on it. The Chirashi was cramped in a small plastic container & the quality was mediocre. The dinners came with a house salad, which was a small container of chopped greens. We also had a veriety of appetizers which were very small portions. To sum it up, it was definitely not worth $95.00 and we did not get an itemized receipt, therefore we ate unable to check what we were chargef for. Hana might be a decent Sushi place to visit, but my advice is, Do Not order take-out.

This used to be one of my favorite places for sushi. Isk what happened but the last 2 times I've gotten take out from them the sushi was so rotten I had to throw it out. So disappointed.
Went there a few times over the last 3 years and it was pretty good back then. I went there about 3 weeks ago and was extremely disappointed ... Sushi sashimi were less than ok, nothing out of the ordinary at all, I mean that one can get better sushi in some supermarkets ... And dessert was bad, I mean really bad, not the stuff they were used to serve in the past .... This was a block of corn syrup. I'll certainly not coming back there and I have to find a new place around here now ...
Food was almost unbearable to eat. The white rice was the only thing I could get down. Terrible place. I should’ve known it was bad when there was nobody in there. It was absolutely disgusting
Lady was very rude and told me she didn’t want my service dog to come in. Don’t dine in this place if you want to be treated poorly.
This was the worst sushi I have ever had. We threw out 80% of it . It truly amazes me that buisnesses like this keep on going. I have never had to call a restaurant and make a complaint ever. This was that bad. It doesn't even deserve a single star.
Big sushi fan here. Ordered spicy maki combo and it was overly fishy. Soup tasted like dirty water. I am highly unsatisfied and will never return.
I treated myself to lunch after my husband's surgery was over, and he was in recovery. First thing I ordered was a glass of plum wine. Never got it. I eat sushi often, everyplace I have been to serves a salad, and miso soup with their lunch specials. Apparently Hana doesn't. The waitress brought me a less than satisfactory salad. I asked about the soup, and she said you get one or the other. She never asked me which I wanted, and just brought me the lackluster salad. Wisely she brought me a bowl of the soup. Then came the 3 handrolls I ordered. I started with the salmon avocado one. The skin tasted off somehow. Couldn't eat it. Unrolled the skin, ate the salmon, and the avocado. Asked for a box for the other 2 rolls. I refrigerated them when I got home, tried the salmon with cucumber, skin still off...flushed the remaining rolls down the toilet. Dined there in the mid 80, and it was wonderful! Wanted to go there again. Friday, 6/21, I did. Sorry I did. Will never go there again. Wish I could share the pictures I took...
