great tasting coffee. i have a lot of issues with places having their lattes tasting watered down but not this one. excellent iced white chocolate fairly strong latte that makes up for them not lidding your drink by default and some uninviting seats
Had a cappuccino and it was delicious. Will definitely be back
Most delicious coffee I’ve had. The lavender is like a magic show in your taste buds. Actually every single flavor has been excellent each time. Cheers
Amazing Coffee! We were visiting from out of town and I wanted/needed a great cup of coffee. Preferred to support local and not get coffee from "that chain" 😊. We found this place based on reviews. Some of THE BEST coffee I've ever had. The shop is not pretentious. Simple and clean. If you want "foo foo" ambiance, go elsewhere. BUT...it's about the coffee right? Well, it should be anyway 😋. There's seating inside and outside. While the pastry display isn't impressive, they are delicious! But the coffee...is oh so amazing!! Perfect strength without any aftertaste or bitterness. I can't say that about other shops. I had a cappuccino and only wished I had gotten another. Loved it so much that I bought a bag of coffee to bring home with me. So very excited. Don't be fooled by it's simple decor. The coffee and pastries are amazing and the service/friendliness is wonderful. #SupportLocal #AmazingCoffee
Had the pumpkin spice latte which is made in house with pumpkins. The latte was made exceptionally well. Flavor was well balanced. Not too sweet with a hint fall. Will Definitely be back.
Happy to support local mom/pop type coffee shops. Quality in their beans and roast are evident when taking your first few sips. Kudos to the barista holding it down solo while still making quality coffee during a morning rush. First time here and will definitely return when I'm in the area. All Poway residents should ditch national coffee chains and see what quality roast/beans taste like.
This is mine and my spouse's favorite spot for GOOD coffee in Poway, maybe even all of San Diego. We've coming to Idego Coffee Roasters for a few weeks now and the drinks are always prepared with the best and freshest ingredients. It's so fresh, that sometimes the beans are roasted in preparation for our order. My usual orders are the spiced chai and Mayan mocha. I've also tried the monthly special for May, lavender latte. All my drinks are decaf and with oat milk and the flavor profiles are unlike any other latte I've ever had. I don't know how to describe it other than saying melody of flavors is such a beautiful, delicious blend. My spouse's usual orders are the flat white, latte, and pour over and he says he's spoiled now; he hasn't had any coffee as good elsewhere, Idego's is just so much better.
Awesome coffee, fresh and bags of beans, if I lived closer would get something from here very often, do recommend if you like real amazing coffee.
One of my all time favorite coffee places. The owner is very kind and we like to Homeschool here. There's a large world map on the wall as well. The coffee quality is yummy and they roast here.
Idego's my clear #1 pick for quality beans in the poway/rb area and the drinks are always great. The Mayan mocha isn't shy with the spice and it's addictive. It's a luxury to have super freshly-roasted beans so close to home -- the house Aurora blend is easy to brew a tasty cup with in my home pourover setup, and the rotating origins have been fun to mix it up.
If you love coffee and want a good cup of coffee go here.. Wife and brother in law and sister in law love this coffee shop. Paul the owner is. always pleasant and great to talk to. We have been going for a while. Hands down best coffee in San Diego or North County and I personally been to a lot of coffee shops. My go too hot vanilla latte with oat milk half sweet perfect every time . Haven't tried anything else but love this drink. Everyone go try it!! Go to Idego get a taste of what a real cup of coffee should taste like.
Saw this place on our drive and was hesitant on giving it a chance but our coffee cravings were too strong so we made the stop. We were skeptical given the menu was taped onto the wall but once we learned that their syrups were made from scratch we had a feeling this might be a hit and it definitely was!! We got one pumpkin spice and lavender coffee and both were delicious. Highly recommend checking them out if you’re in the area!!
If you care about the way your coffee tastes and someone who is very knowledgeable with their craft, look no further than Idego coffee. The owner was very nice, very knowledgeable, makes an amazing latte and the syrups are all homemade. Oat milk latte is amazing! Prices a very reasonable!
From out of town and was looking for some really good coffee. I had the Iced Americano with Mayan flavor and a touch of chocolate and a splash of cream. All their flavorings are made in house. The Mayan with the chocolate was recommended by the extremely nice and helpful barista man. Amazing. I hate to say: “best iced coffee of my life” for fear of sounding generic… but it seriously might be. So good. Simple menu. Easy to order. Just great tasting coffee. Highly recommend.
Visiting from out of town and very much picky about my coffee. Decided to try this place to give my money to a smaller business and was not disappointed in the slightest. The person working was super cool and had great customer service, the pastries were great, and the espresso was really well prepared. Totally thinking about bringing my laptop back here and seeing up for work while I'm in town!!
