Excellent place for dining inside or out. Their outdoor patio dining is very beautiful! It is very relaxing with an amazing atmosphere and comfortable seating. And the food is excellent as well! The steaks are done perfectly and have delicious flavor! The service was very good and our server was very attentive, always making sure that we had everything we wanted. He also kept us informed on when our dinners were coming out. I would definitely recommend this place!
Food is pretty good, but I come for the historic vibes and amazing architecture! Lots of cool artifacts and antiques, something cool around every corner. There are 3 different spaces, the bar, the dining room, and the basement! Also they have a really nice patio in the warmers months.
A classic and vintage charm with dim lighting, dark leather seating, and richly textured rugs. The exposed brick walls and ornate wooden furniture, along with subtle details like antique lamps and décor, contribute to a cozy, intimate ambiance. The space is perfect for a quiet evening of relaxation or conversation, enhanced by warm, atmospheric lighting and an old-world aesthetic. It feels both elegant and comfortable, offering a refined yet approachable setting.
My husband and I shared our first date at the bar at W.A. Frost, so W.A. was the only choice to host our wedding dinner. We've visited many times and loved every dinner date and gathering at W.A. Frost - the food, drinks, and customer service are exceptional. Scheduling, touring, and planning with Julia and Lilyana was very easy by email and they were flexible with us as we chose customized limited drink, dinner, and dessert menus. We hosted 50 guests in the joined Sophie's Room and Fireside Room which was the perfect space for us. Cozy and already beautifully decorated, all we brought for decor were table numbers, candles, and bud vases. Our guests all complimented the dinner and especially loved the desserts. We are especially grateful to Daniel, the bartender who served us on our first date and was also at the bar for our wedding dinner. Neither my husband nor I drink alcohol and W.A. has many non-alcoholic options, which are much appreciated. We would recommend W.A. Frost for anything from a casual dinner to a special event.
For my money, W.A. Frost offers the best outdoor patio dining in the Twin Cities. Charming atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff with great food, wine and cocktail selections. The salmon, red potatoes and tomato soup were to die for. Thank you. Until next time!
I've been meaning to write this review for eons, but I'm a procrastinator. We held a bridal shower brunch for our dear friends this past April at WA Frost in the Fireside Room and it was nothing short of perfect! We worked with Julia to coordinate the event and she was extremely helpful, patient, and easy to work with. The venue and room itself was exactly what we were looking for. It was intimate and private, beautiful and atmospheric. It was cozy, warm, and matched our vision exactly. Jen was our server and WOW I seriously cannot say enough wonderful things about her. She was able to manage a large group event so gracefully. She was incredibly attentive while mostly operating in the background. She kept our event running smoothly and on time without us really having to think about it. She was friendly, welcoming, patient, and professional. She made the whole thing seamless and easy, and we seriously cannot thank her enough! The food was excellent, cake was divine, and the drinks were incredible! WA Frost made our event magical for our brides and guests. It was honestly the best day ever and everyone left feeling warm and giddy. Thanks to everyone that made our party so special! I recommend WA Frost to everyone for events, and I will definitely host future events here in the future!
My husband and I enjoyed a delightful meal with great service by Nick Finnegan. The deviled eggs and butter lettuce salad were delicious starters. The salad was one of the best ever with fresh ingredients and a flavorful vinaigrette. The elk was tender and perfect for a fall main dish. The atmosphere with a warm fire and beautiful artwork was perfect.
From the start is was an amazing evening. Our server greeted us with complimentary Champaign to celebrate by brother’s wedding. They were attentive and also gave us plenty of space to be able to enjoy each meal. The appetizers arrived promptly and I could eat their spinach artichoke dip every day of my life! We each ordered a different entrée, while the dishes may be a little dated the flavor and cook was great. We brought in a cake from a local bakery and the server plated and served us at the end of our meal. Genuinely such an amazing experience especially for such a special day. Highly recommend for any special occasion celebration!
