Opinions de The Owl House Rochester
Might be a bit pricy but it's worth it. The beer I got wasn't expensive, either! And it was a great local one too. I audibly heard other diners say that they thought their burger was great, so I'll have to try that next time. I had tofu tonkatsu and it was delicious. The sauce was sweet and a bit spicy, and the pinto beans that came with were delicious.
Delicious rotating menu. Fun cocktails/mocktails. Fantastic vegetarian options.
I came to this magical place and thought "What do they do here? Fry up owls?". Then I was struck with the strangest sight. Living, breathing walls, a strange (owl? bird? worm? thing?) on the door. Then I met the witch they call "Eda the Owl Lady", and I learned why people call her that. Right before my eyes, she turned into this GIANT OWL BEAST. It was horrifying. Best experience of my life though.
We’ve been hearing different people recommend The Owl House for great vegan food since our first trip to Rochester, but it took us years (and it took The Red Fern being on summer break) for us to give it a try. We were hooked as soon as we entered the adorable space. We were impressed with the specials including vegan corn mac and cheese but ultimately wanted to order something a little healthier so went with the Thai basil chopped salad and the spring pasta. The salad was excellent although we couldn’t seem to find the basil. We added the house chickpea patty and loved it. The spring pasta was good but somewhat disappointing. Based on the name, I was expecting more vegetables than the scant sprinkling of tiny florets of rapini and a few bites of asparagus that were hidden among the noodles. We added smoked tofu and enjoyed the flavor and the generous portion. The tempeh bacon was also great and non-greasy. Overall, The Owl House felt a little overhyped, but we enjoyed the food and really enjoyed the draft local kombucha (from Katboocha) and the lovely service, and we are looking forward to returning.
One of the best meals out I've had in a long time. Great food, great service
The food was amazing! Caramelized Onion Pasta and Butternut Squash appetizer served on a bed of beans and greens, so awesome! Camille, our server, was so personable, full of good recommendations, and on top of her game! She knew what we wanted before we did :) Could not have been happier with everything!
Amazing staff, great atmosphere, and great food. Very vegan and vegetarian friendly but also has meat options. Perfect for a diverse group. Had a lovely time and will be back.
The owl house is a mixed atmosphere of laid back and fine dining. The food is always a little different and is my go to when I want to push boundaries. And if you are a safe eater like my wife-get the burger-it is fantastic.
Had a lovely, delicious dinner there last night. Willow is a great server! The food was amazing - the gluten-free bread is so good. Can’t wait to go back!
Rosemary fries were delightfully crispy. The smoked tofu was amazing. The summer pasta was fantastic. Looking forward to dining there again.
Excellent food and staff! Some of the best service I’ve ever experienced with really cool healthy meals for people that have dietary restrictions and those who don’t. Tastes healthy and fresh
Excellent vegan vegetarian friendly restaurant. Apporimately 10 taps for draft beer but they keep it stocked with some diverse and different options compared to other bars in the area. Out door patio is nice as well. The Buffalo Califlour was awesome and this is coming from a Buffaloian.
Delicious drink specials - I had the Violette Margarita. My chickpea burger was also good. Very comfortable atmosphere.
Interesting options for Omnivores and Vegetarians alike. Everything was well executed. We especially enjoyed the smoked tofu. Good Porter on tap.
Amazing gluten free and vegetarian options. Fantastic food and service.
A small resturant which serves up vegan dishes. No parking lot street parking across from the restaurant. The restaurant is located in the theature district close by Geva Theature and inside a house. A nice sized bar is inside the restaurant on the first floor. A staircase will lead you up to the second floor dining area. Restroom is one and shared. Greeter was smiling as we entered and friendly. Server was prompt and offered the daily specials and asked if we had any dietary concerns. The kitchen is open concept so you can see the entree being prepared. I ordered a the portobello grilled mushroom entree which included a side of cold potatoe salad accompanied by a light vinager dressing baby potatoes onion baby peas beans. The potatoe salad left me with wanting more and gave me an idea how to prepare one at home. Roasted Brussel sprouts also accompanied my meal. Tender crispy cut into slices and tasted heavenily. The mushroom itself was large with a slight hint of worchashire sauce juicy and delicious. It tasted similiar to a steak. I highly recommend this entree.
