Had a fantastic dinner with friends last night at Julian’s. Miles, our server, went above and beyond to make sure we had anything and everything we needed. I met Christian, the manager, and again his attention to our needs was superb. He was extremely personable and attentive to our table and requests!! We will definitely be back. The pizza was just amazing, my husband’s salad was delicious with chicken done to perfection. Thank you for an a very enjoyable evening at Julian’s.
Love love love this place. Great family restaurant with quaint atmosphere on the inside. Can get great home style Italian food, reasonably priced. The pizzas are amazing, and I also recommend the calzone! Easy for a quick lunch or weeknight dinner. Fun place to sit and gab with friends over drinks or watch a football game. Cute full service bar inside
The food was fresh and delicious. Our server was very attentive and informative, keeping me to order a customized lunch special. They even have lunch specials on the weekends! The Italian chicken was the best, served with sautéed spinach which had the best grilled flavor!!
This place is an amazing Alamo Heights jewel! Having lived here our whole lives we were not expecting prices SO reasonable, food SO fresh and SO elegantly prepared! Our service was friendly and incredible. Miles, our waiter, was just so attentive and efficient. He made our already excellent experience even better.
Update: We’ve visited this restaurant many times since our initial visit. The food is always great and so is the customer service. We did takeout here last Sunday. We ordered eggplant parmigiana, lasagna, Italian sub, Greek salads, cheesecake and cannoli. Everything was very good, fresh and hot. Our new favorite Italian place! Would definitely recommend and will certainly return.
Have wanted to try this spot for a long time. Finally got a chance to dine in and was not disappointed. Had mozzarella sticks and a pizza. Both were amazing! I like all types of pizza and have even recently had authentic New Haven and New Jersey pizza up north. This is every bit as tasty, but has its own thing going on. You should definitely eat here.
This is by FAR the best pizza in town. Everything we ordered was very good and tasty, the service was friendly and relatively quick. We will most definitely visit again. We really loved the pizza style and the toppings selection. Also the pasta was delicious, fresh and homemade. Great beers on tap and wine list.
This was the first time we've eaten at Julian's. My son and his fiance were always telling us how great the food was there and so this night they invited us to join them to try it out. We went to the N. New Braunfels location and we initially passed it up. It is located in an old fashioned shopping strip and our gps took us further than it was supposed to, so just a heads up on that. The place is interesting, not huge but not small either. It does offer a few tables outside for some nice out for eating. They had a lot of tv screens and it had a great family atmosphere overall. The food was what we came to try and it did not disappoint. My son ordered the lasagna, his girlfriend ordered the buttery chicken garlic plate. My husband ordered the Margherita pizza and I ordered the Calzone. The prices were not bad and you pay in the front as you place your order. While we were waiting, they brought us some fresh, hot bread to the table while we waited for our food to get there. The fresh bread was amazing, and was a good introduction to what was coming. We were taken back with the generous sizes of our food, and the great service that was provided. The pictures show the portion sizes and until we get smell-a-vision, you'll have to trust me when I tell you it was not just an exaggeration what my son had said about it. I only wish they didn't close so early but that's just me being a little selfish, lol! We look forward to returning soon and trying out some more items from their menu, especially the desserts! My son's girlfriend said the chicken alfredo is the best she's ever had, and she's a foodie, so just an FYI on that. In the end, I give them two thumbs up, but go try them out for yourselves, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!
I saw that this place had good review so I decided to try it out. Everything was eye appealing , but I personally didn't like it. I ordered the build your own pizza with smoked ham and pepperoni. Unfortunately it was too salty for my taste. The lasagna was really cheesy and very eye appealing , but for me the sauce was a bit tangy. The salad was really good. That was the one thing I actually liked. Again it was just my personal preference. My husband said it all tasted amazing.
