Opinions de Golden Bowls Mongolian BBQ Sacramento
I have regularly dined at Golden Bowls since moving here 15 years ago, at least 10 times per year.. Never, not once, have I had a negative experience. The food is top quality and the service amazing. It's a small venue, but service is so exceptional even on days with a wait list the wait is short. I give Golden Bowls five stars because that's the maximum, I wish I could give them 1 million stars. We love Golden Bowls!
Ok... so my stars aren't great. I do love this little hole in the wall... mom and pop hidden gem. They are a very nice family and it's Mongolian BBQ. No Bells . No WHISTLES. But just mom and pop and good BBQ
If it's a hole in the wall Asian restaurant, you know it's got to be good. Of course, the pretty ones are nice, too, but they're missing the questionable stain on the floors or walls. This is not to say this place has questionable stains. Regarding the food itself, it's only bad if you don't know how to cook. The staff quickly restocks any ingredients that are running low. Everything is kept on a cold table. The meats have lids on their containers. If you leave a lid off, they'll be sure to put it back on (but don't leave lids off). The chefs always cook the meats thoroughly and quickly. Besides meat, if you're not a meat eater but not too concerned about everything being cooked on the same iron, it's very easy to make a filling vegetable bowl.
It's really good! Especially if you have a seafood allergy. They don't serve seafood. Just beef, pork, and chicken for meat.
I love this place. Been eating there since I was a kid. 20+ years later and they are still offering the same amazing dining experience. It's casual dining, but you assemble your own bowl so it never disappoints. I recommend three scoops of house sauce, one kung pow, one wine, and garlic and ginger.
Great food for a great price. Extremely nice people!!!!!!
Great place to eat. Very reasonably priced for the amount of food you can get. Fresh shaved meat and fresh produce to top your custom made "stir fry" bowl. If you want to have more than one bowl, the dinner menu is your best option. Dinner is all you can eat with soup, appetizer, rice and ice cream. Dinner starts at 4 p.m. Parking can be limited, especially at lunch but it is well worth it! I returned to area after 25 years and was thrilled to see they were still serving the community with great food and service.
Don't have one where I live so while visiting my daughter we went here for lunch. There was a good variety of veggies to add to the noodles and meat. I picked turkey and it was pretty good. People working there were very nice.. Even got 1 to go for my son who was at my house waiting for the satellite company that didn't show up until after 5 pm.
My absolute favorite place to eat in all of Sacramento!! I love the family that owns it too, they're very quiet but so nice. Don't come here for the decor, come for the FOOD! You will not be disappointed! I've been coming here for 10 years and have never had a bad meal once.
I came with my family today 7/22/21. I wanted some type of Mongolian food, & ended up here. They have good prices, free refills on drinks. & after 5 they have the all you can eat. They gave us little rice bowls & soups that come along with your plate. The staff was all nice & quick. Very delicious food, highly recommended! My family & I will definitely go there again.
Been going to this little "hole on the wall" for years. There are other places that have a few more options to put in your bowl but this place is all about their sauces. The sauces are not watered down like there competitors. This puts so much more flavor in your food. The guys are always so friendly behind the grill. I have never been disappointed here.
One of the few good values left when it comes to all you can eat restaurants! The value is unbeatable at less than $20 a person after tax and tip. It is your standard Mongolian BBQ format where you create your own bowl to your preferences and hand it off to be cooked. If you are paying the dinner price you are allowed to create as many bowls as you like. If you are on your first bowl, you can request a to go box which is nice if you don't end up finishing your first bowl. The staff are wonderful and it's a fun little place that appears to have been here for quite some time. Definitely worth a stop and don't forget to tip the chefs!
Any time I'm craving Mongolian BBQ this is the only place I want to go. Follow the recipe for adding sauce when you get to it especially if it's your first time. Plenty of options of meats and vegetables with two types of noodles. The family that runs it are very sweet and they put their heart into this place. When it gets busy, it can feel cramped but, it only adds to the family feel of the establishment. The egg drop soup is absolutely fantastic as a side. They have a great soft serve vanilla ice cream option too if you're craving something sweet after your meal. One of my favorite places to eat! Give it a try if you're craving Mongolian BBQ!!!
One of my wife's favorite restuants. We went for lunch for her birthday. We only got the lunch bowl because it is a huge bowl, comes with soup, rice, wonton strips and sauce. We love that they offer a variety of meats, veggies and sauces. The offer Ice Cream too with the meal! Theyre very nice too. Allergies - everything is cooked on the same cook top. Peanuts are a option.
Always dope. This is a hole in the wall. But Mongolian should be. Ingredients are perfect. They have the good noodles (not all do). Sauces are great (advice: follow the suggested receipe for sauce combination). Definitely give this place a shot. Remember, you choose the ingredients and flavors. If you aren't happy with it, build a better bowl. Enjoy!
The food was good, sauce was a little thin but still good , service was great, atmosphere got a four star just because it's a little small and crowded
Lady was extremely nice, was helpful with telling how i could submit a tip for the cooks as i didnt bring any cash. Will miss this once i move up north. Don't stop being spectacular 👍 👍
Simple easy lunch meal. Just get what you want smash it with a bowl and get it cooked. This will take 1 serving to make you full in the Tummy. Golden Balls is an awesome 1 stop hole in the wall place.

