Opinions de Grumpy Jack's Inc Port Jefferson
Grumpys is a great place in Port Jeff to grab a drink and some food. They have fantastic Buffalo Wings and always have some great specials. Good place to catch a sports game!
Bartenders were always attentive and were really nice. Ordered wings and they were cooked perfectly. They were crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. The wings are not breaded and are a good size. If I had to complain I would say the sauce didn't sick to the wings well but it's nothing major. By the way the homemade wing sauce is really good.
Great sports bar. People are friendly. Food very good. Always have specials. Our go to place for the family. Has a decent size bar area and also decent size dining area. Plenty of TVs with all sorts of sports on. Shows every NFL game.
One of our favorite classic spots. People seem to love dinner here (and there is a full dining room), but the bar is great too. Lots of TVs to watch games, have a beer, a quickdraw game, and a bite. Really exactly everything one could want in a local pub.
Grumpy's a great place to go for decent food, a nice, cozy atmosphere and excellent drinks. I 'm a one/two drink person, and believe it or not, some bartenders can't make a decent cocktail, as incredulous as that may sound! That's not the case at Grumpy's. I have always gotten a perfect cocktail there. Lauren at Grumpy's makes a perfect Cosmo or Marguerita....she's a pro. She is also friendly, but genuine and authentic. We usually sit at the bar or table at the bar area for happy hour. It's a good place to relax for a meal and a drink.😊
Everything we ordered was delicious and cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend the grumpy jack wrap. It tastes as amazing as the picture looks 😋 we also had the double trouble burger which was so tasty as well. Also ordered the appetizer platter which was surprisingly good too. The marinara sauce is awesome. I'm very picky, and I never give good reviews like this. Can't wait to go back and try the shepherds pie
We came here because we heard many great things about their wings. And they didn't fail at it. They were honestly my 2nd or 3rd favorite wings and ive tried a lot of places. They have a unique wing sauce thats buttery and flavorful. Although i thought it was too buttery, it was still really good sauce. Although i will say this is a sports bar more than anything thus it was very loud and very tiny inside. Its good for those who love the sports and watching with friends but there is very little room for those there just to eat as the restaruant seating arrangement is small and lacking. The service was good and attentative at times but sometimes forgot about is, probably due to the chaotic nature of it being a sports bar, loud and filled with sports fans. Would still go again, when I'm in town and try their other wing sauces.
Was a great meal came here visiting from Florida for my birthday. T. J behind the bar was not only a great drink slinger , he also had a smile that would stop traffic. And if you are looking for a great cornedbeef Reuben , and a great cold beer this is the place . Only thing meatier than my sandwich was t.j . Thank you once again grumpy jacks I will be back for sure
Must go place! Cheap prices. Great place for a burger and beer. Definitely try the wings. The Grumpy Jack sauce is incredible. You’re gonna want that sauce for everything you eat like your burger and fries. Have good specials now. Had the soft crab sandwich. So good! Got the fries and asked for Grumpy Jack sauce on the side. That sauce is incredible! Quick service. Friendly staff. Great ambiance. Wonderful local restaurant. Across the street from Mather Hospital. Will definitely come back!
Grumpy Jacks has been one of our favorites for years. The food is great. Love the burgers, grumpy jack wrap and try the chicken napoleon. Best wings period. Great tap beer choices. The staff is always friendly and attentive even when very busy. And it’s a nice atmosphere.
The food is consistently great and the servers are wonderful. The soups are delicious. And the kitchen is flexible and can modify a dish upon request. While there is some standard (& yummy!) pub fare, there are a lot of healthy choices on the menu too, like grilled fish and seafood. Definitely not to be missed if you are in/near Port Jeff.
Was great but very very busy and not very organized about the wait list. And the steak wasn't seasoned. Was very bland. Other than that it was great!
Had a gift card. Went there for the first time. Service was great got helped immediately and continually checked up us to see if we needed anything. Food came in a good time frame. Food was excellent, I got the chicken fried basket and my boyfriend got the steak. No complaints at all. Had a few drinks tasted good. Would definitely recommend and will be going back.