The veggie pizza was great. But the Margherita pizza was tooooo oily! Unnaturally oily. So it was super soggy and not a fun experience to eat. We also got the cannolis as dessert. But they weren’t nice at all, and no where near to what real cannolis are supposed to be like. Too grainy, and the custard wasn’t flavourful enough. On the plus side, the service was really great and helpful.
The food was good, the pizza is a bit salty towards the crust area. 7.5/10 would eat here again but for takeout. Dining in I found myself feeling like I inconvenienced the workers by deciding to sit at a table. The server seemed irritable and... in a hurry to have me leave (only sat for 30 min) yet there were only 6 tables with people(several empty tables). Despite the lack of customer service, the food is something to have again. The pizza, homemade bread, mozzarella sticks, and dessert. I ordered both the strawberry cheesecake and chocolate cake. The cakes are delicious when served cold.
This took me a few days to get to. I didn't want to post any snap judgments due to a semi rude person who took my order and rang me up when arrived, maybe it was a bad day. Anyway , the ingredients were great. My cheese pizza wasn't extra crispy like I asked, but it was good regardless. The Margarita Pizza didn't have sun dried tomatoes like I was assured when I ordered on the phone, but it still tasted good and thankfully not soggy like other experiences I've had where regular tomatoes were used. It was a bit of a price shock when I received my order. I wish I could've received a heads up on the phone when the order was placed because then maybe I would've rearranged my order. But i asked and was given, and I understood there's no going back at that point of paying. Overall, though, it was better than the other commercial options we sadly have along Austin Hwy, but I don't know if I'll be rushing back after my first experience here in years. Yes, employees and customer service is apart of the experience, and the pizza was great but if I'm going to pay that much I'd minus well get it from the other local around the corner with the crispy pizza and no weirdness. Thank you, though.
My Husband heard about this place on the radio so we decided to give it a try. It's a small cute spot that has a small outdoor eating area. We had the 16' All Meat pizza and it was delicious, we even had 3 slices leftover to take home. My Son had a small Caesar salad with grilled chicken and he LOVED it. My Daughter had the Fettuccine Alfredo and was not a fan of it. We all agreed it lacked flavor. I also enjoyed a glass of their Moscato wine. I should've gotten the name of it, it was so good.
Love this place and I eat here often with friends but tonight my dinner was very disappointing the cheese ravioli was under cooked and gummy when I told the server he said he would talk to the kitchen no one came to our table to ask about it so I contacted the supervisor at the cash area. She apologize and said here staff was young but offered no solution. At this restaurant you pay when you order and with no one from the staff coming to our table I just missed out on dinner. I really felt like my business was not very important.
Strange little place, counter ordering. Egg in pasta, so didn't get that, egg also in pizza dough. So, a 12 inch gluten free, no egg pizza was just over 20. It was OK, bit bland. Cheese good, sauce good. Definitely not the best around. Service ok, seem a little overwhelmed but wasn't very busy. Answered all my questions well. Most things you go get yourself. Not sure their audience. Won't return.
I’ve come here a lot and have actually referred numerous friends and coworkers because the food is delicious. But I have noticed the past multiple times I have ordered to go and pick up that any items that come with their amazing red sauce, well they’ve been putting less and less in them. It’s to the point I don’t know if it’s the new staff or it depends on the day but it’s got to the point I had to write this. Don’t get me wrong I love this place and love the food. The staff they had was amazing the new staff well let’s just say the old staff set the bar high. Back to the issue the sauce is getting less and less it’s sad. I used to never have to worry but now it’s like rations. All I ask is please don’t skimp and get back to how it was. The sauce cups used to be full now it hurts to even open and look into anymore. Now I have to order two just to put together and get close to one full one. I can only wish hope and pray Julian’s gets back to how it was.