They have SHRUB. so good. And the rosemary fries 😉🥰 *chefs kiss* I got the Vegan tuna melt and it was delicious. I had never seen anyone do that before. Loves it. The water glasses are small though. Lol that’s the only thing. The staff is so nice, had a lovely time chatting with Ian at the bar waiting for my friends.
Quaint little restaurant with excellent vegan and gluten free options. We arrived on a Sunday evening with no reservation and told it would be a 10 minute wait or so. Sat at the bar and chatted it up while the bar tender busily made drinks for folks. Once seated. Our server greeted us warmly and announced the specials. We ordered the cauliflower wings to start. DELICIOUS! My son had soup and salad and loved it. My wife had the Saladboy with a chickpea burger topping, and I had Tofu dinner. Everything was amazing! Our server checked in on us and was present but not overbearing. Dessert consisted of coconut chocolate mousse and a plumb coffee cake. Both were tasty. Total for app, two bar drinks, three entrees, and two desserts was about $117 with tax and tip. We can’t wait to come back to this awesome restaurant! Edit: 10/07/23. Just came back and had ANOTHER great meal! The vegan apple crumb cake is soooo good. And our server Abbey was fantastic!!
Have been going to the Owl House for 10+ years now, we love the seasonal menu, always so creative and top quality food! the outdoor patio is a beautiful little spot for lunch/dinner. The service is always outstanding (all the employees thank us and kindly say "goodbye" when we leave, a nice touch!). Their vegan options are always excellent. This is our go-to in Rochester for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Thanks for consistently being awesome Owl House!!!
When family and friends visit us in Rochester, we typically go to the Owl House because it offers so many dietary options. We have vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free, and meat eaters. No matter who we take, we always leave super satisfied, bellies full of amazing food and drinks. Even though we've visited The Owl House at least 6 or 7 times in the two years since we've moved to the Roc, this is the first time I knew I HAD to leave a review. We've always had great service, but Willow is by far one of, if not THE best server I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I was a server for years, and game recognizes game. She was funny, her timing was perfect, but her suggestions? I typically order steaks, pasta, or seafood dishes. This girl had me ordering pork chops for dinner, and it was the best pork chop I've ever had! Absolutely amazing! She made our evening out with our PA family perfect. I highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't already, the atmosphere, the food, the service, the menu options...it's all there.
Great food, good portion sizes, local, fresh, seasonal menu with gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options! Serves brunch, lunch and dinner. Reservations recommended. "Fall Guy" Salad- Mustard greens with squash, cranberries, pepitos(pumpkin seeds), and chevre, I added chicken thighs.
One of my favorite spots by far in the city of Rochester and I only go for one reason: the burger. The flavors clash in your mouth with every bite is just tasty. The strawberry jam, the mayo, the bacon, onions, etc. Amazing! The owl house has so far, in my mind, the best burger in town. Not to mention a very small yet cozy place to dine in.
I ordered take out & ate in a park nearby. Haven't been here before, I'm vegan and noticed they had some vegan specials that looked very good. Was not disappointed. I had some amazing cheesy type vegan pasta (forgot the name) & dill & something roasted potatoes (I also forgot the actual name) very Delicious!!!! My partner had the vegan trash plate and also loved it. Would definitely go again.
I didn't take pictures of our dinner and it was amazing! My daughter got us take out and it was delicious, as always! BVE Beef Burger $15.00 Beef patty, sriracha-strawberry jam, crispy onions, mayo, toasted baker street bun with chèvre cheese. She had their rosemary fries and I had their homemade chips and we had a sides of sriracha aioli to dip in! Yum! But the picture I did take...DESSERT! Pear and blackberry turnover. Idk who made these, but wow!!! The flavor was amazing!!! Thanks for a wonderful meal Owl House!!!
Please is easy to miss. It looks like a house right up from a grill place. The mushroom chowder was amazing. It was both vegan and gluten free. The fried cauliflower nachos were insane (vegan). The blueberry smash is delish. I can’t wait to come back to this area to eat here again. I might even make the 5 1/2 hour drive to make it a food eating trip! The blueberry smash special drink was refreshing and I loved it. The apricot smash, which my husband ordered, was delish. I can’t wait until the entrees. I started this review throughout the meal. I can’t wait for my burger with sriracha strawberry jam and fries onions. I am full but I will give it the good ole College try! Update.. my burger was freaking amazing. It was not spicy hot. There was a little warmth but not even something I could notice. The strawberry calmed it. Give this place a try. You won’t regret it. I guess I should also tell you that my husband had the fried summer zucchini with chimichurri sauce with hominy, green beans and Dijon mustard potatoes. He loved it.