I've never had a bad experience here. Everything about Grumpy Jack's is pleasurable. They're always quick to greet you upon entry. Service is very accommodating. There is a wide selection of things to eat. I cant speak for the bar but from the looks of it, there is a lot going on for drinks too. I'm a fan of the look - it's like a house was remodeled a bit so it could be a restaurant. We've tried the bacon and blue cheese burger (or was it gorgonzola, I don't know, it's all tasty to me), the po-boy sandwich, the crispy chicken sandwich, the sliced steak sandwich... all have been a 20 on the money! My only gripe comes from my most recent visit where we got a waiter for the first time. He wasn't the most attentive and was definitely more interested in chatting with the table next to us; they were obviously friends of his. I'm glad someone else stepped in and helped us because it wasn't really all to cool to go with no refills, napkins, etc. This doesn't factor into my score since the other guy took care of us in the waiter's stead. Otherwise the usual waitresses are friendly and swift. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Price: 5/5 Overall score: 5/5
This location is just amazing! I always love the sevice and how delicious all the food is! My family loves to eat there with a bunch of friends, which just enhances the experience! My kids love all the choices, as does my wife! I look forward to returning for another excellent meal!!!
Great place for a cozy meal. We went for lunch. Had the jalapeño poppers and they were the best we've ever had (and we've had a lot :). They were crunchy on the outside and tasty on the inside. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. We ate it too fast to take any pictures. The service was excellent. Staff was pleasant and helpful and very responsive to any requests. Highly recommend! Looking forward to going back!
Cozy dim-lit restaurant that brings you all your favorite dishes in true pub fashion. I had the pleasure of trying their Shepard's pie and it was worth every penny. I will definitely be back to take a hack at the 8oz Filet mignon. Service was also great and our server was friendly. Dishes came out fast too.
Food is delicious if you're looking for pub fare or some comfort food. I left very full and satisfied. I had the burger special with sweet potato fries and my friend had wings and fries. Both happy with our meals and had leftovers the next day :). Clean bathroom, good service (we went in afternoon), and good prices. Recommend.
One of my favorite local spots for dinner. Staff is always so friendly, even the nights they’re super busy. The burgers here are great, and always cooked how you order them!! The grumpy jacks chicken and the pretzel appetizer are favorites of mine. This place never misses.
The best local pub. Great food!!
Family friendly, couple friendly, staff friendly, worth a visit then you'll be hooked. They celebrate birthdays, and the cuisine of the holiday. There is an upstairs area for your major events too. There is always a reason to go.
The food is great and the bartenders are even better.
Friendly attentive service, good food, overall nice. Got a little noisy but lively was ok by me. Sliced steak sandwich was hearty and cooked perfectly. Great seasoned fries. Chicken Parmigiano delicious. Would def go back.
Best burgers around. I almost always order the Cajun burger with sweet potato fries (the dipping sauce is awesome). Great bar. Friendly and skillful bartenders. Never had a bad meal or drink here! The restaurant part is nice too, the fireplace in the downstairs dining area adds to the ambience. And in warm weather, they have an outdoor patio. Located in Port Jeff but not on the busy stretch so it's not filled with college kids on the weekends and they have their own huge parking lot. I love this place.
Lively Atmosphere with Solid Comfort Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Grumpy Jack’s in Port Jefferson is a great spot if you’re in the mood for casual dining with a lively vibe. The bar area is bustling, especially during game nights, and the multiple TVs make it a fun hangout for sports fans. The dining section offers a slightly quieter experience if you’re there for the food. The menu has a lot to choose from, but the seafood bisque in a bread bowl was the star of the night for me—rich, creamy, and flavorful. Their burgers are also fantastic, with hearty portions and lots of flavor. The Cajun burger was a personal favorite. The service was friendly and quick, even though the place was packed when I visited. The only downside is that it can get a bit loud, so it’s not the best spot for a quiet meal, but it’s perfect if you’re looking for energy and fun. Overall, Grumpy Jack’s is a reliable choice for good food, great drinks, and a lively night out in Port Jeff!
