Opinions de BCN rest. Sabadell
We went to BCN Taste & Tradition a few days ago for dinner, right after arriving in Houston from the airport. We made it to our reservation promptly at 5:15 p.m., and at that time we practically had the entire restaurant to ourselves, aside from one other table, which made the experience feel even more special. This was our third time dining at BCN, and as always, the entire experience was magnificent. From the maître d’ and hostess to the waitstaff, the service was impeccable—professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. BCN is a Michelin one-star restaurant, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Houston who enjoys traditional Spanish cuisine with a refined, modern fusion twist. The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, featuring authentic Picasso and Dalí sculptures and artwork, along with an excellent selection of wines and spirits. We enjoyed two of their house gin and tonics, which were fantastic, as well as two bottles of wine that were honestly outstanding. As for the food, everything was exceptional. We started with the octopus appetizer, which was sublime—perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. We also had the potato and quail egg foam with butter and black truffles, which was elegant and delicious. The duck breast was cooked beautifully and packed with flavor, and the fideuà, their seafood pasta dish, was outstanding—rich, balanced, and expertly executed. As always, the seafood at BCN truly shines. In addition, the chef sent out a small spoon appetizer (the name escapes me), and it was absolutely fantastic. Overall, BCN Taste & Tradition is a must-visit in Houston if you’re looking for Michelin-star dining and genuinely appreciate Spanish and Latin-inspired cuisine. Reservations are required, prices are excellent for the level of quality, and the experience is consistently top-tier. Highly recommended for any serious foodie visiting Houston.
We went here for Valentine’s Day with a group of friends, very great service and very attentive staff. The Valentine’s Day tasting menu was fixed, but had multiple options to choose from which was nice for the second and third courses. Great assortment of gin based drinks which they’re known for. Food was OK was not spectacular by any means but was definitely well, but presentation was excellent. Very romantic intimate vibes we had a private room. Lots of beautiful artwork and art pieces throughout the restaurant. Overall great experience would definitely recommend a one time visit if you haven’t already.
This place was absolutely incredible. The batatas bravas and the calamari special were mind blowing. The filet mignon was also incredibly rich and flavorful. Would recommend getting it done medium rare to medium. I would also highly recommend getting cocktails since they many different options. The grapefruit mocktail here was also incredible. It had a bitter and sweet refined flavor. For the dessert I would recommend getting the gypsy's arm dessert. It had a creme brulee crust and a creamy inside. The staff here were also incredibly nice, they even offered recommendations for pairings for each food. The atmosphere was also incredible, it had some of Joan Miró's paintings and sculptures, 2 Salvador Dalí (there might be more), and even some of Picasso's plates, and sculptures. Unfortunately for this review I only took photos after I ate (maybe because the food was too good so I was focusing too much on it).
At BCN, I found not just a meal, but a sensory transport. The service was a masterclass in hospitality, which is attentive, graceful, and executed with a warmth that made the evening feel truly personal. The Gin & Tonic, cradled in a grand balloon glass, was a fragrant epiphany; an ethereal blend so smooth it felt like a long-awaited dream realized. To conclude, the Gypsy’s Arm arrived as a poetic final act, with 'Happy Birthday' elegantly scripted upon the plate, a touch of grace that transformed a dinner into a cherished memory. What a symphony of Spanish elegance. I left with a satisfied palate and a lingering sense of wonder.
Absolutely amazing. Every dish was excellent. I have nothing more to say. Oh - call ahead to ask about the tasting menu. They said they need advance notice especially for weekends.
We sat at the bar today and had an amazing experience. Javier and Hernaez were fantastic. Javier is the mixologist who designed most of the cocktail list, and it really shows. Both of them are incredibly knowledgeable about gin, cocktails, and wine, and made the whole experience feel special. We tried several cava, but the gin and tonic still stole the show. Every cocktail was well balanced and delicious. For food, we loved the jamón, arroz negro, and the suckling pig. Everything was beautifully cooked and full of flavor. We’ll definitely be back.