Besides this historical opulence and its breathtaking atmosphere the food if you couldn’t guess: was the best meal i’ve ever had. The waitstaff were meticulous, knowledgeable, personable, and certainly enjoyed where they worked. You can tell by the environment that this establishment is best in the world.
Amazing place! Indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outdoors and it was so beautiful. Trees and flowers galore! Service was great with solid recommendations, drinks were good, and food was delicious. Can't ask for much more! We explored the inside and it was so cool! It's a registered historical site. Beautiful spot.
We had a great time celebrating our 5 year anniversary last night! One of the few restaurants you can reserve a table on the patio. Service was impeccable, food was amazing. We ordered oysters, spinach artichoke dip, ahi tuna nachos, and scallops with cantaloupe soup and citrus salsa. Would order everything again in a heart beat. We'll definitely be back!
I can't say enough good things about W.A. Frost. Let's start with the atmosphere. We sat on the patio and thoroughly enjoyed it. The building is covered in beautiful vines, large beautiful trees sprinkled throughout, and beautiful flowerbeds and stonework. We started our meal with a nice glass of wine and one of their craft cocktails. My wife is quite the mixologist herself but was very pleased with their Final Argument (often called The Last Word) cocktail. For dinner we chose to share a few items instead of getting entrees. We had the fried green tomatoes, lettuce wraps and the bread basket. It was all so delicious. The fresh baked breads were amazing, the fried green tomatoes were perfect, and the lettuce wraps were very refreshing. Our waiter and the entire staff we encountered were very helpful with the right amount of attentiveness. I highly recommend this place for either a hang with a group of friends or a nice intimate dinner with your significant other.
We went there for a Sunday brunch. Had a lovely time out on the patio. They have a huge outdoor area. You are sitting right underneath trees. Really nice location. Make sure you check out the inside as well. The avocado toast and Eggs Benedict were fantastic. Spent a great amount of time out there since it was so nice to sipping on drinks and talk in such a nice location.
My friends and I didn’t know about W.A. Frost before walking through the doors and now do not think we could have had a dining experience as exquisite as we had for my graduation celebration. The appetizers, main courses and deserts offer options for even the most particular palates. The environment and arrangement of the restaurant accommodated my daughter’s wheelchair, which is huge plus when it comes to visiting any new space. The service staff at this restaurant is the best that I’ve experienced anywhere, because they felt more like friends who just invited you over to a beautiful dinner they were hosting. Thank you Pedro and Bryan! This space was extremely welcoming and I can’t wait until I visit St. Paul again to stop in.
Me and my S.O. went here for dinner before prom. This place was a perfect fit for the occasion, and my S.O., who is vegan. They ordered the Ratatouille, while I ordered pork chops. Both were fantastic, the best pork chops I've ever eaten. The service was great too, so friendly, and there was very little wait for the entrees and appetizers but, understandably, dessert took a bit longer to be served. We sat outside and the building is so aesthetic with the vines. We were 30 minutes late to our reservation, but they still kept a spot for us and they didn't even act like we were late. Be aware the menu changes often, so the dishes in this review may no longer be on the menu. This is literally the best restaurant I've ever been too. GO HERE!
This restaurant is amazing, I love the environment because it's beautiful like European, however it wasn't any parking lot so just park on the streets and walk. The service was really nice and friendly as well, plus she kept checking on me to be sure if I'm okay with the food. Appreciate ❤️. I got the croissant french toast with cream and blue berries. I also got coffee with it as well, and it was incredibly.
Highly recommend!!! Went to brunch on the patio for a friends birthday and had a lovely experience. The food was delicious and our server, Nicholas was super friendly and kind. He brought out a little treat for the birthday gal and just was a joy. If you’re looking for a beautiful brunch spot you really cannot go wrong with W. A. Frost!
Historical ambiance. Delicious assortment of drinks and menu selections. The desserts were also excellent. Highly recommend if money is not a concern. That being said, the food and experience is worth it for special occasions.
