⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (10/10) Hands down the best tiramisu I’ve ever had in my life. The place has an amazing old-school American movie vibe. I went around 10:00 PM and there was still a long line—waited about 15 minutes, but it was 100% worth it. The tiramisu is unreal. I’ve never had anything like it. I literally went back and bought it again. • Tiramisu: the best, no question • Chocolate lava cake: also very good • Bread: starting from $2 and surprisingly incredible $10 for a cake slice? I’d honestly pay $30 for that tiramisu without hesitation. Overall: 10 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely worth the wait.
Great desserts!! The line was long but moved pretty fast. Everyone patiently waited their turn, so the energy and vibe inside was not stressed. Employees were patient with customers orders. Especially 1st timers like us. A huge variety of pasteries, cakes, cookies, pies, ice cream, etc. Everything was perfect, the cake was moist, shakes delicious, cookies soft, etc. I would recommend for the pricing, atmosphere, and many choices of desserts. It is a great place for a date night or even to take the kids.
The staff is friendly and efficient, the aesthetic is fun retro, and most importantly the desserts are delightful!! I’m particular about desserts and this place does everything right, every time. I highly recommend the fruit basket as it’s so light, airy, and addicting!
Such a fun place to grab a delicious dessert, my favorite is the milkshakes. So yummy!
I frequently visit this place. Every time, I feel good after having ice cream and cake here.
In addition to a huge variety of cakes and other desserts, they have a whole shelf of gluten free desserts! The cakes themselves are works of art, about $10/slice, but you could feed one slice to the whole 49er O line. Just kidding, but yes, pieces are huge and delectable. Families came in and shared while smaller kids chose ice cream or "little" fruit tarts. A place to impress a guest with dessert.
Was great experience. Husband and I are senior, 81 & 78 a Rubin sandwich and one slice carrot cakes made nice meal to share. Always clean, and very welcoming. A real treat for us once a month.
I had the Black Forest cake and it was divine! 4 moist layers of the most mouth watering chocolate cake, each layer separated with silky whipped cream frosting and cherry filling that I suspect is Kirschwasser. The side of the cake was adorned with chocolate curls. Coffee was rich and robust, just how I like it. As the very first patron of the day, I was able to enjoy the nostalgic ambience of the music and chrome vinyl covered seating, black and white checkered flooring, and every detail (too much to list) and go back to a time when life was simple. What a great way to start my day. Thank you, Rick and staff.
What an awesome place, we have to come back. it's way better than am/pm and truly does have too much good stuff. Desserts that you don't generally see and some sandwiches too although we only went there for dessert. impeccably decorated in 1950 sock hop style. The neighborhood isn't all bad, yes there's always some Street people somewhere. I had the German chocolate cake it was delicious although they put it in a plastic container for the trip home and it ended up drawing moisture and was a little soggy so I put it in the refrigerator overnight to pull out some of the moisture, perfect. 👍
Our pre-ordered Raspberry Cone Cake with Chocolate Ganache Drizzle was the star of our new Grad Student’s graduation celebration. SPECTACULAR ! ! ! Visually, the cake was perfectly identical to that on the website. I was only just hoping for a spectacular finish on the inside. Absolutely perfect. Exceptional ! ! ! I went to culinary school and graduated along side of a baking and pastry student that went on to become a Food Network Champion. Last time I compared a cake, it resulted in a far less than an acceptable finish for such an expensive cake. This was not the same. Far from the same. Our Rick’s Dessert cake was as close to perfect as I have ever witnessed. Visually impressive outside. Visually impressive inside with a moist and delicious cake, raspberry filling and delicate flavors. WOW!!! I also noticed a very large display of ready to go cakes inside of the showroom. I could’ve just picked one of those, but I am beyond glad with our custom creation. Service inside the store was prompt and friendly. The staff that greeted me made me feel as though I was special and a big spender. That put an afternoon smile on my face as I carried the creation out the door. If given the opportunity again, I would spend that amount without question. The best cakes around. Dicks
Incredible diner, like you would imagine in the oldies movies. Items were a bit expensive for dessert but also extremely rich and filling. I took about 2 bites and was feeling full already. We had 2 slices and shared between three friends and still had leftovers. There was a small line but it went through fast. The staff was very nice and friendly. I really loved the diner atmosphere. I would go back again but maybe not order as much. This is a perfect spot for a first date or a date spot. 💞

Strictly a desert café; your mouth will water once seeing all the deserts (cakes, pies, muffins) Prices are reasonable, coffee is good, service is good.
Rick’s Dessert Diner is the place you go when you’re serious about dessert. The selection of cakes and sweet pastries is outstanding. The display alone makes choosing a challenge. The tiramisu, recommended by the staff, was well-made and flavorful, though a bit sweeter than expected. Still enjoyable, just not as espresso-forward as I prefer. The old, authentic interior with dim lighting and vintage music boxes gives the space real character. Service was pleasant and attentive without being pushy, offering thoughtful recommendations. Bathrooms, however, need noticeable repairs and don’t match the charm of the main space. Overall, a strong spot for atmosphere and an impressive dessert lineup.
First time coming here and it actually suprised me on how fun and nostalgic the atmosphere was! Would definitely recommend coming here late at night the most when you’re craving anything sweet, the ice cream here was definitely worth the price and really good and if you can you should try buying a cake here from time to time, the shakes were good as well! would definitely recommend giving it a try. The only reason I wouldn’t give it a 5 is because it can be a little pricey depending on what you get and the staff wasn’t the kindest to me and my friends. Otherwise id definitely recommend!
Fantastic array of pastries and desserts in a 1950’s themed diner! Rick’s also serves Gunther’s ice cream in select flavors. I ordered the brownie (around $6) and the texture & flavor were so-so. If you like a fudge-y brownie with frosting and walnuts, this is for you. The tres leches cake (already pre sliced and packaged) is very good, though! Staff is very friendly and service is quick, even when there’s a long line on late nights and weekends. Rick’s is recommended!