Very nice place! Had the onion soup, it was good! And large fried shrimp dinner! Delicious! 6 large shrimp and good price! Will definitely go again!
Super good. I had to try it a second time to see if it was as good as the first. IT WAS. The burgers are a good size, and cooked perfectly how you like them. I got the french onion burger. It was amazing from the first until the last bite. Our waiters were attentive, and super friendly. Great find.
A friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices can elevate standard pub grub to 5 stars in my book! If you're visiting port Jeff and you have a car just go up the hill since this is not in the main harbor district.
Great place for get together after work today, always consistent 👌
First time going to this restaurant. Food was delicious and filling. There was all different sports on the tvs and some awesome jerseys. The only thing I had an issue with was I asked for another glass of water right as we were about to receive the check and I didn't get the water before leaving. Everyone that we interacted with were very friendly and nice. The waiter was knowable but wasn't sure on the quantities of the items that came with the dish. I would recommend this restaurant 😋 👌. Hoping to go back to try more items from the menu.
Great food but limited if you're a vegetarian, good beer but best of all friendly staff, thinking of going again before I return to England
Place was packed, but it didn't take long to be seated. Service was great and so was the food. A hidden gem. Can't wait to go back!
Grumpy Jack's has now become My favorite place to have a beer and food. We have eaten at most places in Port Jefferson. Grumpy Jack's has the best food for the price you can find. Once you have a Grumpy Jack's Burger you will be hooked. The wings are their own but taste fantastic. All the bartenders truly are very polite and very friendly. If you a place to eat with great food nice people and a place to watch a game, you have to go Grumpy Jack's where no one is ever grumpy
The food here is amazing! My husband got the burger it looked awesome! I got the steak sandwich and I couldn't believe how tender and delicious the steak was! Our server was great as well. It's a bit of a shabby bar, but I think that's the vibe they are going for!
This was our first visit. Amazingly my filet mignon was cooked to perfection. This has not happened at a restaurant in a very long time. Asparagus, green beans exactly the correct crisp. Short ribs with demi glaze...OMG. Seriously how have we never been here before!? Butterfinger Martini so ridiculously incredible. On top of the food being beyond delish, the service was excellent. Our host Trevor was attentive to all working the room like a real pro, seating customers, taking orders, clearing tables all with a smile. Our actual server (Trevor's wife) was just another bonus with her cheerful personality and ability to keep the beers coming while attending many other tables. The atmosphere, exactly how we like it dimly lit, fire roaring and Zeppelin playing. We are very much looking forward to our next visit. Marc & Liza
It's good food, I just picked my food. Thank you
Bartender was the sweetest. Drinks were amazing and the food was great 👍
Excellent food and great local spot. A little pricey for bar food but overall great experience
Always consistent with their food and service they never disappoint try the rasta pasta and a rum punch
Great food at ver reasonable prices. The only hassle is that it's pretty popular and they don't take reservations
Food is always great and drink specials are wonderful. Great crowd and awesome staff!!
We decided to give this a try for my husbands birthday dinner and we're glad we did! There was no wait and we were greeted and seated right away. Our server was great and very attentive. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was nice and the bathrooms were very clean. We will definitely be coming back!
Came here with my wife and we had a great experience. The service was quick and attentive, the food was excellent, and the atmosphere was great. I got the crispy chicken sandwhich, it was really great. I highly recommend Grumpy Jack's for a great meal.
Stopped here with some friends while taking a day trip to Port Jeff. I ordered the Chipotle burger and the others had a black and bleu burger. These were honestly the BEST tasting burgers we had in a long time or that we can remember. Cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. Good selection of sides as well. Waitress was friendly and good atmosphere
Delicious!! Great place to eat! We had a party of 6 and mostly everyone loved their food. Po Boys, Shrimp Risotto, and a Reuben with Sweet Potato Fries. The Philly Omelette was not the best - wouldn’t recommend. The Fig Mule was so refreshing. Great service and great portions for the price. The atmosphere felt good. A local pub with a hospitable feel. We got our drinks and food pretty fast. Definitely recommend! 😎
Wow what can I say best service ever I had 3 server's for the most part we had our main server. Then every server that walked by asked if we needed anything. Even with our server stopping by a lot. Food outrageous and fresh and hot. All this while the place was busy, we will definitely be back.