BCN Taste & Tradition delivered one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Houston. We did the special tasting menu, which let us try small portions of several different plates—every course was outstanding. The wine pairing was phenomenal and truly elevated the meal. What made it even better was the service: they took the time to walk us through each plate, explain what we were tasting, and share the origins and story behind each wine. Shout-out to Alfredo, Carlos, and Guillermo—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely made the night feel special. 10/10. Highly recommend.
First time at a Michelin star restaurant in Texas, and it did not disappoint. First on atmosphere, the restaurant is in a two-story house filled with authentic art pieces with lighting that collectively give a very warm environment regarding service our waiter and waiting staff were all very attentive, personable, and seemed very passionate with their work. Regarding food, most everything was very good with my only possible complaint being that some dishes were on the heavy side. Portion sizes were also unexpected large for Michelin restaurants, though I’m not complaining.
AMAZING! Loved every aspect of BCN. From the restaurant itself, decorated with authentic Picassos’, to the service and the food. Everything was phenomenal. Easy to see why they have a Michelin star. We ordered shrimp and the papas bravas for appetizers and loved both of them. The potatoes were perfectly seasoned, with a good spice kick and with an excellent soft texture. The shrimp was equally amazing. My fiancée also ordered a leek soup for appetizer and it was savory and overall delicious. For mains, I had the daily special which that day was the whole branzino with potatoes and broccolini for two. I ended up eating it all 😂 It was SO delicious. The fish was flaky, buttery, moist and perfectly seasoned. So were the potatoes and broccolini sides. To finish off we ordered the “Gypsy’s Arm” for desert and absolutely loved it. We don’t typically like deserts with passion fruit and passion fruit sauces but this one was amazing! If you’ve been considering going to BCN, waste no time and make a reservation now. One of the best restaurants in Houston hands down!
What can I say that we don't already know about BCN? This restaurant deserves the Michelin star and more. The Spanish cuisine here perfectly encapsulates our trip to Barcelona and the tapas style dining we experienced throughout Spain. Everything was delicious and well executed. The presentation was exceptional. We started with the patatas bravas and the octopus, both of which were amazing. The octopus was tender and well seasoned, generously portioned on top of potatoes. As a main course, we had the iberico suckling pig and the steak. The iberico pork dish was especially yummy with perfect crispy skin. Dessert was equally amazing. I can't recall the name of the dessert dishes but one was a rich creamy chocolate based and the other a type of shortbread. Our server was also wonderful. He was attentive and knew the dishes well. His recommendations were spot on. We will definitely be back whenever we get the chance!
We had brunch at BCN Taste & Tradition today and really enjoyed the whole experience. We ordered the Spanish Ibérico ham croquettes, Spanish octopus, Bomba rice, roasted fideo pasta, and the suckling Ibérico pig. Every dish was delicious — rich in flavor yet surprisingly light and not greasy at all. The only exception was the suckling Ibérico pig, which had a slight gamey taste. I am very sensitive to that kind of flavor, so others may not notice it. The ambience was elegant and comfortable, and the service was warm and welcoming. Overall, a wonderful brunch experience and definitely worth visiting.
Our anniversary brunch at BCN was spectacular; without a doubt one of our favorite meals we've ever had in Houston. We had the tasting menu, plus a few things a la carte. Everything we tried was delicious, but the two huge surprise standouts for me were the strawberry salad and the Spanish octopus - easily the best salad and octopus I've ever had. Service and atmosphere were lovely, and really made the whole experience feel complete. I can't wait to come back!
This place was exceptional. The service was fantastic, our server was extremely knowledgeable of the menu, the quality of the food was excellent, the beverages were unique. And had a good environment. The suckling pig was absolutely delicious. The filo dough desert was delicious and light. Everything on the menu did in fact have a Spanish inspiration or origination and all have very unique flavor profiles. My only complaint would be around portion size of the food while I understand this is fine dining. I do think the entrée-portions and cocktails were slightly undersized. That said, I recommend and would return.
I made a business dinner reservation here and somehow it did not stick. They ended up being able to accommodate us anyway and set us up outside on one of the nicest days in Houston. They even have air-conditioning on the patio and it’s not even enclosed. This place is definitely worth the hype. Every single thing that we ate was so good and the service was impeccable. Definitely understand why it received a Michelin star for bib gourmand. The rabbit and the octopus were my favorites. The desserts were all outstanding too. We ordered three out of the five.