Solid little café with a limited menu emphasizing quality espresso. My friend loves how good their lattes are even without any sweetener, and I’m happy to see affogatto on their menu. Espresso holds up well on its own and in their drinks. Limited space indoors for those of you who like to work from a café! Thanks for the espresso and affogatto, Idego team!
This coffee shop is owned and staffed by great personable people. Their simple coffee menu is delivered by delicious coffee and with the price that makes you want to come back next time! Really thankful to have this coffee shop in Poway - please give it a try!
Lovely little coffee shop!! Pastries were delicious and the coffee was great. Atmosphere is very cute and trendy. A lovely place to grab coffee with friends, set up shop to work, or just stop by for a drink and a bite!!
Some of the best coffee!! The honey cinnamon house made syrup made for the best latte I’ve had!!! Super good signage for coffee and milk amounts. Perfect froth, perfect everything. Highly recommend. My friends had a flat white and a mexican mocha and both were superb as well.
Absolutely loved their flat white. There was acidity and depth of flavor to its coffee beans. They today their own beans. There's a couple of seats and free Wi-Fi. Highly recommend!
I drove down from LA desperate for coffee so I pulled aside to the nearest coffee shop, and now I have a favorite for the area! Two iced vanilla lattes, super delicious and right balance of sweet and creamy.
I was quite skeptical to go to this cafe as I rarely believe/trust a solid 5-star place - often paid reviews and too good to be true, but I was wrong about this place. Low key coffee shop in shopping plaza that offers damn good coffee. Lattes were amazing and definitely deserved 5 stars. Will be back tomorrow to try again and, if needed, adjust accordingly. ——— Second try….. And still Amazing 😁
Located next door to Five Guys is this simple yet high quality coffee roaster here in Poway! They roast their own beans and also source from all over. The flavors are bold, sweet, exotic and has a rich balance. I got the vanilla latte and it’s the best vanilla latte I’ve had! You could do a blind test and could taste the bold espresso shots and lavender fragrant. It also had the perfect amount of sweetness that wasn’t overly sweet and I drank it so fast that kept me on alert all day! Will definitely come back to try the Mayan mocha and draft latte!
A hidden gem with nice coffee options. The service is fast and the price is reasonable compared to big name brands. I tried different ones before but trying the mocha for the first time, I could taste the creamy chocolate very well but it was not sweet or sour at all.
Idego Coffee is a hidden gem in the city, offering a cozy and inviting atmosphere perfect for getting work done or catching up with friends The coffee selection is top-notch, with a variety of unique and flavorful options to choose from. Their baristas are skilled and knowledgeable, always willing to help you find the drink to suit your taste preferences. Not only is the coffee exceptional, but the food options at Idego Coffee are also delicious. From freshly baked pastries to hearty sandwiches, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality of the products you receive. Overall, Idego Coffee is a must-visit for any coffee lover looking for a relaxed and welcoming environment to enjoy a great cup of coffee. I highly recommend stopping by and experiencing all that Idego Coffee has to offer.
The coffee and lattes are excellent. Some of the best flavor and smoothness around Poway or San Diego for that matter. Small locally owned shop that roast their own beans. Paul the owner is always friendly and will customize your drink to what you want. Their large has 4 shots of espresso which is much for me so he makes it half caff. so I am not too wired. I love the spiced Mayan Mocha.
This is a hidden gem that shouldn’t be skipped in Poway. If you’re not into complicated over the top coffee themes this place is for you. My hot mocha and pumpkin spice was perfect topped with beautiful foam art. Owner is very nice and attentive
Coffee is delicious. The ambiance in the shop is lacking. Not exactly a, grab a girlfriend and catch up kinda place. But you will get spectacular coffee that you can take to the park or for a walk to enjoy.. there are some tables and seats inside but it’s mediocre. Chocolate croissants are good- but the chocolate inside is never melted and usually hard still. I rather like it though, oddly.. that crunch of Chocolate… but I do enjoy a good melted croissant.. Vanilla latte is my fav. I like the cappuccino too! Cold brew is yum also!

The atmosphere of the shop felt a little off but don’t mistake that for a sign of bad coffee. The barista was knowledgeable and nice. The coffee was very reasonably priced. I decided to get both a Flat White and a Mocha because I had a good feeling about it. I am so glad I did this is some of the best coffee I’ve had in San Diego. The milk was steamed just right and the flavor of the espresso shined through the Flat White. The mocha was also delicious, done very well and had a very interesting flavor
Service is excellent and their espresso drinks are smooth. We tried the Americano, almond milk latte, flat white and cappuccino and all drinks were perfect. In terms of dairy free options, they have Oatly and Califia Almond milk. There are four tables with seating for about 3-4 each but it's a cute coffee shop with quality drinks
I love this little coffee shop. I usually get an iced latte with oat milk and it's always smooth and strong. The owner is so nice and makes me feel at home while I'm there. They offer indoor and outdoor seating with a relaxed atmosphere. Please support your local coffee shops
If you like high quality single-origin coffee, this place is for you. They focus on coffee, not coffee-based favored drinks. You can also buy a bag of their freshly roasted beans, which they will grind for you. The owner has a great sense of humor!
