Lovely late afternoon experience. Followed the music up the stairs while looking for a late afternoon drink and bite. Ended up enjoying more than expected. Great service, quality food and fantastic cocktails. The servers went out of their way for our son to enjoy himself as well. Would reccomend and would return to try more cocktails

This is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at when I'm in Puerto Vallarta. The food and drinks are delicious and the staff is great. I ordered the table side Cesar salad and it was one of the best I've had. Their flaming Mexican coffees are a sight to behold and tasty too! The rooftop patio had great ambiance and the live music added a nice touch. We celebrated a birthday here and they made the night very special.

We came across No Way Jose because of the Google reviews. It just happened that they had been closed for a few weeks and just reopened a day before we showed up. We're so glad it was open because we had an amazing experience. The owner Jose was there and he was the host and guided us through the menu. We both had the spicy margaritas, which were fabulous. Then we had to get the table side Caesar salad (see pictures) which may be the highlight of our visit to PV. For the main course we each had seafood dishes. Both were wonderful with great sauces and the potatoes on the side we're out of this world. This would have been a $150+ dinner back in Houston but was quite reasonable. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for something a bit more upscale in PV.

This was my first time here and we will definitely be going back! They had live music that was an added treat! Pictured is a Mexican Mule....you need only one. The drink goes way into the boot. Our food was delicious and the service was also very good. The owner stopped by the table to greet us. Check it out.

From the moment we arrived, he made us feel like family—literally greeting us with, “Welcome home.” The restaurant is uniquely set on an upstairs terrace, and the ambiance felt like dining in Jose’s own home. In fact, I told my partner this could easily be an Airbnb experience—dinner at Jose’s! The food? Traditional Mexican cuisine at its finest. It was delicious, clean, and packed with incredible flavors. Plus, it’s super convenient—just a 5-minute drive or a 20-minute walk from the Romantic District. I can’t recommend this place enough. If you want to support a passionate local chef who genuinely loves sharing his love of food, you have to visit Jose. We’ll definitely be back! Great service, we been before and always has been a great night, delicious Cesar Salad prepared at the table, we enjoy a lot our mango Margaritas, we had the opportunity to hear live much, highly recommended for a Mexican taste.

Jose is not only a pleasant host, a great chef and nice man, he has also brought with him everything from No Way Jose that made it a gem. The tableside Caesar salad remains unbeatable. It's a must go place to dine.

My husband and I had a great experience at OkJose! The restaurant is located on a cozy and casually elegant rooftop terrace above Jose’s home in the neighborhood just east of Zona Romantica. We took an uber, as it is off the beaten path, and it felt like a special experience from the moment we arrived and were greeted by Jose and Gustavo. We were there on a Friday night and enjoyed the atmosphere and live music - the singer had a beautiful voice and her song selection was on point. We loved the tableside Caesar, which was prepared by Jose himself, who was doing triple duty behind the bar, as well as singing an occasional song. He has an amazing voice as well! The meal was superb and artfully presented, and we appreciated the warm hospitality and lively ambiance throughout the meal. We were truly treated like VIP regulars even though it was our first time there. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great meal and a unique experience in PV. Thank you Jose and Gustavo and the entire team at OkJose!

This restaurant is a hidden gem! The menu is interesting. The quality and presentation is exceptional and pricing is reasonable. The first impression of the building can be off-putting. It's an unusual building among lower quality buildings, but don't let that concern you. The interior space is magical and intimate with great views of PV. Jose is an amazing host with a passion for fine food and hospitality. His staff is attentive and friendly. Plan to take time to enjoy the meal and hospitality.

Seriously, tell me you can’t take a 5 minute Uber ride from the Romantica for a fun meal like this? What a great place in the Las Penas neighborhood of PV. Jose moved from the Romantica awhile back and this is definitely worth the trip. I always order the Chiles en Nogada with Shrimp. (Where else can you find something this delicious for around 20 bucks.) The drinks are exceptional and we enjoyed the Jerry Thomas-like “Blue Blazer” coffee for dessert.

This place is one of my favorites to visit when I am in Vallarta. My husband and I always bring our guests to OK Jose's and it never disappoints. From the spectacular service and beautiful ambiance, the owner always greats us like family and makes us feel welcome. The food is flavorful, delicious and always has a beautiful presentation. The best food we had on our trip! Between us we had chicken enchiladas, aguachili, pollo en molé, and grilled fish. Everything was inspired, perfectly balanced, simply delicious! The kids were huge fans too! Jose was a great host as if we’d been invited to dine at his private home. Highly recommend this restaurant. They have music on weekends and some weeknights.

I don't understand why this restaurant isn't more popular than it already is. The food was amazing, margaritas were strong but not overwhelming, and the service was so attentive and warm. Prices are slightly higher, but you get what you pay. Highly recommend the passion fruit margaritas, and chili in nogada.

