Stafford's Chocolates

Iced Portervillain was excellent! Far superior to anything you'd get at Starbeezys. That'll be my go-to from now on. Wouldn't recommend the Affogato freeze unless you want something SUPER sweet. Inside is nice. Lots of good treats to choose from. They also carry Rosa ice cream, which was nice to see since I'm originally a Hanfordian. Would recommend to anyone looking for good coffee or chocolates in P-ville.

Rainy and gloomy outdoors, wanted something nice and hot to warm our selves, so we decided on driving over to Stafford's in Porterville. Let me say...the streets were wet, but the inside of Stafford's was cozy with plenty of seating available. My wife chose to have a hot cafe mocha with a chocolate scone, and I had a cafe Americano with a scone as well. The drinks served were really hot, and had to cool a bit before enjoying them. Both of us really enjoyed our coffees and our scones. I still had plenty of coffee left over, and decided to purchase a slice of their zucchini coffee cake, and told my wife that I'd be right back as I went to my vehicle to get my wallet. However, upon my return, and as I was ready to pay, the server advised me that the previous customer, a younger person had already paid for my slice of coffee cake, and as I turned around to thank the person they had already exited the store. I felt very grateful for what had just happened to me. I sat down and really enjoyed my treat. The coffee cake had the perfect combination of crust with cake and most definitely made with lots of love. As a fellow baker, I always like to shout out whenever I am very pleased with when someone does a great job in making a difference in my culinary experience, and I want to show my appreciation by voicing my satisfaction. Service was excellent, as was the coffee with our treats. So, if your out and about, and want something hot, and maybe a treat to go with it...try Stafford's Chocolates in Porterville, and be pleasantly surprised as we have. By the way, I'd like to personally Thank the person who paid for my treat.

Best chocolate I have ever had. The muffins are like none I have had. Just fabulous. I look forward to my next trip to Porterville to explore other items on the menu. Try it. You won’t be disappointed.

Our first time there and it was such a great experience. The ambience is nostalgic and the coffee is superb! Lots of fresh out of the oven treats and chocolate! ❤ if you haven't been, make sure you try it soon.

Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. They did the wedding favors for our wedding. The packaging went perfect with the rest of our table decor and our guests were very happy with the chocolates! Christine was great to work with. We were happy with our experience and highly recommend them.

Wow!!! Just wow, what a cute and awesome little cafe!!!! Literally why would you ever go to Starbucks when Stafford's is here. I'm immediately committed to being a regular here and you should be too. Just step through the door and smell pure joy, and you'll be hooked. There's coffee, tea and lemonade, and of course an enormous selection of chocolates, treats and pastries. Come winter months I'm probably gonna be here weekly to down my chills in chocolate bliss.

A gem in an unexpected place. Easily top 3 artisanal chocolate places I've been in the US. The gooey bar is also fantastic. Only downside is while their milk chocolate is excellent, their dark chocolate is only average. 5 stars nonetheless.

The smells, the ambiance, the low lit cafe feel... I love it all! It's so nice that porterville has a place like this and gives me a reason to take a ride to town and check out whats new.

Best handmade chocolate in, well, anywhere around. And an actual trained barista that can make you a real Coffee. !!NOT!! a button pushing milk jocky like your local Seattle cookie cutter embarrassment to coffee / espresso fans everywhere.

update June 2024: Coffee is up to a whopping $$ two dollars. Everything at Staffords is still fabulous. August 2, 2022, 11 AM: Coffee is hot, the chocolate is fabulous. Coffee brewed time is posted on the pots. The current price here for any size coffee is $$ ONE DOLLAR $. Put that in your time machine to see what year that price is from!

I love Stafford's! The drinks are delicious and seasonal chocolate items are amazing. The staff is always friendly. It's a fantastic place to meet others for coffee or study.

What a wonderful treasure in downtown Porterville. Beautiful wooden flooring, reclaimed flooring, great chocolate and amazing coffee! This is gonna be a place where you will find me frequently, enjoying a delicious coffee!

