the food is kinda pricey but very good. the service was excellent, even for our above-average sized group. lisa is the best, a sweet and attentive woman that i appreciate a lot

Great Thanksgiving meal

Beer battered fish fry - truly a game changer! Unique but enjoyable house made tartar sauce, too. Seriously though, the beer battered fish fry..... ya gotta try it!

Jenn our usual server is wonderful. And the soups that Carl makes are always out of this world! Beer battered fish fry is our go to but everything else we try is always so good. Food quality is top notch! Going out to eat is getting so expensive but I don’t mind treating ourselves if the food , atmosphere and service is great like at the Elmwood! We are never disappointed.

Although it seemed like there was only one waitress for our half of the restaurant, there was no doubt she was hustling to do her best and apologizing she couldn't be faster. She was cheerful and friendly and in no way grumpy so we felt a lot os sympathy for her. Right after leaving the restaurant, we went to a store to make a return and they had a sign on the door apologizing for being closed because they couldn't get the staff. The world has changed since Covid! By the way, the food was excellent and we were seated next to a burning fireplace. Wonderful ambiance!

Loved the atmosphere on the deck outside. Our waitress Jodee was so nice, fun and attentive. The drinks were good. I had a summer sangria that was very delicious and refreshing. The food was great too. They offered us a buy one entree get one free. So that's why we decided to give this place a go. I'm glad we did. We had an amazing time with food and drinks.

I went there Sunday evening and had the fish fry. I have to say it was just OK. I had better fish fries. But the service there at the bar was immaccurate. The bartender was extremely kind, nice and down to earth (not egotistic and/or demanding). The service made for such a wonderful night that I overlooked the food being just OK. Next time I go there I am going to have to tip more that bartender more. The person i went there with is going threw something and couldn't afford to pay a tip. I didn't want him to feel bad so i didn't pay extra for his share. The bartender didn't care, she smiled brightly and said, "take care, drive safe." Not even caring whether she got a tip or not. if I see her again i have to make up for my friend that night. I'm not sure if all the bartenders are like that there. But, that night the bartender was perfect. If you're looking to just hang out at a restaurant in a good relaxing environment. I would highly suggest going here.

I've been coming to Elmwood Inn for almost 10 years. The service is consistently friendly and attentive. No matter what I order the food is always delicious. I have often recommended EI, in fact, I dined with a friend I brought with me a few years ago. She also signed up for Royalty Rewards because she enjoyed herself so much. Last night was no exception, our dinner was delightful! Thank you! Most recent visit: I have never had a bad dining experience at Elmwood Inn, so I could only rate them as better and best. This dinner was no exception, the fish fry and the fries were delightfully crispy, and delicious! Our waitress, Jennifer, was very sweet and attentive, there before we realized we needed anything. I love to bring my family here for birthdays and other special events. Gino and Lisa are fantastic wait staff. However - my grandchildren were devastated when they found out that the Brookies were discontinued. There was no child friendly substitute. Please bring back the Brookie so I can keep bringing my family here!!

My husband and I really enjoy dining at Elmwood Inn. The food never disappoints. Catherine, our server, was always stopping by to check on us to see if we needed anything. She was also such a big help to me since it was my first time using the points/reward app Update 2/2/2023: Desiree was excellent making sure we had everything we needed. The food was excellent and arrived to the table quickly and hot. I had the battered fish fry (again) and my husband had the sirloin steak done perfectly as requested medium rare. Really…just try it for yourself!

Always delicious food with exceptional and professional service. I often go early in the week and there is only one front staff and she does a superb job. I often have the grain bowl which is delicious and my husband has the Mac and cheese which is also delicious but very rich.

This is my 4th visit to the Elmwood Inn. Although I don’t remember what I had previously ordered, I do know that it was hot, fresh and delicious. Otherwise, I would have never returned. Tonight my husband and I each ordered the Beer battered haddock fish fry. The fish was fresh,the batter was perfect and the fries were excellent! Both were served piping hot. The coleslaw was also good. This is the best fish fry I have had in a long time. Another plus is the fish fry is on the menu every day so we were happy to have it on a weekday! Our server was nice and attentive. We plan on returning soon.

We made a reservation for 20 for lunch and anything over 8 requires management approval. Not a problem! We got there and were greeted, and sat right away. They had one server on who was gracious and quick. She served our large party and the rest of the restaurant with ease. Food was good, well portioned for lunch, and the drinks menu was balanced and not overwhelming. Thank you Jody and the Elmwood Inn!