Super tasty! I love the selection of sauces. Only downside is no cilantro. But other than that, delicious!
I'm a grown adult now; however my mom used to take me here as a kid. The chef is the only reason I know how to use chopsticks. -He engineered a kid version with strong paper and a rubber band. --I've always remembered that, and often have nostalgia and gratitude when I use chopsticks❤️ a little act of kindness can really go a long way. Sometimes the nice things we do, and good customer service we give... will be remembered for a lifetime, and maybe beyond?
My family has been coming here for years! Nice mom and pop shop with great customer service. They have a great variety of meats, veggies and sauces to build your own bowl. Highly recommended. Very affordable.
Our favorite Mongolian BBQ in Central/West Sac, having visited five or six. Smallish establishment with a nice but not produced peaceful vibe and excellent food cooked well (not undercooked or burnt). Not the biggest selection of veggies I have ever seen, but I was perfectly satisfied with the options available. Standard meats plus turkey and typical assortment of sauces. I'll add, regarding being our favorite: We stumbled on this place a couple of years ago and loved it but didn't keep track of the name and location and had been searching since. There are some other nice Mongolian BBQ places, but we always left saying, "Not as good as that one..." Finally re-found this place and were not disappointed by our own memory hype. We will be re-visiting frequently and brining friends.
This place feels super cozy. Not fancy high-back chairs and a fireplace cozy, but at home with a big warm bowl of noodles, meat, and veggies cozy. Super nice people working here, too.

Don’t be fooled by the atmosphere. It is popular. Food is good with the usual meats, vegetables, sauces and spices. My family, who live near to this, go regularly. I always enjoy getting my ‘fix’ when I come into town to visit.
Great food !! I enjoy my lunches with my coworker.
Staff was awesome and the selection of ingredients pretty good. The chefs were professional and cooked the meals well. The soft serve vanilla was also very tasty and the machine well maintained. Was lacking in side dishes as they had no soup when I visited. The layout inside was a bit cramped. Also the selection of sauces was a bit lacking.. an orange or sweet and sour option could have been nice. Overall though another great Mongolian style restaurant that provides a pleasent meal.
I think what sets this place from others is the sauce selection. Kung pow is definitely a must if you like it on the spicy side. Vegetables can be hit and miss on selection as for mushrooms and water chestnuts, which are sometimes not available. Free soft serve ice cream 🍦. Overall, good value
I’ve been coming to this place for 4 years now and love it. The interior is outdated, but cozy in a sense and the food is fine, even though they run out when I go there. However, the waitress could do a little more work such as cleaning the tables and paying attention to who comes in, but since I’m regular she already has my drink prepared w/o even asking me so that’s something. The cooks on the other hand are humble people and kind and always greet me with a smile. If you want something fast and a small quiet area, then check this place out.
My daughter and I have been coming here for years, and we absolutely love it. There are booths and tables, and the selection of meats and vegetables are very appealing and fresh. The decor is cozy and inviting, nothing fancy. There's a simple charm to the dusty decorations that adorn the shelves and walls. The service is fast. Although there are other menu items, the primary focus is on customers who grab a bowl, fill with good food, and have it cooked up piping hot. The longest we've had to wait was about 10 minutes, as the line moved along. It takes about three minutes to cook a bowl of food, and during the rushes there are two cooks on the grill. Do the math. It's family-owned and all hands are on deck. For dine-in, they offer a selection of beverages and will bring your check to your table. They also provide a to-go container. You can ask for a bag too. They don't stop by your table and engage in chit chat, so if you need something you'll have to speak up. I'd consider this more of a fast food experience than fine dining. Don't forget to try the free ice cream for dessert before you leave.
Consistent experience over the years. I wish they had some of the options that other places do like Lamb. The ambience is solidly hole-in-the wall with minimal frills but, is clean and well operated so the food is good.
Food: the food is pretty average. The rice is your standard white rice you'd get anywhere else. The chips could use some salt and the sauce seemed a little too sweet for me. The soup was pretty good. The Mongolian noodles themselves were okay. Not the best, not the worst. I'd consider coming again. Service: The service was amazing. I was seated right away and everything was ready on my table by the time I got back with my bowl. Also, my check was ready to be paid early on so I didn't need to wait for that (that's a plus when you're headed here for lunch from work). Atmosphere: I'm not sure how this place passes the health codes to be honest but that doesn't stop them from making good food and serving their customers. The ceiling fans were full of dust bunnies and look like they've never been wiped, the trims were really dusty, the walls were dirty, the front door was made of plastic. Idk how they passed the code but nonetheless; good food.
Good flavor make sure to add many scoops of sauce, and ginger and or garlic just before they cook it