What an amazing dinner with this new Fall menu! Crispy polenta cakes with harissa jam, absolutely amazing! Baked brie was a perfect combination of flavors. The fennel and quinoa salad was a perfect refreshing fall meal. The special for the day was chicken and dumplings which was fabulous and I had no idea it was GF! We had a wonderful server named Kate (apologies for any misspelling) who was knowledgable and super friendly. The bartender even made me a random cocktail which was amazing. The head chef here is definitely doing something right, absolutely phenomenal fall menu!
Such an adorable restaurant with amazing food! The original restaurant we chose in Rochester had too much of a wait time so we found this place on google and we decided to give it a shot. We parked across the road in the public parking lots that we paid for 2 hours and walked over. This place is so cozy and felt like you were coming over to someone’s home for dinner! We have a mix group of vegetarian/gluten free/omnivores so this place met our every need! I got the special which was a pasta with blush sauce and mozzarella and tempeh. The food was so good we forgot to take photos of it! We would be happy to go back to this restaurant when we come back up to Rochester.
We had dinner on a warm evening in April and ate on the back patio. Service was excellent. The food was awesome. Everything was very fresh. Amelia and Freya waited on us. The manager, Ian, was very friendly and created delicious lemonades for our grandsons. Before we left we made reservations for the next night because we were so impressed with the food and service. Be sure to make a reservation because this is a very popular restaurant. Enjoy!!
Why didn't I take pictures?!?! Maslo said the fried chicken was the best he's ever had. They crushed the hush puppies. The whole pork dish with the sauces and sides was incredible. Cocktails were great, salad was amazing. Polenta was great. Fries are always perfect
Went to this place with no expectations and it was an amazing surprise. Besides the charming environment, the food was delicious. My husband got the Cacio e Pepe pasta with chicken and I got the Sirloin with rosemary fries. Both really good. The pasta was absolutely amazing.
I recently went to The Owl House and the food was great! I had a burger with gluten free bread. The bread was freshly made and even the ketchup was too! Everything was delicious! It was a busy Friday night and, although it was busy, the staff were friendly and attentive. I highly recommend The Owl House!
We had a wonderful meal at the Owl House! Cute place, great atmosphere, staff was attentive and helpful. We would definitely eat here again!
I had dinner with a friend here tonight. We started off with cocktails and they were so fresh and tasty. Perfect on a hot day like today. Then we got their special appetizer, which was garlic parmesan cauliflower wings. They were crispy and perfectly cooked. And had this amazing sauce on the plate. I could have eaten a whole second plate. Then we got the burger, and the bun was excellent. I ordered the BVE burger because it said in the menu it has strawberry and Sriracha jam, and it did! I really liked the sweetness it added. And for my side I got the kettle chips, which were so good. And I have to mention this is literally an old house turned into a restaurant, so the table we had was upstairs, and the stairs were on the narrow side. I loved it, but be warned. Finally, I have to say the staff was the highlight of the night. From the bartender greeting us as we walked in, to the host who sat us quickly, to the server who was cheerful and quick all meal, it was a delight. This staff clearly know what they're doing and are happy to do it. The whole experience was fantastic, go visit this charming restaurant!
Cute and cozy restaurant in a house! The atmosphere was great, the staff was super welcoming and helpful, and there was a lovely selection of food and beverages for every eater/drinker. Fun cocktails, mocktails, draft beers, and a nice wine list, as well as a plant forward menu with vegan, vegetarian, and omnivore options. I loved my dish, the tofu dinner with risotto and broccolini. Absolutely phenomenal. Can't wait to come back on a future visit to try the vegan Mmac n cheese!
Excellent food, great plating and atmosphere. The food is perfectly tuned, a balance of different ingredients, flavors, and texture. The steak was perfect, an ordinary lean sirloin cut transformed into another level. Use of sweet potatoes grants sweetness, richness, and softness to the steak. The cherry sauce and the mustard seed complimented by tanginess. Extra smoky flavor by the charred brussel sprouts. Other dishes are not anywhere lacking detail as well.
