@obriensbakerysd has such a cozy vibe that perfectly matches the holiday season. The food was delicious—I loved my avocado toast, and the idea of offering three different kinds of toast is such a fun touch. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the Poway area!
Come here often with my daughter for lunch and dessert. I recommend the Ceasars salad, the BLT and all the dessert. The bread are really if you want a specific bread it suggest calling ahead to make sure its there or order the day before. I sometimes get their challah bread which isn't one of the loaf they have every day so I call ahead so they can have it made for me when I pick. This time we got the caramel cheese cake and chocolate brownie.
Perfect spot for breakfast or brunch, whether you’re coming alone or with friends. The menu offers plenty of creative dishes that will keep you delighted, all enjoyed in a spacious and beautifully decorated setting. The selection of baked goods and desserts is endless—tempting treats that are almost impossible to name. Morning cocktails, tasting flights, specialty coffee, and a full range of beverages make the experience even more complete. On the second floor, where the main dining area is located, you can watch the team bake their signature breads. There’s ample parking, and the outdoor dining area with tents creates a relaxing atmosphere for sunny days. It’s also a great place for remote workers or digital nomads: plenty of comfortable tables by the windows, perfect for working without feeling bored. A house coffee paired with one of their signature pastries or cakes is the ideal fuel for productivity.
Had to post a huge THANK YOU to O'Brien's for our Thanksgiving meal. This year we decided to buy the holiday meal from them, it came with very clear instructions, beautifully packaged, and I have to say, one of the best turkey dinners and sides I've had in my long life. Turkey was moist, the whole house smelled of rosemary. Yams, mashed potatoes/gravy, brussel sprouts, stuffing, rolls. It was the best pumpkin pie I've ever tasted (I'm not a pumpkin fan but I had to try it). The extra apple pie we ordered was amazing. We weren't sure on our head count with schedules, which was why we decided to try this meal. We thought maybe 7, but ended up with 11, but it was enough and we had leftovers. This was going to be a one time decision, but the food was so delicious we are talking about doing it again next year. 😁 If so, we get extra mashed potatoes and stuffing in case we get extra people again. We go to O'Brien's for their breakfast (they've got a good burrito) and espresso scone. They have great desserts. Just wanted to post a thank you though on the EXCELLENT holiday meal. It along with the incredible San Diego weather with great people made this Thanksgiving especially wonderful.
We visited our kids who live in Poway and found this place on Labor Day. It's a gem! We were surprised to find this place next to all the office buildings. All the breakfast / brunch items were really delicious. Their pastries look inviting (apricot, mango danish, and croissants). We also liked the high ceiling seating area.
This was a long overdue first trip to O'Brien's Boulangerie, and it did not dissapoint. The bakery is organized, well lit, and welcoming. I ordered the apricot pastry, the chocolate eclaire, and the guava cheesecake. Everything was delicious! There are so many great choices! If you like pastries, you will love this spot. The staff is very nice and helpful. They serve food like any other restaurant, but I was here for the pastries. The parking lot can be a bit tricky depending on the time of day, but there is street parking as well. I can't wait to come back and try their huge sticky buns and other pastries! Eat up!!!
Delightful dinner/small plates service. Food and drinks were well thought out. Full flavor and good balance of texture. Amanda and the full staff were all so friendly and welcoming. You gotta try OBrien’s at night!
My friend invited us on a double date to a coffee place that also serves good meals, since my husband and I don’t drink coffee. The place was really nice, it had both indoor and outdoor seating, plus an upstairs area. It was packed, which is always a good sign! I ordered the corned beef hash and eggs, as well as the All-American sampler, both were delicious. We also tried the Almond Joy drink, and my husband had a mimosa. The servers were friendly and easy to talk to. Overall, it was definitely worth visiting for a tasty and enjoyable brunch.