The service was pretty good and the food was decent if you want the food to not be bland make sure you put more sauce. It is pretty good price for an AYCE.

Decent Mongolian BBQ and the customer service was good. Building itself is dated and the bathrooms are extremely dirty. However, I did like the ability to add hot sauce to my bowl prior to it being cooked. Most places have the hot sauce on the dining table, however at Golden Bowls they have it on the counter prior to handing your food to the cook. Huge bonus for that! Husband wasn't a fan of the few choices of sauces, but did enjoy the many choices of meat. Vegetables were decent and fresh. Overall, it's a good restaurant, just not the cleanest. I wouldn't mind eating here again, but I wouldn't go out if my way for it.
Decent place to get Mongolian BBQ for the area. I had a good overall time eating here. Food is good just limiting on the options for toppings and sauce. No AC so dining room was hot and water refill... be prepared to get up and ask. The staff was friendly and nice. I'd be back when in the area
I enjoy coming here. Is.the food the best? No, but it's pretty good and you get what you pay for. The place could use a deep clean, but other than that, I would recommend stopping by. Dinner can be pretty crowded on the weekends. Try visiting for lunch during the week.

Restaurant charged us double for our meals. We ordered two items and they charged us for 4. I will dispute this and adjust my score once this has been addressed.
Looks like a small family business hole in the wall. They have all you could eat Buffet of Pork, Beef, Turkey, Chicken, noodles, chopped vegetables, oils, vinegar, soy sauce, Terriyaki sauce, minced garlic, etc. On a very hot day triple digits not a good place to eat. The air is so stuffy in there only fan no air conditioner. It's uncomfortable to sit and dine in. Best to just order and take out. Had to ask them to refill the bean sprouts, green onions, things like that. It was my 1st and my last time to visit this place. Was invited from a co-worker and very unhappy with the customer service.

I really want to love this place food is amazing and quite quaint. But........ the major issue is they have roaches so for that i can't really eat with buggies nearby

My daughter and I went here for dinner. I have to tell you this is one of our go too places for years. However last night was the last time I will be going to this disgusting place. First off the guy at the counter that watches movies loud on his phone was smoking a cigarette outside when we walked in and didn’t wash his hands after. Next the beef was all fat. The place has never been cleaned in years don’t look at the floor and walls. We were served used wontons that tasted like vinegar. The guy at the counter pulled a huge booger out of his nose and wiped it across a napkin and proceeded to give us our check. As we are sitting there my daughter says “Mom what’s that in your water at the bottom”? There was a chunk of something stuck to the side of my cup at the bottom. As I examined my cup more the cup was absolutely filthy!!! Did I mention the floor that’s never been cleaned since they opened. I am so disgusted and almost threw up many times on my way home and this am just thinking about it. I cannot believe this place is still in business after hearing about the other businesses that have issues. WILL NOT BE BACK!!!!🤮🤮🤮
This place is a hold on the wall, the place is small and very outdated with just a few tables to dine in. For the look of it, they don't even have a central AC, I saw either two fans or portable AC. They don't provide a lot of topping options or sauces. The containers they keep the sauces are some sort of buckets, and it doesn't look like they keep up with cleaning clean or organizing the food area. I order to go but they packed the food of the persons before me, they realized the mistake and placed the other persons food in a plate but asked me if I was okay if they pack my food in the same to go box. I believe their to go price is way too high considering you use the same size bowl as if you are dinning in, unfair since you only get to do one bowl unless pay for each one. I wanted to like this place and the their food but I will not be going back.
Believe it or not ive been coming here since 2013. The food is great. BUT the service or lack of it makes this place awful. The owner Lady was rude and never did anything but bring you the bill and watch tv. I was just their and a young man in a dirty t shirt and gum shorts now does that job. The place is small and dirty. Dont waste your time Believe me you'll be disappointed. The picture is of the so called host/waiter. All he did was play on his phone.

This was the second most epically bad restaurant that we've ever eaten in in all of our years. It's filthy there's not many ingredients to select from the meat is poor quality
Filthy, dated, no selection, expensive. We love Mongolian bbq, just not this place.
