This place can get pretty busy on a Friday or Saturday night. I have eaten here multiple times and haven’t had a bad meal. Their menu has a wide variety- plates, enchiladas, seafood, etc. Drinks are good and good value for the money. Servers are always very attentive and polite. Definitely recommend!

Food was exactly what I was looking for! Great flavor, great service...it was busy, but that's a good thing! I had two cheese enchiladas, they were great, and for the first time, I had a puffy taco....I'll be getting that again! I ordered ala carte, so i could try more without the beans and rice, and I'm glad I did!

The food is delicious the atmosphere is one of the best. I am a regular here and you can tell the people who work there love what they do. They treat every customer like family and I have never had a bad experience here. The manager Romeo is the best! He takes care of me and whoever and I bring in. Bartender Oscar is great as well as my server Sarah! Will be seeing them again really soon! Eat here you will not be dissappointed!

Hungry at 1am? It happens & this place was ready to serve us. As soon as we opened the doors we saw people dancing & singing. They had karaoke going! We were just looking for some food not to sing so we got seated on the other side of the restaurant. The service was great even at the late hour & all the employees had a friendly vibe going. The food was good, I mean it’s not going to be my first choice when everything is open, but when nothing is open this food is better than the choices available. If you’re looking for a fun place with decent food this is a good choice.

First off the hours they are open are awesome. Not many places stay open very late anymore so it's nice to have that. Food was amazing. I went during karaoke night which was very busy, but our waiter still made sure we were taken care of and our food didn't take long to come out. An elderly lady sung tonight 11-13-2021 she sung a Spanish song, so if she sees this I hope she knows she did amazing! Absolutely loved her singing and enjoyed the karaoke. I recommend this restaurant. It will be a go-to when I'm in town from now on.

Great atmosphere and great food! Service is 5 star. Their margaritas are a must! If you go for their soup...the Tortilla soup is amazing. Overall, this is a new place we discovered and we plan to come back a lot.

Family was in town and was told this was the best Mexican joint around. We were pleasantly impressed. The food was phenomenal, the pricing was fair, and customer service was better than I had seen in a very long time. Our waiter Romeo truly took care and reminded us what great customer service is like. It's a dying courtesy that becomes more and more rare each day. With a waiter like Romeo, the food could have been subpar and we would have enjoyed our visit anyway. Thanks for giving my family and I a great dinner experience! Delicious food! I've been here for breakfast ,lunch and dinner! And i must say everything I've tried is good ,They do have happy hour till 7pm daily so don't forget to ask your waiter for that menu! Alcohol Drinks are a plus! 3 dollar Mexican candy shots are great during happy hour!

We had a great meal at Grand Tequila Mexican Restaurant. First, we started with chips and queso. The queso dip was excellently seasoned with meat and jalapenos and was so large, we needed to wait for more chips to finish it all. Then came the entrees. I had the Mole Enchiladas. The portions were great, the chicken was good, and the sauce was delicious. In short, we really enjoyed our meals at Grand Tequila and will definitely come back if in the area.

In the mood for some good food and good margaritas? Time to try Grand Tequila Mexican Restaurant & Cantina on 151 (if you haven't already). They have a HUGE menu to satisfy your fix. I went specifically for a margarita so I decided to just get some nachos. I opted for the Los Jefes Nachos (mixed- beef and chicken fajita)and my guest chose the asada mini tacos. I really enjoyed the flavor of the pinapple coconut margarita and I will specifically be back for another one 😂 *Please note I failed to mix my strawberry margarita prior to the pic so don't judge the pic 🤣

29 Sept 2024: I decided to give this place another try, and this time, a guy brought us the chips & salsa at the very beginning. The food was much better this time, and our waitress (Priscilla) was VERY friendly and helpful. The only reason why I didn't give a 5-star rating for Atmosphere is bcuz at times, the background music was super loud, and I could hardly hear my wife just across the table from me. Thankfully, it wasn't like that the entire time that we were in there. ************************************** Sept 2022: One strange thing that I noticed was that at most Mexican restaurants, they give you your chips and salsa with your drinks so that you can snack on them while you are looking at the menu. Not at this place. I asked our waitress when I was ordering if chips and salsa were complementary, and she said yes and then brought them to us after we had ordered our meals. My beef fajita Grand Burrito was OK, but it had a couple of pieces of gristle in it as well as a small chunk of bone that hurt my tooth a little bit when I bit down on it. The flavor was good, but the tortilla that it was wrapped in was very thick and hard to cut or even chew, so about halfway through I just scooped the inside meat and beans out and ate them without the rest of the tortilla. My wife had the Grand Deluxe Dinner, and I guess that everything was fine since she wolfed hers down way before I finished my plate.

