If you like burgers and fries like they were made in the 90s don't miss Short Stop. Don't sleep on the tenders , they are Homestyle just like Mom used to make.

My wife and had the catfish platter it was delicious. They seasoned it perfectly and it was hot had to wait a few minutes. Definitely will be going back for sure. Keep up the good work be safe stay safe.

The best burger for the money in Texas, both locations in Round Rock, ROCK! always hot burger, not like sonic! Always great tasting, not like sonic! Location on 79 has flame broiled while the one by the school has flat top grilled! Like Buc-ee's they do it right!

I've loved Short Stop since moving to Austin 15 years ago. We hadn't been in quite some time and in fact it was my 5 year old's first time. After taking 1 bite he exclaimed "Dad, this burger is SO good!"

Drive through female was sweet and listened to my order, said my order back to me(what is expected) and made it a very short stop!! :) Food was hot and had just the right flavor. The way fast food should be ❤️

Finally tried this place after living here for several years and I wish I had sooner!! I got the burger combo and it came with an apple pie that was amazing!! The burger was greasy goodness like it should be haha definitely will be back!

The best part of eating a delicious burger with fries from this place was the company I had for lunch. My Goddaughter/niece was with me. We sat down in the shade in the truck reminiscing about how much my sister loved short stop burgers. She's no longer with us but we ate one of her favorite burgers in her honor and it was amazing. We enjoyed our first visit. Service was fast and friendly. Food was fresh and tasty. The fries were crisp and warm. Got a frozen lemonade which I would recommend not too tart. The hamburger flavor is close to Burger King. We would go back again.

Very awesome burger. Frys were delicious. There is reason they survived the 80's because the burgers and chicken tenders freaking delicious!! Good country gravy. Cashiers are always a little grumpy and rude, but it's not too bad for good food. Price is very fair.

We decided to stop by for the first time after a friend recommended it, it was so good! We tried their burgers and their fish filet and it was all so fresh! Their fries were well done as well. Good service for how busy it was and will definitely come back!!

I have t been to short stop in years and I’m mad i didn’t keep them as one as my “Frequents”! My BF and I ordered the bag of burgers for around $28 and some change after tax. Of course I didn’t eat them all I just had one but he tore the rest up and all the fries on our way back home 😂. He approved and said we need to come here more often. I plan on coming back on a Friday to see if their fried fish is still as tasty as it used to be.

Love shortstop. Even used to work there a long time ago and still love it. Don't care for the miracle whip mayo substitute. Fries are still hands down the best when fresh in fast food. Grilled chicken real mayo with jalapenos is the best! They have real mayo but only some people will hook you up IF they aren't busy. They use it to make the delicious ranch. YUM!

French fries are awesome too. Love it! Will continue to go. Only wish they had either Uber eats or doordash. Sometimes I don't feel like driving to it even though it's so close by. Love it! Love it! Location is pretty tough to get in and out of because of IH35 & 79 traffic but otherwise pretty good. Staff is friendly and burgers are flame broiled which makes a difference. Like all Shortstops im aware of this one has no indoor seating and very limited outdoor seating. Most business is drive through only, but if that is your thing, this location is worth a visit.

An old school Austin and surrounding area legend. .they have filled many bellies and inspired many smiles over the years. Always one of the freshest burgers you could ever eat. There's not to many of them left but those that have remained have stayed the same. Don't forget their Wensday and Saturday specials...best deal in town

Shortstop has always been a great place for a decent burger or chicken fingers. They are fast and friendly and delicious. I noticed they have catfish on Friday, it was Friday so I thought what the heck give it a try. That is something I have to do more of! The fries were hot and fresh and the catfish was the best I have had in Central Texas in years! The breading had a nice light flavor and the fish was really flavorful. Edit: That review was about the Round Rock location that is right next to Round Rock High School. That location has sadly closed. I have been to a few locations over the years and I can honestly say that they all have had the same excellent service and food. The good news is that there is another location that is very close to the Round Rock location. Just go north on I-35 to the hwy 79 exit and the Short Stop is on the right between the Dairy Queen and the Long John Silvers.

I tried this place for the first time and the food was good. The burgers reminded me of Little Red Wagon. My order was ready relatively fast and I recommend. Their website saya that they sell shakea but, they don't have them at this location.