If you are thinking of hosting your wedding here, DO IT! I had the most magical wedding at W.A. Frost. I had a microwedding with just 21 people, and the accomodations here at W.A. Frost were perfect. My ceremony and dinner with my guests were perfect. We rented out the fireplace room and sophie's room. The atmosphere was so magical and you really feel secluded and intimate in those two rooms. The food was DELICIOUS and came out in a very timely manner. Our waitress Annalise was so kind, patient, and attentive. We were able to hang out on the patio, and take family pictures downstairs. It is such a cool, unique building staffed with workers who are friendly and care about such a special day. I would highly recommend W.A. Frost for anybody looking to have a small intimate wedding.
Warm welcoming atmosphere and delicious food! We love coming to W.A. Frost! Their private dining rooms are perfect for an event. The rooms are beautiful and their menu is delicious,
Unique, delicious restaurant with a historic twist and inventive food. My wife and I came here on our 13 anniversary because we ate here for one of our first nice dates years ago. The plates have only gotten better. The patio is amazing. The service also great. We are vegetarian and loved our options. Try the bruschetta for a sure win, the celery and fennel for something interesting, and the wild mushroom pasta for a killer main course. We loved our meals and will definitely be back for another celebration.
I haven’t been to W.A. Frost in many years, but finally returned to celebrate my sister’s birthday. The food and service were still very solid…nearly as good as I remember many years ago. The atmosphere is stunning, if you appreciate original architectural detail and the historic charm of the Cathedral Hill neighborhood. (Which we very much do.) It’s hard to believe the building, known as the Dacotah Building, was mostly empty when the present owners purchased it in 1974. Now, 50 nearly years later, we have the privilege of experiencing the arched windows, extravagant brickwork, marble tables, tin ceilings, massive fireplaces and more. W.A. Frost describes their cuisine as casual, upscale American cuisine, and I think that’s spot on. The popovers are popular and quite tasty as a starter. The scallops were perfectly seared and garnished with a summer succotash and corn purée. The chicken was a little heavy and mostly one note (salt), served over creamed spinach and chicken jus. The salmon was my favorite dish, paired with a bean salad, lemon beurre blanc, and plenty of fresh dill. And “the writer” dessert was delicious, especially if you like a combination of coffee, chocolate and hazelnut (who doesn’t.) After all these years, W.A. Frost is still a wonderful celebratory dining experience, with solid food and service (4 stars), and a historic ambiance that pushes the overall rating to 5 stars for me personally. The only small nitpick is that I filled out the requested survey prior to our reservation, indicating it was my sister’s birthday, but unfortunately the staff never mentioned anything to us throughout the evening. I didn’t even notice until after we left, but it would have been a nice touch if they had made an effort to congratulate her or wish her well.
Went at 9pm for date night. This place restores the soul. Beauty abounds. Crisp Nightcap rocks. Thoughtful NA options. 3 deviled eggs, not 4? Boohoo. Burger is worth at most, $15, not $21. Bar food is telling me: "You should just eat in the restaurant, you fool!" Not at all bad, not at all great.
This was our first time at WA Frost brunch and we loved every moment. Server was so engaging and funny, the food unique, and the atmosphere is it's own visual bonanza. We will be back when we come to the area again. Check out the wall of awards. Impressive.
We have done the Sunday brunch at this resturant many times over the past 16 years and it has always been delicious. Atmosphere is very 1900s with dark wood and paintings galore. Have never done the patio.
The atmosphere here is amazing! Our server Nick was incredible!!! He made the experience for my family and friends extremely enjoyable and fun! The food was without a doubt the best breakfast I've had in a long time! I'd give 10 stars if I could. Thank you all for a great time👌😁
The ambiance alone keeps me coming back. Great bar, one of my favorites in the cities. Great cocktails - the bartenders and whoever curates their cocktail list are spot on. A year or so ago they served elote Brussel sprouts to die for. Delicious.
