Tip: Come hungry or share a plate due to the large portions. Be aware that the quality can be inconsistent, and drive-thru service may be slow or non-existent.

Omg, this such a cute place, Great food, super clean. They have Hawaiian music playing in the background. I can't say enough about their entire staff. They are very welcoming and constantly coming to your table to make sure you don't need anything. I highly recommend it! We will definitely eat here again.
Mr Pete's has been around for a long time. I've lived in San Clemente for 20 years and had never gone there. It looks pretty outdated from the outside, and I typically go to the same places to eat. My buddy Brent goes there daily for breakfast and invited me to join him. I was impressed with the remodel on the inside and the large menu. The younger guy at the counter taking my order was so accommodating, he seemed like he owned the place. I have strict healthy guidelines that I follow when eating and he made all adjustments I asked for. The food was great. I have since met buddies there on 2 other occasions for lunch and was impressed with the food and so were they. It's my new 'go-to' place.
Surprise, surprise! I thought I would stop in for a quick burger and noticed they changed their name to Aloha Mr Pete's. The owner of Stacks in Dana Point purchased Mr Pete's and made it more island style. The decor is really nice, super clean inside. Staff was super personable and very knowledgeable. I just had a cheese burger, to go, and it was pretty good! Their menu mimics Stacks a bit. They also serve beer, some cocktails, mimosas, Bloody Mary as well as full coffee bar. Look forward to going back for breakfast!
WOW!! Great food. Wish they were open longer hours, but this is my new favorite San Clemente foodie joint!
Updated July 10: Mr. Pete's has gone through a total refurbishment, so if you haven't visited in a while like us, be prepared for a different place! Food is pretty much the same (Still fine!) but prices are now averaging higher which I was not expecting. Still inexpensive compared to other places around town. Much cleaner, nicer, shinier. The update is nice, really. Counter order, with food is delivered to table. Their breakfast plates are a bit tastier than their breakfast burritos, not sure why. Both are filling with solid portions! Beer is available, and they offer made to order espresso drinks. Dining area is nice, open and clean with all updated decor. It is still a bit stuffy though and they could use some ventilation to take advantage of the ocean breeze! Solid value in San Clemente! It reminds me of The Grill restaurant that is now closed. Mr Pete's is the go-to food spot in all San Clemente! Fantastic breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers, and Mexican food. Cheap beer on tap and always great counter staff! And did I mention the prices? So reasonable you'll be kicking yourself for going elsewhere! Always tons of seating inside, although I wish they had more outside seating. Bathrooms are a little sketchy, so be prepared. Wait time is a little slow if you're expecting fast food, but know that you're getting individually prepared meals to order! If we had only one place to eat and all San Clemente, it would be Mr Pete's!
Wow!! What a difference new ownership and a remodel have made. My wife mentioned this place, I retorted, what a dump.... don't go in the bathrooms. This place has changed and all for the better. She had the waffles and we came back for more. The original owner Pete Katsimientas (sp) woud be proud. They even keep his Pete's Burger the quality of which dropped off with the previous owner. I will try the Pete's Burger again next trip there.
So surprised and stoked. Delicious fresh food, Hawaiian music playing, super clean inside. The only thing I would change, is to spruce up the outside. Make it more tropical and green to make it more inviting from the outside, to match the atmosphere inside. I'll be back very soon!
Tried this place out just for the heck of it. Gotta say it's a hidden gem in San Clemente. The employees are awesome especially the guy that takes the orders around 11am. Good vibes great healthy n clean meals. I've had their 420 burger, pastrami sandwich with an over easy egg inside. Bomb meals. And the fries are NOT in oil all day fresh made meals 💯.
This place is awesome and has it all on their menu. Excellent breakfast dishes, lunch and dinner with burgers, sandwiches, sides and beer. All served in a newly renovated space imparting the best of southern cal/Hawaiian vibe. Service is friendly and fast. Mr Pete’s definitely should have a spot in your San Clemente casual dining rotation.
Enjoyed the breakfast. The Hawaiian latte is my new favorite coffee drink. Kailua pork was nice and juicy. Service was great. Staff was friendly. Looking forward to going again and trying other dishes as the crepes looked delicious.
Cute decent sized eating place. They have a drive thru so there is no waiting time to sit. I order and can sit wherever you'd like. The food is pretty good for what's considered semi fast food. I love their hollandaise sauce, it reminds me of hawaii with a slight citrus taste. So far their sandwich, Kaula pork Benedict and French toasts have been delicious.
I only review places that I can give 5 stars too and Mr. Pete's is one of them. Call ahead as this place can get busy but they are fast. I go by here alot in my travels and look forward to it every time. I got a triple cheeseburger lettuce wrap. The meat here is outstanding tasting and juicy but not overly so. Great sauce here. This place smells and is good. Get the fries, they are awesome too!
I absolutely love this place! I travel frequently from San Diego to LA. I’m going to make it a point to stop here every time I pass. Some young kid named Vincent was so kind and made sure my order was correct before I left the drive through. Zucchini’s were nice and hot and the burger hit the spot.
First time here-I had the best pastrami sandwich I have ever had in my life! Place was well lit, large, and immaculately clean. Will definitely try again!
Employees are always friendly and this has become my favorite places for their generous portions of food, particularly nachos. There is no exaggeration in me saying they make the best nachos I've ever had. On the days I'm only planning one meal (I do intermittent fasting) this single item is plenty to satisfy an entire day.
Two of us shared the huevos rancheros and the Canadian bacon eggs Benedict. The sauces were delicious. Potatoes cooked perfectly. Great service, great atmosphere, with the Hawaiian music in the background it really put me in a Hawaii mood at the end of a vacation.
This place has one of the best Turkey melts I have ever tasted! The service came with a smile and so generous. The place itself is very clean and beautiful on the inside
First time just passing through the town... will be stopping again on our back through. The young man that waited on us was so kind, patient and helpful. A lot of menu items... fried rice, SPAM, and other Hawaiian items. We had an omelet, pancakes, fried potatoes and a few other breakfast items... all very good! The omelet was great. Variety of coffees, shakes, and sodas... Plenty of seating and parking. Encourage you to stop by👍
Update: went back to dine in and it wasn’t the best experience. Inside is no A/c or at least, it wasn’t on if they had it. Our food came out at different times, and the quality went down. If you need drink refills, you have to ask everytime. If siting near the window, be careful. Tons of spider webs. I wish that I would have taken photos of the food. We ate it so quickly, we were definitely hungry and after waiting almost 30 minutes in the drive thru, we were starving. 😆. Got the kids French toast, zucchini fries, the breakfast pancake combo, and Mr. Pete’s burger. It was honestly all so delicious my personal favorite was the Zucchini fries but my husband loved the burger. Price wasn’t bad either. Would definitely come back and try other items but maybe call ahead.
Super friendly staff, and the atmosphere was clean and inviting. We loved the Hawaiian music. We ordered the club house sandwich, chicken sandwich, and 420 burger. The fries were especially great! I highly recommend it for casual dining and the breakfast menu looked very extensive and delicious also. We’ve been there for lunch now. We will have to try breakfast next.
New Owners - Aloha Stacks, New Name - Aloha Mr. Pete's, and they're keeping all of the best parts of Mr. Pete's and offering some of their favorite island-inspired dishes from their Aloha Stacks brand. And the Food is sooo good. I've had the Triple 2 (pancakes, eggs, bacon), Aloha Burger w fries, & the Turkey Avocado Melt w Onion Rings. Can't wait to try other dishes. And GREAT Customer service - from the time you walk in, to the time you leave.....🌴😎
Went in for breakfast with our group of 9. There is plenty of seating for all. The food was excellent!! There are so many different options for everyone. The service was amazing, and the facility was clean and well designed.
Has to be the best customer service I've experienced in socal! Friendly and attentive staff, absolutely delicious food and fresh juices. Large portions so come hungry or share a plate! Bonus view of the ocean in the distance. Cannot wait to come in again.
This place just got updated with a new dining room and new menu. The all-day breakfast is amazing! Give it a try! They have a very similar menu to another famous local breakfast place.
I really like this place, all kinds of quick delicious food. My guilty pleasure breakfast is the 420AM burger with bacon added. It is a burger with egg, cheese, hashbrowns and bacon. Also the folks are friendly!
Food was fresh and piping hot I got the breakfast burrito with 3 meats. Nice atmosphere. The customer service was great
Really good breakfast! You can customize things on their menu to include breakfast foods. I got the Carne Asada burrito with potatoes and egg and it was delicious.