Great wings, short ribs and burgers. Place gets crazy packed so expect a wait on peak days. Also its LOUD if that bugs you, but good place to watch a game and get above pub level food. But take out can be spotty. They left pasta out of our chicken francese and mashed potatoes out of our short ribs. So check your order before you leave.
Ate at the bar, for lunch. Food was great and well prepared, nice size portions as well. Staff super friendly and helpful.
I walked (for geriatric exercise) there at the beginning of dinner (around 4:15 - 4:30) and took the first seat of the night, by the fireplace (photo to follow). The dining room is kinda small, but they do have tables upstairs on their balcony. The biggest problem I had, was as a Bar - Restaurant they have a lot of doors to the outside, so there will be the occasional blast of cold air. Their burgers are Half Pounders, so they're really juicy. For dessert, I had an Apple Crisp My server was Ally, she let me read my book in peace and kept an eye on my drink. By the time I left around 6 pm, quite a number of people were dining
Solid place, great vibes, cool servers and superb eats.
Ive been here twice, had the same server both times who was great. Very attentive and polite. It was really busy this last time, and we had to stand and wait a bit. Not a big deal. We were seated at a quiet table upstairs after about 10 or 15 minutes. Food is pretty good, and I was very happy to see they cater to vegetarians with their menu. Prices are very reasonable. I would certainly recommend.
Grumpy Jack's has a cozy rustic interior. The dining room was a little loud because of the bar area. The servers were very friendly, efficient and fast. The Calamari and Clam Strip appetizers were very good. The Shortribs were tender, delicious and it was a nicely sized portion. The Tuscan Salmon over Linguini dish was underwhelming, too much sauce and not enough flavor. The Porterhouse was perfectly cooked with tasty mashed potatoes. The Crab Cakes were large and delicious. We are definitely returning to try other appetizers and entrees. I would recommend reservations as Grumpy Jack's is a local favorite and busy.
This restaurant is more like an upscale "dive" bar. The menu has a lot of choices but a few of them missed the mark. Those of us who ordered more traditional bar food were very happy. It was our first visit and we will be going back. Hopefully the food quality will be better and we just caught them on an off night.
Decent American Bar food. Ordered the steak and eggs for breakfast and 10 Buffalo Wings. You do get one free mimosa with an order of a brunch entree. Food was all average. However, i did like the fabor of the wings. Service was fast, attentive, and friendly. Bar was clean. TVs were playing Sunday football. Plenty of parking. I'd come back to watch a few games on TV.
Our burgers were great. What lacked for me was the appetizer zucchini sticks where nothing more than heat and serve and not worth the price. Fries were good and the coleslaw is good. It was a hectic Saturday night during a Dickens Festival but this place is usually very solid and the pricing is very good. It was extremely busy this night and the service was way behind
Nice little place by the Port Jeff. Train station. The prices are really affordable and they offer a very large selection of food. I ordered the nachos which were decent although it came with a nacho cheese sauce where I would've liked melted shredded cheese instead. I also got the Steak sandwich special with horseradish sauce and fries. It was a good sandwich. Overall a nice place. I will be back to try some other food options. Our waitress was very friendly as well and there was a mix up with my friends food and the main dish came out before his soup because the place was super busy, so the soup was cold, but she took off $5 for the soup. It should've been comped completely though. Other than that decent little pub spot.
The quality of the food was pretty inconsistent. Some dishes like the seared tuna were delicious, but others like the gnocchi were not great :(. Service was a tad slow, although it wasn’t much of an issue. The atmosphere was good and there were plenty of options for seating (bar, booths, and tables) Overall, not a bad spot!