Wish I could give them 10 stars! They hosted a private brunch for us for our son's graduation from RIT and were wonderful to work with! They catered to our vegetarian and meat eaters. Food was delicious and service was amazing. They even let me have an extra chair in memory of my mom who passed in January.
Amazing food! This is the perfect place for me and my boyfriend, as a vegetarian and omnivore. The menu is extremely diverse and creative. Prices are incredibly fair for the quality of food. Portions aren't huge, but aren't tiny, perfect, honestly. In house made lemonade is very tart and delicious. The special soup (a vegan sweet potato curry) was incredibly unique and good. My boyfriend said the sweet potato puree served with his sirloin was one of the best foods he has ever had. One note, make a reservation and be prepared for a wait. It is totally understandable for how busy it is and the complexity of the dishes.
Grabbed Brunch here with a friend! If you’re looking for a great brunch option with vegan, vegetarian, and/or dairy-free options, owl house is it! Great vibe inside, our server was very nice and helpful! It’s a little small but in a cozy kind of way. For food, I had the tofu breakfast sandwich and my friend had the chicken and waffles. Both tasted amazing, and they truly give you your money’s worth with the portions, I was brought out more potatoes than what is pictured and I was low-key shocked lol. Overall, great place to grab a great meal.
We were just in Rochester for one night and went here on a whim, and it was SO GOOD!! Super cute little place. A lot of their food is vegan by default, so I got the Caesar with maple tempeh bacon and rosemary fries on the side and it was amazing. Got the Long Winter cocktail and that was also great. My (omnivore) friends also loved it. One got the cauliflower wings and enjoyed those, but to me they were unbearably spicy. My other friend got the butternut squash steak and that was also really good. The staff was very nice and knowledgeable. Highly recommend. I would definitely come back here!
What a wonderful location. It is warm and inviting. The staff are kind, courteous, and will ensure you have a great time. And the food... wow. Amazing 👏 get the crispy potatoes at all cost
As a recently dairy free individual this place is life changing. On top of having 'regular' menu items they have vegan, vegatarian, gluten free, nut free, dairy free options. Most food options are customizable based on your allergy and they are incredibly accommodating. My husband has no food limitations and also loves their food. They have something for everyone. The service here was also impressive, the workers genuinely seem to love what they are doing. Our new favorite restaurant.
One of my favorite restaurants in Rochester. They always have incredible apps & specials, and beautifully crafted cocktails. Perfect for date night, small family dinners, and even their brunch is fantastic!!
We have been to the Owl House three times over the last year, and it's been lovely. The atmosphere is cozy and you feel taken care of. You can tell there is thought put into the menu and I've had the tofu dinner twice, it's exceptional. Don't sleep on the chocolate mousse! 10/10, highly recommend overall.
We had a celebratory brunch, everything was delicious - there were many menu items we could choose from that met our likes and dietary needs, which was bonus! I enjoyed the special which included sweet potato fritters over a spicy-ish siracha type sauce that had a flavorful punch and eggs cooked just the way I like them, it was a lot of food - perfect to share a fritter or two with my husband. He enjoyed a take on huevos rancheros that had a delicious green remoulade loaded with flavor! We also ordered the pumpkin pound cake special for dessert, which was very flavorful and delicious to finish our meal with some fresh brewed coffee with oat milk. Definitely plan to go back again soon - we really enjoyed the atmosphere and service was also helpful and attentive.
Im only in Rochester for a short time and I am so glad this is one of the few stops I made. Steak was cooked perfectly, mashed potatoes were nice and creamy. Our server and hostess were both super nice and attentive. Shame I'm only here for a short time or time would be a regular spot for me.
We had a lovely evening sitting on the patio for dinner. Love the vibe and all the great food options catering to many different preferences and needs. The Buffalo cauliflower was amazing as was the salmon and pork chop. If we were locals we’d be back often. Loved it!
Literally no joke…. The best food and drinks I’ve had in my life! We weren’t going to get drinks but we did… one was a strawberry something with foam that was light and great and some bourbon thing with a tincture lol had us lit! The food was great we initially came since they had great vegan options but it was superb… We order cauliflower wings super delicious The fried mushroom abosolutely great And my all time best burger the BVE BURGER With rosemary fries…. Bro 10/10. Not only that our server who name I forgot to put here here was phenomenal in service honesty and knowledge…. Great atmosphere even better food.