We found Idego through some Google searching on day 1 of our 4 day vacation and ended up coming back every morning for the rest of the trip. Everything we had was very good and reasonably priced. Great espresso and milk drinks, drip and pour over was very flavorful, and the matcha option was also delicious. Top place!
My wife and I were fans of Idego in Blacksburg, VA back when we went to college. Now, we’re so lucky they’re in Poway!! The coffee is awesome, the owner is really friendly, and the prices are really great. We’ll definitely be coming back :)
I’ve been here a few times now and every time the drinks have been fantastic. The owner is so kind and always makes us feel welcome. I 100% recommend coming here for your morning coffee!!

Only missing a star due to the vibe. Please get a human that that speaks the language of ambiance and turn up the cozy volume one or two notches. There's a Michael's and a Petco and a salon in this mall and I bet you could do more business than you're doing now with a little more attention to that aspect. Even just warm lighting makes all the difference. And I'd switch out how you market your bags - go more organic, less glossy - I didn't even know the beans actually got roasted on the premises. Maybe put that story on the wall - ANYTHING to add a human element to engage with here would help. The beans are great! Walk into Compa in RB to get a sense for the contrast. They're telling a story, connecting to the neighborhood - and filling a niche left wide open by the coffee chains.
I've been to a lot of coffee shops in foreign countries. I want to say that the coffee is smooth, the roast is not too dark, for which thanks, but the beans are not delightful. The general interior, too, without delight. Please buy a normal menu, pasted papers do not look solid) The croissant wasn't fresh. And furniture do not fit the overall style of the institution. In general, the institution is positive, I advise all locals to visit. My advice to owners, keep an eye on filling the shelves with coffee. People want to buy coffee at home, the shelves should be full of coffee beans, it will raise the total check.
To be honest, writing this review feels a bit difficult for some reason😀 Let me start by saying that we found this coffee shop through reviews on Google Maps. Of course, we looked at the ratings and photos, especially how the coffee is prepared — we pay close attention to how the drinks look, and whether they do latte art. The main highlight that drew us in was the fact that they roast their own coffee beans on-site🥰However, when we arrived, the interior design felt very ordinary. Just a regular setup — some tables inside and some outside. Everything was okay. One thing I really appreciated was that the barista asked whether I wanted my matcha latte sweetened or not👍 That’s important to me, since places often add syrup by default without noting it on the menu, and I personally don’t like sweet drinks. As for the drinks themselves — they were just okay, honestly. I can’t give this place a full 5 stars. I’ve definitely had better matcha and coffee elsewhere, but what they serve here is still good — solid quality. Again, the fact that they roast their own beans is a big plus. As for the matcha latte specifically, it had a bit of a strange aftertaste. I’m not sure if it was the type of matcha or maybe the milk, though I doubt it was the milk. It was fine, but something felt slightly off. Oh — and I almost forgot, we also got a chocolate croissant, which unfortunately seemed like it wasn’t fresh. that was a bit disappointing😕

The coffee was good. But I'd encourage everyone else to get their coffee to go until they up their game on creating an inviting space. I enjoyed the Mayan iced, it was really delicious. It was just the right amount of sweetness with a tiny bit of spice. It was also inexpensive relatively. Loved it! Makes me want to go back just to try another drink. There was free wifi and chairs, but it wasn't cozy coffee shop vibes. No cute stickers or paraphernalia that you could get that made you feel like you belonged to a place. The decor away from the coffee bar left a lot to be desired and the map painting needed another coat of paint. In general, the weight of the room felt off, and it was empty almost the whole morning I was there. Private can be nice, but not in this case. It felt like a hotel lobby or even like a yogurt shop, where you just want to get out. Everyone else who stopped in got their coffee to go. Thankfully, it wasn't a jaring space, or else I would have left. Just plain and I felt stuck-to-wall. There were also a couple outdoor tables that looked shared with the burger joint and I did see an open outlet near one of the counters/walls for those hoping to keep their laptop charged. The bathroom was clean. The service was quick and polite. Not friendly or conversational, but definitely not rude. It was good. For more like this, follow @sdcoffeetour