My husband and I met at the Elmwood Inn November of 1988. We decided to drop in for a drink and dinner. It’s had many beautiful updates and the menu has grown. Due to covid the waitress was also the bartender yet remained efficient and very cheerful. The drink selections were great and the food was delicious. We will be back again soon!

The food is excellent... Always! Your fries are the best we've ever had anywhere. So crunchy and flavorful on the outside while moist and soft on the inside as they should be. Your servers have all been very friendly and likeable. When we've been there for the fish fry, it was the same way. Beautiful, crisp beer batter on the outside and tender moist fish on the inside. I'm happy we tried you this summer.

Stopped in to the Elmwood Inn, having not visited for decades, for lunch and was reminded why I used to go there frequently back in the day. Had a beer and a sandwich with my son. Service was great, the sandwich was delicious, and the fries remain superior.

We stopped in for dinner and had a fish fry and broiled Cajun fish dinner. Both were excellent as always. Our server always helps with recommendations and wants to please the customer. We love the choice of sides and the macaroni salad is excellent!

I hadn't been to the Elmwood Inn in a while, so I thought I'd stop by on a warm, end-of-winter Saturday afternoon. Des, the bartender, knows her regulars. so within moments of my sitting down, I had a Sam Adams in front of me. She also asked if I wanted my usual Chicken Caesar wrap, which of course, I did. it was a fine lunch and a fine way to spend a little time on a nice day. I look forward to when you start having food specials again, though.

My favorite waitress (server) was on today which always makes for an enjoyable dining experience. Friendly service, cozy environment, great atmosphere. and excellent food - what's not to like? That's why we keep coming back. This is my second review in a year and things were as good today as last time I left a review.

Our waitress was excellent !! We had a very large group of people and she took very good care of us. I don't know how she kept it all straight. Although the Caesar salad was just okay. But other people's food looked delicious next time I will try a burger. And I saw quite a few people at the bar having their french onion soup, and it looked good. Oh, and the bartender was also doing a great job.

Portions are bigger than I expected, food was excellent, really a classic place to have some classic Americana.

First time and I loved it! Cool vibe in that old building. Service was friendly. Food surpassed what one might call “bar food”. I got the turkey club which hit just as I wanted. French dip my wife got was quality too. Onion rings and fries were great. Can’t wait to try more things on the menu.

We are always so welcomed and feel at home when we come here. This is our place to go after a long days work. The food is always solid. Amazing beer selection.. and best of all amazing service. A group of about 30 of us went there after a funeral service. It was an above average experience. The servers went out of their way to accommodate everyone, and the food was superb! My wife and I will make sure we return.

I love this place. It’s always so low key and the food is always nothing but great every time. I have yet to have a bad meal here. Regardless if it’s dine in or take out. Wings are DELICIOUS the sauces are really good. Also highly recommend their steak salad. The soups have also not disappointed. Changes daily.

Food is overall very good, significantly better than most other food in the area and priced mostly reasonably. Beer selection could be a bit better but is pretty standard for the area. Service is where this place shines, staff is extremely friendly and attentive (at least at the bar). Has a pretty large group of regulars and it's pretty obvious why, this place has nailed it's pub culture. Overall if you like local bars/restaurants I would definitely give it a shot.

Haven't been here in years, last time was when wing night was $0.15/wing! Floored by how well the menu has grown, how nice the layout now is and just overall quality of everything. Definitely a great 0lace for business lunch, family dinner or after work drinks. I'll be back for sure.

However, I held a private event on a Saturday, and let me tell you, service was impeccable, food was hot, served on time, and accommodations were met for those with food sensitivities. Great place to visit regularly for low key, friendly, local bite to eat. Menu isn't huge but all the food is great (wish they still had the crab cakes!). Good selection of beers. Bar side can have a moderate hum of noise but other side quiet. Staff are friendly and witty, understanding of sensory needs. If you're looking for a reasonably priced place with great food, chill vibes, and local feel, this is the kind of place you can return to again and again.

This was my second time to the Elmwood Inn and I was not disappointed. My buddy and I came out for their Friday Fish Fry and it was great! One of the very best we've had in a long time. We were seated quickly (no reservations), even though it was fairly busy (the parking lot was almost completely filled). Our server, Christine was attentive and friendly. I had the Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter with the beer batter Fish Fry and my buddy had the Ellicottville Blood Orange Ale with the Panko Breaded Fish Fry. We both had the onion rings and cole slaw for our sides with tartar sauce in a separate cup. The fish was well cooked, fresh made and delicious. The onion rings were also great! If you're looking for a great Fish Fry on a Friday night, you won't go wrong at the Elmwood Inn, I'd recommend you give it a try.

