Opinions de Cappy's Restaurant San Antonio
Cappy’s has always been a hometown favorite. Definitely worth the drive even if you aren’t in the Alamo Heights area. Known for seafood and cocktails, just about everything on the menu is good. I had the Potato Crusted Halibut with Julianne Vegetables. It was killer, highly recommend. Cocktails were spot on and the bread is delicious. Only room for improvement would be desert. We had the Key Lime Pie which came with a kiwi gel. It was decent but far from the best Key Lime Pie I’ve had and the Kiwi was an odd addition.
Hands down this is the best restaurant in San Antonio. Best food, service and atmosphere. Consistently good. Its a great hidden gem in our city. Highly recommend. On this visit had brunch and had gumbo and split fried shrimp. Chefs kiss.
We had our Granddaughters Birthday Celebration at Cappys On Broadway! Turned 27 yearls old. A couple of weekend we celebrated her Wedding Day in Austin Tx. It was a Beautiful Wedding all Around.
I’ve had lunch here twice. Both times my choices were delicious. I especially loved the homemade potato chips. The waitress was attentive and brought our meals out quickly. My only complaint was the uncomfortable bar stool.
January 2026 Returning to Cappy's, this time for lunch with the business associate. First time here for lunch in many, many years. There are a couple things that have changed from what's on the lunch vs. the dinner menu. I ended up ordering my standard, Gulf Fried Shrimp, and my business associate ordered the fish special of the day, which I think was a Swordfish. Our server was Lily, and she took very good care of us. I can't rave enough about the service you get at this establishment, and I'm looking forward to returning sometime in the future. I hope you decide to dine here and your experience is good or better than mine. July 2025 Revisited Cappy's with an business associate and my spouse. We had a fantastic time. Sean was our server, and he took very good care of us during our dining experience. We sat off of the main dining area. I had the fried grilled shrimp. My spouse had the grilled salmon and our guest had the out of the blue special, which was medium grilled swordfish. For dessert we opted for the coconut cream pie .... yum ! Everyone loved the drinks too, which were crown on rocks, and sangria. Look for updated videos or pictures in this post. I hope you have a great experience too. March 2025 I had an associate in town for some local business this week. We decided to eat at Cappys on Broadway. We had reservations, which I recommend. We were quickly seated and even though it was nice outside, we requested to sit inside over by one of the windows. We were quickly greeted by our server. Ryan, who advised us on the specials and appetizers. He took our drink orders and gave us some time to review the menu and catch up with eachother. Our group ordered the Fried Gulf Shrimp, Grilled Pork Chop and Out of The Blue fish special. Our drinks arrived and we got some additional time to catch up in conversation. Shortly after Ryan left our table, we were brought some brussels sprouts as a complimentary appetizer. I can tell you, I'm not a brussel sprouts fan, but these were pretty good. In fact, these are probably the first brussels sprouts I've eaten in forty years (sorry picture of this dish is when some were eaten). All all of the food was delicious and we ordered their Sticky Toffee Pudding dessert, which is a breaded pudding in a sauce, and I recommend the ice cream be added. We split it between the 3 of us. We had a fantastic evening and I hope that if you choose to visit that your experience at Cappys is as good as mine or better. I've added some additional videos and pictures of the food. May 2024 This is one of the best litter secrets in San Antonio. The prices are a little higher than most other restaurants, but this one has been around for many, many years. I was here with others in our party to discuss market strategies. Our server was. Ryan, who was very attentive, professional, and courteous. We were seated by one of the windows on the first floor. We did not have any appetizers and just opted for a main course and shared a dessert. I had a crusted mustard chicken, with mash potatoes and a vegetable medley. Others had scallops or chicken tacos. For dessert, we had the coconut pie. Yum! We could not have had a better evening dining. I hope your experience is as good as mine.
It’s my first time enjoying Kathy‘s restaurant. I went with a large group of family. Service was impeccable. The waiter did not miss a B. It was very impressive. I had a hamburger and french fries, which was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was decorated beautifully. The parking was perfect ample parking.Enjoyed every minute of it. You can go wrong at this restaurant.