We when here for a birthday dinner. Staff were friendly until you asked for something. The food was good especially the jalapeño pigs. We got the family feast and it was very good they let us substitute the pulled fork for brisket. Also the beers were huge!!! Would definitely recommend going here!
Busy Friday night; difficult to find parking. Walked into a loud bar area & restaurant. We were seated with our menus, server came over for our drink order, and we also ordered the sampler appetizer, which came fairly quick. The baked clams were decent, nice chunks of clams in the mixture. Popcorn shrimp had a nice crunch. Mini tacos were average bar food tacos. Mozzarella sticks were nicely fried with a great cheese pull. Our dinner was served just as we finished the Appetizer - again, very quick, considering how busy it was. I ordered the crabmeat stuffed flounder with a sweet potato and Broccoli. The flounder was very good, decently stuffed. My husband ordered a burger with Swiss cheese and pastrami. He loved it. Perfectly cooked. Service was great, a rotation of servers and bussers, so the table was always tended to.
We were a party of 4, no wait for dinner during the week. Had the codfish with bruschetta, kind of rustic looking inside. The bar area always has a good crowd. They had used to have wing specials Tuesday nights, I don't know if that's still going on. Anyway this is a good place for dinner or lunch with family or friends.
Place is nice, food was good. Nice selection of apps, sandwiches and some dinners. The Decor is dark and dated, had an old feel. Some might think of it as homey. I would go back when looking for a burger or Bavarian pretzel...
My fiancé and I tried this place and for a first impression they messed up his drink, too salty when he asked for sugar rim. The price for it was up there. The fries were good, cocktail shrimp fine, his burger was good. Chicken wrap isn’t bad. Average service nice servers checked up.
Local bar and restaurant. It is what you expect an Applebees-type restaurant but local. Busy bar at 530p on a Saturday. It was a busy restaurant area too. Hard to hear our whole party talking. It felt like we had to scream back and forth. Food was okay. Had the ahi tuna salad that is supposed to be seared and it seemed a tad more cooked than seared.
Great atmosphere. Expect to wait long for a table (at least an hour on a Saturday night]. All food I would rate as good. Apps, dinner, desert all good for price. For example... filet minion was a good steak, but not how that type of meat should be cooked. Drinks could use improvement (on specialty drinks). The staff was Great! I would go back because of the "good" food, drinks, and especially locality. (Close to home)
Pub food mediocre at best small portions
I recently visited Grumpy Jack’s in Port Jeff, and overall, it was a decent experience. The food was pretty good, though I did find the appetizers a bit underwhelming—they felt a bit subpar compared to the rest of the meal. I ordered the prime rib from their specials and requested it medium rare, but it initially came out rare, closer to black and blue. Fortunately, the staff handled the issue well, bringing me a new prime rib cooked to the correct temperature, which I appreciated. If you’re planning a visit, I’d recommend coming during the week when it’s less busy. On Fridays and Saturdays, this place gets packed, and you can expect a wait. Despite the small hiccup, I’d say the overall experience was positive, and it’s worth checking out if you’re in the area—just plan your visit accordingly!
Been here twice and had very different experiences. First time, pretty fast service and nice atmosphere. Second time which was a Friday night, the server pretty much forgot that he was serving us and was on his phone near the entrance/host stand. Had to approach another server and it took 45 mins or so for the food to arrive. We ordered a main and an appetizer/side. The side could’ve arrived earlier at least. It gets very loud which is to be expected at a restaurant with a joint sports bar I guess.
Stopped in for lunch and ordered the Seafood Bisque and the Crispy Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich. The bisque was good but my sandwich came out with just chicken and cheese, no sauce or bacon. It was very plain, did not even bother saying anything, if the kitchen doesn’t know what comes on their own sandwiches then the server probably doesn’t know either. Won’t be visiting this establishment again.
Service was very good, friendly. Burger was undercooked. I didn't send it back because it always comes back overcooked. Ordered medium, it was medium rare.