paid 28 dollars for 2 hot chocolates that tasted nothing like chocolate, it tasted like warm watered down milk and a coconut cream pie had a really bad aftertaste.

Demoted: I have since tried the peanut butter pie and Mississippi mud pie. Both were rough: dry crust, bland ganache, heavy and tasteless. The mud pie last night was extremely difficult to get a bite even with a metal spoon. I wonder if they make it from old ingredients --stale brownie and stale Oreos for the crust? The bottom two layers were hard as a rock. Ganache tasted of vegetable oil. I threw it out halfway. Sundae was fine. I wouldn't get prepared desserts here again. Stick to ice cream with toppings so it's fresh. Huge banana split--enough to share between 2-3 people. I love that it was served in a real ice cream dish. Americano was huge and bitter. I wish that came in a mug but it's a venti takeaway cup size. Next time I'll just get an espresso. I'll probably go back whenever I need a birthday cake.
I heard great things but was a bit disappointed. Got a veg sandwich and pecan pie. The sandwich was OK, if you like mostly bread. Pretty crunchy and difficult to eat, it had a few vegetables in it. The pecan pie stuck to the sides and was a bit difficult to eat, but tasted pretty good. The atmosphere is very much like a Diner, pretty clean but not super inviting. Overall OK, may need to try more items to get a better feel for it l.
Gotta give this a 2 for staff and ambiance but can't go higher since half a water glass constitutes a float. The place was really nice and clean and all the pastries looked really good. The staff were super friendly and there wasn't much of a wait. That being said I had ordered an espresso float and the glass was literally filled only halfway with one half scoop of ice cream. Its like yes technically you met the bare minimum requirements of a float but its clear very little effort was put into it. Once again the staff were very friendly but as a first time experience I can't really say its worth bragging about since even though the quality is decent a half a water glass of coffee and a half a scoop of ice cream appears to be the maximum effort given in some situations. Once again nice place but careful what you order
Some cakes are good that I have tried and some have been extremely dry. One thing is all three times I have been it has been disgustingly dirty. Tables covered in ice cream and cake crumbs and other debris. The trashes overflowing with trash and spilling out to the point you can’t put anything in them. Which makes me nervous about the back of house cleanliness as someone who works in food service management, please do better.
We tried a variety of cake flavors from here, it's probably good to say we had it delivered since everyone talks about how cute the shop is. I haven't been there, I've only had the cake which was good, but I expected more given all the hype and cost. For the price I really did expect a great piece of cake but it was just okay. I feel like sometimes it's really about the atmosphere and the food, rather than just the food.
The cakes are pretty but they're all dry. Tried it a year ago and tried it today and nothing has changed. The only good thing about here is the decor and ambiance. Will not come back for the cakes …

I had been going to Rick's dessert diner dating back 35 years and remember delicious homemade pies, cakes and cookies that were like an old New York bake shop. I went in there today and I was extremely disappointed. Everything looked like it was shipped in from possibly Costco or not made in-house. I ordered the lemon meringue pie, but could not even eat one bite of it. It was so sickeningly sweet and the meringue was crunchy and hard, and I don't think there was any real lemon juice in this whatsoever, and the crust did not seem homemade at all. Sadly, I do not think they're baking anything in their bakery if they are, they need to get a new chef. Absolutely horrible.
Save yourself time and money, this place is not always on point. The sandwiches have no flavor, all you taste is the bread which is hard to chew. Some of the cakes are bland and for 10.95 for a slice you might as well save your money. Best yellow cake has changed their ingredients when the new owner took over. And the birthday cake is dried. Tried to give it another shot and got the same experience.
I was really disappointed with my experience at Rick’s Dessert and Diner, especially considering the price paid for this cake. This cake was for my mom’s 75th birthday, which made the situation even more upsetting. When I opened the box, the cake was already falling apart, with pieces separated and frosting smeared inside the packaging. It clearly did not survive normal transport. For the cost, I expected a reasonably sized, sturdy box that would keep the cake secure during travel. Instead, the packaging was inadequate, allowing the cake to shift and break apart before it even made it home. The cake itself may have had potential, but the poor packaging and resulting damage took away from the presentation on such an important milestone celebration. When customers are paying premium prices, safe and appropriate packaging should be standard, not optional...
Eesh. We came in hoping to get our dessert socks knocked off, but what we got instead was a $10 slice of sweetened sand. Not worth the time or the price. The service was friendly, but we didn’t come in for the service. The slices look decadent, but getting a slice from a grocery store would have been a much better bet. We kept eating it hoping that the flavor would change. The only thing that changed was our minds about going on this adventure again.
