My favorite lunch place in San Clemente. Excellent Poke Salad as well as a great Sashimi Lunch deal. Service is great by Jay and Jin, they are always happy to see you and the fish is very fresh. The motto after eating there is “See you tomorrow!”

My friends and I go out to eat Sushi here EVERY Tuesday. Not only is this the BEST Sushi place in town; when you dine in... this place treats you like family. Thank you JOY for always making us feel welcome and for your exceptional sushi and wonderful service!!

Worked as a Japanese food/ sushi waitress for five years and I've been dying for a quality replacement since leaving the old job! Sure, the staff is casual and relaxed- but that's a plus in my book. They've yet to get an order wrong when I make special requests. Their fish is FRESH. Their teriyaki salmon and sashimi Bento is my current obsession. Big pieces of fish and artisan rolls abate any pain I feel for paying full price for sushi. . . Coming from a 50% discount sushi life. I love their energy, their quality, and their attitudes. Boyfriend and I are working on establishing ourselves as regulars.

My family absolutely loves Miyako sushi. They have treated us like family for years. The sushi is delicious and everyone who works there is wonderful, calling us each by name and going above and beyond to make sure our sushi and our experience is beyond excellent. Thank you Miyako!!!!

I've had takeout from this sushi restaurant in San Clemente multiple times, and it never fails to surpass my expectations. The sushi and sashimi quality is outstanding—arguably the best in town. If you are a real sushi fan and appreciate quality sashimi and nigiri I Highly recommended this place if you are craving in San Clemente. Not to many other options for this around here.

My boyfriend and I are visiting from Michigan and asked a local which sushi joint they recommended and this was their recommendation. Staff was incredibly friendly & they let us in 20 minutes before they opened. Sushi was great! We will definitely be hitting this place up again before we leave.

For a mom with young kids who was craving good sushi, this place was awesome! The sushi was delicious! The Ginza roll was my favorite! The owner was very attentive to his customers and checked on us a few times. He spoke to my kids and made them feel so welcome. He even yelled out the door to say goodbye to them because he was in the back when we got up to leave. The staff brought out two kids plates, one was a SpongeBob plate and the other was Dora the Explorer. My kids were so thrilled! They also had the chopstick support piece you clip on to help those who are still learning. Again, my kids were so happy! Our waitress brought my kids to-go water cups with lids (even though we ate there), which is important when you have a 3 and 4 year old who still spill often. All of the staff members were excellent! They brought all the extra napkins and dishes and spoons my messy bunch needed. We went right when it opened at 5pm on a Saturday and it was perfect. I'm definitely going back!

Although small, they were very accommodating to our party of 12, putting together tables so we could all sit together. Upon arrival, I didn’t see how that was going to happen seeing as the restaurant was full at the time (which is always a good sign!) We only had to wait 15-20 minutes which was well worth the wait! My friend Becky assured us it was going to be worth the wait. The crunch roll was delicious and so filling, I could hardly eat my chicken teriyaki bowl which had so much chicken I wasn’t sure if there was rice. I brought it home and am looking forward to a very nice lunch! Everyones food looked amazing! They had no problem with seperate checks, which was refreshing, and handled a large party without any issues. I heard no complaints from anyone. Apparently the Chilean Sea Bass is “to die for” and I got to have a piece of something that was a California Roll topped with scallops and seemed like shredded crab meat with a delicious creamy sauce. I’m definitely going back for that!

My absolute favorite sushi place! The first time we attempted to eat here was a Friday night and the wait was 45 minutes to an hour. I would have waited, but with our 2 young kids, it was too much. The staff was so apologetic and gave us takeout menus, letting us know when they are busiest so we could return another time. It left a good impression, so my daughter and I returned a couple weeks later. Jay was so welcoming, greeting many people by name, and speaking directly to my daughter instead of me for her order, which made her day. We have returned several times and each time, everyone is so friendly. Not to mention their rolls are fantastic, and very fairly priced! I highly recommend checking it out!