My husband's burger was good and so was my chicken wings but the pirogies was very strange. I never had hard rubbery pirogies before. The onions weren't caramelized enough and there was some strange wilted green things on the plate. I would not recommend them. Waitress was great but the only one for the entire dinning room so there was a wait on service.
Ate here for the second time, the first being at least five years ago. After reviewing the menu, I couldn't remember why we hadn't been coming, since it had a lot of really great options. We got a variety of things and honestly, everything was just "ok". Nothing was really great, but it was all edible. The prices were fair, but I wouldn't order anything we got again. The soda was flat, and the burger was severely overcooked. All of that having been said, our server (Kenny) was exceptional. He was very attentive and had a wonderful attitude.
I wanted to like it, but I couldn't. The place itself was decent, except for the table right next to the bathroom, like, you can see inside the bathroom. The music playing in the bar was loud and screamy. Although not crowded, service was slow, but friendly enough. The food is where they blew it. Ordered bar pretzel & salad...easy right? Pretzel was over-nuked, dry and tasteless. Salad was little more than the last of the iceberg pieces and a bit of cuke. Dressing was bland. The wing sauce was mostly olive oil and unlike anything I've ever tasted, or wish to taste again. It congealed on the table. Soda was mildly flat. Company made up for disappointing fare. Hope your experience is better!
The waitress was nice, provided great service. But I ordered a medium burger and got 1/2 lb of dry meat.. didn't not enjoy the burger at all. Waffle fries seemed over cooked too. The whole experience wasn't too pleasant overall.
Not completely satisfied I had ordered the burger, medium rare with mushrooms. Sadly, the mushrooms were not fresh, but rather canned nor sautéed and the burger was rather small and not medium rare. The potato salad be forewarned has relish in it! Very sweet. We ordered apple crisp for dessert and it was actually apple crumb pie. Not served warm and very bland. There were a lot of customers there, so we probably ordered poorly I guess.
Ordered 3 burgers + chicken wrap + onion rings for take out. Burgers to be medium rare. Not a hard order. The onion rings were very good. 1 burger was the wrong burger, all 3 were cooked medium to medium well - not medium rare as ordered. The wrap did not have any sauce on it. All in all... we were not happy with what was ordered. The service team was very nice and professional. I guess the kitchen team has to do better.
Not good. I have a hard time believing that this place is still open and I was put off by the amount of dirt on the walls, the wainscoting had years of dust along the top. A young fellow mopped a spill off the floor with a rag and moments later used the same rag to clean a table. I don't know! At least the ladies' room was clean and nice. We ordered some typical bar food. The poppers tasted freezer burned with hints of mildew just awful, not edible at all. The BLT I ordered was a "special" and the bacon was very tough. The fried green tomato seemed prepared elsewhere and probably from the freezer. The lettuce again was not fresh. The "Greek salad" was ridiculous. It had mesclun lettuce, not romaine, mesclun was brown at stem edges, there were no red onions, no feta cheese! two tired olives, a couple pieces of cucumber, pepperoncini and 2 grape tomatoes in this salad? That was not a greek salad! Can't recommend this place. True, I have not tried everything on the menu , but why would I bother with so many other good places to eat in the area! If I could sum it up in one word it would be tired. The place is tired ... tired... exhausted!
This might be a good place to have a drink but in my opinion the food is not good. I ordered jalapeno poppers and they were those super cheap frozen ones you see at crappy dive bars. The ones with the fake cheese inside. And they were freezer burnt. Since it says “restaurant” outside, I was expecting something better. I also got a greek salad and it was literally just a pile of lettuce with like 3 olives. The staff was nice but I wouldn’t even come back here to have a drink because it was extremely dusty inside.
Awful experience. Just got back from first time going. And I thought I would be ok with ordering Chicken parm with spaghetti - not edible - previously frozen chicken tough as leather - probably in the freezer for over a month. Disappointed - just awful. Never going back - one and done - just sad . Didn't complain - just paid and got outta there. Took two bites. That's that.