This our go-to for french fries and fried zucchini. I haven't tried the burgers since the ownership changed hands but, hopefully they are still as good as they used to be. Store was clean as well as the bathroom. Still it's great to see Mr. Pete's still in business after all these years!
Wide variety of choices. We've only had burgers. Excellent flavor. I only gave it 4 stars because this last time a good portion of my bun was soggy. Goes to show how juicy the burgers are but the lettuce was also a bit wet. I personally think it's one of the best burgers in town for the price.
I've got to be honest this is a bag of hits and misses with 4 stars giving the benefit of the doubt over 3 stars. The new interior helps to give the eating space a clean and updated feel but does not fully succeed in hiding age of the building. The fresh squeezed juices looked very nice, my sister enjoyed her green tee late, but mom was disappointed in only having non-dary creamer for her coffee. My Pork Benedict was fine but nothing really stood out as special or great the honindase sauce was just passable. Chilli killè was also just fine. The kalula pork was the best part of those two dishes. Sister liker her fried chicken and waffle but while I agreed the chicken was quite good I felt the waffle was soggy. We split the onion rings and those were very good. I suspect that their best item is in fact the burgers. The og Mr Pete's used to be the very stereo typical "burger shack" with price prioritised over quality but not bad with good deep fried items that are easier to do on a lower price point. In its new iteration as Aloha Pete's I think its struggling to figure out exactly what it is now. Last, if anyone from Aloha Pete's reads I would make a point to have a minimum standard for dress code fir the staff. Sweat pants is a bad look for any restaurant.
As a San Clemente local, we had to try Aloha Mr. Pete’s - who has been famous for years for their burgers, but who only recently connected with the same group who does Aloha Stacks for breakfast. I had the Canadian Bacon eggs benedict. My wife had a vegetarian breakfast burrito. Both of us had iced coffee. The Benedict Hollandaise had an interestingly more fruity and tangy flavor than I am used to which was odd but ironically refreshing. The veggie burrito came with refried beans that were fantastic, and the tortilla looked as though it was grilled to perfection; the thing was massive and required a to-go box for the other half. Pricing is very reasonable, the service staff at the counter are very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is perfect for families - very durable and easy to rinse down. Cute atmosphere with Islander music while you look out towards the ocean. Parking is a little strange; we did not try the drive-through. Lastly, the coffee is a solid blend - not over roasted or burnt (more like a smother version of a McDonalds blend).
Ot like any hamburger place I’ve been to in Hawaii. That’s not a bad thing though. Decent burgers great fries, and good service
This place is actually Hawaiian. Hawaiian music and waitress and pastrami omlettes, shrimp tacos, sourdough bread... talk about unique and good
First time to try and we did drive-thru. Had 3 quarter-pound cheeseburger, 1 avocado cheeseburger, and 1 chili fries. I must say it is ok when it comes to the taste. It took a little while before we received our order but it is ok. Thank you for your service.