Went here for lunch... they have awesome lunch specials and a buffet for 8.99!!! The flour tortillas were to die for...We came Tuesday for the buffet and they had mole as the main... they change the main dish daily. He told us that they usually have cheese enchiladas...rice... beans...flautas...fideo... make your own chicken/ beef tacos and chalupas... daily...Our waiter was great and very attentive. We will definitely be coming back.

My husband and I Came here on a Friday night at 8:30PM and got sat right away. Love their all female mariachi! They were beautiful and the music was amazing! I didn't like that there was a random guy asking if we wanted our picture taken. Just thought that was weird We first ordered the Chile con queso with ground beef. Very good! Loved the random chunks of potatoes that were in it and it came out very quickly. Our main entrees also came out very quickly. Great flavor, great service. definitely will be back!

This place was absolutely great. The service was amazing. Our server was very attentive. The Bartender was great and kept the table hydrated. We stayed for a couple hours during happy hour and had a blast! The food was yummy and my guests really enjoyed all the drinks and shots that they ordered. It really was a nice afternoon. Great place for a date or business lunch. Love the margaritas and street tacos. Good looking place, very clean, good music, friendly staff, excellent salsa. The breakfast green salsa is the best in area by far. Lunch specials are fair but the dinner is more formal and higher quality compared to other restaurants in the area. We will be back soon. Tres Leches was a bit dry, other than that no complaints.

There is never a wait for myself when I decide to eat here which is convenient. Food is okay and the atmosphere is casual. Waiters and staff are very friendly and attentive.

Went there for breakfast. The food was good. The only problem I had was that the place was too cold inside. They had the A/C's blasting, and it wouldn't have mattered if we moved to a different spot, because they have vents every which way. I could see in the afternoon when it's busier, but not in the morning when there's basically nobody.

The food was really good! I ordered the ribeye and it was cooked correctly medium, but it was too salty. The chips were great and the salsa is not too spicy it has great flavor. The drink I got was coconut milk based and was very good! It was almost like a liquid pina colada. Definitely recommend this restaurant! We will definitely go back

We had my mom’s 70th birthday here and it was so much fun. The atmosphere was on point. Everyone was so friendly and attentive. We had one waiter to 42 people and he did an amazing job keeping track of us and making sure we had what we needed. The mariachis were wonderful! They sang all our favorites. Thank you so much for the memories and loved karaoke time after the party.

The Grand Tequila has an amazing assortment of drinks and sampler platters. The location was great and right off of HWY 151. Definitely a must try in Far West Sam Antonio if you are in the area. UFO Buster Radio Approved 👽👍

Nice clean place. Server was very good. Food and margaritas were good. We had green chili enchiladas, beef fajitas, carne guisada and chicken with mole sauce. Variety of margaritas including Acapulco, house and one I cannot remember. It had very thick sauce at the bottom and was hard to drink. The house margarita on the rocks was weak.

We went for our company holiday party. The staff was friendly, for the size of our group the food came pretty quickly, and the dishes were good. You get good portions for the price and the food is tasty. We were not impressed with the drinks from the bar, however.

The food is good, and the drinks are excellent. Happy Hour goes til 7 p.m. 4 stars because they charge you for using a credit card or debit card. 🙃 They charge you alcohol charge. If you order virgin drinks, you have to ask that alcohol charge be taken off. It gets loud, so now we know. It's a pretty lively place. First time here and will be back but with cash to pay. To save a dollar or so in my case. Margarita was around 3.99 & cucumber Martini was around $5.99. And I have a Ceviche tostada for 3.99. Altogether, my bill was $16 for just me.