Such a hidden gem! We went for a late lunch on a cold rainy February day. We got a table next to the fire place. So nice! I had some soup then a hot sandwich and fries. Just the comfort I needed on a dreary day. Our waitress Deana was awesome. She was so nice and attentive. And I was super impressed because she was the only one working and she was bartender AND waitress!! I would definitely go again!

This place is a hidden gem. Excellent food. Reasonable prices. Decent beer selection (although id like to see that expanded). In the bar area there are ample TVs to make everyone happy. I went with the wings, extra crispy, which were cooked to perfection. My wife did the garbage plate. She liked the plate but to my personal preference there was some slightly off about the meat hot sauce. Too much cinnamon? Anyway, like I said that personal preference because my wife thought the sauce was amazing. We'll go back again without hesitation.

Great food! Great service! The salt and vinegar fries are a must try! So much to explore on the menu: French Onion Soup to a Not a Garbage plate with the best burger blend I’ve ever seen (brisket, short ribs and chuck burger). The outside patio was perfect spot to enjoy a meal and a beer.

Nice pleasant quiet mid week dinning experience. My wife and I enjoyed a quiet dinner (No music or crowd noise that drowned out your conversation). Portions were good and meal was brought out in a timely manner (no long wait). I had the Fish Fry which was good but There is stiff competition in Rochester area on Fish fry meals from other sit down restaurants. So I have to come back try some other dishes. The fries and slaw were excellent. The space is such that you can get a quiet corner or sit at the bar where all the hubbub is happening. The bar didn't intrude on the quiet spaces. Parking lot is easy to access from Mt Hope or the side street. Will be back.

First timer…Pretty good fish nice size needed some flavor to it tho, the tea was horrible no matter how many packets of sugar was put in it, fries were great and I can’t complain about the coleslaw either, service was great, food came out fast and the waitress was very nice and helpful. Great food, great service, the fish fry is excellent, this is our go to place when we can't decide where to go. You are always welcome here. The bar is spacious and bright with tvs on each side in case you want to watch a game or whatever might be on. They do take out as well, you pick it up at the bar.

Servers were wonderful! Bacon and blue chicken sandwich was good, needed a little mayo to add more flavor. Mac-n-cheese was delicious but could be better with breadcrumbs or green onions on top. Loaded potato was very good, also could use some green onions. All in all, would recommend.

It was pretty good. The food wasn't bad and the waitress was very nice. We were there for lunch on a cold day so there weren't many people at all. Our waitress seemed to be the only one, so she was a little slow but not to the point of complaining. One complaint we had was that the drinks all seemed flat. The sodas, and the Guinness. My grandpa was saying they need to clean out the lines of the tap to avoid this. The food was really good though. They were all hearty portions for being lunch.

I’ve passed this place for years and never went in- so glad I finally did tonight! From beginning to end, a great place that has been around for years. Small menu that manages to have something for everyone. The croutons are house made, not huge & hard things that crack your teeth. The fish fry is a mini whale and comes highly recommended. Fries, macaroni & cheese, Cole slaw… all good. We had quite an array and couldn’t think of anything we didn’t enjoy. We’ll definitely be back!

I was so happy to eat here today. I had never been before but always wanted to. They had a special chef's creation soup today that was fantastic. It was a Reuben chowder served with 2 small slices of rye bread. DAAAAYUM it was good. My wife had a very tasty chili and we both orderedd the beer battered fish fry, excellent. The french fries were a little over done but still crispy. I was a little worried at first because there was only one other table and 1 guy at the bar at 6:00 on a Saturday. The waitress seemed a little put off that we were there at first. Maybe she was having a bad day but she was very attentive and we had a friendly conversation with her before we left. As we were leaving there were a good number of cars pulling in so they were getting busy. Good eats!!

I had a delicious burger here, looking for a quick meal on a Friday. Service was friendly and prompt. I expected your average, run of the mill 'pub burger', and was pleasantly surprised with a juicy, tasty, well seasoned burger cooked perfectly. Like, seriously spot on, and not because of a bunch of screwy toppings. I'll definitely go back.

For the most part the food is usually good. French fries are outstanding! Today my grilled sandwich was awfully greasy but inside ingredients were delicious. Nachos ordered had cold chicken and stale tasting chips. Had it redone with fries and was good. Chicken still cold. Chicken should be replaced with chili!

The Fish and Fries were so so good!!! But lunch time was very busy and we had to wait for about 20-25 mins to get our food. Looked like they were a bit understaffed. Other than that, the service was great! Our server was very friendly. Highly recommend!