Went to Crappy’s Restaurant in San Antonio for lunch and had a really great experience. The food was delicious especially the sandwich, which was easily the highlight of the meal. Everything tasted fresh and well prepared. On top of that, the service was absolutely top-notch friendly, attentive, and fast without feeling rushed. Overall, a very enjoyable lunch and definitely a place I’d recommend if you’re in San Antonio.
Everything was top quality and our server Justin was very kind. It was our first time dining here and they took care of our desserts as courtesy. My husband and I had the lobster thermidor, it was complimented with grilled asparagus and a lobster potato mash. The sticky toffee pudding tasted heavenly, the mixture of saltiness from the toffee and sweet/creamy with the blue bell vanilla ice cream was such a perfect balance. The crème brûlée was creamy but not too sweet. If you have a chance to go to this place you should, I know I'll be coming back. Amazing food and amazing service :)
Tell me why this is my favorite restaurant in the ‘09. Everything was amazing. We went during lunch and I ordered the lobster grilled cheese and fries. So happy we were able to grab a reservation. We sat outside on the patio. The oak trees create so much shade that sitting outside is no problem with the south Texas heat. I enjoyed the lobster grilled cheese sandwich. I would totally re-order this.. The Service was impeccable and the manager came by to check on us to see how things were going. That was a nice touch. We ordered the key lime pie for desert. The pie was absolutely phenomenal. Will definitely come back again, the whole ambience of the neighborhood is so great to see.
This pace deserves all the stars! Wait staff is friendly, attentive, knowledgeable, well groomed. The atmosphere is cozy and casual but still has that upscale feeling. Like an old yacht club. We have never had to wait for seating with our without a reservation. The alcoholic beverages are fantastic. I had a blueberry mojito, not on menu, it was perfect. The food is excellent I have loved everything on the menu. My favorite are the brussels sprouts, I get them every time. Ended with sweets and coffee. My favorite was the coconut cream pie. It was rich, creamy, and silky. The absolute best cream pie I've ever had. The gentleman I was with ordered the apple pie. It was loaded with layer upon layer of thin sliced apples. Both could be ordered and shared. The prices are high and the portions are small, except on the desserts and sides, but you are paying for taste and flavor when it comes to appetizers and main course.
Sean was a great host. He was the perfect representative of Cappy's. Very welcoming and attentive service, he was well informed related to the various menu items. The food was delicious. I was very impressed with the dirty rice. The texture of the rice was perfect, the aroma of various herbs and spices excited you before you could taste a bite! The overall atmosphere encouraged you to stay. I look forward to my next visit. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
BVOCAL4LOCAL Taylor rocks it again. Omelets and Benedicts oh my! That sourdough toast was on it! Sat on the patio. I keep trying to tell friends just because it says "fall" doesn't mean it's cool. Leaves aren't falling because it's fall. They are melting. That said, it wasn't unbearable. Great sauces will keep you cool.
I’ve been on the hunt for sticky toffee pudding ever since coming back from Scotland. And boy, did this one hit the spot!! We went for lunch on Monday, and this place was busy! While everyone seemed to be opting for salad, we felt decadent and ordered the lobster grilled cheese and mustang (? I think that’s what it’s called) chicken. Everything was fantastic. Our waitress was so kind and patient despite how demanding the crowd was. So happy to have stopped by finally!
This is a hidden gem. First time here but definitely not the last. The entire experience was A+. Our waiter Shaun was so friendly and sweet. Food was excellent and very nice size portions. The Blueberry Mimosa is made with fresh blueberries, no syrup and a must try. Looking forward to trying the other Lawton restaurants here in SA.
My wife and I stopped by for a drink here at Cappy's and can't wait to go back for dinner. Although we didn't have any food just a quick drink at the bar, the service and friendly faces there made us need to go back and have dinner. Such a great ambience inside and a menu that had our jaws watering. We did try their house espresso martini which is a 10 of 10! Definitely try this place out even if it's just for the martini.