Trying to eat healthy, even at a Mexican food restaurant. This meal was hot (tempature wise) an added bonus. It was smothered in that tomato sauce with the capers and the olives. Yet not too salty. The vegetables were steamed perfectly the rice was delicious. The bread delicious. It was a filling meal but I didn't feel full. It was super super busy that night. It was a nice atmosphere.

I like this restaurant more for the atmosphere than the food. Nice place, nice folks, good prices, quick service. The food is ok, perhaps not as good at other places close by. Al carbon chicken dark meat ok, white meat too dry. We go when invited, not when jonesing for Mexican food.

Food was good I had a seafood platter had a great portion of fish my dad had the carne guisada plate and my sis had the buffet....she said everything was good and tasty. I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Grand Tequila Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, a venue that combines a cozy ambiance with delicious Mexican cuisine. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the clean, comfortable setting - the restrooms were spotless, reflecting the restaurant's commitment to hygiene. The service was fantastic, with the staff providing timely and courteous assistance throughout our visit. The complimentary chips and salsa were, quite frankly, the best I've ever tasted. The chips had a satisfying crunch, and the salsa boasted an ideal blend of spice and freshness. It was so good, it was almost addictive. However, it wasn't all smooth sailing. A mix-up in the kitchen led to a wrong order landing on our table. I asked if it was the dish I had ordered, and was told it was not. Unfortunately, despite their friendly demeanor, the staff never rectified the issue. Nevertheless, the food's quality was undeniably good. The ingredients were fresh, the portions generous, and the flavors felt authentically Mexican. In conclusion, while the Grand Tequila Mexican Restaurant & Cantina has a delightful ambiance and offers delicious fare, it could do with some improvement in handling order-related issues. It's still worth a visit for those seeking a taste of Mexico in our city, but they should be prepared for the occasional mishap. We came here around 2:30/3 pm on a Tuesday. The parking lot is spacious and has plenty of room. we were immediately greeted and sat. Service was quick, and we got our food in good timing, we did order the queso flameado appetizer and it came out only a few minutes before our actual food, we had the shredded chicken chalupas, and the carne guisada plate. The appetizer coming just before the food was kind of a bummer. Regardless, all of our food was very flavorful and the portions are very generous. Our server was very attentive and helpful.

This place was super crowded on Friday around dinner time. There were plenty of groups enjoying drinks and families meeting for dinner. The service was really good and the food arrived fast. The name of the restaurant really fits because the tequila drinks were well made and priced right. The quality and portion sizes for the food were also good.

We were there with family in the party room and I think the service could have been much better, faster. Everyone's order came out at different times, some family members waiting for a while when the rest were almost done with their plates. Also, restrooms not kept up with. Toilet paper and paper towel dispensers not re-filled. Just the giant rolls on top.

Breakfast tacos here are super cheap but skimpy and always needs salt UPDATE the tacos are back to a dollar which is great just sometimes the potatoes are huge and undercooked but hey it’s a dollar, of course I finished it!

So we are a military family that just moved here from DC!! Decided to try this place .And it’s a strong NO. The customer service was good, as I order to go. HOWEVER the taste is average and for the price the amount of rice I got and only 2 tortillas for my shrimp Fajitas.Honestly it’s mediocre.

On the good side, we confirmed our reservations and when we arrived they assembed our tables. When the reservation was made, and again confirmed, we were assured of Marichi band. Our service was excellant. Food was nice. On the other hand: $50 reservation fee was not reflected in our total and I had to escalate that. There was NO mariachi band! This was for a celebration and it was over 400 for 8 ppl that should have been spent elsewhere. They also did not anser the phone for hours while open. I do not recommend.

Got The grand tequila fajita parillada that comes with chicken, beef, sasuge, and shrimp for 2 but my boyfriend ate one beef fajita taco and I tasted a little piece since that's all we got. With 2 little pieces of sasuge and 2 chicken wings. The best part of the plate was the chille reneno they put on top.