Tried a bunch of local sushi spots, this one has been the best tasting so far. We only ate the sushi, but the bowls looked amazing that others ordered and they confirmed as well. Owner was super nice and grateful and checked on us often. Will be going back. This is not a fake review lol as some like to accuse on here

This is best sushi in San Clemente. Pricey but you get what you pay for. If you want bargain sushi that's very popular, Full Moon Sushi is Less than 100 yards away. They are both my go to Sushi restaurants. Miyako is exceptional.

I love Miyako! Best Japanese restaurant I know I recommend it to all my family and friends. Jay makes the best b&j ceviche and they have the best hot tea! I had to ask for a 3rd order of the ceviche even though I was full just because it tasted so good. There sushi is to die for and the fish is so fresh. You don't want to miss out on this diamond of a restaurant.

Friendly and great service. The staff does a great job of keeping the place clean and compliant with CDC requirements. I had their lunch beef bento box that comes with sushi or sashimi (great deal). My hubby and i LOVE this place and the owner “See You Tomorrow"! The food is good, service friendly and usually quick, but it can get busy with a wait our the door. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is because of the N O I S E when it is full. They recently did a nice redo on the decor, but lots of hard surfaces: wood, tile, glass...YIKES! How about hanging some big beautiful asian rugs on the walls to absorb some of the high decible sound??? Benches outside would be nice too. Would be great to get an ok for outdoor seating, but there must be issues or they would have thought of that!!! Give it a try you will go back!!!

Must reserve the cabana seating on the lanai! The sunset view is absolutely amazing. My boyfriend took me here for my birthday. The restaurant is inside the Kaimana Beach Hotel on the second floor. The waitresses are polite and friendly. They all speak Japanese and wear kimonos so English isn't their first language. I ordered the October Kaiseki pre fixe dinner. It included a miso marinated beef, salmon in ginger vinegar, tuna and flounder sashimi, tempura, seabream steamed with seaweed, seasoned mushroom rice, miso soup, and orange gelée for dessert. I have never had flounder sashimi and both my boyfriend and I both loved it! It was our favorite. My boyfriend ordered the lobster & steak pre fixe dinner (aoi) and lychee ice cream for dessert. The waitress explained each dish as she brought them to us. My boyfriend thought the lobster was just okay. The dressing that was on it was not necessary. Also the lychee sorbet was to die for! I love lychee and this was probably the best one I have had so far. Anyway, everything was delicate, delicious, and fresh. We were the only people on the lanai so it was very intimate with just my boyfriend and I. The view of Waikiki beach was gorgeous! It was my birthday so they gave us a 20% discount. When our waitress bought out the receipt we did not look that closely and signed it. After a few moments a different waitress came and told us that the discount was calculated incorrectly and that we should've gotten more taken off than previously. I thought that was very honest of them and we really appreciated it. Overall, great food, ambiance, and view. Would definitely recommend for a romantic dinner.

Food was amazing…on the other hand the service was terrible if you want to wait 1+hours for your dine in or even take out you have found the right place. And what happened to service with a smile.

RECOMMENDATION - We have been here too many times to count and will keep coming back. (5:30pm Monday night) (2 adults) VALUE - $28 - 3.5/5 - Bento Box dinner - teriyaki with a side order of vegi tempura - 4/5 We really like the dinner. We get it To Go and then eat it at home. It's nice for the two of us to split. PORTION SIZE- 4/5 We add an extra portion of tempura and then split the whole meal. So, portion sizes are good. SERVICE- 4/5 Their service is always great. Happy people. The whole place says, 'Welcome!' when you enter and, ' See you tomorrow!' when you leave. :) ATMOSPHERE - 4/5 Typical small sushi place. Friendly environment. Not loud. We've eaten here many times, in the restaurant and To Go. They even have a few tables outside when the weather is nice, which is most of the time.