Had some of the freshest and most pleasant tasting fried chicken I think I’ve ever had here as a part of the chicken and waffles dish. Also noteworthy ketchup seems to be freshly made as well? Felt like they went the extra mile on freshness of ingredients, and that only augmented an already solid dining experience. Menu and staff very accommodating and understanding of dietary restrictions. It is a little loud when it’s at peak capacity due to this restaurant being situated in a small house, but it’s quite charming overall. Will be back with friends sometime soon
Was here in 2023 and then 3 nights in a row in January 25. It is relatively small and seating at the bar (largely for walk-ins) is cosy. Tables are well spaced. Good value and service, bar staff who make all drinks with care and flair. Lovely menu with a specials board. I had the hearty lamb stew 3 nights in a row. The Tamarind Sour is delicious. Also had a rocket and apple salad, coconut and chocolate moose in various nights. Would happily return anytime.
Lovely atmosphere, staff and most notably, their menu. Their menu does change throughout the year, so I thought it would be particularly important to give the menu standard a chance rather than jumping on the daily specials (I mean, it must be good enough for it to earn its place there for the season, right?). I’m not local to Rochester, but will certainly have them on my rotations when I’m around for work. I ordered the Goose Juice (bourbon, strawberry preserves, genepy, basil and prosecco), Tofu Dinner (in tarragon & saffron butter, spinach orzo, grilled asparagus, charred lemon and fresh herbs) and Buffalo Cauli Wings. The nuances in the flavors were spectacular and could’ve easily eaten double of the entree (food coma much?) and savored the drink all evening. The cauliflower was good but not quite to the bar as the other two. Perhaps a personal preference, but I like my buffalo cauliflower crisper with more breading (I usually do a double bake post-batter and then post-sauce. The vegan blue cheese also needed more tang. Don’t get me wrong, I can still clear inordinate amounts of it for a person my size, it just was not the memorable part of the meal. Food aside, staff was cordial. Amelia, my waitress, was wonderful. Outdoor dining space looked lovely but opted to eat inside (since it was 90° outside).
This was my first time at The Owl House 🦉 and it was so delightful! I loved the ambiance of the restaurant and definitely recommend the patio if you're able to get a seat there. I had the "goose juice" cocktail 🪿 as well as the summer pasta. My partner ordered the cauliflower wings (I had to steal a few - yum!) and the salmon. Everything was well-prepared and delicious! Our server was funny and did a great job of taking care of us!
I absolutely love The Owl House! I haven't been since 2012 when I visited Rochester. I moved here recently, so my friend and I came for brunch. He's vegan, and they have so many awesome vegan options! He had vegan stuffed French Toast that was awesome! The vegan cinnamon struessel tasted so good too! I had The Cat's Pajamas cocktail but with pomegranate because I'm allergic to strawberries and it was delightful! And the Owl House Breakfast was WOW! Those potatoes were FANTASTIC! Everything was fantastic. I can't wait to come back for more. I'm so glad I live close now! The staff is amazing too! So positive and helpful and lovely. Such a fantastic spot!
I love coming here. You definitely need to make reservations unless you don't mind waiting and/or eating at the bar. We made reservations and we sat shortly after our time. We started with the cauliflower wings that were very good. Whatever that bleu cheese sauce is, they need to bottle it up and sell it, and I'm not a huge bleu cheese fan! For entrees we got the rotini pasta special, oleck's buffalo stance sandwich, tofu fall hoagie and a fish fry. Everybody really enjoyed their food. You could tell everything was fresh and the table was quiet, it was so good. We shared a piece of the Mexican hot chocolate tart, that was very good with a little kick at the end. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and what could be done for my dietary restrictions. There were only 2 items that could not be made gluten free and those were the pasta dishes. Almost everything could be made vegan/vegetarian. We would for sure go back, again.
The Owl House was a hoot! I was in search of a vegan restaurant to celebrate a family birthday. I loved this place. I loved that there were vegan and non vegan choices. All of the food has great flavor. The mocktails were fun and delicious. I left full and I will be returning. Reservations are recommended.