I realized they don’t respond to reviews, but I’ll still share my experience from last night dinner, which gave me plenty to talk about. First of all, Juan and his team did an incredible job taking care of our table while we celebrated my youngest daughter’s birthday. Truly excellent service, thank you again Juan. On the food side: -Patatas bravas felt more like baked mashed potatoes than authentic bravas. -Beef tartare was full of flavor, and my wife’s favorite appetizer. -Pulpo a la gallega was very good served over a bed of mashed potatoes. -Jamon iberico just jamon iberico. -Croquettes never made it to the table. -gambas al ajillo, had a tasty flavor but using skinless shrimp, they lacked depth of flavor. -fisherman soup was the biggest disappointment, no taste of the langostinos or fish, plenty of croutons and a piece of sautéed fish meat. -pig a la segoviana came with a strong gamey flavor that’s why we left some in the plate. -on the brighter side, the grilled branzino was just EXCELLENT served with veggies and again some sautéed mashed potatoes I’ll definitely order it again next time. Desserts were also a highlight: crispy fillo, tarta de Santiago, and lemon tart were all delicious, the cocktails were great too. Otra vez Gracias Juan. Ps: Chef … too much mashed potatoes 🥔
We celebrated a birthday dinner at BCN and it was absolutely phenomenal. The food was exquisite — every course transported me back to my time living in Spain. The atmosphere was elegant, warm, and celebratory, making it the perfect setting for such a special evening. A heartfelt thank you to Pedro, Paco, and the entire BCN team for creating such an unforgettable dining experience. Truly one of the best in Houston!
Before moving to Houston, we lived in Southern France near the boarder of Spain. This restaurant was a welcome reminder of the amazing food and hospitality we.used to enjoy. As soon as I saw txakoli wine (a classic Basque region white wine which is very dry and slightly salty) on the wine list I knew we would be in for a treat. BCN did not disappoint. The food was absolutely incredible and lived up to the Michelin expectation. The service was impeccable with a lot of attention to detail. The staff were very knowledgeable and very friendly. Thank you for a great evening, I will definitely be coming back again.
We went to BCN to celebrate my friend that just beat cancer and the service was awesome. Our waiter was really nice and made her feel special. He even showed us the Pablo Picasso sculpture and placed it on our table for us to look at it. For appetizers we ordered papas bravas, another one with grilled octopus and mashed potatoes. Definitely get the papas bravas, they were small but packed a huge punch! The other appetizer was good but I wanted some more texture from the mashed potatoes, although the octopus was fantastic. For main courses we ordered the bomba rice with seafood and the rabbit. The bomba rice was not good at all. The rice was undercooked and for a Michelin star, I was 100% expecting more. You can't call yourself a Spanish restaurant and mess up paella. The seafood was fantastic, I'll give them that. The rabbit was moist and juicy but again, terrible undercooked rice. The desert, not shown, was an almond cake that was good but I was not blown away. It was just okay. Sangria was good and a little boozy, but I've had better ones elsewhere. Overall, I give this place a 3.5, but raised it to a 4.0 because of how well we were treated.
Very good atmosphere, have unique art pieces, but a little crowded between tables. Service was great but not over the top, first Michelin starred place I’ve been to that has the staff wearing Michelin star pins .. Menu offerings were good. Food had nice but not amazing presentation. Taste was average compared to the food in Spain. Lots of this is nice but no wow moments. In a weird location.
Great Spanish restaurant in Houston. I stopped by for brunch. The Spanish octopus was simply perfect. The suckling pig was ok. I had it in Spain several times, I was looking for that flavor. It seemed dull specifically considering the price for the plate. The desert was good, but nothing spectacular either. Don’t get me wrong, all the food is good. However, for the price point and hype, it felt short of expectations. Service was immaculate and overall ambiance is superb. Worth trying it once for a special occasion.