This was a descent experience. The hostess told us to go to the bar side because we were a walk in (the restaurant was nearly empty). We asked to sit in the dining room, and was moved by our awesome waitress. The atmosphere was cool. Drinks, entree, and desert were ok / good, but not what I expected from this restaurant and price point. The 17% service fee was clear (but unclear who the money goes to). Visiting from out of town, so would probably try a different restaurant next time just for the variety (wasn’t “wow’ed” to the point where I would make it a point to come back). The patio looks like it would be a cool place to eat if it was warmer. Overall descent experience.
10/10 ambiance. Cozy and beautiful dining space. There was a ton of holiday decor and dim (but not too dark) lighting in the main dining area. Our group of 5 shared 2 appetizers and everyone had different mains and desserts over the span of 3 hours. The service was slower than I would prefer, although it was a busy evening. I really enjoyed the brie in puff pastry. The duck breast and cabbage was mild in flavor and smaller portion than anticipated. Overall, it felt overpriced for the taste and service compared to other American restaurants but the atmosphere was lovely.
The bone marrow appetizer was so much better than the other time I tried bone marrow at a different restaurant! My fish was very good, but my husband was very disappointed in the prime rib sandwich and the charcuterie and deviled egg appetizers were disappointing. Beautiful outdoor patio and excellent service.
Came here last Sunday for brunch and it was gorgeous so we stayed outside, which everyone had the same mind. Great patio and a lot of seats. We were seated right by some shrubs and there were a lot of bees at this time so it made it a little "stressful" because my daughter and I are very allergic and we've been swatting them most of the time and my daughter's really scared. Not the restaurant's fault but something to consider if you're allergic to bees. Anyway, for food, my daughter ordered the croissant sandwich. She said it was good but I didn't taste some so I'm taking her word for it. I ordered the omelet of the day. Nothing special about it. I think the protein was sausage and it had some peppers and I don't remember what else. The salad was good. Both my daughter and I liked it. It wasn't "swimming" with dressing like a lot of restaurants do. They were serving their brunch menu at this time. So far, I'm not impressed with the food but would still go back because of the ambience and also our server and the host were very nice. And I still would try something else on their menu.
First time here and made reservations for the patio for brunch, it was my birthday. When we arrived, we were seated inside because it had rained and the seating outside was not dried off yet. We were a little disappointed but the inside is beautiful! Food and service were both good. I didn’t get a comp birthday dessert so we ordered the Italian doughnuts and the server lit a candle for me and put in the doughnuts. Overall, a good experience.
Took my sister in law for her birthday, she hadn’t been since 1995 so was excited to go back. After I made a reservation, I answered questions sent to me via email about if it was for special occasion. Shared it was for a birthday, verified w/ hostess and waitress. They did nothing. Not even a dessert. The food was good not out of this world which I was expecting for the prices. The waitress shared, when giving my husband the bill, the extra 17% hospitality fee went to covering the restaurant expenses and not to her or employees. This is not what is stated on their website, “WA Frost adds a 17% Hospitality Fe to all guest checks in order to support fair wages across our entire team.” Beautiful restaurant-the atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous!!!🤩 I would like to return possibly during warmer weather for brunch on the terrace. Definitely a place to go for a special occasion but then again they never acknowledged the birthday we were there celebrating.
We dined in the beautiful outdoor patio on Saturday night with reservations. It's a charming space and I love this area of St. Paul. We started with the popovers ($7) and watermelon salad ($12) plus two iced teas and a lemonade ($12 total). For entrees we chose the lemon pasta ($28) and two Frost burgers $19 each). The standout was the lemon pasta which was excellent. The burgers were good, but the sauce makes them a little messy and I'd order without the pickles next time. We loved the vanilla creme brulee for dessert ($12). Our server Halie was very good. The whole hospitality fee issue in this area gets confusing for patrons, especially when we are coming from out of state. I never know whether to tip extra or not. They state the same "Pursuant to Minnesota Statue....etc" on menus, but I was just at another restaurant where the same fee was added (restaurant was Gai Noi) but the difference was at that restaurant they also stated on their menu that 100 percent of the revenue was paid to service staff. They also didn't have any way to leave an extra tip via credit card at that establishment. WA Frost does leave you the option to write in a tip and does not state on their menu that 100 percent of revenue goes to service staff, and says it's NOT a tip or gratuity. So even though many restaurants are doing this, it seems like there are disparities in what the staff gets which makes it difficult to know when to leave an extra tip! I totally understand the reasoning behind restaurants adding it, but it doesn't seem like it's always benefitting the employees or at the very least, confusing patrons on tipping! I do recommend the restaurant overall.