Fajitas had to be the worst I’ve tasted in quite awhile. They were placed in the bottoms of the paridilla that we ordered , just chunks of meat that I could not figure out. The chicken was dry/ the sausage and the shrimp was good. The service was good/ the atmosphere was good. The corn tortillas were good and the margaritas were good. But the so called beef fajitas???? Nope

Okay place to eat Mexican style good with acceptable service. Reasonable prices. Just wished the fajitas and rice was served fresh.

This place has its plus and lots of minuses. Upon arrival we weren't even greeted with a smile. Just with a rude "We only have tables available no booths". Led to a table only 7 steps away. We were a table of 4 and only given 3 menus. Then after 15 minutes or so finally a waitress appeared and at least she was honest in saying they are super busy tonight. Our food arrived around 10 mins later which made up for the earlier. Considering what we ordered as shown in the pictures. Can't really judge the meal, based off the only Tex-Mex plate we ordered. The order was a tex mex appetizer that my spouse and I split. The flautas were bland and the jalapenos were pickled. The quesadillas were the only saving grace for the appetizer. The salsa and chips served were just ok. The restaurant is missing something special to make it stand out.... maybe?? We won't be back... there are too many other texmex restaurants here in San Antonio to try and with better service.

Food is alright. Good size menu to choose from. Bar drink was wrong although have a large selection of drinks. Comes out very quickly after ordering like within minutes. Loud groups and parties. First Timer: I order Torta Combo and Sweet Tea. Torta de asada, it was okay, french fries were fresh, burned my mouth. Wish they updated prices on Drive Thru Menu, Torta Combo and adding Sweet Tea, came out 12 bucks, thats not including tip. Cashier didnt come back grab merchant copy and I didnt realize I left with it till, I got back to work.

Been here a few times while vacation in San Antonio, however this time the food tasted so bland. I ordered chicken enchiladas, no flavor at all I had to put salt which I never use salt but even that didn't make it taste better. The rice and beans no flavor either. My husband ordered the mini tacos and the fajita meat had no flavor either. A little disappointed because this place used to be good with their food. Won't be going back anymore.

So we walked in earlier today and there were 3 people at the front stand, all 3 looked up and kept doing what they were doing. I felt insulted just a bit. A waiter came out from the kitchen, saw us standing there and he fully stopped what he was doing and helped us and even greeted us. This waiter then became our waiter, Peter. He did a great job. He was attentive and easy to talk to about the menu. The prices here are like your typical Mexican restaurant. The question is would I come here again, maybe not. The environment wasn't all that and to be honest, I feel first impression to be a big thing, to be overlooked like that, I don't appreciate it. Food was average as well.

Went on a Thursday Night, my family rolled with us! We had a table of 10. First off it felt very muggy inside. They have incredible industrial A.C. but it felt like it wasn't even on. We sat in the back by the restrooms which was not busy at all. The timing of the order taking and timing of delivery to table was long. It did though look like there was not enough staff. Judge yourself from the photos of food but... other restaurants attend faster and more attentively than here. We got our plates and food delivered without any tortillas. That's the first thing to come with food, we had to ask for them! We left our server with a $76 tip! No response from him at all. Almost like we made a mistake? Anyway, we'll try and go back and give it another try. No soap in the restrooms to wash your hands. No paper towels in the machines to dry yourself with. Food was something I could get at my mom's house on a Sunday. Service, communication is everything! We're not fancy by no means but, timing and appreciation to those who come in to your establishment are top priority!

I ordered beef fajita and asked for onions and bell peppers well I have never been to a Mexican restaurant that charges for onions and bell peppers so disappointing. Service was not the best the salsa was way too watery. Will not be coming back.

I had such an odd experience with a waitress while I was there. Food was mid, and service from my waitress left much to be desired. 10/10 do NOT recommend.

Recently visited the restaurant and ordered the grilled chicken lunch special. The meat was obviously old, dried out, and tasted terrible. The service was mediocre. Each time we go the food and service gets worse. Won't be going back anytime soon.