Decent burger. Beats DQ, Jack in the box, burger king, has a very burger joint feel which is why I was disappointed. Expected more. Whataburger has better burgers. Mine was greasy and smoothed. Also, they lack variety.

This is a frequent stop for me during the week for lunch quick in quick out. I usually order the chili cheese dog And frozen strawberry lemonade Which is better tasting than sonic.

Fish tasted great, very very small portions, only one actual filet and 4 partial pieces. Tarter sauce didnt taste right. The hush puppies were awesome!

Fairly average fast food drive thru for burgers. They've changed a bit since my last visits years ago. The burgers have a super strong grilled charcoal sort of smell and taste. It's not bad, but doesn't taste natural. Fries are good. As is the service. Prices have gotten high, like most places. Overall, not bad, but not as good as they used to be.

This short stop has seen a lot of decline in service and staffing since I first started coming here. Today, when I pulled up, the worker was going to their car to get a smoke and tried to walk in the back door while smoking. then went around and stood up front by the menu and order window and kept on smoking. Before fi slly going inside to take the next persons order as I ended up not even eating here this time and went next door.

Size of the fish (5 small pieces) & fries was not worth paying $14. Back home a super catch 8 piece w/2 sides and hudhpuppies is well worth $17.

I sat at the receiver for 4 min to have my order taken before I pulled up and asked was it working. The manager said it hasn't been working then proceeded to take my order at the window. I happily told her I want the all American special, then said I want the chicken special listed right next to it on the menu. The manager responded " if you dont know what you want you can order from the menu on the otherside. I stared at her appuled that she didn't have the product knowledge to help me out. after she walked away from the window I began to punch the air, frustrated I had to get back in line. Once I got to the other side my order was taken right away. I ordered the all American and the chicken slammer. I was asked if I wanted cheese in the chicken slammer, not knowing it was a chicken burger with gravy I said yes wanting the full experience. Big mistake. The cheese and gravy definitely did not go together and I for the life of me couldn't figure out why the cheese was offered. After pulling off I noticed I had only 1 apple pie in my bag. I quickly hoped off the highway from heading to killeen and turned around. I was quickly given the other apple pie after pulling up to the window. I hoped back on the highway and took a sip of basically carbonated water smh. I grew up on short stop, today and the last time I visited this location i was highly dissatisfied

These reviews got me excited to finally give this place a try. I paid for cheese to be added to my burger but I didn’t have cheese. They kept onions too. Fries were cold. I’m very disappointed. Tastes like a smaller sonic burger. Nothing special.

I just had a very bad experience, horrible service at Round Rock on 79th and 35th Street, they took a long time to serve and I was missing food on my menu, it's not fair when you come from so far away.

The meat was cold, the bread was gooey, the fries had an old grease smell to them & the cheese was not sliced cheese but nacho cheese, perhaps. I hadn't been there in years so that makes it even more disappointing.

I went to this Short Stop Last night (5/17/15) @ 10:44p.m. I order a 5pc Tender Combo which came to $8.65, I GAVE $20.00 and the cashier (McKenize) he was suppose to give me BACK $11.35 and I only got back $1.35, I tried going back that evening even talking to the Manager Jasmine she said ,they could not count the draw that night they had closed it for the night. I went back that morning to talk to the a.m. Manager Rajae she said it was only $ 2.00 short! IT'S A DAMN SHAME THAT THEY HAVE THIEFS & LIARS WORKING FOR THIS COMPANY! 😠

I ordered 2 all American combos and I was charged all the food separate so what is the point of having specials if your going to sell all the food separate

No Stars!! Service is horrible! Food cold. Cheese was burned. Asked for large and got small fries. When asked for the large fries I ordered was charged additional fee even though I requested large combo. Then was treated disrespectful as if it was my fault.

Went to short stop on hwy 79, ordered our food and when we got to the window to pay they tell us they have no lettuce. So we asked if we could get 1 order of fries to compensate for not having lettuce, and the lady went to ask the Manager-Jensen. When she came back, she said that the Manager said No! I don't think one order of fries would break them.......plus it keeps the customer satisfied. Next time they need to inform us when ordering not after we have ordered.