The food was wonderful with large portion sizes. We ordered the Guava Jewel (10/10, highly recommend), Pecan Cinnamon Roll (recommend), Ultimate Breakfast Croissant Sandwich (recommend), Avocado Toast Trio (10/10, highly recommend), Milky Way coffee (8/10 — good, but I’d try something else next time), and Almond Joy coffee. For everything we ordered it came out to about $75. Service is minimal — someone brings your food, but don’t expect frequent check-ins. The wait in line was about 30–45 minutes to order food and drinks. They do have a mobile app, but it doesn’t include everything on the menu. The atmosphere is cozy but limited on space, with a few indoor tables and an outdoor tent seating area. You can tell they make the most of what they have. Overall, I’ll definitely be coming back — great food and worth the visit!
This cafe delivers a fresh breakfast for breakfast and great for meeting a friend for brunch. The pastries are fresh, flaky, and just sweet enough and perfect with their rich, well-crafted coffee. Whether you go for a croissant or a seasonal danish, it’s clear they use quality ingredients. The breakfast options are simple but delicious, eggs on toast, avocado Benedict. Everything feels fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Add in the warm, welcoming atmosphere, best thing is you get to see how they bake with see through window from the 2nd floor. It is very Instagram friendly, service is amazing and it’s a great place to start your day.
We had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful breakfast at this newly discovered gem. Ample parking is available in the lot, and the restaurant itself offers extensive seating options. The ordering process is efficiently streamlined, with counter service and self-seating. The staff exhibited exceptional friendliness, and the menu boasts an impressive diversity of options. Our party thoroughly savored the Classic Breakfast Burrito, Short Rib Benedict, Avocado Benedict, and the Blueberry Banana Pancakes, which we shared. Additionally, the coffee drinks were a highlight, with an Iced Mocha and a hot Latte being particularly enjoyed.
Loved this place! From the spot on service to the delicious food! We had the breakfast croissant and cinnamon roll french toast - yum!! Also took home a box of tasties!tastiest! Go upstairs and get a tavle to eat and check out the bakers doing their thing- highly recommend this spot!
Wow!! We had our food delivered, took a few bites, looked each other in the eyes and both said “We will be back again!” The food is delicious and beautiful to look at. We split Eggs Benedict with short ribs and a lobster roll. E then took a box of treats home to enjoy later for s birthday
I went out of my way to find a good sourdough boule here since there is nothing decent in North County, except for the fantastic boules at Whole Foods in Del Mar. Here the only regular sourdough is a large rectangular loaf, which they'll slice for you. It's very good, but not the same as a boule with the chewy super tasty interior and crispy crust. They do have a rosemary flavored boule which I'll have to try next time. They also off a wide range of other bread types and a great assortment of fancy pastries. Another visit is in order, including lunch from their great looking menu. Parking is a bit of a challenge with a small lot in front, but there is more around back and what looks like an empty lot next door.
First time coming to O'Brien's after seeing some neighbors that recommended this place. This was every bit as good as we were told and then some. I had the beef and cheese, which was amazing. Tender and very flavorful beef with yummy melted cheese. My wife had the grilled chicken panini. She loved her sandwich. Everything tastes very fresh and delicious with great service. We were so full that we didn't have room to try dessert but did purchase some to take home. The upstairs has a view of the bakery which is very impressive. Can't wait to come back to try breakfast.
We went on a Sunday morning, it was crowded but we got a table relatively fast. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The assortment of breads and breakfast / lunch options were delicious. We went for the lobster roll and avocado toast trio. Also had honey cinnamon coffee and a Latte. It was a hit!

Probably the best bakery I've been to in my 11 years of living in the US. Chocolate custard croissant,Cubano panini and short rib sandwich were the best we've ever had.
Perfect brunch spot with a beautiful pastry selection and great packaging for taking treats home. I've never been disappointed by any sandwich, breakfast item, pastry , or coffee here. There's plenty of seating available upstairs, as well as outdoor under the shade. It can get busy on weekends, but if you arrive before 10am, you'll have the best selection and little to no wait.