Very good homemade & authentic food. Great service. Came for margaritas on my first visit ended up returning because of the menu. Updating my review after dinner tonight. I have been here on numerous occasions and everything was perfect no complaints. Tonight I decided on coming to eat after not eating all day. I ordered my usual crispy chicken taco plate... mid way through my meal I found a long hair in my refried beans. I promptly told my waiter there is a hair in my beans and I didn't want the plate. He informed management and they comped me for the plate. My entire meal should have been comped or reduced because the experience. My entire bill was $93.00 total. As much as I enjoyed eating here I will not be returning. On my way out I told the manager that it should be mandatory for ALL wait staff with long hair to wear hair nets. Especially when entering the kitchen. Most of the waitstaff are female and wear their hair down in ponytails. I seen maybe 2 that had theirs up in a bun. Most food service places have their employees wear hair nets. Not quite sure why they allow their's not to. However at the end of the day I am sure it will happen again to someone else. Sorry I gotta find another place to get my crispy chicken tacos. I will never eat here again.

I had been wanting to come here for a while, what a disappointment. We got seated right away our waiter came for our drink order and forgot about us we waited about 20min than I flagged down the manager and asked him if the waiter was coming back with our drinks or if someone else was going to bring them and take our order. Drinks are not worth the price I got the pineapple coconut mix drink for $12.99 and it didn’t even seem like it had alcohol. Food was good but not worth the price. Definitely not going here again

It was my first time trying out this restaruant. I have to say that the Fajitas plate was not good, basically there was more peppers than chicken or steak. Also service was not that great, waiter will just be watching us and asking us every minute if we were finding everything alright, which we found it kind of annoying. I get that waiters should provide an excellent customer service, but there should be a proper balance on how to provide it.

Waitress would not speak to me at all (male) and only to my mother for our entire visit. Really weird and disrespectful. I ordered the fajitas which was missing the guacamole, only had two tortillas, and was a shockingly small portion for the price. Good note was the food did taste good to include the salsa. Would never go back mainly because of portion size and secondly because of the waitress.

The place is great other than the fact that they are not honoring the taco special that clearly states weekdays and today is Thursday which if I remember correctly is a weekday. Very disappointing

Great food but poor service. Long serve wait time approx 15 minutes. Asked if we been helped. Took another 15 minute-ish til we got out drinks. Messed up a drink order instead of a jumbo margarita, it was kinda like a sample cup. -It's a hit or miss on service.

I don't know what happened when I was there but it wasn't a good experience. I went in with a party of three and everything was good until I put my order in. The rest of my table got their food at a reasonable time but for me, on the other hand, my food came out after everyone else had already finished eating roughly an hour after everyone got their food. In the end I ended up getting it to go because I didn't want to keep everyone waiting. In my opinion it was overpriced for what it was especially since I didn't eat it. The margaritas were good but I still wouldn't come back because of how late my food came.

Remember to check your order. The last two times I've picked up to go it's not been ready (which is fair if the system isn't putting the order out immediately like it should) and more importantly the order has been wrong. Missing half an order or completely different food than what was ordered.

A very “eh” experience. Large crowd for a Tuesday night where they were either short staffed or had no idea how to serve a full restaurant. Wait staff had to be asked several times for items (limes, tortillas, guacamole) but they were more concerned and attentive to the larger tables (we were a table of 3). Food was okay at best, probably won’t go back.

It is my personal opinion that this restaurant has degraded in quality and service over the years. Maybe there were cuts in food because of inflation, however if that is the case, then maybe they should drop the price is a little bit as well. Most of the food we ordered was OK. The most disappointing thing was the bowl of Menudo. When it was brought to the table it was supposed to be a large Menudo, but you couldn’t even see the meat under the Caldo. I remember a time when a bowl of Menudo had meat piled up so high that it poked out on top and it looked appetizing. Aside from that the little bit of jalapeño, onion, and cilantro served on the plate was a meager offering of a produce product that is still cheap to use. How bad off can you be if you are cheaping out on white onion and cilantro? Honestly, I will likely never return to this restaurant. I wish them the best, I know they’ve been better, but I would rather take my money elsewhere.