Burger was bleeding still (ordered Ned well) I’m ok with some pink, but if there fluid blood juice, nope. I’m out. Bartender was great, service was fast. The French onion soup is amazing.

Good food if a slightly limited menu ? ( Think elevated bar food offerings) Spacious and quiet. Beer selection was awful though given the shear number of taps. Mostly Anhueser Busch and nothing else - which is disappointing! Was hoping for a better overall experience given the location and surroundings. They feel more like a roadhouse or a slightly sad chain. Wish I could like them better.

The food was mediocre , and the staff was friendly. The wait time for our food was ridiculous, when we got it it was cold . It was during a " busy" night, but for the amount they charge per dish, it should at least be hot . My daughter ordered a burger medium well, it came out with the center still cold and just about raw.

Went to Elmwood on St Patrick's Day. Very quiet. The place was mostly empty. Menu is limited. They had a special of corned beef and cabbage. Huge portions. Meat was not fall apart tender. Lots of fat.

Long story short - if you order a sandwich online (I ordered directly off their website) it will not come with fries, despite the fact that it COST THE SAME as a sandwich you’d order in the restaurant, which comes with fries. I paid $17 for just a sandwich. Highway robbery at best. Expecting me to pay extra money to receive the same item is ridiculous. And it’s not a service fee, one or two dollars, which is understandable. I would have had to pay an extra $7 for fries. I just can’t see the logic in this. I wish I’d demanded a refund. The sandwich was good but not $17 good. I’ve enjoyed my prior experiences at this establishment, but this put a bad taste in my mouth for sure.

The food was okay: fish sandwich decent, the fries same as every restaurant. The turkey bacon club was 18 dollars for a very small sandwich, almost no turkey or bacon for 18 dollars is kinda nuts. But the staff was nice, and the food was timely. Time is changing: smaller portions, bigger prices. In my opinion, charge me two dollars more and give me a decent portion, or don’t raise the price and make it a smaller portion.

Owful service. Sop for a cofee. The server carring a rag and spray passes by me turns around and from four feet across screams rudely "are you going to eat!" The two stars given are for the convinient location.

Standard pub fare with long wait times and poorly cooked food. Chicken sandwich was overdone, fish was dry and overcooked but the wings and quesadilla were ok. Our lunch server was frazzled and service was very slow. She was polite but it dosnt really offset the quality of food or service. Found the beer list to be a highlight as it was well rounded and the menu had lots of options so may be worth another try.

These are the facts from our visit Friday night for dinner. Our waitress was good, but she forgot the bacon for my wife's salad. Once my wife reminded her, it took a while for them to cook it. The bacon smelled like it was cooked out at a campsite, the beer battered fish fry I had was white and flakey but was bland. My Cole slaw had absolutely no taste at all, and was unable to eat, the French fries unfortunately was the best part of my meal. My wife had a Juliene salad, which was brought out in the square tapered dish, she needed a separate plate to eat it. We have dined here before, but this was not good at all, not sure what happened, but the food appears to have failed in this visit. Hoping this was a one off and not something that the Elmwood is starting to have issues>?

Came in as a group, most were not really happy with their meals. Quality for the price wasn't there. It also took a very long time to even order drinks and food, perhaps our server was just busy elsewhere but it didn't seem too busy at the time. I don't think anyone in our group plans to return anytime soon. A shame, it used to be great.

We went here for a company dinner with Hyundai and almost everyone was disappointed with their meals. The appetizers were good but after that the entrees went downhill. We came on a Friday night with a pretty big party for a restaurant that didn’t have many other customers besides the ones sitting at the bar. One waitress attended us and she did a pretty good job keeping up on all the drink orders, refills, and food orders. She did an amazing job, I cannot blame her for how the food came out. I ordered the World Series burger “medium well” and it came out the same color as a hockey puck all char in every bite. The guy next to me ordered the same “medium rare” and his was cooked to hockey puck as well. Others who ordered the fish and chips complained of lack of seasoning on the fish batter. But the buffalo wings were good, pretzel sticks, and quesadillas were all very good. Maybe the food is better when the kitchen isn’t cooking for a big party. 🤷🏽‍♂️ In response to message from the owner: on the contrary everyone complained about their meals that night and at work the next day. So much so we did another company dinner at a barbecue place, where normally we only do 1 during our trip. Also the VP was the one who paid he always leaves a huge tip because we are such a big party and it is a corporate card. The waitress as I mentioned above was not the problem as she didn't cook the food, so why should her tip suffer. Have a happy New Year.