Stopped by for brunch with a friend. The menu is just big enough to not be overwhelmed while also offering a great variety of sweet and savory items. We got a pistachio croissant, mango cheese danish, almond croissant, and jalapeño turkey croissants. No complaints regarding the pastries as they were flakey, fresh, and not too sweet! We also got the breakfast croissant which was perfect to share. The sandwich itself was yummy though a tad heavy from the garlic aioli (I would get it on the side next time). We also got a hot chai latte and a hot rose chai latte since we heard the chai was made in-house. I would not recommend either of these drinks as they mostly just tasted like milk. Service is notable and wonderful. Seating area upstairs has a nice and welcoming atmosphere.

The CREAM CHEESE PINEAPPLE MOUSSE was bliss; and I love the Mango Cheesecake. The employees are just as sweet and hard working as ever! I really want to try more on their menu. The Burger and Eggs Benedict are calling my name. 2023: I love the SOUTHERN STYLE FRIED CHICKEN SANDWICH. It had so much flavor and the home made fries were fantastic! I think I will skip the cheese next time, just a preference. It had bbq mayo, jalapeño slaw (not too spicy), really good dill pickles, an amazing bun…it's my kind of sandwich. The Orange Chocolate and Cranberry Scones, Danishes, Lemon Poppyseed Muffin and the Apple Tart were all delicious. The Almond Croissant was good, but I wouldn't repeat the Tiramisu -not much flavor and a bit dry. The specialty coffees I have tried were pretty weak and not much flavor, so I would need to try a few more before I find one I would repeat. They have really nice seating choices inside or out. And the staff is so sweet, helpful and hardworking. I love this place.
Everything was delicious and the staff was lovely. I had the Italiano sandwich with fries, a salted butterscotch latte (phenomenal), and took a chocolate croissant and eclair to go. The only downside is that the seating area isn't nearly large enough (inside or outside) and neither is the parking lot. If that was fixed, this place would be *chef's kiss*!
Not sure why ratings are high, i give this spot 1.5 stars. Presentation is good as proof by the pics, but food is just OK. Its way too expensive for just OK. Some of the food items were very good like the corned beef hash & eggs and the avocado trio. My biggest complaint is that this is a bakery and their baked goods were horrible. The pecan sticky bun was so dry, kind of hard, & even after warming it, none of us cared for it. French toast might as well been from ihop. The matcha cake was was super dry and didn't taste like matcha, simply green cake. All of the food items were very bland except for the corned beef hash. Everyone had to salt their food or/and add hot sauce to give it flavor. My kid said the matcha latte tasted like milk with sugar, no matcha taste at all. Wife liked the Honey Cinnamon. I got drip coffee, $5 for 8oz cup, refills $3. That part annoyed me. Most diners and breakfast spots have free refills on drip coffee. Upstairs dinning area is small but there was a table available, which needed clearing. An employee was restocking cups and stir sticks at the water station and was kind of scanning the room. I assumed he was available and when i asked if he could clear the table, he got an attitude. After clearing and wiping the table there was still food items on it. There were no napkins available so i went to the restroom to get paper towels to wipe off the table cause there was no one around. As far as the food, the one positive is that it did come out quickly.
Heard great reviews about this place so I decided to give it a try. Disappointed to say the least. About $60 before tip. I was going to try some pastries but was told that they’re on the sweet side so I skipped. Lobster roll: 2/5. Lobster meat was kind of dry and didn’t taste fresh. It was served on a french toast, IMO they don’t go well together. Very meh. Avocado benedicts: 2/5. Spouse is a huge fan of egg benedicts and this was the most below average benedicts he’s ever had. Side of fried potatoes was soggy and at room temperature. Clam chowder: 3/5. This was the only decent tasting dish of the meal. However, the slice of bread that came with it tasted old, not fresh bread. Lemongrass chamomile tea: 2/5. There was no lemongrass flavor whatsoever. I could barely taste the chamomile. It was very water down. Not sure why people praised this place so much. I wonder where and what kind of food they have been eating. Such a waste of money for me.