Very similar vibes to The Monte Carlo in North Loop. I couldn’t book a reservation inside, but when we showed up, they said we could sit out back on the patio. There were a couple waiters by the host stand, and none of them acknowledged us which was awkward. Finally the host came over and was able to seat us relatively quickly. Our waitress was very nice but unfortunately the food took 45 minutes to get to us. We really enjoyed our drinks and entrées. We’ve had better popovers - can’t recommend.
Came here for weekend brunch on the patio and loved the atmosphere! Super beautiful patio and the food was good as well. I got the quiche of the day, which was okay. The people that I was with ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes and the breakfast burrito and those were fantastic!
The food was excellent. You got my husband to try something that was NOT steak & potatoes. He had the deviled eggs & scallops with cantaloupe soup, melon salsa & crispy prosciutto. He actually liked it. I had the trout and thoroughly enjoyed it. The service was impeccable. The prices left us a little shell shocked considering the portions. Definitely a "special occasion" kind of place for us.
Visited here for the first time with a group of people. The experience in terms of atmosphere was great, espectacular place with a very historic vibe, I felt like I was in a museum, it was impressive to be honest. The staff was very nice and ready to help with anything needed, our server helped with right amount of time, not too often but didn't disappear on us either it was just perfect. I got the Ribs as main dish but unfortunately I was a bit disappointed though the flavor was good the meat itself was hard to get out of the bone it was almost as if I had to carve out of the bone to eat it the appetizers were ok too, unfortunately I was no exactly impressed. Prices were a bit on the high end for the quality of the food in my opinion. The cheesecake was a amazing though, delicious would have order another one to go if I could. The restaurant has plenty of space for a big party of people that is for sure, our group include at least 20 people and we were all comfortable with enough space around de the table to eat, that was an excellent experience. Parking was easy with plenty of parking around the area too.
A bit of condescension in the air There’s no doubt regulars to this place are treated like family, many patrons need not to even take a look at the menu and most even know the staff names. However, newcomers are treated with a bit of a condescending attitude, staff gets kind of annoyed when not knowing the place’s ways or kind of irritated when asked about this or that dish. All in all, although not unpolite, treatment is not what you would call warm. The patio is definitely the highlight of W.A. Frost and Company, though I have to remark that in early September, with temperature and humidity high, bugs were somehow annoying. I’d recommend a table not exactly next to the greenery. Moving on to the food (breakfast), unfortunately it only ranged on the ‘good’ tier, and coffee, well, was not exactly their forte. We had the French toast and the day’s special, salmon eggs Benedict, both unmemorable. Regarding coffee, the latte we had was poorly prepared, tasteless, and arrived cold. With respect to wheelchair friendliness, we accessed the locale through Selby Ave. and the route across the bar hall was a bit bumpy for a wheelchair, turned out there was a direct patio entrance on Western Ave N; a sign would have been appreciated. Once inside the patio is spacious and with numerous wheelchair accessible seating. Can’t understand why, with so many available tables, the host had to cram a table of 5 just right next to ours.
Interesting place to visit, but beware of service charge! Interior is antique, feels welcoming, and relaxing. The outside area is just stunning. We could not sit there as it was raining. Food is overall good, but prices felt high for the selection of dishes. I really loved Korean BBQ rips bites! Service charge + tips became around +40% to the bill threw us off, so make sure to know this before going. Otherwise, it's worth trying.