Great chocolates and service. Very yummy and fresh! Have given these chocolates and candies as gifts several times and they are always well received. The people who work here are so pleasant and helpful, just great service. They have several family owned businesses on the Central Coast as well, in San Luis Obispo (Mama Ganache) and Solvang (Swedish Candy Factory).

Growing up in Porterville, Stafford's was a great place to stop by for a treat. My grandmother would buy a ton of chocolate for our entire family during the holidays there. Larry was always so nice to us when we would pop in. Recently looked around for a Birthday surprise for my mom that could be delivered. She had been diagnosed with Covid-19 so, we could could not be with her on her Birthday. I was able to easily order online. Stafford's delivered her turtles to her a day after they were ordered, her Birthday. It made her day just a little more special. Thank you for giving great service. It is much appreciated and you will have a customer for life.

There's so much to choose from. Although the items are a bit pricey, they're worth every penny. You gotta check this place out downtown Porterville!

The elegant notes of spices accent the delicious milky chocolate topped off with the fluffy marshmallow center!!! Mah gooooooooooush it truly is a delight. The Irish Cream Truffle is everything you want in Irish Cream. Smooth, creamy chocolate to start. Sweet, Irish Cream flavor to finish. Aaaaaamazzzziiiinnng!!!!! The Peanut Butter Mummy Truffle is packed with rich peanut butter and a thick, creamy white chocolate that is a pleasure to the pallet!!! An awesome googley-eyed addition to their already deliciously presented arsenal! Give it a try and be smothered by their enticing endulgances!!!!!

The shop's atmosphere is is kind of new-old fashioned with a cozy seating area that looks like a fun place to chat with friends.

Pricey, but truly awesome sweets and iced coffee. Absolutely worth it!

Many different coverings and the apples are always fresh. I purchased some chocolates and they put them in a nice little box, with the top see thru so the person in giving them to can see just what they are getting. Their prices are reasonable for these special treats and the employees are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. I even got a free special treat for my birthday! They make nice custom boxes for gifting and the presentation is so nice no other wrapping or bows are needed. They also have a barista who makes special coffee drinks etc that are very nice for the cooler weather now. There are also tables you can sit at and visit with friends it just take a break while enjoying you drink and treat.

Nice place. Chocolate is good. Would like to go back and try the coffee. I usually stop at Reimers since I hike every weekend, but went up the other way and decided to try Stafford's. Dying to try a chocolate or caramel apple! Yummy!

I don't mind paying a lot for good chocolate, but it's tough to pay that much and have this experience. It’s a beautiful coffee shop, baristas are kind of airheads though. I ordered a dirty chai, the cup had dirty chai written on it, and I was charged for the espresso, yet what I received was a rather plain chai latte. No espresso and very little chai flavor. Maybe focus more on quality and not just aesthetics! :) I do want to mention that Pablo (I think that’s his name) told the other barista it was a dirty chai, so the error wasn’t on his part. He provided great service :)

Went in for a coffee yesterday and had a very unpleasant experience. As I entered the door, I was immediately welcomed with a horrible smell. As I walked further in and ordered, the smell only worsened. And I hate to point fingers, but it was definitely the homeless man sitting at one of the couches. The enjoyable and lovely environment that is usually of Staffords, was a very sour and unfortunate place to be yesterday. I felt terrible for the workers. I could tell they too were having a hard time dealing with the smell. As soon as I got my drink, I IMMEDIATELY left. I was hoping to stay and enjoy my coffee but unfortunately I could not. So disappointed.

I went to Staffords today to get myself a matcha and the lady who made it did not make it good at all. It was so powdery like she just dumped it in there and didn’t properly stir it and the whole time she was mumbling how she needed to leave immediately for something so she rushed making my drink and just left after. It wasn’t enjoyable at all because I could feel the powder with every sip I took. Usually love the matcha but not a fan of the lady behind the counter.