What can i say other than wow! My Family and I have been visiting this location for years. If you enjoy great food and even Better Drinks! Boy are you in for an absolute treat! Our Waitress ( ERIKA ) last night was superb , professional, and quite friendly. This location has always offered us a Very worthwhile experience and is a staple for my family when we crave Quality Dining and Food at its absolute best! From the Food and Drinks as well as the Atmosphere. Cappys is a must experience location for any first timers! How do I capture how great the food is with words better than any photo or by simply dining there personally could ever offer? The Presentation, The Aromas, and Most of all the Flavors! It always exceeds our expectations! My wife and I recommend the Beef Tenderloin and Salmon Dishes! Also… if you save room for Dessert.. try their Sticky Toffee! It is out of this world! 10 out of 10! I always definitely recommend!
On our way to the botanical gardens, we couldn’t agree on where to eat, so we ended up here—and we’re so glad we did! Our server, Abel, was amazing—attentive and engaging. The food was incredible: the buttery burger, crispy onion rings, and flavorful Mustang chicken. We were even treated to complimentary sticky toffee cake by Abel and Kyle, the GM, since it was our first visit. Kyle also stopped by to welcome us personally. We’ll definitely be back when we're in San Antonio!
OK, so we “accidentally“ just ate brunch at Cappy’s for the first time. We were intending to go into their sister restaurant out in front, but parked behind and went into Cappy‘s. So glad we did! Great experience. Justin our server was excellent very friendly and made wonderful recommendations on the menu. Very attentive! Kyle, the general manager stopped by and visited with us when he found out that we were first time visitors to Cappy‘s. All in all great restaurant, great atmosphere, great service and food was excellent. My wife had their specialty mainstay Mustang Chicken that was very tasty. Potatoes were excellent and chicken was done just right. As we were there at brunch, I had the Eggs Benedict with the blue crab cake. To finish off, we had the sticky toffee pudding, which is their signature dessert and it did not disappoint! Will definitely stop by here again.
Incredible dinner! It was a pleasant evening to sit outside. Our waiter was very nice and food, to die for! Excellent vegetarian options, but I would love to see some vegan ones :) We also ordered two desserts, the sticky toffee being the best I’ve ever tasted and a delicious coconut cream pie

The place was cute. The patio was beautiful. Food was good. The paelle was a little salty.

My friends and I had Sunday Brunch here. All of our food was good- nothing to rave about though. I appreciate this establishment and how they consistently put out well made food. Our waiter was nice but forgot a few things, he seemed a bit busy. Drinks were good (again nothing to rave about just typical) Bloody Mary was the best.

Our reservations were not honored. Hostess Izva? Was irritated if not hostile. We were reseated several times. This is a restaurant that I eat at frequently but have never been treated so poorly.
We came here because of the glowing reviews (4.6/5 from over 2,000 reviews) and really wanted to like it, but unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing dining experiences we ve had in a while. We each ordered a cocktail, my husband had an Old Fashioned, which he didn't enjoy, and I had a blueberry mezcal margarita, which was actually the highlight of the entire meal. We started with the crab cake, which lacked seasoning and acidity. My husband's fresh catch of the day didn't taste fresh, lacked seasoning, and had "crispy skin" that wasn't crispy at all, possibly because it was plated directly on mashed potatoes. I had the lobster thermidor, beautiful lobster tail, ruined by an unbalanced, heavy sauce. It came with lobster mashed potatoes and broccoli (I substituted asparagus for broccoli, but the broccoli looked and tasted like it was from frozen). My husband also had the lobster mashed potatoes, with a vegetable medley that felt like an afterthought. The plating and overall presentation felt straight out of the '80s, not necessarily a bad thing if the food is excellent, but in this case, it wasn't. The service was good, but unfortunately, the food was just not it. We left feeling disappointed and won't be returning.