Horrible communication skills/customer service. We got 3 combos and asked for 4 drinks, 3 for combos and one extra by itself. They did not give us the 4rth drink and when we told them we did not get it the manager proceeded to yell at us and tell us we didn't order 4 drinks. I will never be going to this location again and do not recommend it for anyone else.

Every time I come here employees are in such a bad mood and lack every sense of customer service. I order for meal but only received 3 drinks. When I asked for my fourth drink the lady literally rolled her eyes at my mom and made an “ush” sound. After showing her my receipt she finally gave me my drink however when I added if I could get more ketchup she rudely and almost yelling said “theres some in the bag” so I replied “there is only 4 packs, may I please get more” and after giving me 4 more packs she slammed the window door in my face. I swear there is always something in this place that prohibits me from coming for months…

I have a broken foot and was starving home alone. I decided to crutch down my apartments flights of stairs and make my way over to short stop. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with only lettuce, pickles, and onions. I drove home excited to eat my burger, painstakingly crutched up the stairs again, and finally sit down. I unwrap my burger and it came with the works, everything on it. Outraged I crutched back down the apartment stairs and drive back to shortstop. I explained my situation that I went through a lot of pain to come back and would like a refund and burger remade. The burger got remade, but I did not receive a refund. The workers where rude and had complete lack of sympathy for what I had to go though because of their mistakes.

Got all the way home and they didn’t give me all my food!! And the frys were almost frozen still… $18 for a burger and fry’s and then they won’t answer had to call 3 times and just let it ring!!! And when they did answer the girl called me a lier and just put me hold!!! Never going back not recommended at all

This was the first time I was not satisfied with my order. I moved out of town but had an appt in Round Rock. I decided to have Short Stop. First off, it appeared to look different than normal but I went ahead and placed my order. The hamburger was dry. I asked for ketchup and onions only. Little ketchup was squirted on the burger. More ketchup would have probably helped on the dryness. The fries tasted like potato chips because they were so hard, and the apple pie was hollow (no apple filling). Is the Palm Valley location under new management?

I went in not that long ago the lady who took my order was the worst, she was rude and she kept rushing didn’t even let me finish talking, I asked for a number 4 with everything except tomatoes and sauces, when I get to the pay window not only she took forever to charge me but also gave me a sprite which I never asked for, and said well u didn’t want a sprite no ma’am I didn’t I said DPepper, anyways when I get home I checked the receipt and she charged me for double cheese I only got one and my burger only had onions and 2 pickles nothing else no bacon no lettuce didn’t have the extra cheese she charged me for… anyway I don’t give reviews out bc I’m not used to that but she really got on my nerves and it was a horrible experience, I love this place I always come here and never have a problem until today…. I hope you take her off the window..

I love short stop burgers but not from this place! The meat patty was like chewing on a boot sole. It was 11:30 am and I was literally the first customer and they serve me last weeks patty’s. The food quality and the service are very sub-par. I should have gotten the clue when there was nobody in line and the other places around were packed. Do your stomach and your toilet a favor and eat elsewhere.

Burger is good. Make sure you have some extra napkins because they only provide one napkin with the order. Also if you are thirsty stop by a gas station and grab a can of soda since in the 16oz. cup you only get about 3-4 oz of soda. The rest is all ice. Within 5 min, the soda is watery... They usually ask if you want ketchup for your fries. They also provide one little ketchup package (if they don't forget). 10 years later, asking for easy ice, 3 sips of soda (the rest is ice). I assume they're selling ice at the price of soda.

One Star? if there had been no stars I would have selected that, even though the hamburgers are the best you will find anywhere and the staff is always fast and courteous. I used the SS at the RRHS location that closed for some unknown reason. Now the only one left on 79, is so busy that one is discouraged from using it. Why did the location close if the interest is still so very high? I was a loyal customer, I would have paid any increase in cost. However, that did not happen. In all fairness they may be having more troubles than I know. I like to think that I am a self described hamburger aficionado, and I am just sorry that great local places like Short Stop are disappearing.

I ordered a hamburger (all the way but no ketchup), fries, and a medium drink. At the price of $9.00. The hamburger was super small, the fries were old and cold and the drink Didn't have hardly any ice so it was lukewarm. I was very unhappy with what was supposed to be my supper. And changed my mood on shortstop. Which used to be good. Not anymore