I really hate doing this because we absolutly love this place. However, this particular night not too busy got right in, however upon seating it took over 40 minutes to get 2 rolls. My 80 year old mother who simply ordered a chicken bowl took well over an hour, finally came out as everyone else was finished.

Ate there 11/23/22.Superb service and food! A true bargain!!! However . . A table in the corner, party of 8 was obnoxious, loud, and ruined the dinner for me, my date, and the other diners in a small restaurant. I informed our server that they were loud and it was ruining our dinner, and she did nothing. I complained to the other server and she did nothing. I can hear other diners complaining but nobody did anything because it generated quite a bit of money. Food is great. I will never be back!!!! A true shame that this restaurant lost hundreds of dollars from other diners to protect one table that might spend $300 there. Ridiculous management!!+

Waited now over 50 minutes for our order, and it still hasn’t arrived. A group of 3 that sat down right before me was served dinner and dessert, they paid, and left the restaurant — and all that we received is a beer. So, apparently service is inconsistent. I hear they are good, but if you want fast service, come when they are not busy. … 10 mins later the food finally came. We tried all their specials as well as various sushi. It’s good, but not outstanding. 4 stars for the food, -1 star for slow service

Sushi is fantastic! Salmon salad was TERRIBLE (we eats salmon salad anywhere it’s served, this was the worst ever…don’t waste your time on it, just order more sushi. Have a salad at home. We waited 56 minutes for our food, found out the order was put in wrong. They said it would be another 35-40 minutes to fix their mistake. Sushi is fantastic. Go for the sushi. Just be ready to wait…maybe take snacks if you’re super hungry. Again the sushi is fantastic!

3 stars is bumped up only for the food. The service was 1 star. It was incredibly slow, we had to ask multiple times to get ginger and wasabi. They forgot about part of our order and had to be reminded multiple times. The servers don’t seem to care about the customers at all. Also if you order toro they give you yellowtail toro not tuna. The rolls were good. Wasabi and fish are all high quality and fresh.

Dont order the salmon teriyaki plate. Salmon way over cooked. Older lady who seems to be running the place is rude. Go to Full Moon Sushi next door. Way better

I went for first time and it was a rather disrespectfull customer service and better than average food. I walked in and tgere was 5 or 6 customers in place and was greeted with you need to wait at least 5 min for table. What? Two sushi makers and three servers and 6 customers?? I sat outside while worker hostess was self absorbed in paper work. I then was seated in the empty restuarant . I quickly ordered and then couple sat next to me 15 min later. 45 min went by. No food. To go orders were being made and picked up. Internet buys. Couple next to me were really hungry too. Way too slow !! And two sushi cooks would not pick up speed from the turtle pace they steadily kept. I watched them. A friendly young waiter i told and he agreed and apologized. I was about to walk out when food came .. it was tasy. But not with the customer service. If they tried to care about aervice even 20 percent more .. food would have been deluvered 40 percent faster. Owner knew this and never said a thing but arrigato .. when i wallked out. Im a big tipper but owner gave noting in apology. I was there a hour and 20 min in empty restuarant. Never go there if yoy want good service

S
Shawn Marzban

The owner/manager lady who runs the show is extremely rude and insensitive. Waiting time at times are more than 45 minutes and when you order to go it will get prepared incorrectly. For example we ordered the soup and few sushi rolls and when we got home we noticed the soup had no juice, just the vegetables in the bottom. I returned the next day and got a refund and when explained the situations to the lady manager she just laughed and made me very angry how insensitivity she managed the situation. The food in general was not too bad and it’s sad in a way we will not be giving our business to them in the future. They did not seem to appreciate it especially when they get a little busy.

Much to my surprise. I came here on a recommendation for take out. 3 times I was told the wait is 40-50 minutes. Put in my order and I walked away. Then I decided to try again after weeks and was told the same( I was this right after they opened and customers were being seated, no one waiting ). I’ m reluctant to say it but I was the only person of color and after I said you’ve said this to me the 3 times I’ve been here the owner said ok I’ll take your order and the sushi chef ask me to wait outside! Really! Sad to say I felt unwelcome. Never again!!!