We celebrated our anniversary at BCN. This was our first time to a Michelin Star. The restaurant had a great ambience reminding of rich Spanish culture, adorned with original Picasso and Miro artwork. We had the Spanish grilled octopus, Iberico ham with egg yolk as appetizers. Beet root ravioli salad, whole grilled branzino and the suckling pig for entree. For drinks, we took two different versions of Gin and Tonic. The drinks were excellent and I can’t stress that enough. Both the appetizers were good but the potato puree with the octopus felt more like a mash. The branzino was cooked well. It was moist and tasty, however I found a small bone. The chef apologized later for it. The suckling pig was very tender and juicy. The beet root salat was the highlight for the entire meal. It was out of the world. We were too full to have any dessert but they provided us with a free dessert for our anniversary. Overall, we felt the food was good but somewhat was on the heavy side with potatoes being an integral part. Adding fresh elements to some of the dishes would bring out the taste even more. But we would definitely come back to try out some of the other dishes.
The Service: We arrived just 20 minutes early but were surprisingly told we could not enter. When we asked to sit at the bar for a glass of wine, we were turned away again. This was off-putting, though the host apologized profusely when we returned at our reservation time. Once seated upstairs, we had a lovely view of the terracotta roof and pecan trees. The Food & Drink: • Drinks: The "Ultimate Gin and Tonic" was refreshing, even for someone who doesn't usually drink gin. The Sangria, however, was the highlight—easily the best we’ve had since Madrid. • Appetizers: We ordered the Spanish Octopus and Beef Tartare, plus a sampler. There was a mix-up and we received a double order of the sampler in addition to the Spanish Octopus and Beef Tartare. We didn't complain as it was an off-menu accommodation request, but it was a lot of food to start with. • Mid-Course: The Sautéed Green Peas and the Beet Pistachio & Raspberry Ravioli were tasty, though the plating on the peas and the subsequent soups (Fisherman’s and Onion) was lacking in presentation (photos attached). • Entrées: The Rabbit Loin was fresh and the favorite of the night. The Suckling Pig was fresh and also cooked well but surprisingly mild; it needed a more robust sauce or spice profile to make it interesting in my opinion. • Dessert: The complimentary Gypsy’s Arm birthday cake and Fillo Dough Vanilla Brûlée were a perfect finish. The Verdict: The bill came to just over $500 (with tip), which is reasonable compared to other high-end venues. However, having dined at 1, 2, and 3-star Michelin restaurants across the USA, France, Spain, and Sweden, I felt the execution here didn't quite hit that elite standard. It is a very good restaurant, but perhaps not "Michelin star" caliber. For the price, it is a good value though.
This Spanish restaurant came highly recommended, with glowing reviews and a reputation that made it difficult to get a reservation. My husband managed to secure a spot for my birthday celebration with our family, so naturally, expectations were high. Unfortunately, the experience fell short, especially when it came to the food. Despite all the buzz, the dishes we tried didn’t even meet the basic level of expectation—a real letdown for such a special occasion. That said, the dessert was a pleasant surprise—beautifully done and genuinely delicious, which helped salvage the meal a little. The service was good, and the staff were polite and attentive throughout. It's clear they are trying to deliver a fine dining experience, but the food execution just didn’t match the hype. It’s a shame the meal didn’t live up to what we hoped for, especially given the effort it took to book a table. Here's hoping they can bring the food quality in line with their strong reputation.
To my dismay, the culinary experience was largely unsatisfactory. The octopus, in particular, was the most subpar I have encountered in Houston. While the pickled anchovies were exceptional and the most delectable item I ordered despite its simplicity, the lobster dish was utterly underwhelming. It consisted solely of lobster on a bed of shredded angel hair. Furthermore, there were concerning issues with the establishment’s cleanliness. Insects were discovered in both the bathroom (spider) and front entrance (roach), and an unpleasant sewage odor permeated the vicinity of the bar. Arriving five minutes prior to my reservation, I found no designated waiting area other than the hostess stand, which was awkwardly positioned adjacent to the bustling bar and traffic area, constantly obstructing my path and forcing me to move around to get out of the way. The bathrooms were also in a state of disarray, with toilet paper littering the floors and the immediate vicinity. It appeared the doors have never been cleaned. Despite its Michelin star recognition, this establishment was a source of genuine shock. The artistic beauty of the restaurant’s interior and the enchanting atmosphere of its converted house were overshadowed by its run-down appearance and subpar culinary offerings. The art display does make this place stand out Picasso and OG Dali’s.
