I've been to this place twice, once for a study session with a classmate and the second time with a close friend who I felt like he NEEDED to check this place out. Honestly everything from the environment and the service it was all amazing. Im definitely coming back again. -My first order was the matcha late kava -Second was the captain crunch. Both orders were phenomenal. Anyways I'll be dropping by again next time I'm in port jeff!!
Intrigued by the signs in the windows exclaiming the benefits of kava, my friend and I strolled into the wonderful world of this non alcoholic bar. Being virgins to this root, we asked for guidance on what to order. This kava is supposed to have the relaxing, mellowing effects of say, Marijuana or even alcohol, but without the detriments that come with those. The young lady suggested a cold kava drink in a coconut cold mug with a slice of pineapple. There's a single, double or triple. She said it's suggested to start high and get the product built up in your system, then go down to single whilst in maintenence mode. We went with the double. We watched her spoon a large spoonful of what looked like, as another patron said, dirty water into our coconut cups! And garnished this dirty water with a pineapple. Bon Appétit! Well I have to say upon the first sip, I was waiting to be repulsed, but it actually didn't have much of a taste. As I got closer to the bottom of the cup, however, I got more flavor.. it was definitely a muddy, earthy flavor. I loved it I have to say. My friend was not a fan. Ha! I guess it's an acquired taste. The atmosphere was very chill. Seems an eclectic crowd. Young, old, parents, singles, white and.. well (us two) black! It was a cool decor. They have board games you can play. Seems a great place to chill alone with a book or laptop. It was dog friendly as well. I think if i lived here, I'd probably be a regular very quickly. Kudos!

Roots Kava Bar is a classic go-to. Aside from the tasty drinks, they have board games! I literally love everything about it

The workers are always very kind and welcoming whenever anyone walks in. They do a great job explaining how kava and kratom works and all the drinks are delicious. A great place to just hang out and enjoy the atmosphere or even get some school work done.
Valentina was so helpful and the drink was delicious. We learned a lot and loved the space❤️

My girlfriend and I came here on a Friday. I must say, not what I was expecting. I was beyond pleasantly surprised. Our host, Valentina, was amazing Not only was she super friendly, knowledge about the products, but this girl makes the most delicious Peanut Butter Bliss drink EVER! Thank you for a great vibe and chill night. We most def will be back.
What a wonderful little place with such a great vibe and energy. They have anything and everything for herbal enthusiasts. Great snacks to grab (All vegan!!) and an insane amount of varieties of drinks. Hands down my favorite place to kick back and enjoy a non alcoholic beverage.

This place is my safe haven when I want to take a day trip outside of the city. Hailing from Brooklyn, I purposely make the two hour trip to see my friends here and have even introduced the spot to people who have never been here before. Nothing but love for this place!!!

Overall, my crew and I had a wonderful vibe in the back as we played with the instruments and vintage games. It’s unfortunate that this experience was not like my very first experience with a beautiful, lovely lady who made the best drink I’ve ever had that I ordered for on that day. Very unfortunate that the mail employee that was there was very very very very very, very bad at making or duplicating the drink that I had initially had there. He stated that the cava was fresh and that’s what led to the murky color. Pretty much the same drink, and the consensus was the same, the drink was not good at all. Are we sure that this young Cat, who seemed very confused and insinuated that we stole a drink, like make that make sense. He seemed like he was on Quaaludes or something. Alternatively, the customer that was sitting there the last time I had gone, there was there again and he seemed pretty cool. It’s my understanding that this establishment was designed for everyone to kick back. Have fun and vibe out, the gentleman literally came to the back and told us to keep it down after I requested that he changed the headbanging heavy metal that he was playing. We do apologize for lighting the incense, but of course it went along with the vibe so no harm no foul. The gentleman seemed like he had a lot of anxiety issues and had a very hard time listening to us. Have fun in the back , he said it was a bit too much, I felt like it was perfect given the type of establishment that this is. Someone should let him know where he works, and what the true vibe is there because he killed it for my entire party, and we walked out after that. And if the business owner is reading this, he should really reconsider keeping him on board and bring back the other lady who was kind, humble, good vibes and knew how to make a drink

Weird experience here. Came in with 7 of my family members on a Wednesday late afternoon to celebrate a reunion after many years. From the start, we were made to feel very strange. First, one of us ordered 3 kava/kratom drinks and another of us ordered her own separately: 4 drinks. The barista insists he made 5 and one was not paid for. It’s a small place, you can clearly see there are only 4 cups between the group of us at that point. When we counted out the amount of cups to confirm, the barista said “I’ll just let it go” as if we were trying to get one over on him or as if he was giving something for free. Very strange and made us feel uncomfortable, but we went to the back room to play games. While back there we were cheers-ing out drinks and playing the tambourines that are left on pillows back there. The barista eventually came over to tell us we were “doing too much” (exact words) and being loud. We were the only ones there except for the barista and one other person on a laptop with headphones… and the tambourines were provided there… all in all super weird experience that left a terrible taste in our mouth despite the drinks and decor being great. Bummer. Wouldn’t return!
ZERO STARS! If i were a person searching for a nice cup of tea this is not the place I would go to. Customer service is horrendous. Specifically the girl with brown hair- I’m assuming one of the owners. Sticky tables- cards kept getting stuck to the table. I asked the girl at the register a question and she responded in a hostile tone. I would not return. Try the tea and spice exchange or dark horse in PJ !!!!
I got incredibly sick from this place, I believe there is Kratom in the drinks as well and it did get me sick
Don't come here unless you want to be disrespected by the owners "friend". Had a really uncomfortable time here which stinks bc I usually like this place 0/10 definitely DONT recommend.