2nd time here since the new owners have taken over. Both were for breakfast. First time - 3/5 stars Service at the order desk was great. - I got the fruity pebbles French toast. Some of the food items were cold. Having the food warm is a BASIC ability. They didn’t check the box. Second time 3/5 - stars Service was great 5/5 - stars. - My wife got the white lava pancakes. They were good. 5/5. I can recommend this dish. - I got the carne asada burrito. The burrito was warm. Hardly any flavor though. The side of beans were cold. The chips that came with the dish were also cold. - My mother-in-law’s order was wrong. They gave her eggs over soft, not hard as she requested. And the guy repeated her order. Food that comes straight off the grill should be warm. I’ve really wanted to like this place. I’ve been to their Stacks restaurant in Dana and have had multiple good experiences, but this is twice and it hasn’t been a hit.
My husband was excited to stop here on our way back to San Diego after reading some great reviews. Unfortunately, when we pulled into the drive-thru, we never received any service. After waiting for a while with no response, we decided to leave rather than go inside, since we were on a tight schedule. The menu looked fantastic, so it was disappointing that the drive-thru experience didn’t live up to expectations.

We were there a year ago when we were in town. Gave it a great review because it was true. Not today. Ordered 3 pastrami sandwiches to go and a grilled ham and cheese. Ham and cheese was very greasy. Way to much butter. My wife and in-laws thought the pastrami sandwiches were greasy and mostly fat and not cooked thoroughly. Last time was a home run. Two and a half strikes this time.
Guess my hopes were set too high that Mr Pete’s had improved. I got the spicy chicken and it was good, not great but good, got onion rings there were maybe 6 in the bag, wanted zucchini but they were out. Now the carne asada burrito(see attached photo) or should i say white rice burrito with like 7 pieces of carne asada. Very disappointed in the place that was an icon when i was a kid. I know the prices are reasonable but if this is how you cut corners maybe charge more and give us what we want.

Grew up going here. New owners tried to fancy it up and took all the reasons all my friends and I liked this place away. Don't recognize any of the employees anymore. No more Mr pibb. No more churros or fried Oreos. No more hand painted van on the drive thru. Shake machine still always broken though. The food was never great but now everything’s too expensive for the quality. Also I’ve heard from multiple people and personally gotten food poisoning from the fried chicken. Go anywhere else in town.
Two time visit order the chilaquiles with pulled port the first time excellent the second time visiting was not great at all the guy that took my order was rude I had told him really this order states that has pulled pork in it and it only has literally only 3 pieces of pulled pork underneath the eggs so please if you order that plate watch out
First time because I heard great reviews from the local San Clemente page. Wasn’t sure what to order but the man over the speaker ag the drive thru said one of the most common was the Turkey avocado melt. Sounded delicious. Ate half of my sandwich and went to grab the other half and saw this!! Black over ripe avocado. And even a slice of the thick avocado skin once I took it apart. Not at all appetizing. Threw it away 🤢 my daughter got the kids chicken tenders and fries which ended up being okay.
I waited 15 minutes for my first loco moco order with over easy eggs, the eggs were burnt and more done than over hard. I drove back to return it and the kind girl said I’m so sorry we will re make it for you. After another 15 minutes I got my next order, this time everything was even more burnt and the eggs way more burnt than last time. They need to fire whatever cook was there at 2pm 12/01/23 because that is a disgrace to one of my favorite restaurants in town.
So I was around san clemente and there weren't a lot of options for me to stop by and grab a bite, I saw mr Pete's and decided to try it out. I got the big asada burrito and it was just white rice and beans and 2 strips of "asada meat" it was like if I had a bean and rice burrito lol I mean I ate it because I paid 16 for that burrito and drink really disappointed on this burrito no flavor, they have like a teriyaki chicken bowl that my co worker order and that was 20 dollars but look way better than the mexican food they sell there