Really good lasagna! I like really super basic lasagna- and that’s what this is. No frills, no hidden vegetables, no weird twists just regular basic meat and cheese lasagna. My wife had eggplant parmigiana and was disappointed since she really likes complex flavors, vegetables, and all day hand crafted sauces. She said the butter garlic noodles (pictured) were so flavorless it tasted like they rinsed them in garlic water and called it good. Beer selection was okay. This place serves Pepsi. My 5yr old really liked the kids ravioli and the noodles. The server asked us if we wanted bread, we said yes and he said okay, but then we never saw him again so I’m guessing he was just taking a poll on how much people like bread. We got our table wares from a cart by the kitchen and the drinks are self serve - so if you do go here - maybe don’t tip at the register like I did. I’d say skip going here for a sit down meal but maybe the pizza is good.
First time here, wait time to be seated was a bit long but don’t fault them cause they were busy. We ordered our food and drinks and our server repeated it back to us and everything was correct. The wait for our food was long and she tried to give us a completely different entree than we ordered. My husbands pizza came and it was good but then I had to wait even longer for my entree. I ordered the chicken piccata, the sauce was good but the chicken was very unappetizing, just had a film of slime which I’m guessing is the uncooked flour, just very bland, dry and no color. Overall pizza was good, chicken piccata not good, wait time for our food was really long even after a bunch of people left and we had to wait even longer to be checked out, service was just not good. Would not recommend and will not come back.
We visited this establishment Thursday Feb 26 around 730p. I'm sure the blonde lady working the bar was having a bad day and her face showed it. She never greeted us. Took our order and never said thank you. We asked where the restrooms were, she seemed bothered and just pointed. The soda dispenser area was filthy and the floor mat was saturated and very sticky - disgusting. The pizza's great but service was non-existent. We asked for a pizza box for our leftover pizza. The box says: Established 2006. If service continues like this, might as well kiss your business goodbye.
Placed an online order at 5:15 to pick up at 6. Arrived at 6 and was told the it was not ready and it would be "a few minutes". After waiting for 15 minutes, I asked about its status and was told I'm #2 in line and it is about to come out of the oven. I finally was handed my pizza at 6:30 after sitting for a half hour by a blonde woman with a blank expressionless look on her face. No "sorry for the wait", no smile nothing. The lesson here is forget about online ordering. it's meaningless. They obviously didn't start making it until well after I arrived. The pizza here is so-so but customer service is abysmal. You can get much better pizza in Alamo Heights at Florios or Sorrentos and it is always ready when they say it will be. Will never return.
We visited this pizzeria because of Dave Corky's glowing 8.6 review. However, our experience was drastically different, and it felt like they knew he was coming. The pepperoni rolls were cold in the middle, as if they had been reheated from the previous day. The pizza itself was undercooked and lacked the crispiness you'd expect from a well-made pie. The service was atrocious. I placed an order online to be picked up at 12:15 PM, right after they opened at 12 on Sunday. I wanted to be the first in line, but when I arrived, my food wasn't ready. I saw other customers, who arrived after me, receiving their pizzas while I waited. It was clear that they had plenty of time to prepare my order, yet they failed to do so. To make matters worse, the pizza was nearly $70. For that price, I expected top-notch quality and service, but instead, I received cold, undercooked food and terrible service. The staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized, which is unacceptable for a place that aspires to be a top-tier pizzeria. If they can't manage their customer base, they should limit their order intake instead of compromising on quality and service. The overall experience was disappointing and frustrating. What was supposed to be a quick and easy pick-up turned into a long, aggravating wait, only to receive subpar food. This pizzeria needs to seriously reevaluate its operations. Right now, their product and service are at dumpster fire quality levels. I expected much more based on the review, but instead, I left feeling extremely upset and dissatisfied. Going to cook it more and provide this so people can see what it’s supposed to look and be like. Last three photos are taking this from after my toaster over cooked them @450 12 mins that’s how under cooked pizzas where coming out. What I think happened today. Nobody showed up early enough to start the oven and get it to temp. Therefore they got busy and stuff in as many pizzas as they could before the oven was ready. The result is dumpster fire pizza! That you have to cook yourself and fix. It becomes good frozen pizza at that point.