Stumbled across this quaint restaurant on accident. But I am very glad my partner and I did. Firstly, the concept of having the restaurant in a house had me. And the aesthetics in the backyard made it all the more worth it. Alley (spelling?) was great and a pleasurable host. Very charismatic. The energy of the entire staff was everything! The costs was fairly reasonable for the market we’re in today. Most importantly the food was tasteful. We had two specials which were great: (1) strawberry salad which was tasteful but not mind blowing and (2) beet ginger juice mix. Would suggest at least tossing the salad prior to serving. In addition to the Tofu n Waffles and the Tofu Breakfast Sandwich. The make-up of the tofu scramble in the sandwich was cooked/seasoned well. The potatoes served with the sandwich were also tasteful. When I return to Rochester, The Owl House is now on my radar.
We went to The Owl House a week ago for dinner and were seated upstairs. After a few minutes of waiting we asked to sit at the bar and that is where we met Andy. He is AMAZING! He welcomed us, gave recommendations, and made us the tastiest cocktails. He turned our night around and because our experience was so great with him we went back the next week for brunch. The food is on point and the drinks are out of this world. Thanks Andy! 😊
This adorable eating house has a variety amazing of dairy free, vegan and gluten free options to choose from! This was our first experience here (came to celebrate birthdays) and the service was excellent, the food and drink were delivered timely. Our waitress's name was Yesenia and she was very attentive to our needs! The menu delivered taste combos that we were excited to try and with good reason. The portions were large to normal and the food was well worth the price! I would encourage patrons to reserve a table in advance when eating in. Of note: The checkout system was a breeze, the check can be delt with in the typical way or the receipt has a qr code you can use to pay your bill online.
We went with a party of six and had a great time. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. I look forward to going back soon.

Great setting (in a charming house), staff & food. Highly recommend, but make reservations to guarantee a spot. Delicious!
The crispy Brussels sprouts were to die for. So very delicious!! However, the Caesar salad was very dry and mediocre. I also had a sweet potato soup that was pretty good. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the service was excellent.
Enticing foods with innovative creations. Chilly yet efficient service. High casual art vibe.
Service is excellent. I wanted a semi- dry Riesling but they only had dry Riesling. So the waiter offered a sample of the Riesling and their Rose. I decided on the Riesling even though it was too dry for me. I ordered their sweet potato, ground beef and egg special. It came with a side of green salad. I found the dressing too tart, but the dish was good. My kids liked the leeks and corn soup for $5.50. It tastes like onion soup, but with corn, instead of cheese and croutons. My husband was craving for steak so he was not too happy with his choice of the Owl special. My son enjoyed the tofu waffle dish. My daughter said the hamburger was okay.
They turned a small older home into a restaurant. We heard that this place had a good menu with a touch vegan. Well, we each had a drink. Then I had a burger with strawberry jam / onion mix. The burger was ok. My wife had stuffed French toast again ok. I do not think this is our type of place and the food did not measure up for us. Lastly the male hostess was a bit rude.
Great atmosphere and excellent service!! It felt very welcoming and the servers were friendly, helpful, and awesome!! The only disadvantage for me (and my budget) is that I was not expecting to be this pricey, since I’ve been to almost every single restaurant around this area. I’m also definitely spoiled by the variety and wide range of food (and big portions) that Rochester has to offer, so the portions and flavors weren’t super impressive. But don’t mind me!, I honestly just had fries, mac and cheese and pho banh mi. So maybe I’m not being fair. The mac and cheese was delicious! I recommend! The mocktails were perfect! I will definitely come back on my next paycheck and try other dishes!!!
I like that they offer vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. Everything I have had here has been delicious. I especially enjoy sitting on the back patio when it is warm outside.

I love The Owl House but I think it's important to give you a heads-up during this extremely hot summer that their dining room does NOT have air-conditioning! My recent visit, the dining room was…
Very attentive service. Great appetizer options. Specials were a great choice. Cozy dining room.

Our server was great and the setting was nice. The kale salad was very good. The burger was not great...it was bad. The rosemary fries were great. I think perhaps I chose poorly with a burger and the other menu options would have been much better.