Thanks for your respond to my review, unfortunately this demonstrates one more time the incompetence of the GM that you have in charge, we can’t believe how she lie to you and how she talk about the customers. Also we are very disappointed that you are insinuating that we (the customer) put that roach on the plate when you say that you don’t believe that the roach came from your kitchen. We hope that y’all can prove that to the San Antonio Metropolitan Health department.

Poor experience. Food is mediocre. Not a pleasant experience to be eating the grand tequila fajitas, which by the way are mediocre, and then take out an avocado sticker which was smashed inside the guacamole. Told my waiter and expected the manager to come and apologize, which he didn’t. I had to ask my waiter to call his manager. To be honest, the least the manager could have done is come to our table and apologize, instead, he stated “It is just an avocado sticker.” I told him that his expectation of his team was poor. He started speaking to me rudely and raising his voice, until I told him to not speak to me that way. He back tracked and said he wasn’t raising his voice. Told him the least he can do is give me a discount, and focus on better managing his kitchen staff. Manager is named Ismael.

Ordered menudo to go in the drive thru, when we got home the brown bag was torn at the bottom, and on its side causing some of the menudo to spill in the bag, once I pulled out the bag the whole cup fell out and burning my hand and arm. Called management and all they said was we can’t control the temperature… they just lost a customer who would go every Sunday.

Poor service, the waitress spent more time at the register flirting with the waiter than her tables, the food was simple and under seasoned. The waitress would argue about not bringing food that was to be with the meal until shown her menu. Then never came back. We never leave a bad review for service as you can see on our many reviews but this girl needs to find another career.if it was not for the Alcapoco Margarita, we would have walked out.

The food and drinks were fine but there are fees they charge for that are not explained beforehand. I ordered a frozen margarita during their happy hour and I was charged .30 cents for Lucas and Chamoy, I didn’t ask for either of those things and would have been happy with plain salt. The waitress was aggressive and rude from the moment I got to the table to meet my friends. Maybe because I was late, I don’t know but I treated her the way she treated me. She hovered over me when I was trying to decide what to order, I guess she didn’t realize that she should let me have some extra time to look at the menu without her hovering over me. Then when she gave us our bills she charged me for something that I did not order, so she had to correct it and she expected me to give her my card after she billed me incorrectly. I would not give her my card so I guess she was upset about that, and she was very rude, it went down hill from there. I did not give her my signed receipt and told her I would be giving it to the manager; so she proceeds to send the manager to our table. I was not going to do that I was going to talk with the manager discreetly and let him know everything that happened and that because of that I would not be leaving a tip and that I would never come back to their restaurant. That was my first time at their restaurant and it would be my last. That’s how bad that waitress was, and the whole time she was there staring at me and my friends like we had done something wrong. I would never recommend this restaurant and will not be back and the person who was our waitress was aggressively rude. From my photo you can see all the extra fees the restaurant charges. I wouldn’t give them any stars but in order to post a review you have to tap at least one star.

Second visit:07/2/24 I always want to give places a second chance. I can say we tried their lunch buffet and I have another Mango Margarita. Both disappointed. Buffet lacked flavor and the only good was the shredded chicken and watermelon. Margarita was just too strong to finish. Plenty other Mexican restaurants in SA to choose from. Was expecting so much more out of this place from appearance. Very relaxing and chill place, but the food is not something I would recommend. Now the margaritas are a different story. Great margaritas, that's it. Ordered stuffed jalapeños every chance I get. Too bad, the bacon was thin and burnt, the cheese wasn't filled enough, and the jalapeños themselves too hot without proper portions of cheese and bacon. Just blah. Ordered the Parrillada Estilo Grand Tequila which I also do not recommend. Star of the show was definitely the large Mangolada

I ordered the carnitas plate and asked for cheese on my beans. They brought me my plate with my meat covered in cheese instead of the beans. The server apologized and said he’d have it redone. My plate came out and after a few bites I noticed a pube in my beans. It was def not a hair that accidentally fell on my plate. It was a thick, short and curly dark hair. 🤮 The waiter apologized again and asked if I’d like something else. I just said no thank you. I’m done eating here. I guess someone was mad I sent the plate back. The manager never even came out to apologize or anything.