Took forever for food to come out. Staff was polite but seemed overworked and apathetic. Food did not meet expectations for the high prices. Same for the drinks. Squash soup was under seasoned. Meat was under seasoned and dry. Portions were small even for an upscale restaurant. Came here for a nice date with my husband and was disappointed. I guess they have enough clientele from the neighborhood who can afford to just casually come here on a Saturday night that they don’t care much about impressing regular people who came for a special occasion. Glad we experienced it once but won’t be coming back.
Nice atmosphere but our group was seated at the first table in the front by the door when then were many other tables open that would have provided a better experience. Shareable foods were really good but the main course was over priced and not that good.
What a disappointment. WA Frost has always been one of our favorite restaurants for special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries. We live in Iowa and made a special trip to celebrate my wife's birthday. We were greatly disappointed in our recent experience. We loved the atmosphere but that's where the love ended. We were a party of 5 and spent almost $800 with our tip. The Tomahawk pork chop was good but not great. The twice baked potato was cold and the $17 salad was a disappointment. The service was extremely poor. Once our meal was served we never saw our server again. No chance to ask for our food to be warmed up or to order another drink. I guess for $800 I expected a little more. The menu sides are extremely overpriced IMO. Very disappointing. We most likely won't be back.
W.A.Frost is charming and the food and service were good. But, the Sophie and Fireside rooms, their event space, were not adequately heated and it was below 60 degrees in those rooms. Many guests wore their winter coats all night. The lounge in the lower level was also cold. If you hold an event in the winter, ask about proper heating, as we were not informed. Three space heaters and the fireplace are not enough on an very cold day. No management person checked on us either.
Came for a couple of cocktails on the patio. The patio is nice which is why everyone said to come. I got a Manhattan which was $16 and was good. My husband got a white Negroni that was also $16 but was premixed in a glass bottle. No premade drink is worth $16 no matter the supposed ingredients. For $2 more per drink you get shaken cocktails at your table at the nice hotel bar downtown St paul. So idk if fresh airs costs $40 then this is the place for you. Maybe the dinner experience is better.
First, let me say how much I have loved this place, and I treasure it. BUT I feel people deserve to know how this one manager treated me. On Sunday, June 22 my husband and I ate there for brunch and supper and we did not eat anywhere else that day. Our reservation was 6:15 PM. We were eating by 6:40 PM. My husband got a upset stomach by about 8:45 PM and I got an upset stomach at 4:30 AM Monday morning. My husband‘s problem only lasted about 24 hours. It’s now Friday and I’m still having issues despite taking charcoal and Kaopectate. I had to wait until Wednesday when they re-opened to call and ask for a refund on our dinner. I explained that I knew it was this restaurant because we did not eat anywhere else that day. The manager tried to say it was Murrays restaurant from Saturday night that made us sick. I told him he was a fool since it has been MORE THAN 24 HOURS between the time we ate at Murray’s and our dinner there. The manager said food poisoning doesn’t manifest within two hours. It takes 8 to 24 hours. And since I was claiming my husband got sick within two hours, I was wrong about it being their restaurant. All I wanted was our money back for that one meal and I planned on continuing to come to the restaurant whenever my husband and I come back to Minnesota to visit. The manager was rude at first refuse to give us a refund to which I said, and I have no choice but to escalate this on different levels, which I do not want to do so just kindly give us a refund back. At that point then he threatens me that I’m not allowed to ever come back again SIR-With all due respect, you need some further education. Some types of food poisoning can manifest in two hours or less. Also, if you are more on the geriatric end, like my husband, he is 64 your stomach is more susceptible to bad bacteria. MORE IMPORTANTLY-Did you know that the danger temperature zone for fish and seafood is anything over 40° and anything under 150°? Also once in that danger zone for more than 20 minutes the bad bacteria on fish and seafood DOUBLES in its amount and intensity. Since my husband and I both had Fish I had The scallops, which were only pan seared, and my husband had your fish with tomatoes on