I am new to the area and discovered this restaurant. I was surprised to see how busy it is at times, but was thinking ... good for them. Food is decent ... balance of flavors but not great. The original draw was the casualness and location for ease of ordering to go. I ate there once (very crowded/tables too close/not the best ambiance). A few more times I got the food to go. Each time I went, I observed the owner/manager and she is so stern and rigid. The staff seem to fear her. As such, the vibe did not appeal to me. Well, I tried one more time which will be my last. Very busy Friday night has my vegetable soup (Miyako Udon) and two easy/simple rolls took 45 full minutes to process. By the way, no customer service or appreciation of giving them business. More like the attitude that I should be lucky they are willing to take my order. Upon arriving home, the soup was suspiciously/oddly half full (practically no juice). We take a picture of the soup and return the next day with our receipt and picture ... the lady owner/manager literally laughs at the sight of the picture! My husband says, you think that is funny? Well, hearing his tone, she got into more of a sorry mode but too late ... she showed herself (time and time again a little bit every visit). We will not be doing business there again. If she continues to be the vibe maker and run the restaurant in the manner I have been observing and quality/care of customers order prevails like our food lacked, I think business will dwindle.

Most of the 5 ratings fake here. I've met and experienced arrogant and rude workers at restaurants, especially in NYC, but never met this kind of rude person before. The supervisor was trying to teach me how to use ApplyPay. He asked to come around the corner, which I did as politeness whereas I was expecting them to help with the payment while I was siting on my table. He was constantly "forcing me" to scan while I was waiting him to shut up so I can talk and ask if he can add a tip for the hard working lady. Once done, he was saying to exit. Who the heck you think you can tell what to do to me? It was a worst day! I recommend NOT to go here.

Sushi was soooooo goood. Excellent. Atmosphere is great. Nice decor. Service, however is so bad I won’t go back. Second time in a row where we had to wait 55+ minutes for our food. There was two of us both times. Three tables came in same time or after us and were serviced first. Too consistent for us. We will go to Full Moon sushi from now on.

I called to make a take out order. Arrived and saw my order was ready and on the take out shelf, however, they made me stand at the cash register and wait while they checked out people who were dining in. I waited for 20 minutes, you read that right, twenty whole minutes, inside the store with my take out food getting cold because they wanted to check out the 5 tables of people dining in. What was the point of take out order if they make their customers wait 20 minutes before they let you pay? I have never received this type of customer service anywhere else. The owner's wife has 0 customer service skills and was very rude. I reminded her politely that I was still there trying to pay for my take out but she said wait and proceeded to take everyone else's bill. Where was the logic in that? Why make a take out customer wait 20 minutes to pay for the food??? I should have just walked out with the food after being treated like trash. I can't believe I waited there for 20 minutes holding the bag at the register like an idiot. I would give 0 stars.

The owner (lady) took a take out call for me and I said I wanted 1 fried California roll. She repeated herself and I said yes 1 FRIED California roll. When got there my order was over $100 because she thought I said FIVE California rolls. She proceeded to blame me and when I got to my car it was a regular California roll and I then knew how there was such a mix up I called and she said I should have said DEEP FRIED California roll like it says tempura on the menu. So sure we were both in the wrong but she was so mad at me. Fast forward a month later.. my regular sushi place was closed so decided to call this one and the owner BLOCKED my number. 😂 she is so rude and it was her fault she misunderstood and there’s a language barrier. She blamed the customer and was so rude when she kept saying I repeated your order five I said no I thought you were saying fried cause that’s what I ordered. Go somewhere else to say the least. Yes I double checked and called from another number to confirm they blocked my number from Ordering how petty from a business owner. She’s mad she has the language barrier but this was not my fault. Better sushi places in San Clemente any ways. 😊