Came here for prix fixe menu on valentines day with my wife. Food was good for our first option we split our choices so we could try a second dish and we weren't too pleased with the alternative second choices. The fish dish was salty and too spicy. It was pretty abstract curry spices and not well executed. Over seasoned. The fish seemed like a small freezer cut of cod that was very thin. Would appreciate a nicer portion so that it could get a good sear on it without overcooking it. They also didn't have the beer I asked for and just took a liberty to give me a "similar" beer, then when I asked to try that one next I found out when the server said "you've already had that"??? The drinks that we ordered as drink pairing with the 4 courses often came well after the dish it was to be paired with arrived. It felt like they took on too much for a busy night. I'd go back to give their tried and true menu a try on maybe a less busy night. For now though it's not at the top of my list. I had higher hopes for the bill we paid. I think it came close to $250 after tip. We thought that should've been at least $100 cheaper.
To start with the place, its a cute house, turned into a restaurant. Finding a parking is a bit challenging especially during the snow period. We picked the second floor for dinner. Since we werent sure which type of wine we want, the waiter offered us to taste 4 different types and then pick our favorite. And we really appreciated this. We got the FALL GUY salar which is super tasty. Its was so rich with feta cheese and walnuts. And the dressing was very nice. The market steak was an 8 oz sirloin, one of the best i have had in rochester. It felt very light, non greasy, healthy and with tons of flavors. Whereas the fetruccine alfredo i really do not recommend. There was a lot of mushroom in it that was so thick and hard to eat. An average pasta!
food was decent, the restaurant has a good outdoor patio and the servers were kind. Overall, this seems like a place to go if you're into fried foods.

The upstairs back room temperature was cramped, uncomfortable and very cold, since they do not have space heaters, we had to relocate. We ordered a steak entree medium rare, it came very over cooked. We had to send it back. We spent a significant amount of money. With having to move to a different table and send a dinner back, the waitress should have offered a drink or dessert for our inconvenience. We will not go back.
I preface this with the knowledge that this has been one of our favorite restaurants. Also, our go to when we get gift certificates for gifts or awards in both our personal and professional lives. But no longer. We took a very dear friend and her son to brunch on Saturday. I made sure to make a reservation, and to make sure that we had enough time for a leisurely brunch. The website and email that they sent as a confirmation, auto populated calendar request, said that we had two hours to dine when you have parties of four or more. We had five people. We ordered an appetizer cocktails, bottle of wine, and entrées. The food was lovely. And our server, Willow, was delightful up until the point she decided that we were in her way. suffice to say, the staff decided that we were much too long, even though we were still under the timeframe that the has given as per their own policy. We were deep in conversation and enjoying ourselves and unfortunately, or then treated very poorly by staff. At which point we left gladly. Having a background in I understand what it is like when people stay too long. Which is why we made sure that we had stayed within the guidelines that they offered on both their website and their reservation service and their confirmation email. We will not be returning. Nor will we be utilizing this favorite spot as a place for celebration, in both person and utilizing gift cards.
Advertised as a brunch place, using brunch photos, but the place doesn't even open until 5pm? Can't have brunch at 5pm. That's Brinner, and that's false advertising. Bye.

They had terrible service we waited forever for our drinks when they finally got to the table my drink was filled to the brim with ice so there was literally a couple sips and to top it off there was no alcohol in it. When it came to the meal the server talked me into a dinner that ended up being terrible and had no flavor. The server was short and not responsive to our requests. And the best part of the night when I asked for more ketchup I was charged for it which is literally just ridicuous!
We remade our 10th anniversary of our first date by going back to where it all started. I let the people know this when I made the reservation. Got there and they walked us thru the entire place, passing by multiple empty tables, and sat us in the very back room, right next to the bathrooms. It took 15-20 minutes to get our drinks, about 30 minutes to get our first appetizer (we ordered 2: buff cauliflower wings and French fries). We got the Cauliflower wings, then about 10-15 minutes later we got the fries. By the time the main meals came to us, they were both lukewarm. Mind you, we had to ask for the specials bc we were never told of any, just what we wanted. We had every intention of spending an entire evening there, but we cut it off immediately after eating and asked for the check. Mind you, not a single time did they ask if we wanted another drink, and they left the menus at our table until we asked them to take them away. It was just an all-around pretty lackluster 10th anniversary dinner. $110 later we decided to go to another place to have dessert and a night cap. Owl House ruined my one chance at a memorable 10th anniversary with my wife. Picture shows I was done with my drink and my appetizer, and the menus were still there on edge of the table, taking up half the small table they say us at. Literally passed by multiple times without taking them away or asking if wanted another drink.
