A very beautiful and well-kept atmosphere! The small outdoor courtyard has a romantic touch! We ate very well! There were three of us; two of us had the pilgrim's menu and I had the Fassona steak! Everything was excellent! Even the wine produced by the owner himself, both the Erbaluce white and the Barbera red, are excellent! We also tried his Bonet, which was equally good! Great service and good value! What can I say? If I return to Roppolo, I already know where to eat!

The owner is definitely a great character with his own style. He cooks, and he comes to take your order—a worthwhile experience. If you're in a hurry, this isn't the place for you; if you don't know how to play the game and don't have a ready answer, this isn't the place for you. The menu is homey, everything is always very good, and it's constantly updated with the seasons. You're beneath a castle, five minutes from the lake, and you can stay in the rooms provided. In short, a place worth visiting, in a small village. The prices are truly very fair considering the quality you get on the plate.

One of the best hotel experiences I had! We were a group of four motorcyclists who stayed for a night. Check in was promt and the hotelier was very friendly as well. We also got a sheltered parking lot! Dinner and breakfast were amazingly good!

Culinary Slut

This is a restaurant, but it also has rooms upstairs for overnight stays. The restaurant: The food at the restaurant is marvellous and the locally produced wine were just delicious. The owner takes great pride in his wine selection. Our first course was risotto cooked with Herbes de Provence. Next we had wild rabbit cooked in red wine sauce with polenta and possibly the most delicious Swiss chard we’ve ever had. For dessert we opted for a dark chocolate “pudding”, which was lovely dark chocolate just barely sweetened. Every bite of the meal was very much enjoyed! Rooms are basic, but comfortable. We had a good nights sleep in the bed. The shower is luxurious! Things to be aware of - you can hear conversations and activity happening in other parts of the dwelling quite clearly, fortunately we were tired and everyone got quiet during the night, so we slept well. Hot water does run out, so shower early (afternoon or early morning). We weren’t given keys for our room, so it stayed unlocked, which was unusual but worked out fine. Breakfast was simple with toast, deli meat and cheese. They had cereal as an option. There were freshly baked croissants and a delicious pear and chocolate cake. Overall the experience was quite nice, but it is worth noting that the gentlemen running the establishment has a grumpy temperament, and seemed annoyed at our lack of Italian language skills.

Locale pulito, servizio scarno; ottima qualità dei prodotti offerti. Prezzo caro per quantità e per il fatto che dovrebbe essere una trattoria. Lo Stefano, il proprietario è un personaggio particolare...

Locale rustico ma carino, ambiente piacevole. Spezzatino da urlo, veramente eccezionale. Peccato aver battuto lo scontrino prima che potessimo chiedere la fattura e, soprattutto, aver rifiutato di annullarlo e rimediare. Un pranzo (ripeto, ottimo) di lavoro pagato di tasca nostra...

Beautiful restaurant, both outside as inside, very cosy and tastfull decorated. The food was good, all courses. Too bad that the service was bad. We had reserved the dinner at 19:30 and arrived at that time but we had to wait then for 20 minutes and sat in front of the bar before we were asked to enter the diningroom, without any explanation. Furthermore, the service during the diner was good in taking the orders and executing them, but it totally lack in any kind of friendliness or giving pro active any explanation. Overall for us, notwithstanding the quality of the food, we decided it to leave it with this one visit.

We stopped here for lunch to take a break during the Oropa walk. The place is very cute and intimate, definitely cool given the sultry summer days. The food was also very good, especially the vitello tonnato, with top marks for the fantastic sauce. The agnolotti were also good, although I've tried better. The service was quite friendly and fast. Prices, in my opinion, are very high, especially the first courses. I recommend it to pilgrims who want a quick lunch and avoid the traditional sandwich.

A lunch with friends at this trattoria, chosen among those in the area based on its good food reviews. The food was certainly good, but the service left a bit to be desired. When we arrived, there was no one to greet us; in fact, we only saw a gentleman, who I later couldn't tell if he was the chef; I don't think so, but I have my doubts. He was a bit grumpy at first, quick to explain the menu (unclear), and then less than truthful about the spiciness of a dish a friend had chosen, after she had asked for it without the spicy sauce. Overall, though, the food was good.

Excellent food, top-notch homemade pasta, top-quality. Don't arrive hungry, though, as service isn't prompt. However, this means everything is made to order, which is a significant achievement. Unfortunately, the Piedmontese mix is ​​only available on weekends or made to order.

The food was good. We were offered a fillet of whitefish, a fish apparently no longer found in Lake Viverone. In fact, as you can see from the attached photo, it was actually a rainbow trout fillet. I wonder why they didn't tell the truth.

Se avete cani, non vi andate!! Abbiamo prenotato in questo ristorante tramite The Fork, specificando che saremmo stati accompagnati da un cagnolino; la prenotazione é stata immediatamente confermata. Arrivati all’orario previsto, il proprietario ci ha accolto dicendoci che avremmo dovuto far portare la museruola al nostro, tranquillissimo, cane… Diciamo che dopo aver visitato con lui decine di ristoranti e numerosi stellati, sempre senza avere problemi, non ci aspettavamo una richiesta del genere da una trattoria di provincia… Dopo averlo perfino specificato in prenotazione… Abbiamo lasciato il ristorante dopo questa gentile richiesta… Non credo che vi torneremo in questa o nella prossima vita.

The owner was unmotivated and bordered on rude (he seemed like an underpaid and exploited waiter). I'm sorry, but that's not how you acquire customers; that's how you lose them. They paid practically 100 euros for a restaurant that has NOTHING special about it. Never again.