This is easily my favorite restaurant in Puerto Vallarta. I’ve come every year for the past six years, and the quality has always remained top tier. Excellent Mexican cuisine with Michelin-level presentation, within a comfortable price range ($$/$$$) for a fantastic dining experience. Absolutely must try the Caesar salad (made from scratch at the table) and bananas flambé (stellar presentation + prepared at the table). Jose is a fantastic restaurant owner and brings so much charm, quality, and authenticity to the PV dining scene. The live music adds a great energy to the ambiance as well (huge fan of Beverley). Visited for our final dinner in PV this year. We've dined at about 20 exclusive and authentic restaurants over the last 4 years, celebrating anniversaries and birthdays. The food and service was amazing. Definitely in the top 2. Carlos and Ernesto took great care of us and food was beyond our imagination for such an intimate place. Carlos made great table, drink and food recommendations and we were not disappointed at with any. I recommend you dine here forr a special occasion to remember. Hats off to the chef, Isaac Navarro and bartender.

Vegetarian tower and enchiladas also good. Yummy tortilla soup. The table side Caesar salad, banana flambé or special coffees provide some entertainment. Talented live music on busy nights. Make a reservation. It is on a rooftop with part open air so good for a Covid time restaurant. We’ll be back!!!

The most amazing recommendation from New friends met at where were staying! The location is unassuming, however once you get to the top of the stairs you are welcomed in a wicked space of textures and character. The staff are attentive yet not at all intrusive. The tortilla soup was heaven; the margaritas were flavourful and the strength of a true Mexican marg; the stuffed pablano pepper dish was to die for; then the flaming banana dessert topped the experience. If ever in PVR, it is a MUST - you will regret it!

Excelente comida, muy agradable ambiente y servicio, buenas margaritas, si agregaran más tequila estarían mucho mejor, el día en que teníamos planeado cenar ahí el restaurante, estaba cerrado por que tenían una fiesta familiar, con motivo de las posadas, pero el anfitrión muy amablemente nos hizo una reservación para el siguiente día, muchas gracias, y gracias a Niño por encender los candelabros eso le da un ambiente muy romántico al lugar, una experiencia única cada vez que les visitamos, por cierto gracias al extraño de la mesa vecina por enviarme al trío de músicos que me cantaron una canción hermosa y bien ejecutada, aunque a mi pareja no le hizo tanta gracia🤭😜 que un extraño me dedicara tal canción,, jajajaja volveremos pronto, felices fiestas merry Christmas and Happy new year 2021

I've always loved this restaurant. It is the first place that I ever had chicken tortilla soup, and I've been hooked on tortilla soup ever since! The owner is an amazing person and is personally welcoming to all guests. Unfortunately, the service as well as some dishes have slipped over the past few years, and while that will not prevent me from returning, it is causing some in my party to question their return saying, "if the owner would put more effort into perfecting the food and service rather singing up on stage it could make the difference". I say give it a try and decide for yourself.

Highlights: lots of credit for the warm ambience, live music, friendly owner/staff, and the drama of the flaming coffee for example. Unfortunately, I had a mixed experience here. Constructive criticism: please include prices on your menu on the website and this Google profile. I get that sometimes prices change, but that’s the case with every restaurant. It’s only fair to the potential client to have a better idea before heading there. Food: Although I enjoyed the food for the most part, the vegetables were quite disappointing—they tasted like boiled from frozen.

Food dangerous to your health served here. We had a confirmed reservation for five. When we arrived they hurried to put a table together as they had not prepared for our arrival. The table was in a tight corner beside a loud speaker. Cutlery was missing, as was table napkins and glasses for several in our group. We waited 20 minutes and finally we went to ask if they were going to come with menus, and offer drinks. This resulted in a fleury of activity and we got, bread (though it was chilled in the center) drinks offered and they took our order. The music blasted through the speaker over our heads making conversation almost impossible. The owner told one of our group that they were short staffed because of the carnival. (Perhaps they should have refused our reservation rather than try and serve us since they were understaffed and knew that in advance). That all said the food finally arrived looking rather good, but one meal was forgotten and the person had to wait to eat till others had entirely finished their meals. The firgotten meal was served very late. They ate the chicken only to discover near the end that the chicken was not fully cooked it was raw in the middle. We showed the raw meat the waiter, who asked if we wanted it cooked more? Our member had eaten raw chicken and the waiter seemed unconcerned. He actually took it to the kitchen and removed the raw portion and brought it back. He was surprised that we wouldn’t eat it further. We complained to Jose the owner who also seemed unconcerned and said « oh sorry about that ». The bill was presented with the raw chicken meal still included. It’s clear that serving uncooked chicken is not an issue for Ok Jose. So we found the service extremely poor client service horrible and the food could clearly be said to be dangerous to one’s health.

Experiencia muy desagradable en conjunto. Orgullosamente mexicano, nos dan carta en inglés. Los precios demasiado caros: pollo con mole 280 pesos... . Una hora para servir tu platillo. El pollo de color morado, al quitarle el pellejo se quedó sin mole...??? Pieza muy pequeña, evidentemente era carne congelada. El mesero pregunta, que tal el servicio... Al decirle, se molesta. Nos habían guardado 2 mochilas, ya no no las regresaron, fuimos por ellas. Conclusión : Mal producto, precio elevado, mal servicio, mala atención, relación calidad / costo no es acorde.