it, which was definitely cooked and hot, but it certainly wasn’t fried means that is what more than likely happened and made us sick. IT WAS ALSO 95° ON SUNDAY WHEN WE ATE THERE! You were NOT running the air conditioning in your building to help keep the temperature down therefore, that would greatly affect the status of the food unless your people were keeping that fish in the cold refrigerator up to the moment they go to cook it and then serve it immediately and not let it just sit around, waiting to be served to where it’s in that 40-150° temp range for too long. LASTLY- not only do I have a degree in health and I’ve also done food and safety training MY HUSAND WAS A INFECTION CONTROL SPECIALIST FOR LANGLEY AFB! So yes, you better believe I know what I’m talking about. I know how food poisoning works and germs and bacteria and if you still wanna doubt me, there’s no way you can doubt my husband’s knowledge. I know you’re not the manager who spent time with us the last time we were here BECAUSE that manager wore a suit all the time, very professional, very friendly, and if he had been the person I spoke to instead of you he never would’ve said the nasty words that I don’t know what I’m talking about or gaslighting me or telling me I can never come back because your cooks made a mistake. I have literally spent THOUSANDS of dollars over the different times that I have come and eaten at this restaurant, and I will continue to show up and eat here at this place because it’s one of my favorites.
We had a 7 pm reservation for 5. Friends in town from San Francisco. Have been there in many years, and we were excited to be back. The patio is lovely. Not necessarily enough light to see what you're eating. Our waiter, Pedro was fine. The disappointment was, with only 6 entrees to choose from, 3 weren't available. We ended up with appetizers and a drink. We were prepared to have full meals unfortunately the items we were interested in were gone. VERY disappointing.
The food was not like we have had before here. The menu items changed. Hamburger was overdone and they did not even ask how he would like it done. Our vegetables were undercooked. Not enough of the special roasted salad with the undercooked vegetables. Oh and 4 slices of bread was over priced. We asked how much it would be for more and the server disappeared and came back with 4 slices which we were charged for and did not ask for. Would like to give a good review on the squash soup however, that was amazing and should have been all I ordered.
W.A.Frost has been our favorite place to celebrate my and my son's birthdays. The atmosphere is amazing, the service impeccable, and the food outstanding. It has been 3 years since we've been able to go back, and we were all looking forward to it with great anticipation. Unfortunately, tonight may have been our last. The menu was strange. 3/4 of the menu seemed to be appetizers -- 3/4!. The salad options were limited with no basic salad. The Squash Bisque soup wasn't as good as I have gotten at Panera's. The entre selection was small. And the food was barely warm when served. The tastiest thing we had was the fried Brussel Sprouts. But the biggest complaint was the service. It took 15 minutes from the time we were seated for our drink orders to be taken. And that was how the entire meal was. A lot of sitting and waiting for the waitress to come back. And at no time did anyone ask if we would like a refill on our drinks. In short, the service was extremely poor. We might have ordered dessert, but weren't willing to wait another half hour to get it. Needless to say, next year we will try somewhere else.
It's Saturday Night and we have a 7:30 Indoor Reservation - Instead: 1st We arrive and there are zero clues as to where to check in. 2nd Hostess warns us that our table might be as much as 5 minutes late. 3rd It's now long past 8:00 and no staff has approached us or even acknowledged our waiting. Other parties are not willing to tolerate these same circumstances and just walk. Oddly there are quite a few empty tables. 4th Hostess now asks who we are. She says she tried calling us, although we were right in front of the host stand, and in checking my phone there was no such call. 5th we're seated outdoors about 40 minutes late. 6th We reiterate to the hostess that our reservation was for inside seating and was for 40 minutes earlier. She tells us they are short staffed and management doesn't want to hear what that's doing to the customers or staff. She indicates she's doing all she can and that she's had it at being underappreciated. (We should have empathy for her?) 7th Menu is Not what is online (WTH). Lastly, no-one apologies or acknowledges any of this. Be forewarned. Recommend you go elsewhere where they want and deserve your business (this is Not that place). White Castle gives better service.