Came out here to visit our son at Stonybrook. Seemed like a nice place to sit and relax with the family based on reviews. Our experience here was unfortunately an unpleasant time. Waitress wasn't to friendly at all. She seemed upset or annoyed, I really just thought maybe she wasn't having a good shift. Don't know. We ordered our meal which took approximately 40 minutes to get to our table. No communication from our waitress and when the food finally arrived, my wife's order was wrong. The waitress rolled her eyes after my wife complained. I just took my food to go. I am not the type of person to give a hard working person a hard time. But when someone is not nice to their customers, I will be sure to write about this for others to read. Definitely off my list when in the area visiting our son.
They shouldn’t even get the one star. We have not been there in many years and decided to go tonight with our family. It was not busy for a Saturday night at all and we were kind of surprised. Well that quickly changed. The waiter took forever to get our drink orders then we all ordered dinner mostly sandwiches and burgers. All but one order finally came and we thought they just couldn’t carry out and we’re going back. I asked for ketchup at least 6 times by time they came with it my burger was cold. Worst part is my husband never got his food. We told the waiter and he said he will go check then avoid to come to our table for 30 mins. Came over finally said the kitchen was backed up by this time everyone in our party was finished with our meals and they were cleared from the table. It our worst experience in a restaurant. Never even apologize nothing . Safe to say we will never go back and now we realized why it was not busy on a Saturday night!
Beer ok. Calamari like rubber. Burger burnt couldn't eat.
Service was horrible. Waitress wasn't friendly at all. Came here on a visit to see our son in Stonybrook. Never again. Waited 45 minutes for our order only for it to be wrong and the waitress rolling her eyes on us. Took food to go. Rather, make my own burger at home.
Zero stars in all honesty. Horrible service. Will never go back or recommend this place. Went with one friend for dinner and sat in the bar area. Took the bartender 10 minutes to come with menus, then another 20 minutes to come back for our drink and appetizers order. He would drop stuff on the table and rush away as if he couldn't wait to get back behind the bar to chat with his friends and drink his beer. The food was good but not outstanding and the bartender got one of our orders wrong, but he never bothered to inquire as to whether we needed anything, he never brought the second round of drinks we ordered when he delivered our food to the table and ran away. Burger was ordered medium and was cooked well done. Portions were tiny for specials but the prices weren't tiny. Happy to pay for good food and good service but... We were definitely Grumpy when we left there. Absolutely wretched experience.
If your served food with a human hair in it you want to throw - up. They replaced it ( took 20 minutes) and a glass of wine. WOW BIG DEAL ! They should’ve taken the meal off the bill. Wondering if the chef wears a hair net? Not going back……
I just ordered take in for 6 people. 4 orders of wings 3 burgers and a BLT onion rings Wings were horrible rubber skin grizzly chicken couldn’t eat them. Asked for one of the burgers on whole wheat toast came on a roll. I dealt with it. $156.00 this will be my last order or visit to Grumpy Jacks. I’ll drive to Phil’s in Wading River.
The soda is usually flat. It’s also not Pepsi as they say. The cocktails are good. But- the food is mediocre at best. Our dinner at this visit was horrible. Overcooked and dried out with lumpy extra thick gravy was how the bangers and mash could be described. My fish was just dry and the baked potato was reheated and old. Stick to the burger menu for anything decent I assume. Maybe they lost their regular chef?
Diner BEWARE: at the very bottom of the menu in small print you will find: "Prices listed are based on a cash discount.....3.5 percent service fee is added to credit card..." Now on to the food: Notice in the picture the item in the upper left corner? No it's not a paperweight. That compressed lump is the stuffing from my crab stuffed flounder. See the potato? It appears to be a regular white potato, but I ordered a sweet potato. Oh well, my mother taught me you don't always get what you want............ On the other hand, the flounder was tasty and the green beans were outstanding. And the staff were all super pleasant. To sum it up: It is nice local hangout for a drink or appetizer, but I would take my dinner dining somewhere else. Also I don't patronize establishments that have "hidden fees"
